Why is Firefox spell checker correcting in Spanish instead of English?

Firefox is correcting in Spanish though current browser and Op system is set to English. Tried installing English as an Add-in dictionary and it gives me a message "can't install update in this version of Firefox 3.6.3". This was a recent download of firefox.

You certainly seem to have both dictionaries (en-GB, british-english, and es-es, spanish) installed correctly, no problem there.
You didn't mention which version of Firefox that you installed basically, the english or the spanish version, but I'll assume english here - it may not even matter, as long as both dictionaries are installed correctly, they should be usable.
When you enter text in a text area, you should be able to right-click in the area and from the context menu have a point "Language >" under which you can select which dictionary to use on the page.
To make it even more practical and user-friendly to yourself, I can strongly recommend a Firefox Add-on that I use myself for controlling dictionary selection; the Dictionary Switcher addon. Acrobat Pro 11 downloads in Norwegian instead of English

When downloading my licence inactivated on my old computer to a new computer in English, it installs in Norwegian.
A repeat download of the English version followed by a repair does leave it in Norwegian.

With some difficulty I found a support chat facility on the Adobe websites.
After a couple of chats aborted by the Agent because my answers did not come quick enough, I struck Shiva with more patience. He asked to take over the screen and reset the language from Norsk to English in the downloaded files. English version appeared.
However trying to register the Acrobat XI Pro downloaded with my licence nr, the registration site tells me that the serial number I enter is valid but I don’t have XI Pro downloaded and asks me to choose the ‘right’ product, i.e. another Acrobat version.
So now I have an English version, I cannot register it.

Take a look at the bottom left hand corner. There should be an option to change location/language. I'm in Norway, and switch between Norwegian and US versions of the site this way.
For anything involving sign-up and payment, however, you may be redirected, I don't know.

Download again and double-check you pick the right language. Also check the same during install. Fopr anything beyond that you need to provide more information about your system and other details.

For Photoshop, this is a two step process:
First install the language in the Creative Cloud Desktop app Preferences (under the gear icon)
After install, go to Photoshop Preferences > Interface > UI Language and choose English. Restart Photoshop.
