The last few times I've used headphones in my iPad, the audio has been all messed up to the extent where it's better to just use the internal speakers and not the headphones. I've tried multiple pairs of headphones to no avail.
The iPad was bought in mid-June, but I did not get extended Apple-Care warranty on it. Any idea of what's happenening?

Multiple means how many? If only 2 or 3, they could all be faulty. Try the headphones in some other device, to make sure they are OK. Or there could be something wrong with the headphone port.
Your iPad is still covered by the 1-year warranty so you should make a Genius appointment and have it looked at.
Another thing to try is to plug in the headphone jack a few times in succession to see if it frees up something inside the port.

  • The screen of my iPod has gone all red.

The screen of my iPod has gone all red and the whites have become blue rain like thing. Its one and a half year old iPad. Really disappointed

    "Not to my knowledge."
Hmmm. Are you being completely open with us?
If it was dropped by friend or family, other threads here on this phenomemna indicate slapping it on the back a couple of times with increasing intensity caused the screen to return to normal....but no comment on how long it remained normal. Do a search on this forum for "red screen."
If you can state with certainty that it was not dropped, and if it is still under extended warranty, and if the Apple store believes you, they may give you a rebuilt one.

So just to be clear on a few things:
Should partitioning the hard drive not work is it undoable?
Will this have any impact on doing a complete erase and reinstall and will that restore it back from the process?
Is there a limited amount of space that makes this process ineffective?
I have never had to do this sort of thing so I just want to be sure I don;t wind up in the dog house *)
    Thanks again

  • Macbook screen has gone all fuzzy

Yesterday I updated my mac with the new SMC firmware.
On the restart my screen has gone all fuzzy, and the colours have gone all strange.
It does this in both mac OS X, windows vista and the boot screen. When I take a screen grab of the screen and send it to another computer the image is normal, as if this problem did not occur.
I've done a hardware test from my install disks and it turned up no problem. I have also tried resetting the SMC firmware by turning the laptop off, unplugging the battery and holding the power button, but so far nothing has changed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    GfulDedFan,
    Thank you for your reply,
I might have been wrong about the SMC update.
I got the update on my machine on the 17th, and I wasn't sure what exactly it was, and assumed it was the SMC update as it came out on the same date.
My machine is running an Intel chip set and was purchased in mid-2007.

  • Where did the iPhone Calendar list function(s) go with iOS7? The Calendar has gone all 'spread sheet' on me and definitely not user friendly. Please advise.

Where did the iPhone Calendar list function(s) go with iOS7?  The Calendar has gone all 'spread sheet' on me. If you select an item (grey dot) from the month display it will open up the 'spread sheet' at the current time of day, not necessarily when the calendar entry takes place.  I liked iOS6 where you could turn your iPhone to landscape mode and get that special 'spread sheet' feel if that's what you're into.  Has a 'List' presentation been removed from the iPhone Calendar with iOS7?

The List view is displayed by tapping the Search magnifying glass.

  • Two-Thirds of my screen has gone all funny

Can anyone help? About two days ago I turned on my MacBook and just to the left of the camera a section on the screen had some faulty dots on it. It was all contained within a 2 inch strip from top to bottom. Now not only is there that but everything to the right of that area is distorted. When I took a snapshot of the screen that area appeared fine! I am confused and do not know what to do!
    Any help advice welcome!
    Thanks

I have been having the same thing happen to my screen as well. It started a couple weeks ago and it happens after I travel. I open the laptop and it has these small blinking random dots in a 2" ribbon down the screen, just to the left of the camera. They distort and appear to cluster around any graphics. After a day or two they go away. When I travel my MacBook is always in a padded sleeve and I am careful not to toss it around.....anyone have any thoughts on what is up?

  • Finder has colors all messed up.

My problem is that when I log into the administrator account on my Aluminum iMac, all of the colors are messed up, and the screens looks like it was drawn from a comic book. This only affects the administrator account, when I log into the other accounts, the problem is non-existent. I recently installed the Facebook iPhoto exporter, would this be the problem, although I uninstalled and restarted.
    Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I tried to screen grab the desktop, but when I open the file on another user account, it appears normal.

Open the Universal Access system preference and see if the Display on the Seeing pane is set to White on Black. If it is, select Black on White and that should get your display back in order. Also make sure that the Enhance Contrast slider is set to "normal".
    Hope this helps.

  • Why are the websites all messed up?

Hello. I don't know how to explain this. But a few months ago, all the websites I load on Firefox were fine. But its been a month that all the websites are like messed up. The thing is that if I want to login to Yahoo Mail, the login bar and the password bar is tiny. And even if I type anything, it won't show what I am typing. I don't know what is wrong. IE won't even open the whole website and Chrome is also messed up.

If this is happening on Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer, then it seems like it might be an issue on your computer itself.
However, you can try doing a few things. Read [[How to clear the cache]], also, [[Websites look wrong]]. These two websites may be of some assistance.
You can also Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

  • MacBook Pro Core Duo 2GHz display has gone all weird!

I've just booted my MacBook Pro up and the initial Apple logo you see on boot up was looking all weird. Like the lines were broken up, the picture had gone kinda fuzzy.
Reaching the desktop, the OS X default background had turned in to about 6 colours. Blue, purple, green, gold, turquoise, yellow.
I've tried rebooting several times, I've even booted in to my Vista partition but none has fixed the problem.
Connecting my external display to it (30-inch Cinema Display) shows my picture perfectly fine, so I guess it's a display issue?

    Thanks for the reply.
I've just been on the phone to their overseas technical support with the most unclear line ever.
Because my MBP is over its 90 day complimentary support, they need me to take it to a service center.
This is the third time I've had a problem with this same unit.
First time was the recall for the whining noise, second the hard drive died and now this is the third with the display.
I can't believe Apple will not offer me anything better than to bring it in to a service center.
I remember doing that when the hard drive died and without a car it was a nightmare getting there, back and there again to collect and return.
So I said, how about I pay for a courier to send it to you and for it to come back? Nope, they don't offer that service.
I hear all sorts of great stuff about Apple Customer Support, but it's a shame the majority of these stories come from the US.
Why is Apple UK so insistent on giving service that is under par with what I can get with a £300 laptop from Currys or PC World?

  • IBook G3 500 MHz; screen has gone all catawampus

My immediate thought was a fouled up logic board, but the symptoms don't seem an exact fit.
The silly thing was working just fine up until this evening, when I suddenly found myself only able to see what was in the top 1/4 of the screen. The bottom 3/4 was pitch black. I rebooted several times, and the black finally gave way to technicolor vertical lines. They are preferable aesthetically, I suppose, but are still proving to be entirely opaque. The cursor, if this makes any difference, disappears behind these lines when moved into the bottom section of the screen.
I plugged the laptop into an external monitor, and everything is fine on the external monitor, but it's a bit bulky, and not really what I had in mind for carting around...
I have tried resetting the PMU and PRAM, to no effect.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Other than hope for a good tax return and plan on a shopping spree?

It sounds like you know about the logic board problems covered by the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program.
It sounds like the logic board bug has bitten your iBook. Since it's way past the three-year limit, it's doubtful that Apple will repair it for free, although it wouldn't hurt to call and ask for Customer Relations and ask if they will make an exception the three-year rule in your case.
If they say "No," do you think your iBook would enjoy a trip to sunny California? DT & T Computer Services of Fremont, California does free diagnostics, and will replace the logic board for $225 plus shipping.
Or you can wait and see if new models are announced at MacWorld Expo on Tuesday and then go wild with the credit card in anticipation of that tax refund.

  • IMessage has gone all wonky

Hey all, so just before Christmas I came home and my iMsg dates and time started showing up as odd little squares with symbols in them as opposed to actual numbers/letters. Sometimes they'd be a series of squares with just the capital letter "A" in them. While trying to work this out I suddenly lost the ability to send messages to non iOS devices. I looked at "enable text forwarding" and sure enough it was turned off. When I switch it on it says to enter the code from the computer but theres no code window appearing on my mac. Tonight I came home and the date/times have reappeared but are tracked waaaaaaaaay out. I was loving Yosemite before this but what the H E double hockey sticks?
Here's the odd little boxes where my phone number is supposed to be:
and here's my fun new ultra happy time stamps:

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
              File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

  • Install has  gone all wrong

    My ipod broke.
guess what? i bought a new one! i have an imac G5 and was on OSX 10.3.X(.8 i think) anyway, got my new ipod 'classic' wey hey! and.... cant use it, as its system requirements need 10.4!!!!
perhaps i was wrong to assume an ipod classic mp3 player woudlnt need an operating system upgrade but ill not moan!
bought Leopard to more expense, which arrived today, chose the install option, which promted me to re-start and begin the installation setup, but it re-started and got to a grey screen with whirring rainbow wheel and stuck there for around 30 minutes atleast, the disk drive sounded busy but it was getting nowhere so i used the power button to re-start and its stuck on the grey apple icon screen with the progress circle moving round and round and the disk making sounds again...
going on holiday tomorrow so in a panic to get it sorted as long boat/train and plane rides without my ipod will be a nightmare!

As I said, if your iMac is the one described in the "this one" link, it only came with 256 MB of memory unless you ordered extra memory from Apple when you bought it, using the "BTO" (built to order) option available only from Apple; or you or someone else added to or replaced the original memory modules with larger aftermarket ones. FWIW, Apple's BTO memory upgrade is relatively pricey; most people remember if they used it.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with Macs that came with 10.3.x installed so I'm not sure your original installer discs (not the new Leopard one) has an option to run System Profiler from its "Utilities" or similarly named menu. If it does, you can start up from that disc & instead of running the installer, use its copy of System Profiler to tell you how much memory is installed. This should tell you if insufficient memory is the problem or not.
As a general rule, to avoid unpleasant surprises don't neglect your responsibility to make sure you can meet the minimum system requirements of your potential purchases before you buy them. For Apple products, the online Store is an easy source of this info, for instance at iPod classic - Apple Store (U.S.) or Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.).

  • Sound has gone all whacky

Somehow my settings have changed, but I'm not sure where or how. When I go to play something on youtube, in itunes, or in quicktime, the sound is either very faint, distant and thin, or is just a bunch of shreiks and squeeking noises.
Any idea what the problem is?
    Thanks

Sounds more like a computer problem than just QT. Suggest that you re-post over in the Using your Intel-based iMac Forums. Took a guess as that is the model iMac you based on your previous postings in the above mentioned forum.
In the meantime check your Sound Settings:
System Preferences>Sound>Input. Also check your output settings.
    Another place to check:
    1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
    2. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
    3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
