My playbook is not working!!

Yesterday I want to reset my playbook because the first person sign in was my classmate and I wanted to sign in in my name, so I reset after a while the screen showed up the blackberry icon with different colors.. but it was stay on that display for several minutes.. so i press the power botton off, and then the display dissappeared and after a few minutes i pressed the power on, but only the blackberry icon with different colors appears and not able to progress.
please help!!

LEAVE it connected to the wall outlet charger (not the USB > PC charger).
Leave it connected for 24 hours... every 3-5 hours, press and hold the power button only for about 20 seconds. Eventually it will boot on up, but first must reach a certain charge level.
You will see the blinking red and perhaps yellowish LED light, and perhaps a symbol on screen of "no battery". That means the battery is drained, but it must reach a certain charge before powering on.
if it continues to ONLY stay on the logo screen, you'll need to use the debrick process:
You need to follow these instructions to "debrick" your PlayBook:
1. Do a backup of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software version 7 installed. It can be downloaded from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
2. After the backup is finished, unplug the PlayBook and on the PlayBook press and hold down the power button until the unit forces the device off.
3. With the Desktop Software still open on your computer and the PlayBook powered off, connect the PlayBook to your computer once again. Press the power button for 20 seconds.
4. You should see an error screen from Desktop Software popup with the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
Very quickly choose the Update option.
5. All information will on your PlayBook will be erased and a reload of the Software will commence to install on the PlayBook.
6. Once this is complete your PlayBook will go back through the initial (as if new) setup wizard (entering the BlackBerryID, etc., and then you can perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your personal data from the backup. Applications which you downloaded from AppWorld won't restore, but they can be easily reinstalled using AppWorld > MyWorld section of AppWorld.

  • BB Playbook Touch Not Working

After recovering from the battery's deep drain level error . I got a new one , this time it's touch is not working or I say it's partially working . I don't know where but it works on certain places . Before the battery's error it was working even when the front glass plate was cracked but now it's not , can anybody tell me what am I supposed to do  ??

I donloaded tablet software through desktop manager many times all night (each one takes a good 10 minutes) and unfortunately they all ended up with error. I recieved 2 times a more interesting error:
A Fatal error has occurred while updating your device’s software. Please try again
The touch screen is still irresponsive. Buttons are working. Playbook restarts to "choose your language" screen every time without problems.
I even tried to disable PC's power save feature on USB ports (some forum had mentioned it as a solution for a blackberry with similar problems-not playbook)
    WHat will I do now?

  • Playbook WiFi not working - need help please

    Looking for some help.
All available WiFi networks are greyed out, and I am unable to connect to any of them.  I enter my pass word and get "Attempt 1of 3; Associated with network.  Waiting for Authorization.", and then each attempt fails.  I know I am using the correct password, and other wireless devices are able to connect to these networks, including another Playbook, but not my Playbook.
I have tried deleting the saved network profile, I have tried turning the wifi on and off, I have tried a hard reset.  I have tried connecting manually.  I can see the network has bars, but they are greyed out.
    Thoughts?  Help?

Happens to me occasionally, mostly on some public WiFi networks, sometimes at home. Usually rebooting helps solve the problem.

  • Playbook does not work with battery

    Hi
My playbook works only when used with a charger but the battery remains red at zero percent.
Does that mean that the battery is dead or can be another problem?
    Thanks
    Ps
    No warranty

A couple of things to try. First you need to be using an original BB PB charger, it has a higher output than even a BB phone charger. If you look at the battery icon and see what looks like a lightning bolt across the battery it's charging. Leave it this way for up to 10 hours and sees if it charges up. If you're not using a PB charger you need to get one or another charger that when plugged into the PB turns on the lightning bolt icon. If the icon is only a plug icon it will never charge the PB fully. With it plugged in you can try a restart after it's been plugged in for overnight which will reset the battery icon if it's messed up but don't do this unless you have it plugged in and it shows the lightning bolt.

  • New PlayBook update 2.0.0.7971 not working properly

The new update on blackberry PlayBook is not working properly.  The video store and podcasts are erroneously restricted to Puerto Rico, a US territory.  Please do something ASAP.

    Hi,
This is defenitely strange - if you click on the "Login" link, you should be prompted for the plain vanilla SSO Username & Password. I have faced this problem infrequently only in Netscape 7.1.
Did you try clearing the Browser Cache ? Which is the browser you are using ?

  • Adhoc wifi does not work on playbook but works on ipad

I bought several playbooks for my employees to use with our company phone which have adhoc wifi
the playbooks do not connect. My one employee said she could hook up her personal ipad to the adhoc.
Please tell me they are working on fixing this problem.
If I have to change all my cell phone plans to data plans it will cost quite a bit over the years.
In fact it would be cheaper to buy all new ipads. I would break even within two years.
The reason I bought the playbooks was because of the size and value.
But the value just decreased because of the adhoc inabilities.
I understand there is a security issue but that should be the consumers choice to make.

Just a comment about your remarks especially the last sentence.
As a Business Person, don't you feel you should use a secure system if you are handling consumers personal information such as passwords, account numbers etc. Are not hackers costing all of us plenty in the long run?

  • HELP - BBM does not work on Playbook (Bridged)

    Hi Folks,
Looked into other threads but all problems seem to be related to older versions.
I am new to the whole Blackberry Lifestyle.
Currently own, Playbook (wireless) and Torch 9860 for about two weeks - enjoying them independently.
    ANY HELP would be appreciated.
Just tried the Bridge function but the BBM does not work.
It is funny cause my Playbook does get a notification for any BBM I receive, the remote works, the contacts can be seen on playbook but when I click on BBM notification it I get a message "Your Version of Blackberry Messenger is not compatible with Blackberry Bridge. Download the latest version of BBM to use it on your playbook.
I did what I normally do - googled it. Found out the specs and I do have all updated apps.
    On my 9860 I have
    7.1.0 System
    Bridge 2.0.0.35
    BBM 6.1.0.55
This is not linked to BES or anything - purely personal.
I have already restarted my phone and playbook with no luck.
I am new, so not sure of the difference between stuff like hard set, shutdown etc  etc or other technical terms - so would appreciate if you assume that I am a complete dummy.

Hi playbookfun and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Have you tried updating to the latest version of BBM™?  If not, I would recommend trying that by going to www.blackbery.com/bbm from your BlackBerry® Browser.
    Thanks.

  • Playbook after upgrading to 2.1.0.1917 WIFI is not working anymore

    Good day to All!
I really need help on how to resolve my issue on Playbook OS 2.1.0.1917.
After the OS updated to 2.1.0.1917 the WIFI is not working anymore. I did some work around but still not working.
I have tried to factory reset the Device but the device unable to proceed in setting up the WIFI because like i said its not detecting any WIFI connection around me at all.
Please help me on how to fix this issue. I hoping that someone will be able to help me regarding this issue.
Note: Done with the following work around.
    -Changing router
    -Unsuccessful downgrade the OS version.
    -resetted the device
-NOW i cant even us the playbook.
Please let me know how to fix everything to back to normal...
Thanks in advance for the help....
    Cheers!!!

You said you used every way...  there are only 3 ways..  usb from cumputer cable...  standard wall charger through USB connection ( Mini USB port ) and the Magnetic quick charger which is the same as the quick charger docking station..   if the USB Mini port is  no longer valid ( look forward to that being the condition if not now , then soon )  this would be a result.   USB port is a slow charge anyways...  not the proper solution...  EVER.   The more use the USB mini mort gets the sooner it will be a non viable option...  should ONLY be used tor Balckberry Desktop conection use...
Let us all know if this is the case..   you can buy an Magnetic quick charger or docking station ( which is pretty cool ) on e bay for 8 or 9 dollars..  Let us know how long you have had this unit and if you think you have abused the USB connection port... once you get the magnetic 3 pin connector to charge the unit.

  • Playbook requires me to pay for support when it did not work from the beginning and they could not fix.

lack of email app- makes this may purchase virtually useless. because
cant bridge with my bb 9700. maybe twice after deleting from both, and rebridging, i got connections. i cant spend an hour bridging every time. since may this is unfixable. the support people cant fix it after dozens of hours. got lots.of emails from them though. asking if i was resolved. when i answered no, they asked me to do it all again. they have no fix for this.
can type documents, but cant email them to anybody. same with excel. no way to attach documents when the bridge doesnt work.
i am a ceo,and i am moving my entire organization off bb becuase of this.
have spent many many hours from the beginning in may, and now they want me to pay a 129 dollar fee to get support when it has not worked right from the beginning.
i bought an ipad today and i am absolutely blown away by how much better it is in every single way. dozens of bbs are going away now.
slow, no.email, locks up all the time, stand by button restarts tablet, no bridging without total reload on both devices. why would i go through this anymore? it is costing my business a fortune with myself and my people trying to make the playbook work.
we will get ipads and make more money.
i have tried to stay loyal to bb, but after being told i have to pay for support
when i did once get a connection through bridge, reply locked up everytime on an email. could not type.

I would like to add my support to this comment.
Strike 1) Bridging a BB 9700 with a PB is flaky at best. Even if you run the very latest software on both, it does not work properly. This is NOT a user issue but a programme/application issue. RIM software running on RIM hardware and O/S and NOT being able to connect properly = RIM fault.(see my other post: My Bridge connects, it exchanges data like passwords, number of unread emails and my playbook notifies me when someone calls my BB, but it does NOT unlock)
Strike 2) All this used to work fine during the 90d grace suport period (apart from the flaky bluetooth issue that required a hard reboot of the BB whenever the connection was broken in a bad way)
Strike 3) Now, after a PB OS upgrade (which I faithfully applied), several phone upgrades (due to another problem) and the latest Bridge application install, it all doesn't work anymore, 100 days after I bought the flipping thing. so I have a fancy ebook reader, not the productivity enhancing tool I can use on the go.
So now I am stuck with a forum that can't help, a technical database that does not contain this support information and a broken RIM application on RIM Hardware and O/S that I paid a lot of money for. And now they want more to look at this incident????? I am sorry but if this was a problem caused by usage, configuration or any other user error, I could understand it. But this is all completely in RIMs ballpark. I have done everything right. It connects. It just DOES NOT WORK!!!!!
As I said in my other post, an evaluation of the PB in my company is ongoing as a possible management tool by people I know quite well, as I work in the area, but my advice would definitely be to stay away until basic functionality like emails, attachments, calendars etcetera are all suitably solved and usable by the average manager with sausage fingers and no clue about bluetooth, hard reboots and who won't be able to hold down the power, + & - buttons at the same time as the fingers won't fit!!
So RIM, get your finger out, open up an email support channel or get some qualified support people go through this forum and help those people who have shown faith in your products and who now have real problems with your software and hardware. DONT HIDE BEHIND A STUPID SUPPORT FEE - MAN UP TO YOUR PROBLEMS!!!

  • Bluetooth Keyboard K1280C not working on playbook

I bought a bluetooth keyboard on ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/220982485208?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1851wt_13...
It works on my PC, laptop and iphone, ipad. But not working on my lovely playbook
it stucks at the pairing screen and tell me to enter the number on my keyboard.
I enter the number and no response than
I notice the combination of the number of playbook is "XXX XXX" (with a space between) while my PC iphone are just like"XXXXXXXX" (no space)
Hope this device will be support in the next update. I think playbook still need to improve its buletooth compatitily,

    >A USB keyboard works fine
This is very useful information in order to find out whats wrong here.
I agree with as***: its definitely an internal keyboard problem and keyboard replacement is the one and only solution.
If the notebook is covered by warranty, get in contact with Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
The guys should be able to replace the keyboard free of charge.

  • Adobe Reader Not Working after OS 2 UPGRADE

Hope someone can help with this issue.  Updated to OS 2, but now the Adobe Reader does not work.  Since this was a new device and the upgrade started automatically, I have no idea if Adobe Reader worked in the previous OS version - from the forums, it seem to work.  The shortcut icon is still there but when you click on it,  Adobe Reader opens but is non-functional.  Clicking on a PDF does nothing.  I then tried to uninstall it in My World in Blackberry World Apps.  In the Installed section, it shows Adobe Reader as being installed but I noticed that the Delete button was greyed out so I could not uninstall it for a reinstall.
It was interesting to note that when I tried to find Adobe Reader in BB World Apps, there was no listing for Adobe Reader.
Does anyone else have the same issue?  Hopefully there is a solution for this problem.  Is there another alternative app to Adobe Reader?  Thanks.

Here is a quick test if to check if your Adobe Reader is currently working properly within its current confinement. Open the app and click on ‘Browse’.
If you can browse around, the app is working properly. If you can’t, close Adobe and then open it once more and try to browse.
If you still can’t browse it is time to ‘Restart’ your PB via the battery icon’s ‘Restart’ option.
Once your PB’s main screen loaded again repeat the test. I am sure you can browse now but don’t open a file yet. We need a ‘known’ conforming PDF file.
Now, this might be a bit of a surprise. Not all PDF files are created equally. Therefore, some PDF files can’t be opened by this Adobe Reader’s version without ‘hanging’ the app as indicated by ’not able to browse anymore’.
Please, download a conforming PDF file like the manual for the Playbook and select ‘Download PDF’ from this BB site:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/27018/index.jsp?name=User+Guide+-+BlackB...
Now open Adobe and select the newly downloaded file: “BlackBerry_Playbook_Tablet_User_Guide—“and it should open all 86 pages. Scroll around. This 2nd test verifies that your Adobe Reader is working because this file was created to follow the Microsoft – Adobe agreed upon standard which the PB is following.
So at this point in time we users have to except that some files are non-conforming and that Adobe Reader version 10.0.3 needs an update.  BTW, I couldn’t find Adobe’s security setting in my PB either (this is not a 'fix' for OS 2 users).
Remember, Adobe cannot open files directly if you browse to your smartphone’s Adobe documents even so they might be ‘conforming’. You have to open these files first via File Manager (found on your main screen) so Adobe gets a trusted link which it stores in its hidden “Recent Document' folder. I guess, this link then allows Adobe to open conforming files which are stored in your smartphone the next time you open this linked  Adobef PDF file without the help of the File Manager.
Your question: Is there another alternative app to Adobe Reader? Contributor sohrabza suggested to use an Android app called ‘Repligo’. I looked a bit into this and it is not yet a downloadable PB app unless you know how to a handle a bar file installation in your Playbook together with their Android version. They also make a Repligo version for the BB smartphone so they know RIM. I can’t believe cerience has not readied the Playbook App store download version to get my $4.99. Many users might want to choose this alternative PDF reader once it is available in the BB AppStore but their website does not give a hint if their app approval is pending with RIM.

  • Playbook suddenly stopped working

I have had my playbook since Christmas and yesterday I registered for slacker radio and when I plugged in my headphones, the thing just shut down.  I had about 50% battery left.  I have tried to reboot by pressing all the buttons and holding them for about 10 seconds but that has not worked.  It won't charge either.  The red light does not come on.  The thing is totally dead.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened and a possible fix?
    Thanks
    Susanne

The static shock has been the only thing that has stopped my PlayBook. It has had the static charges before but not like this one. The OS has been very stable on mine but I know there are some Apps that cause problems. Solitaire for instance will freeze occasionally but if I leave it sit there for about a minute it recovers and carries on with the game usually minus a few missing cards.
