My power light continually blinks bu no error messages on PC

My Deskjet 3745, after several years of satisfactory operation has suddenly stopped printing.  The power light constantly flashes, no error messages on my PC.  No paper blockages, ink cartridges OK. What could it be?  Will not print test sheets or any other diagnostic tools? Help!

Click here for information; if the computer beeps three or fewer times, remove and reinsert the computer's RAM. If it beeps four or more times, it needs to be repaired. If it's a G5, it will ignore RAM modules that aren't part of a matching pair.

  • My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

Thanks for the help. No point in fooling around with it any more. Will I be able to use it as a monitor if I get a mimi mac?
    Cheers. Don
No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac  or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

I had recently updated from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and thus had to re download Adobe Digital Editions. I downloaded Version 4.0 but the problem seemed to be with the authorization between the e-reader and the computer. While in ADE click the help button and click erase authorization then re do your user id and password. It worked for me.

I've been getting timed out for 2 days now, what finally worked for me was not plugging the phone into the computer and just doing the update through my wifi, worked perfectly, took less than 15 minutes

I continue to get an error message when trying to add Header & Footer.  Therefore I am unable to add page numbers to my pdf.  Help!!

Sounds like the PDF has an issue. You can try to save it, close, and reopen to see if that fixes it. If there are no tags or other markup, you could print it to a new PDF and try on the new file.

  • My Mac is already authorized by iTunes but I continue to get an error message saying it is not.

My new Mac has been authorized to play my iTunes music, but I continue to get an error message for two songs that were purchased. The error message asks me do I want to authorize my computer, but when I go through the authorization process I get a message that it is already authorized, click OK, and I immediately get a message this computer is not authorized. Any ideas?

    Hey jbarrett
I've had this problem before but on a Windows machine. I'm hoping this will still work with your Mac.
Try trashing the SC Info folder which seems to help iTunes play the songs again.
You'll need to deauthorize > remove the folder > authorize

  • DV-6117dx - power light steadily blinking off-and-on and laptop won't work

    A little background:
A couple of days ago, I shut down my computer because it was a bit slow (nothing new installed beforehand).  Upon a restart the next morning, I got a "log on initialization" error (with the laptop screen not working and being able to see the error message on an external monitor only).  Too many hours with Google basically says the only real way around this is to reinstall the system.  Fine.  I tried the minimized image recovery twice - error both times.  Finally, I tried the full factory reset.  That worked.  After the reset, however, came an endless series of issues.
    - First reboot, keyboard and touchpad doesn't work so had to plug in external versions.  Moreover, the native monitor doesn't work so had to plug in my TV.  But the set-up for Windows did finish.  Once on the desktop, I tried to access the Window monitor/screen resolution menu to get image back onto the laptop.  Laptop beeped once and shut itself down with the power light (on the power button) steadily blinking but power button is nonresponsive otherwise.
    - Tried a BIOS reset and got the laptop to power up.  Went into safe mode with networking.  Everything seems to work fine.  Restarted into normal mode (shut down then powered up, actually).  Boots into Windows on the native screen.  Went into Windows Update and that caused the machine to again beep and shut itself down.
    - After a minute or two of steady blinking from the power button light, laptop powered on and looked like it went into hibernation instead of random shutdown.  Since the dialogue was still showing, decided to try Windows Update again.  Same result as last time with the beeping, random shutdown, and steady blinking.  This time, though, the machine hasn't tried to restart itself.
At this point, short of buying a new machine, is there anything I can do?  I do have access to a CD that I'll try but want that to be the last resort since it means losing the recovery partition.  Besides, with the recovery partition working well (keyboard, touchpad, native screen, etc. all worked beautifully dring that process), signs seems to point to some odd hardware issue.

I've run the full battery of tests allowed by my limited access. The only issue I've run into is concerning the BIOS, wherein it gave me a message about not being able to update/rollback due to not being able to read the BIOS image. Tried flashing it twice but failed both times. There appears to be some news on this particular front in that it might indicate an issue with my trying to restore the system so many times and confusing the BIOS instead of just some catastrophic failure.
In other news, I did get into the BIOS menu and reset to factory default. For whatever reason, that allowed me get the minimized image recovery to work whereas it never did before. Performed the MIR. All went fine until just now when I tried to restart the system (after a massive Windows update).
Upon reloading Windows, I got the same error that started this mess - Logon Process Initialization Error. Considering that an MIR is a pretty clean install and I only installed the essential Windows updates, I'm at a huge loss as to where this error is coming from.
In any event, since there was no way to shut down the system, I had to do a hard shut down. There was a few minutes of waiting because, now, my power button is no longer functioning as it should - as in, it seems to only power on the laptop at my prompting when it deems necessary, not whenever I push it.
Moreover, having just rebooted with a clean boot (disabling all but MS services), my screen and touchpad both shut down and an external monitor and mouse were required. This seems to point to a graphic card issue, but it's a weird issue since, unless I'm booting into Windows normally, I've never had an issue with either the touchpad or screen through this whole mess - even booting into Safe Mode, I only encountered this issue once and only during the midst of the mess when the laptop was undoubtedly a mess.
At this point, I'll probably try to boot into this current Windows install once or twice more before giving up and installing a fresh copy of Windows (have a CD), losing my recovery partition. Honestly, considering the loss of the power button's reliability, this seems like it's just a brick that occasionally rouses itself to be more.  I'll report back with news of the clean install just in case anyone else ever runs into this special unicorn of a problem, but it appears my issue is a lost cause.
Frankly, I'm just annoyed at HP at this point. Leaving aside the fact that the warranty seems to have started over a month before the laptop got to my hands, this laptop top is just a couple of months out of warranty. I don't expect hardware manufacturers to guarantee their products for life, but the hardest thing running on this machine was Office (well, SETI@Home for the last 2 weeks). It was sitting elevated on a desk for the entirety of its life, and the CPU barely ever surpassed 50% usage. Every month or two, the vents would get compressed air sprayed in to get rid of excess dust. The only hardware change was done before the laptop ever turned on and that was a RAM upgrade. What I'm trying to say is that this was a laptop that should have given me, at the very least, more than just a few months of out warranty in terms of usage, and even if it dies, it shouldn't have been some catastrophic failure as this appears to be.
PS None of my blinking corresponds to the HP list of blink codes. It's my power button that's blinking, not my caps button light or wireless light or anything like that. And it was a steady blink off and on. Moreover, the blinking is no longer occurring since the successful MIR.

  • A665-S6098 Power Light / LED Blinks Once Upon Plugging In Adapter, Then Nothing. No Power Up.

Title says it all. My A665 is completly un-responsive - other than: as soon as I plug in the adapter the power light in the front to the far left will blink / flash once, very quickly - than nothing. With the battery, nothing at all.
I have done the 30 second power button deal and I even replaced the power button entirely (another problem it seems all A665 computers have).
I have no clue what to do. Please help.

you could try reseating everything (hdd, ram, battery).  Sounds like a hardware issue.  I see in your other post your looking to replace the motherboard.  swapping parts at this point is about all you can do.

  • Hp officejet pro l7590 with blinking memory card error message

My all-in-one printer constantly blinks the yellow exclamation point and has the message Memory Card Error for no apparent reason.  I have not used a memory card.  It just decided to show the message and blink.  I turned it off and on again, with no change.  How do I make it stop?

Experiencing the same problem, so did some troubleshooting of my own.  I am using Windows 7; however, the OS should not make a difference since this is the built-in card reader which can be used without a computer being connected.  Specifically, I was trying to read an SD card to make a proof sheet.
I knew I had been able to read an older Compact Flash card, so tried that and was successful.  Then I tried an older SD card that is only 128MB -- no problem.  A closer look at the card causing the "Memory Card Error" message revealed that it is a 4 GB SD HC card.  The printer documentation includes Secure Digital in the list of supported memory cards, but not the newer variants.
Clearly, the error message is caused by attempting to read a non-supported memory card.

  • I am getting error message "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone".  I have deleted the backup and restarted my computer, but continue to get this error message.  What do I need to do now?

I have recently updated my phone and am attempting to sync it.  I got the error message "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone".  I deleted the backup, restarted my computer, and even restored the iPhone, but continue to get the same error message.  What do I need to do now?

iTunes places the iPhone backup in the following location. Navigate there & delete everything in the backup folder, but not the folder itself. You will have to turn on "Show All Hidden Files & Folders" to see it:
    Mac:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
