My power chord is not charging my battery but it was working a week ago

Last week my computer was working propperly but yesterday that I arrived from holidays, I tried to turn it on and it didn't start unless I connected the power chord. Then I checked the battery sign on the top left corner of the screen and it says that the battery is not charging and I don't know why.
Help please

Hi a,
Go to Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info > Hardware > Power and look at the battery condition, and also the number of cycles.

My power adapter doesn't charge my computer anymore. however the charge light is on.
Please help my battery is draining fas

So, with your power adaptor connected not only does the battery not charge but the powerbook is not running on ac power. Then I guess the power adaptor is faulty. In as much as you've verified this with a known good one a new one is in order. Try yours in another powerbook to make sure.

  • How smart is my mac? can use the AC adapter as a main power source and not charge the battery when its fully charged?

does my mac use the AC adapter as the power source when its plugged in and the battery is full? is it smart to enough to split?

The charging circuit charges until the battery reaches 100%, then shuts down the charging and goes to powering mode.  When the battery charge trickles down to 93-95% the charging circuit starts again and tops up the battery.  Will continue to operate like that if you leave it plugged in.  Keeping it plugged in does not harm the battery or risk overcharging.

  • My power cord will not charge my battery or even maintain the Macbook pro when I am in my mobile office!

Any one else having issues with the 60w MagSafe Power Cord not working when connected to an inverter or Generator?  My Inverter is a 2000w modified sine wave 12vDC-110AC unit.  The generator is a 6 KW diesel powered unit.  Both of these units are functioning and are in use powering other devices so I am at a loss as to what the problem might be!  I have been using the inverter for the last year to power a PC Laptop, and a small refrigerator, the last of which is still in use, but the PC died.  The generator powers a microwave without issue, thus I feel certain there is no problem with either power source.

USE FOLDING DUAL PRONGED ADAPTER FOR BEST RESULTS!!!  NOT THE GROUNDED EXTENSION...
It seems as though the solution in my case was to eliminate the 3 pronged (Grounded) Charge cord extension from the MagSafe Power Cord, use the 2 pronged folding plug instead and now I have the ability to charge the unit from either my (MSW) Inverter or my Generator without any failure!  Too bad I bought 2 more inverters and wasted a trip to an Apple Store as well as an hour of Phone Tech Support before figuring it out on my own!  Good Luck!

If you have Apple Care or your computer is still under warranty, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

Either the power brick is damaged, or the charging circuit is on the blink, or both. Either way, a trip to the Apple Store or the Apple Authorized Service Provider is in order, as this ain't no bargain basement toy.
In the meantime, can attempt an SMC Reset to see if it helps.

Does the connecter seem to be making good contact?  Is yours a model with a replaceable batttery or not?
Might have to visit an Apple Retail store genius bar, or authorized repair and have them check out the battery to see if it has failed.

  • Satellite A100-166 PSAA9E does not charge the battery

    Hello,
My laptop does not charge the battery.
Although Windows Xp recognizes the battery and says charging, the battery is not recharged.
I tried with a spare battery as i thought the battery was defective, with same results.
Strange is, when i turn off the laptop the power supply led stays on and blue, even without the power supply atached thus discharging the battery.
The battery led is always amber but not charging!!!
What is the matter with the laptop?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Generally there are three different possibilities;
    1) the AC adaptor is faulty
    2) the battery is faulty
    3) the notebooks board electronic (power supply electronic) malfunctions
So now its necessary to check all this steps to locate the fault.
You said that you have tested different batteries and the AC adaptor works too.
So its possible that there is something wrong with the power supply electronic
In such case there is no much to do as to contact the ASP in your country. The technicians should check the notebook and should run some diagnostic tests
I recommend contacting the guys and ask for the details and for the further handling Good luck and happy new year.

  • Battery does not charge (displays battery/plug icon on top right)

iphone 4 is about 3-4 months old
    Symptoms:
phone started to have issues a few weeks ago
it does not seem to want to charge
when plugged in, it displays the plugged in icon but doesn't seem to charge
have tried various charges (usb AND wall) and it won't always charge
the same charger that works, also might not work
few weeks ago, phone was down (out of battery for about 4 days) and then all of a sudden decided to charge
yesterday, it was plugged in overnight and it did not charge at all. but it had about 15% power left, so when i looked at the icon on the top right, it had the battery with a plug icon (i think that means its indicating the battery is fully charged) so it wouldn't charge at all
then i tried 3 different wall charges and one of them changed it to battery with a lightning bolt. then it started charging
so it seems like somehow the battery thinks its charged and does not charge even though its not really charged.
Could this indicate a problem with the battery, or the phone?

    thanks, will do..
Only problem i have is that the issue is intermittent, and dealing with mechanics and even computer shops if they can't replicate the problem they can't fix it.
the last time i had made an appt with apple store, the first time i ran across this issue, the phone started working the night before i had to go to the store.
whats the remedy in this case? as far as replicating the issue or trying to show them the issue.. haven't dealt with the apple store for warranty before so i wanna make sure i can explain the issue to them and not getting told that they can't do anything because they can't replicate the problem.
I will take a look at the pins tonight when i get home, i've been using a loaner phone since the iphone4 has been somewhat unreliable in the past few weeks.

  • TS1367 My charger connects with my macbook with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery.

My charger connects with my computer with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery. The power source to keep it on is the power adapter and that it's "Not charging" on the battery settings. And my charger seems to charge other computers fine.
The part of my mac where the adapter (L-shaped, magnetic) attaches is a bit damaged - a small piece of the white case/body around the part where the adapter attaches is broken off, but that's just an outer damage.
I don't know what's wrong with my computer, and if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what's going on, it'd be tremendously helpful!
    Thank you!!

    Hi Christopher,
Doubtful an upgrade would fix a hardware issue. If you are thinking of upgarding to Lion, best to do all necessary maintenance first.
Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If that doesn't help try here >  Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters

  • TS3499 macbook recognises but will not charge new battery

I was advised to buy a new charger last week and have just been advised by an apple employee to buy a new battery for my MacBook 2009 and i am having the same issue as my old battery.
The Mac reconognises the battery but will not charge or run off the battery.
Just spent £150 in total on new charger and battery but still having the same problem as before.
I have downloaded the firmware update but my Mac is already running the latest software.

  • My brand new Ipad 2 is not charging the battery with py PC thru USB. Is that normal? When I plug it directly into the wall, it works... Thanks! Sam

My brand new Ipad 2 is not charging the battery with py PC thru USB. Is that normal? When I plug it directly into the wall, it works... Thanks! Sam

It talks extensively about charging in the user guide, and how USB ports on PCs and older Macs may not provide sufficient power to charge the iPad.  The user guide is available for free from the iBook store (accessed directly via the iPad iBooks app).
My iPad charges fine when plugged in to the back of my iMac, but I would always prefer to use the mains adaptor to save the strain on my USB circuits (which can wear out if used heavily to power external devices).
