My photoshopCC says "Could not complete your request because of a disk error"

When I select certain files I get that error message not sure why. My PSD files are currently located on a external drive connected to my iMac. Need help!!!

Can you please be more detailed? When are you getting this - what is causing it? Any specific tool or while starting Photoshop itself?

Could not complete your request because of a disk error CS5.5 Windows 7

Working on a very large .PSB file, approx 3.5G... Recently tried to open and I got an message that said: "Could not Complete your request because of a disk error"... I am in panic mode. I am 20 hours in and a deadline at the end of the week. Help!

The error means what it says - your disk had an error.
You should probably make sure that you have a backup, and a spare disk.

I'm receiving this "Could not complete your request because of a disk error." message.

I just purchased a brand new iMac (Yosemite 10.10 / 32gb of ram / 3tb hd) and installed PS6 on it. I then updated ACR to 8.7.1 so I could view 5d mark III files in Bridge. I also then installed VSCO Film 06 for ACR and as soon as I went into PS after that I received this error. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PS. As soon as I reinstalled it, I tried opening a raw file and it crashes PS. I can open up a jpeg file no problem. Any ideas?

Effects not working? "Could not complete your request because of a program error?"

Hey guys&gals - I have always had this problem when working in RGB/CYMK modes - can anyone help me with that?
More more importantly, now I am getting in in Grayscale mode as of this morning.
I run Photoshop 6 V 13.1.2 x64 and just updated it this AM.
Effects are crucial for my job, so I need this fixed asap!!
I have tried the ctrl, alt, shift start up to no avail. Restarted, shutdown my PC as well.
Please advise!

Found the places I was supposed to - now what? Photoshop isn't crashing... doesn't give me any info other than a box saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." And I have no choice but to click OK. This only happens when I try to use the layer effects in any color mode. Originally it was only in RGB/CMYK but now also happens in Grayscale.
I'm not technologically savvy - I know what programs I use, but that is all.

What version of Photoshop do you have?
What is the make and model of the camera you used for the shoot?
Could you also include a screenshot of your entire screen as the error message pops up? To include a screenshot in your post, click the word “Reply” below the post you’re reading right now and then click the camera picture to embed the image.

When I click on Define Custom Shape, I get an error message: "could not complete your request because of a program error."

I'm using Photoshop CC 2014. When I click on Define Custom Shape, there is an error box that says "could not complete your request because of a program error." How can I solve this problem or work around it? I've looked on the internet for answers but could find no solutions to this. The custom shape tool is 99% of what I use!

Consider resetting the Pen tool by right clicking here
and if that doesn't solve the problem a logical next step would be to reset your Preferences.
To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.
By the way, if "The custom shape tool is 99% of what I use!" have you considered Illustrator?

Error "could not complete your request because of a program error" when editor is launched after PSE12 update.

Installed PSE12 in July, Installed and operated without issue. Received a message on the iMac 21.5 running OS X 10.9.4 about an update for PSE 12 being available. I downloaded and installed the update. Now when the Editor of the app is launched, I get a message that says "could not complete your request because of a program error". If I click "OK", the editor will usually continue and operate without problem but sometimes it will launch to a full gray screen and with just the border and will not close, can not quit, and prevents the MAC from shutting down. I have the force quit the app to continue to use the MAC. I have tried safe mode and user admin with same error. I can't find any posting specific to this issue. I thought there was a method to reinstall PSE without uninstalling it but I can't find it. Should I just simply uninstall PSE 12 anad start over???

It is a mute point now. PSE12 finally failed to the point it locked up the MAC. I had to restore the MAC OS from backup to a point before the PSE12 update.
The MAC now operates correctly and so does PSE12. I don't think I'll be updating PSE any time soon.

Just got "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

I tried opening a clients TIF file about 30 minutes ago and after it opened in Photoshop, I got a box that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
I hit OK and it pops back up. Over and over and over and over. I shut down everything and rebooted. Same thing after the reboot. I force quit Photoshop and tried opening some other little JPG file. Same error after it opened.
I have not upgraded anything recently. Not sure what to do. At this point, Photoshop just wont work with ANY files. HALP!

Could not complete your request because of a program error after text layers prompt

For the past 4 months I have been receiving a message saying "Some text layers might need ot be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?" In the past I simply click update and go on with my business but now I am receiving a an error message saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." If I click no on the update it loads the PSD file but then if I try to edit anything on the PSD file I receive the same error. I have done the following troubleshooting:
1. reinstalled photoshop
2. repaired mac permissions
3. deleted preferences settings in photoshop
I did create a generic photoshop file and saved it and loaded it with text and everything but with no error. But I did not receive the text layers update prompt either. This works fine, so I basically can say that I narrowed it down to the specific file or something in the file. But also I have tried 10+ different PSD files that prompt for the text layer updates and all receive the same error now.
Any thoughts?

You have a bad font on the system and it knocks out the text engine. Remove it.

Adobe Photoshop Could not complete your request because of a program error

I brought home a Photoshop CC file from work to work on at home. It opened fine, other than some missing fonts which I then installed. I worked on the file for a while and then went to "Save As" a new version. I got a dialog box saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." I tried "Save" instead of "Save As" and got the same result. I tried saving it to different locations, but I keep getting the same error message. I have been using Photoshop CC for almost a year now and have never had this problem. Does anyone have a fix?
The software is Adobe Photoshop CC v14.2.1 x64, and the OS is 10.7.4. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Did you reset your Preferences and Photoshop tools. Photoshop Preferences are not removed with an un-install and an Install does not install preferences. Preferences are created for a user id when a user ID start Photoshop and there are no preferences for the user ID.

Indesign CS5.5 "could not complete your request because of a database error"

Hi guys. Have a huge problem. Just finished my indesign 20 page document for uni. I have gone back to open this file so that i can print it. I saved it as an IDML as the place im printing it has an older version of indesign to me. When i opened it on my computer however to check over it a dialouge box saying "could not complete your request because of a database error" Ahhh Ive tried opening it in acrobat, placing the file in indesign but none of this works!! Your help would be appreciated!! Would it possibly work if i opened it on another computer?

Sounds like the IDML file is corrupt. You will need to regenerate the file in InDesign. As this has nothing to do with Acrobat, I'd suggest you repost in the InDesign forum.

When I go to updates in photoshop help i try to update photoshop and photoshop camera raw but it then says

Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop. (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop. Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install. Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Any solution?

CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
and manually download/install from there.
