My Pictures Locked Up After Download Attempt

I downloaded some RAW files from a folder in My Pictures. Lightroom picked up 399 images from a previous trip at the same time. I deleted those pictures from that folder in Lightroom. I went back to My Pictures to get those 399 pictures back in Lightroom in their proper folder.
When I tried to download Lightroom told me there were "No Pictures" in that file.. I tried it a few more times slightly altering the Import settings thinking I might have done something there. When I would try to download a second (or third, etc) time it told me there was a Disk Process going on & I could only do one at a time. I checked the box to stop the import in the upper left corner. Nothing happened. I closed Lightroom, reopened it & tried again..
Now I cannot open My Pictures with Lightroom open or closed. Apparently I've clogged something up with so many X's & O's that My Pictures doesn't want to work at all. When you click on it nothing happens at all.
Does anyone know how to refresh My Pictures & Lightroom to get things back to normal so the programs aren't feuding & will talk again.

I want to thank each of you for your suggestions. I was going to try each and everyone of them. Actually, I didn't get a chance. The night I was having the problem with the mac not shutting down, I unplugged the power connection. By the time I got home from work yesterday, the battery had died and therefore the mac was finally off. I reconnected power and waited....it came back up as normal and seems to be just fine. And no, I didn't get hit by that lightning bolt. Thanks again!

IPod (4GB) stays in "locked" position after downloading latest update

I am having trouble with my Ipod Mini (4GB). It will not toggle out of the "locked" or "hold" position. I have tried the 5 Rs, and all other suggestions as well. It started this after the most recent update I downloaded.
I tried resetting it, and it still continues to remain in the "locked" or "hold" position.
I believe this is a software issue, and after downloading the latest software, it has made my IPod non-functional.

My friends iPhone locked up after he forgot his password. He gave it to me because I usually fix iDevices around my school. Well, I thought it would be a simple fix but his power button is jammed. I can't enter recovery mode to restore. I tried using tinyumbrella to enter recovery mode but it isn't detecting his iPhone. I need help. Please

When the iPhone turns OFF due to battery running down, open iTunes on computer, hold down Home button and keep holding while connecting iPhone to computer, keep holding until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode (this should take less than 20 seconds of holding down home button), then click Restore button of iTunes.

I cannot find my pictures in iphoto after downloading and delating from memory card....

I downloaded my pictures from memory card, and once it was done, iphoto asked me if I wanted to keep the pictures into the memory cart, I pressed no, and now I cannot find my pictures anywhere... Is there a way to find them back ?

Are they in last import?
do not use your memory card until you resolve this - you may want to use software like Media Recover to recover the images on the card
You can try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database
For the future a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

Check to make sure the iPhoto Advanced preferences are set to copy photos into the library when importing, i.e. a "managed" library:
If it is and you don't see any thumbnail in the Event they should be in apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you are unable to get iPhoto to recover the photos MediaRECOVER can be used on the memory card to recover the photos as long a they haven't been overwritten. It will run in demo mode so you can see if it will recover the photo before you have to purchase it.

Where is the camera icon on the lock screen after downloading ios5

I completed the download of ios5 and I believe there is supposed to be a small camera icon on the lock screen so I can take a photo without having to unlock the phone. I did see it right after the download but it has since disappeared. Anyone know how to get it back?

Windows Server 2003 locks account after 1 attempt

I originally posted this question on the Windows compatibility forum last week, but as I have received no response, I thought I would try here.
We have four PowerMac G5s in an organization running Windows throughout. We use the same Windows 2003 and Exchange server as the PC users.
Whenever we log in to Exchange (using Entourage 2004) or any of the server volumes (using SMB), we only get one chance at entering our password correctly. If we enter our password incorrectly, our account gets locked and we have to phone IT to get them to reset it.
Also, when IT ask us to reset our passwords, we have to go to their desk and set a new password from their PC - surely there must be a way of doing that from our Macs.

Binding to AD will mean that you log into the Mac using Active Directory credentials instead of loacl credentials, and then having to input usernames and passwords when you try to access network resources.
It's quite common where Mac knowledge is limited to not bind as the IT staff perceive it to be simpler. If you were to bind to AD you wouldn't have to authenticate for network resources as you would already be logged in with those details. You also would elimate the lockout issue, as you would attempt a single authentication on login, and not multiples, so you would have 3 chances to log into the Mac prior to lockout, but would never have to reauthenticate to use email or network shares.
Ask the IT guys if they can play around with the mini and see if they can better integrate your Macs (it will simplify their lives too!). Lead them to Applications --> Utilites --> Directory Access!

My computer locked up after downloading the iTunes update

I downloaded the update from iTunes and now my computer is locked up.

Have you done a "hard reboot"? Press the power button and hold for 5-10 seconds till it shuts down and restart.
Worst case, unplug it. Let it set for 30 seconds, plug it back in and boot it up.

Open Pictures folder and move the files named lrcat-journal and lrcat.lock to Desktop.
Make sure that , they are not inside Pictures folder any more and try to open backup from Lighrtroom and check..
Any LRcat file with .lock extension , move it to Desktop.

HT4623 after downloading the new update today my phone will not come back on, all it shows is the itune logo and a picture of the plug in, I cant receive any calls nor go to any screens. HELP

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb. This is also affecting AppleTV downloads
I am using Virgin Media as my ISP, and was wondering whether you do as well. This might be the common thread.

This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".
This did not work because the correct date was greyed out. Restore key was greyed out.
