My poor new iPad screen

My friend bought me an iPad two weeks ago and I love it, but the screen is over now - color green was gone so the screen looks red. Yes I still can see the icons and images, even movies. And every operation is still as smooth as before. But the whole screen looks terrible red.
It back to normal for a few minutes and back to red again. My problem is my friend bought this iPad in Boston and I'm in China now, can't visit Boston again in a short time. And my another friend will go to Irvine, CA on May. Can I get an exchange in Apple Store in CA?
Thanks

This is NOT a software issue.  It is a hardware issue.
There is no need to bang or drop the iPad!!  Read this solution.  Read the whole thing.
If your iPad is still under warranty, I have heard that Apple will simply exchange it for you.  That is not necessarily an ideal option, as many people do not want to have to bother with transfering all of their files to a brand new device.
My problem, however, was that my iPad was no longer under warranty when this occurred.  I was so sad, because the warranty is supposed to be for a year.  My mother bought it for me as a gift last Christmas, so it had not even been out of the box for a whole year when this happened.  Nevertheless, since my mother bought it in October, the warranty had *just* expired, since they go technically by the purchase date.
Apple offered to fix it for me for $300!!!!  A ridiculous price for a loose wire inside.  I simply am not in a position to spend that kind of money, and if I was, why not get a new device at that price (NON-Apple!).  I was very upset, but I didn't give up on it.  I scoured the Internet for an affordable solution, I found one, and it worked!!
The problem is caused by a loose cable on the inside, simple as that (can you imagine they ask $300 for the fix!!  After all I have invested in the App store, and buying the Apple keyboard to boot!!!).
The fix I found is simple, I did it, and it worked for me.  It is the same repair a professional would do in this situation.
The following video demonstrates how to open your iPad.  Warning!  This is a do-at-your-own-risk solution!  But I found it quite easy.  Watch the video (which actually demonstrates the entire process of replacing the screen),
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG5HhdeP_VY
Obviously, for our issue, you will not remove your screen.  Simply disconnect the two cables as shown in the video, and reconnect them!!  Simple as that!  Then just reassemble it according to the video.
I purchased the prying tool and screw driver and latches from sw-box.com -- for under $20.  I think it comes from Hong Kong, but it only took 8 days to get to me in TX, USA.
I hope this helps someone else.

I have mi new ipad screen broken in one corner, I was really disappointed because it was drop from about 30 cm so I was not expecting the screen to be broken, well I went to apple store in regents street in London  and I was told that I have to pay 250 pounds for the screen replacement, it was a rip off and after many years using apple products I have expend thousands of pounds on them, I just think is  a rip off price. It will be difficult but I won't be buying any apple products anymore, I really feel like I was abuse that was half of the price of a new iPad. I have never complain in my life but this time I think apple is abusing me as a costumer.
I'm really upset, I'm furious that apple uses his dominance in the market to Rip off costumers like me.

  • Dust speck under new iPad screen

I just called apple about a dust speck I have under my new iPad screen.. I have only had it for a week, and it's never left my side.  I called support, and without apple care, I have to pay for shipping out of my own pocket.  Does that seem right to anyone?  I'd love to drop it at an apple store, but I live a ferry ride and 100+ km away..

Did you buy it from Apple online? did they pay for the shipping to you? I'm just asking because I don't know what the policy is where you live.
However, based on my experiences here in the USA - if product that is still in warranty has to be returned to the manufacturer, shipping is paid by the consumer - or at least that has been my experience in the past.
The device is what is under warranty - transportation to get the product back to the manufacturer is the customer's responsibility. Once again - that has been my experience. There are some warranties that may exist that cover shipping - but that would be above and beyond in my opinion.

  • New iPad screen is not really white

When i put the screen of the new iPad against the iPad 2 or iPhone 4s I notice is not really white on the colors where is supposed to be white, is a little yellow, jus a little. In some games like tiny tower the blue looks more purple and so on...
    Is just my iPad?

You can take it into the apple store and have them look at it. Going by forum posts, there seems to be an issue with some yellow tinged screens. Even if they won't replace it you can document the issue in case it gets worse in the future.

  • New iPad Screen Broken

I was in college and my ipad sleve from my hand and the screen crashed, I can use it normaly but the screen is broken. A friend told me that if took it to an Apple Store and give them like 100$ or 200$ they give me an New iPad. its that true? and if they dont do that, what are my solutions?

No, not an issue at all - just cheaper to get it replaced for accidental damage - $49 plus tax. But take it into your Apple Store by all means. I'm not sure what the replacement cost is, but having anyone mess with it except Apple at this point would put it out of Warranty.
Here is a link for iPad Service, but I couldn't find anything specific about the replacement cost when you do not have an AppleCare plan. However, I do know that they will replace it for a flat fee.... Here's the link FYI:

So, take it in to see what they can do for you!
    Best of Luck!

  • White dots or pixels on new iPad screen.

I recently purchased a new 16gb wifi New iPad and while applying a new screen guard I noticed 2 very small white dots on the screen under the glass. These dots are not noticeable while the screen is on unless you really look for them. Has anyone else found the same thing with their new iPad and is it worth returning my iPad for a replacement.?

I have noticed the same thing on my new iPad!
At first I thought that I had damaged it but couldn't understand why there seemed to be in the same spot one on top of the other.
It's like there is a small bit of dust that has managed to get between the screens and then when I have been using the iPad it has somehow split in two and stuck to both the inside of the outter screen and the inner screen, if that makes sense....

  • My actual (brand new) iPad screen appears to have bubbles after on it after I removed a screen protector. HELP

    Can someone help:
I bought a new iPad from the Apple Store in Danbury CT the day before yesterday (it's a Verizon iPad). I bought a screen protector for it today and after deciding to remove it, was left with bubbles on the actual screen itself.
    Any thoughts.....Thanks.

I just really find it hard to believe that the screen itself has bubbles in to, but we can't see the device. Why don't you take it to an Apple Store and have a genius look at it? Or take it back to Verizon, since they put the screen protector on it.
Is the touch screen responsive ... It works OK?

  • There is dust under my new iPad screen

I bought the new iPad via the online store (Singapore) last week, but now I am not in Singapore.  How to exchange the new one in other contries that still not sell the new iPad?  Or what should I do?

If there is no evidence of abuse, these are the out-of-warranty charges.  If there is evidence of abuse (don't try to fix it yourself), Apple will return your damaged unit to you.

  • Does new IPad screen benefits writing too ?

Given the most paraded "retina display" with vastly increased pixels - does it lead to the possibility of better handwriting / drawing apps ? Those that exist now dont replace paper - despite their claims - however with the ability for the new IPad to literally have the dynamics of a pen and paper then this could be the killer-app at least ive been waiting for to take the IPad away from just "consumption device" to something actually useful (and if MS were to sort out its OneNote app to work along side this improvement then we're laughing - although this is probably the reason Apple havent pushed on the invention they introduced so many years ago with Newton!)

Thanks for the post - and I look forward to hearing from your experience in a few hours with the new iPad - lucky you !!
I use a Stylus frequently but handwriting apps are simply too clunky. The requirement for a finer stylus is a product designers dreak - as surely relatively simple task with such a potentially massive audience.....as the ability to make the iPad truly replace the "note pad" opens up the possibility of JUST having an iPad for business / studies!

  • Dust under New iPad Screen...Again...

I just had an iPad (2012) replaced because there was dust under the screen. My replacement has a very small speck of dust under the screen that is smaller than the original and it really bothers me also. Will the Apple Store be mad that I want to get this one replaced as well and not replace it because they already replaced one bad iPad for me already?
Thank you so much! (If you reply)

I went through 3 iPhone 4's last year when I had a water damage replacement for the first one, and the guys in the genius bar where just as helpful every time I went back with a new issue. The amount of replacements should not matter at all, sounds like you've been very unlucky, nothing else. I do as above though, check it out Instore.
One suggestion I would make on getting your replacement is ensure they either give you a replacement box, or the sticker to put on your original box or you will be given grief for having an iPad not matching the box if you ever come to sell it.

  • My just bought new ipad screen stuck one a game. Can't turn off, can't get into log in screen. I connect ipad to my imac, but message say need to unlock ipad. But my ipad screened dead. Please help!

My just bought ipad with retinal display 32G, screen frozen at one of game my son play. Now I can't turn off ipad, I can log in ipad. I connect ipad to my apple computer, message say I need to unlock the ipad, the problem is I can't even get to ipad home screen to unlock or enter the password. Basically, my ipad is dead. I can't even know what my series number etc. Please help!

    Try a reset:

  • New iPad screen wont rotate

I have tried to reset the iPad and have tried turning the rotate lock on and off, but the iPad still will not rotate. Do I need to bring it to a service center for repair? Or is there something I am missing? Please help. This is very frustrating!

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I just got the new iPad and I've recently found little specks of dirt under the glass screen what should I do?

  • Purchased new iPad 4th generation, screen has warm yellowish hue to it.

I just received my brand new iPad 4th generation, when I compare the screen to my current 3rd generation there is a def yellowish warm tint to the new ipads screen.
I probably wouldn't even have noticed it if I did have them both side by side for comparison.
I have included a couple of photos for you guys to see!
You can tell me which one you think looks 'wrong'
My question is basically will the screen tint change gradually over time???
Or should i swap it for a new one?
The tint is over the entire screen.
    Many thanks...

    Any ideas?
