My power adaptor doesn't light up when i've plugged it in

I followed to guide to cleaning it but i still haven't had any luck. I left the power adaptor out of the computer for three days so i don't see what could have happened to it.
Any help would be appreciated
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If your computer charges with it, exchange the adapter for a new one. If not, the problem can be either with the charger or the charging circuit in the computer. In any event it is a hardware issue that is covered under warranty.

  • Power adaptor doesn't work

My power adaptor doesn't work at times. I have to jiggle in and hold it in at just the right position, for it to work. Would Apple replace a faulty power adaptor like that? Alternatively, is there anything I can do about it?
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Apple will typically replace a faulty power adapter if you are still within your one year warranty period and there are no clear signs of abuse. Just give them a call... or, if you have an Apple store nearby, bring it in. If you go to a store, you should bring your MacBook in as well just to be sure that the problem isn't related to an issue on the MacBook side vs. just the charger.

  • Computer won't turn on and the power cord doesn't light up

My problem with the computer is that it will not turn on. The battery is fully charged, power cord is plugged into a working outlet. I have held down the power button for 10 second or even longer. Nothing turns it on and the power cord doesn't light up at all. Any thing will help.
    Thanks

First, check that your AC outlet has power. Second, see this article: Intel-based iMac- What to do if your computer won't turn on and this one Resetting MacBook and MacBook Pro System Management Controller (SMC).

  • Week-old Pro won't turn on, power cord doesn't light up

I bought a new 13" non-retina MacBook Pro a week ago. Now my laptop will not turn on, and there is no green/amber light on the power cord when it is connected.
Backstory: I've already had problems with this machine. The same day I bought it, it no longer recognized my admin password that I had set up and logged in with several times. I had to reinstall the operating system.
The day it stopped working, I had been transferring some files from my old laptop to the pro via an external hard drive. The laptops charge was getting low, so I plugged in the charger. In order to do this, I had to unplug & replug the external hard drive's power cord to get both to fit. I was dumb and forgot that it was necessary for the drive to work, but after I had realized this I assumed that it wasn't such a big deal. After all, I had already transferred everything I need over and there was nothing on the drive that controlled the laptop in any way. There was a popup similar to when a flash drive isn't ejected properly. It said that some things on the drive could be corrupted, but I didn't pay much notice because, as I said, everything I needed was already off. However, after I clicked "ok", the machine shut down.
Now, my laptop is completely unresponsive. No lights, no fan, nothing at all that would show it is functioning at all. Pressing the power button does nothing. When I plug in the charger, there's no colored indicator. I know this isn't an issue with the charger, because I tried another charger and it too did not have a green/amber light.
Does anyone know what's wrong, or how I can fix this? If not, I'm bringing it back in to Apple to be fixed/returned.

    Clare,
Please don't be insulted here, but sometimes the obvious is the stuff that bites us. Are you sure the power cord is plugged into a good outlet? If you're using the cord that attaches in place of the onboard AC connector, is it securely snapped in?
It seems odd that this happened when it did, meaning you were low on power to begin with. If you think about it, this is how a no power to the charger situation would behave.

  • G4 MDD won't start. Power button doesn't light up.

I just moved, shipped my computer (a G4 mirrored door drive) and when I unpacked it and plugged it in, it wouldn't even act like there was power to it. No light up on the power button, no chime, no nothing. I used my Blackberry to troubleshoot and ended up resetting the PMU.
Today, about a week later, I was having trouble with my internet so I shut everything down and flipped the switch on my powerstrip to reset it. (GRR. I probably should have just unplugged the modem and plugged it bag in.) Now, my computer is doing the same thing. Now lights, no chimes, nada.
Should I reset the PMU again? Is that bad to do? Why would it possibly be doing this again?
    Help!

Unplugging your Mac from it's power source causes the battery to discharge as it trys to maintain PRAM settings and the Macs clock. If you have done this before, or often cut power off to your Mac via a power strip or wall switch, your battery may be depleted. Since it's not a rechargable battery it'll need to be replaced. You can also check it with a voltmeter.
Even if you have'nt done it before, this disconnect may have been enough to kill it, if it was weak to begin with.
I would check it first. When mine went, I had no response from my Mac at all; just a light on my power button; absolutely no boot at all.
Check out things in Texas Mac Man's tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies.
    Cheers!

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 screen doesn't light up when i re...

title says it all, and no I will not do a reset on it so don't even suggest that.

Any screen protector or case in use, that may disturb the proximity sensor?
Is the screen otherwise performing as it should during and after a phone call?
A soft reset is advisable whenever the phone act up, and can be performed without losing data. Press and hold the volume down and power key simultaneously until the phone vibrates and restart.
We are running out of options to avoid the factory reset ...

  • ITunes doesn't launch automatically when iPhone is plugged in.

It used to be, that when I plugged my iPhone into my Mac, iTunes launched automatically. It stopped doing that.
If I launch iTunes myself the iPhone appears and everything works fine. I checked all the settings and asked the guy at the Genius Bar, but no joy. Anyone know what can cause this?

    Hey Alexander,
Has iTunes Helper been removed from the login items? Go to System Preferences> Accounts> Login Items.
You can add it again manually as described here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1610692
you can also get it back by downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes.

  • Why doesn't my device light up when i try to move a playlist from itunes to it

I've been trying to add a playlist to my new iPhone and after I've plugged the phone in to the computer, my device shows up but doesn't light up when I drag a playlist over to it.  What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you may have a hardware problem, like the proximity sensors failing (they turn off the screen when you put the phone to your ear to prevent accidentally tapping any of the icons).  You could try resetting it to see if that helps: hold the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple logo (ignoring the red off slider that appears first), release and wait for the phone to restart.  If the problem persists take it to the Apple store for evaluation.

  • LED on the adapter connector doesn't light up

Sometimes The LED on the adapter connector doesn't light up when attached to the computer and computer doesn't sharge. When I eject it and inverse it, it works! sometimes it doesn't work in both sides. Whats the problem?
My Macbook pro model is retina 2013 me864.

Try a different charger. If your computer is under warranty so is the charger and Apple will replace it.

  • Power adaptor buzz problem

Just found that my power adaptor make some buzz sound.
The sound come out when charging with my MacBook turned on.
both My MacBook and adaptor make such buzz!!!
However, when I disconnect the adaptor to the MacBook, both power adaptor and MacBook become silent. when I plug it again, they start buzz....:(
I have my MacBook for about 2 months, and the battery "expand" in the first charge(5 hours after my purchase). Have a replacement two days after.
Now the power adaptor got problem.... the service center "CASE HK" tell me to wait 4-6 days until they have replacement part available.
I am not sure if the problem also related to the MacBook, but I have to use it tomorrow, so I only leave the power adaptor.
I want to ask if ther is anyone that face the simular problem? Both power adaptor and MacBook buzz.....
Should I need to send them my MacBook as well?
I am quite disappointed but no choice...
My old PC notebook, a Pentium II 366 still in a good condition(bought in 1997). Battery, power adaptor, HDD.... everything still functioning today.
I just wonder if this Mac will last for one year...:(
I am a Windows user and recently try a Mac, OSX is much much better then Windows XP, but I am tired of travel for hours and take my MacBook to the service center. Wasting time to searching for posts in different forum about the issue. Dealing with Customer Service with limited knowledge about computer. I have to explain what is damaged, and they seems still not sure what to do next, and tell me to wait for a few days. This waste me too much time and money.
Thank You very much for reading... I know it is a long message and waste time to read....
And sorry for my poor English...
    MacBook A1181   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Just live without power adaptor for 4 days....
My MacBook just running out of battery....
No reply from the service center. No telephone and no e-mail received.

  • Have a C310a that will not start. Have +32VDC from Ac power adaptor, using on a Mac.

Have a PhotoSmart Premium e-All-in-One PrinterC310a, it will not turn on. We have been using it on an iMac and a MacBook, both OS X 10.6.7. Have been thru the HP resetting of the power adaptor etc, so I checked at the printer plug and had +32VDC, which is the correct input voltage. The printer still will not start, what am I missing?

Hey zzzzip! I know its a basic question, but have you tried using a different outlet that you know works? Here is the document on troubleshooting power issues:

If you have gone through all theses steps I would contact telephone support.
