My podcast episodes went missing

Hi there,
I started my podcast on Jan. 9th. I've had 6 episodes go live so far, including one that went out this morning. The address to my show is here; https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/gay-business-marketing-made/id590805999
Today when I went in all of my episodes are missing. I don't know why or how it happened. They are still working on my website and they're all still hosted correctly.
Does anyone know why this would happen and how I can get them back up?
Thanks!
Jenn

iTunes is using the feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/gaybusinessandmarketing
This feed has no 'enclosure' tags containing the URLs of playable media: iTunes does not display episodes which have no playable media. Since you had it working you've evidently done something wrong in WordPress which has stopped it being a proper podcast feed; or possibly you've managed to point Feedburner at the wrong feed - the blog feed rather than the podcast feed. There is no clue in your web page as to the feed - the only link is to http://feeds.feedburner.com/JennTGrace which appears to be identical and again has no 'enclosure' tags.
I'm afraid I can't advise on WordPress - you will need to work out what it was you did originally.

  • My older podcast episodes are missing on iTunes.

Just noticed last week that my nine oldest podcast episodes are no longer on itunes. They're alive and well on my blog page so I'm nor sure what happened. Did I reach some magical quota on iTunes? I have no clue how to resubmit or do any of that stuff. Thanks for any help!

iTunes imposes no limit (at least up to 300). Many podcast creation programs or services limit the number of episodes in the feed, removing older ones when this limit is reached. There is usually a setting to increase this number.
However there might be other reasons; but it's not really possible to comment unless you would like to publish the URLs of both your feed and the Store page - this latter can be found by control-clicking on the podcast image (or where it should be) - and choosing 'Copy link'.  Please include the http:// in both cases to make the links clickable.

  • My podcast Episodes are missing!

    hi,
I have a podcast on itunes and just published 5 new episodes. So, there should be a total of 9 episodes; however, my 4 previous episodes are gone.
here is the link to my podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/bharatanatyam-podcast/id547089247
I am using iweb to publish my podcast. On my iweb website (http://www.kiruparatneswaran.com/Laya_Bhava_Dance_Academy/Bharatanatyam_PodCast/ Bharatanatyam_PodCast.html), it shows that there are 9 episodes.

For references your feed is at
    http://www.kiruparatneswaran.com/Laya_Bhava_Dance_Academy/Bharatanatyam_PodCast/ rss.xml
This feed contains the same 5 episodes you are seeing in the Store. In common with many podcast creation services or programs, iWeb limits the number of episodes in the feed - the default in iWeb is five. As more episodes are added older episodes are moved to an archive page and removed from the feed.
You can increase the number of episodes in the feed to a maximum of 50:
Increase the number where shown and re-publish the feed. Subscribers will see the extra episodes immediately but the Store will take a couple of days or so to catch up.
When you get to 50 episodes the same thing will happen and in iWeb you can't increase it (the Store allows up to 300 episodes).

  • Re-downloading podcast episodes to fix missing files?

I had a number of podcast episodes stored on an external drive that died. Now these episodes show up in iTunes with a gray exclamation point next to them, because iTunes can't find the corresponding files. I'd like to fix this problem by having iTunes re-download the missing episodes (since most are still available from the podcast server), but I can't seem to find a way to do this. Any advice?
(Note that iTunes still "remembers" some metadata about the episodes, such as whether I've watched/listened to the episode or not, ratings, etc. I would like to retain this information. That's why I haven't just deleted the podcast and re-subscribed.)
    Thanks!

I just found a solution to this issue today. Try the following:
Delete the problematic file(s) in iTunes.
Close the podcast directory by clicking on the enclosing triangle.
Reopen the podcast using the Option key and clicking on triangle.
Missing podcasts will now appear with the "Get" flag.
    Hope that works for you.
    best regards

  • First podcast episode missing from search

    Newbie here...
iTunes is missing my first episode 'Beginning'.  When I first submitted the show it showed up fine.  If you subscribe to the show you get the first episode but if you just search for the show (The QuoteSpoke Podcast) it is missing the first episode.  Any advice is appreciated.  My show and RSS info is available below.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

Under neath the list of episodes, the Store says '4 items'. I'm afraid you've fallen over a long-standing intermittent bug in the Store which does this sort of thing. It's not a problem with your feed, and there isn't anything you can do about it. It will probably sort itself out in a few days.

  • ITunes 8 -  podcast count includes missing podcast episodes

In iTunes 8 (under podcasts tab) most of my podcasts seem to have disappeared, but they are still included in the episode count for each show. For example, iTunes says I have 20 episodes of MacBreak Weekly, and 3 not-listened to, but only one episode displays when I click the icon to open MacBreak Weekly. The counts are probably about correct for the number of podcasts I previously had, but where are all the missing podcast episodes, and why are they counted if they are not there? I couldn't find anyone else posting this problem.
    Any ideas?

I am also having the same issue. The count shows what I expect it to show, but the list is missing podcasts. If I dig into the file system, the Podcasts are there, but no matter what, I can not get them to show in Itunes8

  • After apple tv software update 5.1, the ff went missing -- photostream, podcast, radio

That is the link for the same topic. The fix for this issue is to perform a system factory restore in "settings"...scroll down until you see restore & choose factory system restore...The Apple TV will restore itself with all icons in the menu & will be running the latest software 5.1.
I did this yesterday & it worked perfectly.
I think the issue is happening from apple TV's which have received older updates that are not compatible with the latest update or it is just a glitch that happens...

  • Missing Podcast Episodes

    Hi
On our Podcast page the first four episodes are missing. We have 25 total episodes but only 20 are showing. Please help.
    http://therizzoliandislespodcast.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

The URL you give for the feed redirects to
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheRizzoliAndIslesPodcast
and this is the feed iTunes is using.
Your Store page is at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-rizzoli-and-isles-podcast/id481430382
There are 24 episodes in the feed, in the Store, and visible when subscribing, so I can see no missing episodes.

  • Half podcast episodes missing

Only half of my podcast episodes are turning up in iTunes - I think this is because Feedburner isn't picking up on them (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThePilgrimsPodcast). I may be past some maximum information limit. Is there some way to either filter my blog feed to only include posts with podcast audio (like, instead of plugging in the website's URL - plug in the URL for a blogger label)? Or should I figure out another hosting service?
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-pilgrims-podcast/id942105067?mt=2

Your feed has seven episodes with playable media, and these show in iTunes (episodes 7 to 13). It also has numerous episodes which have no playable media, and these are not shown in iTunes. There are 25 episodes in all.
The feed has been originally constructed in Blogger, and if you were expecting to see older episodes in it, it's likely that Blogger is limiting you to 25 episodes shown in the feed, older ones being moved to an archive page and out of the feed - something that many services do.
Of course if you are going to mix weblog and podcast episodes in the same feed then this sort of thing is going to happen. Neither Feedburner nor Blogger can detect the difference. It's better to keep the podcast episodes in their own separate feed. However there may be a setting in Blogger to allow you to include more episodes. The iTunes Store doesn't impose a limit until you get to 301.

  • How do I delete a podcast episode in itunes 11?

I typically download podcast episodes in iTunes and then sync them with my phone. I listen to the podcasts on my iPhone and then delete them when done. I have been doing this for years. Now, I cannot figure out how to delete the individual episodes from my podcasts in iTunes 11. What am I missing?

    You and me both!
I started out with an Apple+ way back when.  We came back from Christmas vacation to a faculty meeting where an AEA (Area Education Agency) employee was to introduce us to this new BIG DEAL - computers!
Afterward, the math/science people the superintendent expected to get so excited took a walk while his ENGLISH department learned to type 10 HELLO, etc. until you got a document window open and could enter text, AND CORRECT IT, causing it to print out WITHOUT mistakes.  My typing skills were non-existent, so I went to the elementary teachers and borrowed a program they used to introduce students in second grade to the keyboard.  (I was a jr./sr. high school teacher, and nobody could figure out why I'd never been taught to type.
    Sigh.
I SURE HOPE THEY GET OVER THIS MESS IN A HURRY!  I want to go back to i-Tunes 10+ whatever I was at, but Lion won't let me dump i-Tunes, as it is part of the OS.  BUMMER!
Most of all I hate the sneaky way they introduced this, just like it was a regular upgrade, not something that would ruin our work methods of many year's standing and giving us NOTHING to replace it with short of scrolling down through 1700+ podcasts.  UCK!

  • ITune will no longer download podcast episodes

Okay, as the subject line said, I can't no longer download any podcast episode.  This started to happen after I updated my Norton software last weekend.  Now I can't play any episodes that were downloaded before the Norton update.  I can still "grab" new episodes, but they show up with an exclamation mark right next to them as if the file hasn't been downloaded, but I can stream those files as if I am listening to internet radio.  Obviously, I can't import those new episodes to my iPod because they aren't downloaded files.  Also, my entire library of music are no longer playable in iTune as well.  As of now, the only thing iTune is good for on my computer is listening to podcast episodes through internet streaming.  I'm running a Window Vista 32-bit system.  Help, anyone?

I'm having this exact same problem. Here's how it happened for me:
I was in my house about to leave waiting for someone, and it dawned on me to download some new or recent episodes of a podcast. I went into the Podcast app and started them, and then locked my device thinking that the episodes would be downloading. Little did I know they weren't on my wifi for some reason. I found this out when the person I was waiting for was ready to leave so we could go somewhere and I unlocked my phone in the car. At that point I switched over to LTE and the oldest of these 3 episodes I wanted to download started downloading and was completed in seconds. When it got to the other 2 remaining episodes, they both just had the status of "Preparing to download..." With the loading wheel that tells you how much has been downloaded at 0%. Still right now it's like this. Could this just be an issue with LTE, the podcast, or any of iTunes podcasts as a whole?

  • Can't download podcast episodes over cellular data

I am running the current ios software and have the current Apple Podcast app installed. Since updating to 7.0.4 and installing the current app version, I now am having issues with downloading podcast episodes using cellular data specifically. You try and download an episode and it just freezes and then says "download error, tap to retry". You then get a massive popup saying "unable to download podcast" and underneath this, it says the podcast episode "could not be downloaded at this time". This happens not just with one specific podcast. I have tried everything I can think of and that Apple have suggested. I have:
    - Unsubscribed then resubscribed to podcasts I have seen this issue with
    - Closed out of the app and gone back in
    - Ensured at all times I have been attempting this, that cellular data has been on for podcasts
    - Switched cellular data off for podcasts and as a whole then I have switched back on
    - Done a hard reset of the phone
    - Deleted the Podcast app itself, reinstalled and then tried to download an episode over cellular data
    - Reset Network Settings
    - Performed a full restore of the device
After doing the restore, I set the phone up as new and then installed just the podcast app and was able to download an episode over cellular data. I then restored my data from backup and then all of a sudden, I had the same issue again. I did another reset of the network settings and then the issue went away. The issue has returned yet again today. I called Apple to advise and they say they will investigate and get back to me.
Has anyone else had this issue and have you managed to find a permanent solution? When I am on wifi, I don't have this issue at all. I attempted to download another app and a song from itunes over 3G and had no issues. As such, I can only conclude there must either be an issue with the app itself or ios7.0.4 has done some damage here. I like to download my podcasts on the train to work so don't always have the ability to download over 3G.
    A very annoying issue!

I am having same problem, except mine is a movie rental on 3rd gen ipad wifi. It seems like this problem has been occuring for quite a few years and apple cant be bothered to fix it. It is really annoying because none of the fixes work. My movie is 99% downloaded and i cant play it or delete or retry the download. Its gona be a few months before anyone from apple decides to post to this thread anyway. Its a real shame. In the apple store not one "genius" cud help with this either.

  • ITunes 7 attempting to sync all Podcast episodes regardless of selection

I don't know if it's just me, but iTunes 7 seems to be ignoring which podcast episodes I have selected to sync and which I haven't, instead attempting to sync them all then erroring. I can get it to work if I only sync new episodes, but I like to keep favorites of previous 'casts as well. Is this an annoying functionality change, a bug, or did I just miss a change in how to achieve my previous configuration?
*Also wanted to add that this now removes partially played podcasts since they're no longer "unplayed", and the "10 most recent/unplayed" options means I can't load whole podcast books anymore.

I've got a separate thread running on this, which Derek also replied on (thanks for posting in both, Derek):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=637811&tstart=0
The solution Mark found is not working for me. After disabling "manually manage" to enable "sync checked", and then re-enabling "manually manage", it at first appears like "sync checked" will stay enabled. But after hitting the Apply button, "sync checked" turns off again.

  • ITunes isn't picking up my latest podcast episode, though it's showing up in the RSS feed.

I had to delete the latest blog post on my site with my most recent podcast episode because something was wrong with the audio file. I deleted the entire blog post and the episode disappeared from iTunes--all good so far.
When I re-posted everything (blog post title was slightly different, but the filename for the linked .mp3 file was the same), it never showed up in iTunes (24 hours later at the moment), although it's showing up in the RSS feed.
Any ideas why the new episode isn't showing up in iTunes?
    This is me (us): http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/love-this-movie-hate-this-film/id393761573
The latest episode should be "730 Days Later: Anniversary Special" from this blog post: http://lovethismoviehatethisfilm.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/730-days-later-anniver sary-special/
    Thanks!

The latest episode does not have have an 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of an mp3 or other media file, so iTunes will not show the episode.
There is an mp3 file linked to in the web page, and in the 'content:encoded' tag, which iTunes does not read, but though the other episodes are OK you have evidently missed out a step in WordPress.I can't advise on that, but whatever you did before to get the file into the feed is what you need to do here.

  • Err = 39 when attempting to download a podcast episode

I get err = 39 when attempting to load a podcast episode.    I have previously succesfully downloaded other episodes of this podcast.    It seems that the episode is partially downloaded but I cannot resume satisfactorily.    Is there a temp file or something I can delete to restart the download from scratch.?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Yes there is.
Go to the iTunes download folder; on Windows XP it is My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads/ so in Windows 7 I guess it will be a folder named Downloads in the same folder as the artists.
Anyway, once you find the folder, in it there should be another folder for that Podcast. The part downloaded file will be in that folder. The solution is to delete that Podcast folder - but not the Download folder. Once you have deleted the Downloads/<Podcast name> folder, you should then be able to download the missing episode.
Let us know how you get on.
