My Powerbook was stolen!

Someone broke into my home this morning and made off with my powerbook! I submitted a police report already, and gave them the serial number and a detail description.
does anyone have any other advice about this?
I'm quite heartbroken over this situation.

you might have a look here: http://www.pbzone.com/stolen.shtml
the following was noted there:
If a PowerBook is stolen, the serial number should be immediately
reported to the Apple tech support center (800 SOS-APPL). Apple keeps a
database of serial numbers for use in verifying a machine's warranty
status. Every Apple Authorized Service Center checks with Apple to make
sure that any machine brought in for service has a valid serial number,
and that the machine is under warranty. Apple will also tell the
service tech at that time whether a given serial number shows up as
being stolen.
Hope that helps and you did not loose too much

  • PowerBook was stolen! What now!? Please help!

My beloved G4 PowerBook was recently stolen and with it all of the 600+ songs that I've downloaded from the iTunes music store. However, I still have my iPod mini containing all of the songs and the installation CD that came with it. My question is this:
If I purchase a new MacBook to replace my PowerBook and install the iPod mini's software onto the new computer, will I be able to transfer the music that is currently on my iPod mini to the new computer?
Right now my iPod's battery is completely depleted and I have no means of charging it. It would quite upsetting (to say the very least) if my music was trapped on an iPod that I can no longer charge.
Any help with this matter would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated!

    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I visited the VersionTracker web site and there appear to be several utilities that I could use to transfer the mp3 files to my new Macbook. Do you have any recommendations? PodWorks 2.8.5 seems to be what I'm looking for.
I've used PodWorks and it seems to work quite well, but I'm sure there are other utilities that would also work.
Do I need to install the iPod mini's software onto my new Macbook BEFORE using PodWorks or a similar utility?
All you need is iTunes, which will come pre-installed on any new Mac. So you don't need to install anything at all other than PodWorks or whatever other utility you choose.
Again, when you connect your iPod, don't let it synchronize to the blank iTunes library. To be sure of preventing this, while connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on the Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to run the transfer utility.
    Good luck.

  • My Ipod Shuffle was Stolen

Any one ! please help ... my ipod was my life it went everywhere with me and then it was stolen from my friends purse... I registered it the same day it was stolen... I have the reciept, original box and eerything for it .. even the head phones! if any one knows of something I could do... or a way i could inform apple please email me at [email protected] ASAP!
    -Thanks

fact is that in order for the Shuffle to be used it
must be registered with iTunes. From what I
understand the serial number is recorded by Apple.
The shuffle is linked to a particular copy of iTunes, but it may not be true that the iPod's actual serial number is transmitted all the way back to Apple. I don't believe that's true. Apple knows about your copy of iTunes (for Music Store purposes), and your copy of iTunes knows about your iPod, but I have read nothing to suggest that there is a final Napster-style hardware tracking link between your iPod all the way back to Apple. And I never remember sending any personal iPod shuffle registration info to Apple. I'm the type that avoids filling out those forms.
It is unlikely that anyone will be able to help track a stolen shuffle. Stories abound on many forums about people who have had $2500 PowerBooks stolen and have no quick way to track them over the Internet, and Apple does not assist you there. Now the shuffle is not even a big-ticket item like that. In the big picture, even the 1GB shuffle costs less than some people's shoes. But we think of iPods as valuable because they provide a personalized experience.
I am not being unsympathetic here. I lost a shuffle last year, due to my own carelessness. The thing is so small I took it out at a restaurant to show a friend, put it down next to me on the seat in a huge wraparound booth table, and forgot about it when we left. I probably knocked it to the floor without knowing it. I inquired with the restaurant the next day but nobody saw it. I assumed another customer found it and took it home (this is when they were new and cool). My main thought? I was glad I didn't buy a $400 iPod. I just went and bought another shuffle. And this week they just dropped the prices on them.
I hope Mindi is luckier than I was, and gets it back!

I have one apple ID for both my Iphone 4S and Ipad. My Ipad was stolen from me and when I checked the iCloud, it can only locate the Iphone 4S. How can I locate the Ipad device?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

  • I've had three laptops all connected to my itunes account, one was stolen, the other broke, how can I remove them from my itunes account?

So, in three years, after getting an iphone and an apple account I've had to replace a laptop twice due to theft or damage. When I link my phone to my new computer, it asks me if I want to connect the computer with the phone and I say yes, but you can only have 5 devices connected to one account, since one was stolen, and the other laptop broke, how do I remove them from my account??

De-authorise all, then authorise the one you still have.

  • My laptop was stolen, how do I get my purchases back?

Recently, my laptop was stolen and I was just wondering if it would be possible to get all my past iTunes purchases back? I had a lot of movies and music that were on that computer. Unfortunately, I only had some of the purchases on my iPod. Can anyone help me? I really want to be able to retrieve my past purchases. Thanks!

Was your backup copy of your computer stolen as well?
If not, then use your backup copy to put everything back.
In the U.S. only you can use icloud to get music back. Open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links.

  • My daughter lost (or possibly was stolen) her I pod touch

My daughter lost (or possibly was stolen) her ipod Touch (4th gen I believe) We've done everything to retrieve it but can's seem to locate it.  I've ordered a new one, what is the easiest way to get her previous paid apps on the new ipod (also a 4th gen) I have the original case to the old one so I know the SN (not sure that's helpful or not) I have the find my ipod app but unless it hooks to the web i'm guessing that's not very helpful.
What I want to do is just get the paid apps from the old ipod to the new one.  I'm not that swift with itunes but I'm guessing there must be a way to transfer them.  Can anyone give me some pointers on how to do this?
    Thanks in advance,

  • My iMac was stolen...I have the serial #..can i do anything?

My iMac was stolen a while ago, along w/ the iPod touch that was attached to it charging.  Basically someone broke into my apartment while I was out on a Friday night.  No, I didn't have renters insurance (amatuer hour, I know).
So I recently discovered the serial numbers online for these 2 items while I was looking through the Apple support website for another item I own.  I added them to independant 3rd party stolen property databases online, but there are a lot and I feel its not too centralized.
It seems to be common sense that if one must register the serial number, then its possible that these serial numbers popped up when a new person tried to use the computer/ipod...say, like when they try to use iTunes under their new ID or if they for some reason were dumb enough to re-register these serial numbers to themselves.  Is there any way to find this info out?  All I'd want to know is if someone registered these products.  If I knew that, then I could at least let the police know and have them get the info from Apple (because I doubt they'd give it to any joe-shmo) and let them do their thing.

All you can do is provide the serial number to the police and hope that they get lucky and can recover your property. Apple has no system for tracking stolen property, and will not give you any information about whether or not someone else has re-registered the serial number. This is for privacy reasons; they have no way of verifying that an item was indeed stolen (and not just reported as stolen as a prank or by a disgruntled seller) unless Apple is contacted by an authorized law enforcement agency.
Sorry about the loss. Good luck getting it recovered.
    Regards.

  • My iPod was stolen! I need to access info it saved to the iCloud!

A couple of weeks ago, my iPod Touch was stolen by my downstairs neighbors.  Long story, but I know it was them.  I had been using it as a motion-activated surveillance camera.  I was using an app called iVigilo SmartCam+ with the extra addons, like motion sensor and video recording.  So, one of the options in the app allows for these videos to be saved to my Camera Roll, Apple's iCloud, and iVigilo's Cloud.  That's three different places.
Now, I've managed to access the files saved from iVigilo's Cloud, which was 99% of the video.  According to an admin of the app, the last "event" only showed up as a photo instead of a video, was because the app or device or internet was interrupted before the video could be saved to the cloud.  The app first takes a photo when motion is detected, which is then used as the thumbnail to the video in the app when reviewing the saved events.
So, the admin told me that there is still a small chance that even part of that video could be saved to Apple's iCloud.  Now, he told me that this is possible if using a Mac computer, but I unfortunately do not own or even know anyone with a Mac.  I only have Windows computers.  Now, when I open iCloud on my pc, if I click on "Manage..." it pops up a new window and shows me that I have some backups saved, mail saved, but also that iVigilo has what looks like all three days' worth of footage saved, but all iCloud lets me do is delete it, but I sure don't want to do that.  I've been told about the "Mobile Documents" folder that gets saved by iCloud on a Mac, but how do I get my info of the iCloud with a pc?
Or, is it possible somehow to force my iPhone to use the iPod's backup?  Maybe the video I need got saved to my Camera Roll in time?
Oh, and I had the Find my iPhone thing turned on on the iPod and used the Lost Mode for it from my iPhone, but either the theif wiped the iPod, just isn't telling it to connect to WiFi (I had auto-ask to join networks turned off), or they short-circuited the device when they stole it because the power cable was plugged in at the time and they either riped or cut it right from the cable.  I immediately called the cops at what turned out to be 5 hours after the theft, but the cops said that without proof and the neighbor denying it, they couldn't do anything about it.  The neighbor denied to the cop about even knowing the device was there, which turned out to be a lie because the last actual video I have been able to access shows her going down the stairs, stops next to the device (which is at this point in a black fabric case I made myself and this fabric case is zip-tied to the metal stair railing. The entire device is covered except a hole I cut out for the camera.), she then bends over to look at the front of the camera, and then continues down the stairs, goes into her apartment, leaving the door open, talks to her sister that's inside the apartment, and you hear her clearly say, "There is a f***ing camera setup out here on the stairs."  Then, barely two minutes later, when the camera detects the next movement is just the photo taken, showing that sister coming out of the apartment towards the device.  How is this NOT enough evidence to get her???  So, if I can even get just a little bit of that missing video, there couldn't be anymore doubts!

You can restore the iPhone from an iPod backup as long as the iOS version on the iPhone is equal to or greater than the iOS version on the iPod. If you restore from iTunes backup all the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.that iTunes makes.

  • My old iPhone was stolen and now I'm wondering how to transfer songs I'd purchased on my old iPhone to my new one. My iTunes account recognizes the sons I've purchased and I can see them in my purchases history but I don't know how to access them. HELP!

So, when I plugged in my new iPhone to my computer, all my music, info, pictures, etc was uploaded from the last time I had synced my old iPhone that was stolen. I'm happy I didn't lose everything, but I also had purchased at least $30 in music on my old iPhone (NOT through the computer, just off my device) since that last sync. So my problem is, my iTunes account completely realizes I've purchased all that music but it is NO where in my purchased library on my computer or new iPhone (so the whole "just right-click and transfer you purchases" gimmick is a no-go). And when I go to the individual songs I'd bought to try and get them back, all it says is I've already bought the song but won't tell me the NO MAN'S LAND that these songs are hiding in!!
I've looked up a bunch of threads and am still unsuccessful. I know that I should be able to get these purchases back onto my new iPhone and my authorized computer but I just have no idea how. It is becoming increasingly frustrating and I realllly do not want to spend another $30 on stuff I've already bought so anything would be helpful at this point.
    Thanks,
    Olivia

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?
