My print job is very slow. Appears to print a line then pause for awhile before printing another

psc 2175xi printing problems.  Appears to print a line followed by a long pause before printing the next line or two.  I tried turning off the power to reset the printer, tried troubleshooting with online services and also tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  Not sure what to try next.  Any ideas?

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  I do not recall if the the PSC 2175 supports reserve mode printing with one cartridge removed, but try the following: Remove the black cartridge and print a test page.  Does the printer print at normal speed?  Is so the black cartridge was the issue and should be replaced.  If not then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge and print test page.  If the printer now prints normal speed the color cartridge was at fault and needs to be replaced.

    Look under:
    System preferences > Network > WiFi > ( Advanced ) > DNS
    System Preferences > Network > Ethernet > ( Advanced ) > DNS
There should be two or more IP addresses there.
Those addresses should be EXACTLY the ones your current ISP provided when you signed up for service. They do not start with 85 or 86 -- those are hacker sites.
If you are in the US, you could also use OpenDNS:

  • Large Multiplot XY Graph very slow to update visibility/color/line width changes

    Hello everyone,
I have an interesting problem for you all. I am trying to update characteristics of a large XY graph (3600 data points for each of 160 different plot lines, all on one graph) by reference and it's going incredibly slowly.
What I have set up is a system where mousing over certain other indicators and buttons will "highlight" certain groups of plots by making the plot lines a thickness of 2 instead of 1. Similarly, clicking other buttons will change plot colors or toggle visibility of certain plots. To implement this I have a subvi that takes a reference to the xy graph and, in a for loop for each active plot, applies the changes I wish to see made. The problem is that this takes over a minute to complete for just one update!! I'm supposed to be plotting new points every second, and mouseovers and button clicks can happen many times in a second, so this is obviously unacceptable.
I noticed that as I'm looping through all 160 plots in the subvi, the XY graph is updating, one plot at a time. My question is: Is there some way to keep the graph from updating until all the changes have been made? Or maybe some way of applying all the changes at one time, instead of using a for loop?
I have discovered that if I simply drag out a HUGE xy graph property node and do everything all at once instead of in a for loop, the changes appear instantly as desired. Is this really what I have to do to achieve the results I want? It is incredibly time consuming and unmaintainable to have a gigantic property node will all stages of the for loop being applied at once.
    Help is greatly appreciated!

    Two things you can consider:
    1) Defer Panel Updates.  Set to True before the Loop and False afterwards.  Speeds things like this up considerably.
    2) No way you can see 3600 points on a graph.  With this many plots I would consider decimation of the data to reduce the number of displayed points.
This works amazingly well! In my absolute worst case scenario it takes about 70ms to update all 160 plots for 60 minutes worth of data (3600 points) where as before it took over 240000ms. 70ms is obviously a huge improvement and I thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Just as a side note, unfortunately I do have to display up to 3600 points, the end users want to see up to an hours worth of previous data (more even, if possible). Unless you are suggesting I should somehow cut out data, like 4 out of every 5 data points for instance? Part of the problem with cutting out points like that is that there are occasionally spikes in the data that consist of a single point. Cutting out data might remove these which would be a problem. The end users need to be able to spot these spikes when they occur. But perhaps a more complicated decimation that identifies outliers and plots them no matter what to ensure that the spikes remain and only decimate the remaining data? That could get tricky quickly, but doable I suppose.
Thanks for all the help guys, if anyone has any other methods they think might work as well, I would be interested in trying them too to compare, but Darin's solution will work great.

  • Very slow wirelesss when using iPhone 4S' personal hotspot for a MacBook Pro (MBP)...

    Hello.
Last night, I was helping a client with his old iPhone 4S' personal hotspot as shown in http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4517 web page. It uses Verizon Wireless 3G for his 4 GB data cellular connection. We got the wireless (WPA2) connection to work fine, but it was very slow like crappy dial-up modem speeds. Is this normal? iPhone's iOS v8.1.2's top screen says 1X (is this a speed number?) and left of MBP. Updated Mac OS X 10.8.5's top screen shows an infinite(?) symbol instead of that wifi arc symbol.
    Thank you in advance.

yes, 1x is a speed indicator, and it is very slow. Even with 3g speeds, hotspot will be pretty slow, but still ok for simple surfing and emails and such, streaming not so much. For hotspot, you really kinda want to have at least 4g, preferably LTE.
About that 1x speed, you may want to see if you get that everywhere or just in that location. Ideally, in a good coverage area, you should not be getting such slow speeds. Might have something to do with the building you are in though. If you get the same outdoors, and your coverage area is good, you may want to call in and have someone troubleshoot your signal.

  • CiscoWorks - Job Browser very slow

    Hello,
We are running LMS 3.2 and I am trying to access Common Services -> Server -> Admin -> Job Browser but it is extremely slow. Waited for half hour yet it is processing the response page.
    Please assist.
    Thanks.

this sounds as you have running LMS for quite a while but job purging is not configured (or not properly configured)
When the job browser page opens, how many jobs are listed? You will see the job count in the upper right corner above the table.
one starting point to look at is:
Resource Manager Essentials > Admin > System Preferences > Job Purge
if there are no purge jobs configured, schedule and enable these jobs.
With LMS 3.2 you can also filter for specific jobs (CS > Server > Admin > Job Browser), select those with many instances and delete the historic job infos. BUT DO NOT DELETE the INSTANCES of jobs which are scheduled to run in the future (otherwise these jobs are deleted and will need to be reconfigured).

the server configuration and Database configuration are same on both the environment.
We are unable to understand why it consume so much time on SIT2 environment since the amount of data import on both server is equal.
During application import Job , no other task run on database server.
Any suggestion to tune this , would highly appricited.

  • Very slow download speed though modem line rate no...

    Hi
I recently noticed (today, 31st December) that our download speed had dropped very low, to approx 0.5Mbps. The upload speed is normal, approx 1Mbps. The modem line rate is however normal (8Mbps dowm, 1Mbps up). I have checked the download speed using http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/. I am at postcode SK237FN and have had consistently reliable download speeds for several years, 5-7Mbps.
    Please help!
I already tried rebooting my router but this has not improved matters.
    Thanks...

  • Very slow performance. Numbers is pokey, that's for sure.

I'm mainly interested in using this thread to see how many others feel the same way; that Numbers is slow in general. At least on my machine it is. I get much better performance from the ancient MS Excel 2000 running in Windows XP via Parallels on the same machine. And XP is running in less than 400 megs of RAM!
I know it's a 1.0 release, but scrolling, opening .csv files, formatting multiple columns, all are slower than my old MS Excel. Given that Parallels is not multi-core aware, is virtualized, is running an 8 year old version of Excel, and is running in less than half the available RAM, I really expected Numbers running natively to make a better showing for itself.

Forget the unfair comparisons to excel, numbers can't even keep up with AppleWorks!
I have a spreadsheet in Apple Works that I use to track revenue and profit for my business. I enter two numbers per day: Total Sales and Total Profit. There are 6 calculation columns that display 7 and 28 day running averages for sales, profit and margin each day. The spread sheet is about 1400 rows (one row per day). No special formatting, no formulas more complicated than if(), sum() and average().
    In Appleworks:
Data entry: instant - as fast as I can type.
Create a line chart on 6 columns and 1400 rows: 5 seconds
    Memory usage: 11 MB
    In Numbers:
Data entry time: Spinning beachball for ~10 minutes after each keypress (yes, REALLY)
Create chart: Unknown, maybe not possible. (Still waiting after 1 hour of spinning beach ball and 100% processor usage)
Memory usage: 1009MB (yes, ONE GIG), plus 2GB VM file (!!!).
I mean, how sad - ONE HUNDRED times more memory usage and over ONE HUNDRED tomes SLOWER. Absolutely terrible. If I were the engineer on this project I would be absolutely ashamed of the performance.

  • Very slow connection speed, after phone line probl...

My catalogue of problems starts about a month ago. The phone line developed heavy interference and my Broadband connection kept dropping. This was diagnosed as being a fault with my HH 1.5. BT duly sent me a replacement HH3 which arrived about 3 days later. I installed the new hub, changed all the wiring and the filters for the new kit that came with the hub only to discover that the interference on the phone line was now even worse. It was so bad that at times you could not even hear what was being said on the other end of the phone, so an engineer visit was arranged.
A week later a BT engineer came and checked the line, sure enough there was a second problem and all the wiring from my house to the nearest telephone pole had to be replaced.
These problems had had a catastrophic effect on my connection speed and profile (I was getting about 500 kbps both up and down stream), so I dutifully reset the hub after the engineer had finished and waited for the line to stabilise.
14 days later and the upload speed had doubled, but the download speed is still unchanged at 570 kbps, about half the current upload speed. The line was a bit temperamental for the first few days but I have been able to maintain a solid connection for the last 4 days, current stats are as follows:

  • T61: Very slow transfer/copy (write) speeds, disk goes offline, for 1TB HGST (in 2nd HD caddy)

I put in a small 250GB Samsung SSD in my aging T61 (T7300 2GHz, 4GB RAM). Results while mixed are better than my existing 1TB HGST drive. I also decided to move my 1TB drive to the 2nd HD caddy (in place of the DVDRW).
However, I noticed that the transfer (write) speed is extremely poor. Shortly thereafter during transfers, it aborts, and the 2nd HDD goes offline (and is not even visible in Windows Explorer). Checking Device Manager does not reveal any lack of or missing drivers. I did however run Samsung's Magician software (with reliable settings, instead of high performance settings). I wonder if that made any changes to cause this.
I am wondering if it would make more sense to boot off of SSD in the 2nd HD caddy instead of the primary bay, have not tried this option?
Any additional configuration help/ideas/tips will be gratefully appreciated!

Your SSD will be able to read/write at speeds upto SATA1 specs allow (1.5 Gb/s). This can be increased to upto 3.0Gb/s if you install the "middleton" bios which is a lenovo bios that was modified by a 3rd party, however transfers to your ultrabay will be reduced to PATA speeds so even though you have an SATA drive, your max transfer speed will be limited by the interface. This usually isn't a problem because most users keep the data that requires fast access on the primary drive like your OS, installed programs and swap files and use the second drive just for storage.
This should explain the speed issues, but not why your drive is cutting out. If you're using a generic adapter that could be the cause. I've seen some that have poorly fitted connectors and when it comes to generic parts it's difficult to tell the good ones from the bad and the genuine adapters are difficult to find. The only easy way I can think of to confirm this theory would be to substitute a known good part which would be a problem if you don't have one handy.
