My playlists dont appear in my new itunes library (ive changed PC).  All my music does though.  So confused please help!

I have followed the instructions on the apple website to transfer my itunes library to my new PC.  I have done this twice and although all of my music migrates, my playlists do not.  Not sure whats going wrong any help would be greatly appreciated....

Are you copying over the iTunes Library.itl file and other supporting files in the iTunes folder, as well as the media folder iTunes Media? See Make a split library portable for some background.

Itunes was deleted?  Or your itunes library was deleted?
If it was just itunes, then your music should still be there.  Just reinstall itunes.
Otherwise just use your backup copy of your comuter to put everything back.

I want to bring over music from my iTunes library on iMac to an ipod touch with another apple id. please help. Is this possible. In former versions of itunes this was posible. I can't find the solution is iTunes 11

Perhaps those apps require a newer version of iOS than is compatible with your iPod.

  • If I sync my iPhone to a new iTunes library, will it delete all my contacts even if Music is the only thing checked to sync?

So I got a new MBP and want to sync my iPhone 4s to it, however a pop up keeps coming up and warning me that I will delete something.
I only have my music checked to sync but the pop up still appears...
If I sync, will I lose all my contacts, pictures, etc?
    Thank you.

Creating a wholly new AppleID and then using it to set up a new iTunes account will not delete the older AppleID's account history.  It will remain, and remain tied to that AppleID.
The new AppleID and iTunes account will have no history until you start buying apps with it.  ALL of your previous purchases made with the old AppleID remain, forever, with that AppleID.  They cannot be transferred or merged to another AppleID.
Any photos you have are not tied to any AppleID in the first place so will remain on your computer in whatever program you transfer your photo's to.  If you use photostream in iCloud, that is tied to the iCloud account, which in turn is tied to the AppleID used to create the account.  It too cannot be closed, deleted or merged with another.  Photostream only stores photos for 30 days though (it is intended merely to move photos amongst your associated or linked devices - it is not permanent storage), so they will eventually be deleted from that old account.
You could enable photostream on a new iCloud account if you wished to.

  • I have over 5000 songs on my ipod and can not see a way of keeping them if I want to set up a new itunes libary. I want to add my tunes from my ipod to a new itunes libary without it saying it will wipe what I already have. please help

    Hi everyone.
I had an itunes account for my classic and a few months ago wanted to add my daughters ipod to it. it told me when i pluged hers in 2 ipods could not use the same account and asked me if i wanted it to link her ipod and delete the current libary. like a fool i said yes. now i have a party comming up and cant plug my classic in without it saying if i sync it will wipe my 6000 songs and leave me with the new blank itunes that i have just set up.
what i want to do is add my 6000 songs to a new apple id libary/itunes without it wiping all my songs. does anyone know how to do this.
    help thanks

Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.
" it told me when i pluged hers in 2 ipods could not use the same account"
This is not true.  You have misunderstood.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library.

  • Itunes library, im going crazy trying to figure this out...please HELP!!!!!

ok so me and my sister both have ipods and one computer in the house, we listen to very diffrent music, she hates my music i hate hers...so a friend of mine told me that i can make a second library for itunes so that my sister can import her music and download it onto her ipod and i can do it with my music. I just dont want to have music on my ipod that i dont like its really annoying to have to use up that memory with music i dont listen to and having to scroll over all her music so get to mine...is there anyone out there that can help me please...i would really appreciate it if someone out there could give me some kind of solution to this itunes issue...thx!

This method is slow and ridiculous ...
Yep. So don't use it, use the "piano roll" view - you have a lot more control over the lenghts of your notes and the exact beginning. Enter the notes by holding down the Apple key and clicking and dragging (the onscreen keyboard can only be used in "record" mode). Use the same mode to modify imported midi tracks.
There are no solo strings in GB, but you should have a string ensemble and some basic choir.

I've have done all of the tips Apple has suggested and have tried many times to restore it but it still won't work.  IThe first time it went through the whole process and it seemed like it worked but it still showed the Screen that has a iPod power cord that has an arrow pointing to the iTunes thumbnail.  And now i thought well maybe it is restored i just need to sync it to Itunes but no my computer said that i encountered a problem my iPod and that i need to restore it so I tried.  And at the end of the first step, the Verifying Software step, it said that the device "iPod" could not be found, so Itried it again and again but it still came up with the same results so I'm screwed so if you can could you please help me i really need after a disabled iPod for about 2 to 3 months now.  So if you could please help i would appreciate it alot. • Every so often, when I start my iTunes library, it clears out all my music.

It will work for about a week or so, and then I'll get online and all my music will be gone. I don't want to have to keep dumping my music library over and over; it takes too long. HELP!

AVG is the most likely culprit. They have promised a patch, but you'll still need to repair your library yourself.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Whatever AV you use I would recommend excluding the iTunes folder from any real time AV scanning process, however it would seem that AVG isn't currently obeying such exceptions.

  • Itunes library doesn't show all the music on the ipod

Hello, My daughter's ipod version 6.1.6 shows that there should be 800 songs on her device. We plugged into the pc and the itunes menu showed this but when you go to the ipod itself and access the information that is on the ipod in the About section on the device it shows that it has only 197 songs on it. so what do i do to get the 800 back onto the ipod. thanks for the help

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • How do I sync my old ipod to my "new" iTunes library without losing the music I already have loaded onto my iPod?

Hi, so I got my new computer loaded up with iTunes and I want to be able to move my music from my old iPod to my new iTunes library without losing any of the music I already have placed on the iPod. How would I do this? And please I'm not too savvy with the new iTunes layout and such so if you could make this easy in layman's terms that would be great.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you purchased all songs in the iTunes Store, plug your iPod to your Mac or PC and iTunes will ask you to transfer purchases.
If you didn't purchase any song or you have non-purchased songs from the iTunes Store, you have to use an application to transfer the songs to iTunes. Here is a list of applications you can use for that > https://discussions.apple.com/message/11319208#11319208

  • My laptop recently crashed and had to be restored back to it's original factory settings. I lost my entire iTunes library and have had to start from scratch again. Is it possible to load everything i currently have on my iphone4 into my new iTunes library

When i connect my iphone to the new iTunes library it tells me that it's going to erase everything on my iphone and upload everything from the new iTunes library onto it. Is there a way to save everything on my phone into the new iTunes library?

Thanks for all of your advice.
I just downloaded a copy of TuneJack for the small price of $9.95.
It retrieved all my music from my iphone and loaded it all straight into my iTunes library for me all at a click of a button and only took a few minutes.
Problem solved I can stop stressing now!

  • How do I transfer ipad files to a new itunes library?

Hello, my itunes library was destroyed when my harddrive failed.  I still have data on my ipad, but do not know how to transfer it to a new itunes library on my mac (snow leopard).  I found several applications that claim to do just this and more for a fee, but I don't think that it is reasonable to pay for this simple function.  Apparently it is a relatively simple proceedure on a PC.
    Cheers,
    Cormac

It is just as easy on a Mac if you know what to do. Authorize the computer first - launch iTunes and go to Store>Authorize this Computer from the iTunes menu.
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
You may need a third party app to transfer the music and pohtos back to the iTunes library. Remember that all purchased music, apps and TV shows can be downloaded again for free (in the U.S.)

  • Syncing to new Itunes library

    Hi,
I recently had to wipe my laptop due to hard disk failure. Obviously due to this I was not able to back up my itunes library. I have all my music and movies backed up onto my external hard drive. But my applications are not backed up. In order to sync anything to my iphone the pc wants me to erase and sync to this library.
This is not an issue for my music or movies but my applications as I say are not backed up anywhere... is there any way I can not lose my applications and move my Iphone over to this new library?
    Thanks in advance.

First, in iTunes Preferences on the Device tab disable automatic syncing.
Next, make sure the computer is authorized on the same account as the iPhone. Then connect the phone. After it is recognized go to the File menu and choose "Transfer Purchases from..."
This will copy your apps from the phone to iTunes. If this doesn't work you can redownload the apps you have purchased without paying for them again (unlike music and videos).
BTW, if you do a full backup of the iTunes folder it will back up apps also.
