My Pixma 922 makes a scratchy sound when printing

Why does my Pixma 922 make a scratchy sound when printing?  It just started today, and I have cleaned the rollers, the bottom tray (which is the only tray I use), I have aligned the printer heads, and unclogged the cartridges.  I have troubleshooted the printer and it states all is okay?  Nothing is wrong with the printing images and no half printed testing pages.
Assistance please and any ideas will be marvelous!

Hi 4Adonai,
There is a setting the in the printer driver that may resolve this issue, "Prevent Paper Abrasion".  To enable this, please follow these steps:
 1.  Click on Start and then Control Panel.
 2.  Click on Printers.
 3.  Right click the PIXMA MX922 and left click on Printing Preferences.
 4.  Click on the Maintenance tab.
 5.  Click on the Custom Settings button.
 6.  Place a checkmark next to Prevent Paper Abrasion.
 7.  Click OK.
 8.  Click Apply (if available) and then OK.
Attempt to print.  The noise should be gone when printing.

  • My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in.

My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in. The ipod doesnt turn on when I plug it into the wall, even if I let it charge, and itunes won't recognize it. I have tried to reset it with the home and power buttons. Whats wrong and how can I fix it? I think it might be the memory or the battery. What could the clicking sound be related to? Thanks

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
After that I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

You should take it to an Apple store or an AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) Carefully inspect the hinge joint and make sure there is no debris that you can see, you can try carefully sliding some sticky tape thru the joint to clear any loose stuff out. But this sounds like there might be more going on here, and the hinge is something that you do not want to fool with.

  • MacBook makes new whoosh sound when opening

MacBook makes a new sound when I open the cover..... Like a woosh, which it never used to do before.  Is there any way to turn off?

I sent my MBP13 to Apple for repair. The tech indicated that the hinges were lubricated and tightened....and the sound still exists. Atleast I have it documented in the event there is any type of failure. Candidly I'm guessing that one of the magnets is loose as the noise does not occur when the laptop lid is closed.
If this was my MBP, I'd return it and ask them to fix it correctly, and if they can't, ask about a replacing it (I would miss it while it was gone, but I'd still be able to work on one of my other Macs. If you can't afford the time without it, your situation might be different; obviously that's your call.)

  • How do I get my I-pad Air to not make a "doonk" sound when charging?

How do I get my I-pad Air to not make a "doonk" sound when charging?

Actually, you can turn the sound off by muting system sounds. Read this.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13" makes a scraping sound when waking up.

MacBook Pro Retina 13" 2,6 Ghz 128 Flash storage started to make a short, mechanical, scraping sound when waking up from sleep. The noise seems to come from the right hand corner next to the trackpad. Did this anybody deal with something like that?

There are no moving parts in your Mac, take it to an Apple Store and ask them.

  • Scratchy sound when playing a .mov file in QuickTime

I just got a new camcorder (Insignia NS-DV1080P) and took a video that is about 33 minutes long. I uploaded it to my mac, into iphoto, and when I try and play it in QuickTime, the picture is great, but it is very scratchy sounding. When I plug the camcorder directly into my tv, the sound is fine. When I play it back from the camcorder, the sound is fine. Please help with what I am doing wrong and how I can fix this.

What I have always done is to add a Build In of Start Movie automatically after transition. Then add a Build Out of Stop Movie and adjust the delay to fit the timing of the movie. There are two problems with this technique.
First, the delay can only go up to 60 seconds. So if you have a longer movie, you need to add a shape, set the fill and line to none and then add build ins and build outs (or actions) to equal the time needed to fit the length of the movie. For example, if you have a 3 minute movie, you can set the build out for 60 seconds, but then need to add 2 minutes worth of other actions to fill the time, so the build out happens at the end of the movie.
The other problem is that if your movie is exactly 96 seconds and you have 96 seconds of builds, it might not still quite end right at the same time. There seems to be a bit of difference in the time from the movie and the builds. So you might have to play with the delays a little to get it to work just right.
    Hope that helps.

  • Screen makes small clicking sound when touched???

sometimes, but not always, my screen on the iPhone 3GS makes a small "clicking" sound when touched. It's not a big deal, but sometimes can be annoying.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I don't want to go to the apple store because I've already done 3 replacements for other reason and want to avoid another. what could be wrong and causing the "clicking" I noticed if I put pressure on the frame, basically squeeze it, the clicking goes away. either something is rubbing or loose.
Anybody else ever experience this? Is there a way to fix it?

I believe that the safest option would be to go to the Apple store...
I understand that it is not great to replace the phone again ....restoring from backup takes forever

  • Scratchy Sound When Sliding Through Covers in Cover Flow View in iTunes 8

Anyone having problems with a scratchy sound as you slide through covers in the cover flow view in iTunes 8?
Also sliding too fast has caused app to crash.

The scratchy sound seems to have come up a few times with iTunes 8 (including in a couple of other threads that I can't find right now). It seems to have picked up around the last QT update, which was coincident with the iTunes upgrade.
    (post updated)
I must admit, I didn't read closely at 7:30 in the morning, and didn't see this was just happening to OP with cover flow.
But there have been a number of people (including me) complaining of general scratchiness in iTunes 8 and AirTunes that seems traceable to the last QT update. Be glad you aren't in my situation, where it's ALWAYS scratchy.

  • Nano6 makes whir/spin sound when plugged in

Last week i had a white screen, but the ipod still worked. i put the ipod in a cup of rice and left it alone for 6days. today i tried to charge it (the battery is drained), but the ipod feels sort of hot and it makes a faint, but distinct screech/buzz/whir sound.
    any ideas?

i jog daily, and lots of other joggers were advertised that the ipod nano6 is great for exercise; it's not, and the internet is full of complaints. the sweat/water damage can be alleviated with rice (to help dry the product). it helped the ipod turn on now (my last one broke entirely without any rice) but now it makes the whir sound.

  • Hindge makes a clicking sound when I press down

If I press down on the right side of the hindge, it makes a clicking sound. Is this normal? My 1 year warranty expires in April so I want to get his fixed if it's an issue.
    thanks.

It is not normal.  dominic23 is correct, have it looked at.  There exists the possibility there may be future problems in the display connection.  (much annoyance, grief and frustration not to mention monetary outlay.)
    Ciao.

  • MX 922 - "no paper" (but full) when printing from SOME applications

I CAN print from my ipad "notes" application. I CANNOT print from a web page or my photos. The MX 922 says it is out of paper - BUT IT ISN'T. I don't get this error when printing from my ipad "notes" ap. I am frustrated and about to take it back to Costco.

    Hi djh,
Please place paper in the upper cassette, making sure that the small size photo paper such as 4" x 6" (10 x 15 cm) or 5" x 7" (13 x 18 cm), or Hagaki are loaded.
Please note that if you cut plain paper into small size such as 4" x 6" (10 x 15 cm) or 5" x 7" (13 x 18 cm) and try to print on it, the paper jam will occur.
Once the paper is in place, align the paper guides with the both edges of the paper and the press the OK button.
    Please attempt to print.
