My PowerBook G4 15-inch could turn to sleep even when I am using it.

It happened on Os X 10.3 since around 3 months ago and I have been suffering by it. sometimes, when I am typing something, suddenly the screen becomes black- it starts sleeping! and it will never wake up no matter how would I do. I have to remove the battery and wait until it died then I put battery back and restart it, I don't even have chance to save my work. I sent my PowerBook to apple care centre and they told me this is an operation system problem so I formated the hard disk and installed Os X 10.4, but the problem is still there. Can anyone give me suggestion? Is it a software problem or hardware problem? Thank you very much.

Hello Chen, Welcome to the Discussions!
Try resetting the PMU for your particular model, according to:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
If done correctly, you should need to reset your clock.
Does your pB seem abnormally warm?

Double click home button, then swipe up on app picture (not the icon itself)

My phone turned off over night and will not turn back on even when plugged in. Is there anything that I can do?

If you've left the phone plugged in for at least a half-hour with no results, then try holding power and home buttons simultaneously to do a soft reset (settings) only. If that doesn't work, try seeing if iTunes will recognize the device and let the computer charge the device.

can I turn my airport extreme when not in use?

    Why?
The power saving will be negligible, and it may take time to re-establish a connection to your ISP's Network.

  • I was playing Angry Birds and had to hit the pause button to listen to something.  When I hit the pause/play button again to resume, I heard talking that sounded like a talk-radio program and I couldn't turn it off, even when I turned off my iPad.

Does anyone know what would cause me to start hearing a talk program of some type after hitting the play button after it had been on pause.  Hitting the pause button shuts off the talking, but hitting the play button starts it up again.  The strange thing is that the talking continues even after I turn off my iPad. The talk program was about silly or trendy news items, not regular news.  It sounds like it could be a talk-radio program, but there were no call letters or information on where it was coming from or who was talking.  The person doing all the talking is a male and sounds like he could be in his 20's.  The only way I could turn it off was to hit the pause button and then turn off my iPad. I just got my iPad last week and had not had any problems with it until this happened.  At the time this happened I was playing a version of Angry Birds that kept being interrupted by t-mobile commercials from time to time, which I had never experienced before. either.

Well, shut my mouth!  There was a similar question over to the right about a 6th generation nano repeating over and over again -- I read the answer to that one, followed the instructions, and holy crap, it's back to normal.
Is there a name for this when you end up replying to your own aggravating question?  That's what I did.  Now I can go out and listen.  It's only 91 degrees.  Heaven. Thanks, Apple.

  • IPod turns itself on, even when locked!

    Hi all,
My mini, even when locked, turns itself on. Do you think its a battery issue? Its 3 years old, and the battery doesn't stay charged as long as it should, espeically when it plays by itself. I was going to replace the battery to see if that helps, but wanted to see if there could be another reason for it to keep turning on without me!

You most likely have an alarm set.
To check go to extras/clock/alarm and set it to off. Check the calendar also, extras/calendar/alarm.

  • Could someone explain on examples when do we use dynamic link?

I noticed hashmarks (#) around some MII expressions and I still don't understand when should I use them...
What was the intention to introduce dynamic link into MII?
    thx
    1. at certain places the hashmarks must be there
    2. at certain places the hashmarks mustn't be there
    3. at certain places the hashmarks could be there

    Hi Tibor,
basically, hashmarks are used when you want to subsitute some values dynamically.
Let's say you have a local variable named Temp whose value is section ID which changes depending on employee ID.
Now you want to pass this to a query, you cannot obviously pass the ID but assign it to Local.Temp and Pass '#Local.Temp#' to it to substitute the value dynamically.
So the query is called with different Temp values generated dynamically depending on some logic.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Swaroop

  • My Ipod shut off and wont turn back on even when its been fully charged, and it was working perfectly fine 4 hours ago. What do I do?

I don't know what happened as it was working perfectly fine, and all of a sudden it shuts off and even when I pressed down on the on and home buttons at the same time, it wouldn't turn on. I don't know what to do.

  • My Macbook Pro ran out of battery last night and wouldn't turn back on even when connected to power for a period of time. However, when I woke up, it did turn on. Is there a reason this happened and should I get it looked at?

Last night, I was watching something on my Macbook Pro and it died (out of battery). I went to plug it in and waited a couple of minutes to try and start it back up. However, when I connected the power source the light was green, which could not have been the case since I know 100% it was out of battery. I proceeded to hold the start button for a long period of time, but my computer made no noise and refused to turn on - it looked like for all intensive purposes it was dead. I left it alone overnight praying that it would be alright in the morning and luckily, when I opened the computer this morning it was restarted and fine. I'm concerned because I've had this happen to me a couple of times and while it always turns back on, I feel like there is a bigger issue that I need to get addressed. Can anyone help me with this? Any ideas? Thank you!

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • Please please help:my iPhone 3GS 32gb on iOS 6.0.1keeps turning off unexpectedly even when charge is 100% and cannot power on unless connected to power...please help here

Please help here...the iPhone doesn't turn on unless connected to power

Take it in to an Apple Store if you can.  The genius bar can very quickly test if it is just the battery showing its age or not.  If it is the battery, you can get it replaced through Apple
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html
Depending on how it has been used though, it may not be the battery.  My old iPhone 32GB 3Gs is still good for about 6-7 hours of continuous use (as an iPod touch these days) and it was bought new in 2009 shortly after the 3Gs became available at AT&T stores.  So yours might be experiencing some hardware failure not the actual battery itself.

  • My IpodTouch won't turn on! Even when the charger is plugged in.

I suspect it's a battery issue. Anyway, I was listening to music, browsing the internet when it suddenly powered down. I guess the battery life went out. So I plugged the charger in. The screen suddenly turns white. I play around with it, to see if it will change back, but it doesn't. Then the Ipod completely turns off. Now I can't turn it on at all.
I didn't drop it or anything. So I hope the warranty covers this. I SHOULD have the limited one year warranty because I bought this is January of 2010. Also, I did just restore it yesterday...so that might be a factor.
Help someone? And even if you can't help me to somehow fix it, does anyone know if I can get it repaired under the warranty?
    Thanks.
