sarah

So you are able to sync these podcasts over to your iPod Classic?  Would you be able to post a screenshot of one of these podcast's Summary tab of its Get Info window in iTunes?  Be sure to blank out the Apple ID fields and any personal informaiton shown on this tab.

I have an iPod nano 6th generation and I downloaded 3 music videos but they won't play on my iPod. They only play on my laptop/iTunes. How can I get it to work? I know that my iPod should take music videos because there is a pre-made playlist called "Music videos". Can anyone help me please????

You can sync the music videos, but they won't play on your 6G Nano, because it does not support video playback. Sorry.

  • Video Podcasts Won't Play under 7.3.2.6

Just installed new itunes and quick time and numerous previously downloaded and newly downloaded video podcasts won't play. You can see the opening frame on the small screen at bottom left if you click but when you try to play, the screen goes green, purple or other color and starts to vertically roll (like old tvs used to do) with foggy images. Strangely other video podcasts (old and new)do play. One example of podcast that does not play is Photoshop Killer Tips; one that does play is Adobe Photoshop Quick Tips.
Computer has plenty of space and has been cleaned of temporary files, defragged, etc.

And this is when going to videos-->video podcasts, right? Do they even show up there at all?

  • My movies won't play on my ipod

I just downloaded some movies to play on my ipod touch but they won't play on my ipod for some reason. all of them are mp4 files and h.264 (i don't know what this means but seems to be useful when I searched online to see if I could find answers) format (?). They play on itunes but when I try to sync it with my ipod, they won't copy because supposedly they cannot be played on this ipod. my ipod touch model is the one just before the model with the camera attached came out. (ver 4.2.1 is what it says in the info).

    See;
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
There are many flavors of H.264 and not all are compatible with the iPod. You may have to use a program like Handbreak to convert. This program has presents for the iPod/iPhone

  • HT1539 Some downloaded movies are in HD and won't play on my iPod Classic.  How can I get the SD version without having to buy another version?

How can I get the SD version of HD movies that I already own and are downloaded on my computer.  These HD movies won't play on my iPod Classic.

Just figured out how to get the SD version of HD movies to play on the iPod Classic.  In the iTunes Store, look at the purchased list and down at the bottom where it lists the Total: # Movies, to the right is a checkbox [ ] Download HD When Available.  If you uncheck the box, it allows you to get the SD version of those HD movies from the cloud.

  • Itunes progress bar is not moving and music won't play. I also have no audio from my laptop at all. Any ideas? I am running windows 8.

Have had no previous problems with iTunes but for past two weeks my I tunes progress bar is not moving and music won't play.
I also have no audio from my laptop at all. Any ideas? I am running windows 8.

I'm having the same incredibly frustrating problem. I have 50-60 GBs of music and now literally ALL OF A SUDDEN most of my mp3s won't play in iTunes. Of the songs that do play, many of them sound garbled (almost as if you were listening to them underwater). As others have noted, the songs do in fact play properly in other media players (VLC, MPC, WMP, etc).
I feel like I've tried just about everything but I can't seem to fix the problem. Nor have I been able to find any viable solutions after hours of scouring the internet. Here is a list of the steps I've taken so far, in chronological order:
    1. Closed/re-opened iTunes
    2. Re-booted computer
    3. Uninstalled/re-installed iTunes
    4. Tried deleting songs from iTunes library and then re-adding them, but after dropping files into the library they don't show up at all, iTunes refuses to import them
    5. Downgraded from iTunes 8 to iTunes 7
None of these things have helped at all and I am amazed that even after completely uninstalling iTunes 8 and then installing version 7 I'm still experiencing the same problem. And, on top of things, I've found that iTunes 7 is not recognizing the ID3 tags for many of the songs it does import.
My apologies for the length of this post. I just want to be specific and provide as much info as I can so that maybe we can find a solution to this thing.
So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Video podcasts won't play, cause ipod to freeze

    Hi there,
My 5.5g ipod won't play video podcasts. I've downloaded several different ones, made sure the "TV Out" is turned off, and played with several other settings, all to no avail. When I open one from the video>video podcasts menu, the screen goes black, sometimes it says "Loading" with the little "play" arrow in the top left corner, and that's all I get. It freezes, and I have to reset.
I've also tried restoring the ipod to factory conditions, which didn't work. The podcasts play in iTunes, so that's not the problem.
    This thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8969818&#8969818
also seems to describe my problem, but I can't find a solution there.
Anybody have any ideas for how to fix this? Thanks!

It's up to the producers of the podcast whether they make their video podcasts iPod compatible or not. It's certainly not a requirement for an iTunes Podcast feed which is, perhaps, unfortunate. You could try sending the producer feedback but even if they take any notice it won't affect podcasts you've already downloaded. The *Make iPod compatible version* rarely works (somthing to do with whether audio & video are separate or multiplexed to start with). I suggest you download SUPER which is capable of converting almost anything to an iPod version. You have to navigate through a bunch of links before you get to the actual download, but it is there - just ignore the links to other commercial software on the way, SUPER is free.

PS. On my current setup SUPER generates the odd error message while running but still produces a working output file...

  • Some Songs Won't Play on the iPod

    I have a bizarre problem.
All of my songs that are on my iPod are in iTunes (How else would they get on my iPod xP) and they all work fine. In general, the songs on my iPod work/play fine, minus a few.
When I go to play them, the load up, I see everything that should be there (album cover, band name, song name etc.) but the song doesn't play. What does happen though, is that the iPod rapidly goes through the album, going song to song, without playing any of them, as if I were pressing the skip song button. (which I am not pressing)
Then it slows down and stays on one song, staying at the 0:00 mark, even though the play arrow at the top is there. If I press pause and then play again, the arrow icon changes, but the song still won't play.
Now if I go to any other song by any other band the iPod won't play that song. If I press the center button, and move what part of the song it is at, it skips to the next song, and it doesn't matter how far into the song I put it. It's like the screen shows there is 4:24(or any time, this is just an example) of a song but the iPod thinks there is 0:00.
A simple restart of the iPod sets everything back to normal, I can listen to my other music without a problem, but the same thing happens when I select any of those songs.
At first I thought they were just broken files on the iPod, or even from the CD which I uploaded to iTunes. So I just ignored it, and didn't play those songs. But then I got more music yesterday and put it on my iPod, and the same thing happens to the entire album. So I decide to go open iTunes, and see what would happen if I tried to play the files on the computer. In the iTunes library, they worked fine. I go to where my iPod is listed, and play it from there it also works fine. So it's only on the iPod.
Is it the format or the bit rate of the file? I don't think this is the problem, but maybe it is, so here's the info on the files.
    Kind: MPEG audio file
    Bit Rate: 320 kbps
    Format: MEG-1, Layer 3
    Encoded: LAME3.93
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

i have this exact problem on my 120 classic. it started earlier today on a few song i had downlaoded from the iTunes store. i thought it was an accessability issue since i had just updated to the latest iTunes, but it started happening on my songs from CDs, and then what you described happened on every single song i played on shuffle (out of about 10,000 songs total)
i got home and plugged it into to itunes only to find it told me to restore it. so i did. then it looked as if it was fixed (the bar at the bottom showed everything on it)
then i unplugged it, and it said no songs, yet there was 50gb of info on it.
i checked under settings and it said it was all 'other'. then i plugged it in again and restored it again and the same thing happened, 50gb of other.
iTunes works perfectly still. im not sure what the problem is, and ill probably go to the nearest iTunes store this weekend and ill tell you how it goes if theres a way to fix it.

  • Videos and video Podcasts won't sync anymore to iPod

I have a 5th generation 30G Video iPod and used to have all the same videos and video Podcasts playing just fine on my iPod. I reinstalled Mac OS X on my Macbook and added all the videos and videoPodcasts back to my iTunes library and while they play in iTunes just fine they don't sync to iPod anymore... The error message says:
'Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including video "..." were not copied to the iPod " X " because they cannot be played on this iPod.'
And as said - in the past these same videos and video podcasts were playing just fine on this very same iPod... Can anyone help?
All the audio library is being synced and plays perfectly well on iPod. And games too.

Andrew, have you tried re-installing QuickTime? That might fix it. Download it from Apple:

  • I just updated and downloaded the new version of iTunes. I then downloaded some music and now the music won't play on my iPod or in my iTunes. The tracks play for a few seconds and then skip to the next track

I just downloaded and updated the newest version of iTunes. After updating I downloaded some new music and synced the iPod. The music doesn't play. It'll play about 30 seconds of the song and then skip automatically to the next song. I restarted the iPod. I restored it. It still didn't work. Then I tried listening to the music from my laptop straight from iTunes...and it's still doing it.
    How do I fix it?

I'm assuming the tracks that won't play copy/are displayed with exclamation marks. This happens if the files are no longer where iTunes expects to find them. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • My itunes won't play on my ipod?

I have purchased itunes but they will not play on my ipod, they play on my computer but not the ipod! My other downloaded music will play on the ipod so why won't the itunes i've purchased? Any insight is appreciated. Thank You

After a long period of furstration, *I found a solution!*
I had a similar problem, all the songs I purchased throug iTunes would appear on my color display, then the song would skip to the next song or back to the menu. My other songs played fine and my purchased songs played in iTunes.
    I tried:
    * the 5 r's (reset, restore, retry...)
    * Moving my library to the desktop and then deleting the iTunes Library database file
    * Deauthorizing and Re-authorizing my computer
    * Updating the software for iTunes and my iPod
    * Manually updating my iPod songlist
    * Trying a different USB port
    * Buying a new song on iTunes and trying to load it onto my iPod
    What worked in the end????
I uninstalled iTunes and iPod updater.
I reinstalled iTunes and iPod updater from my original CD.
I then restored my iPod to the original factory condition.
I was able to load all my songs at that point - I did NOT update any software.
I was very relieved to see that my library was still on my computer - even though I removed iTunes.
    I hope this helps!
