hi,
my printer Deskjet 5550, print cartridge no,56. in malaysia where can get it. or have any cartridge same use it.

i'm having the same problem and i'm guessing since no solution has been posted it's a HP defect.
cartridge light is blinking and green E in the window
i hope the solution is posted soon or my next printer won't be a HP.
has anybody got this to work?
Printing an alignment page using the printer control panel
Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the On button. Release both buttons.
Press and release the Cancel button.
Press and release the Copies button.
Press and release the Paper Type (Photo) button.
Press and release the Color Start Copy button. An alignment sheet prints.
Step one: Print and time a test page
Follow these steps to print a test page:
Load plain paper in the tray.
Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button The self-test page prints.

The Acrobat printer produces a PS file that is then sent to the Distiller process to create a PDF. The other PPD you mention is something I know nothing about. However, why would you want to use a different driver? The Adobe PDF driver is optimized for use in creating PDF files and other routes may not produce as good of a result. If the other PPD produces a PDF, then why are you asking about the Adobe driver?

The USB cable is standard, so you could get it from any computer shop.
The power cable...I don't know. I also need one or a Deskjet F2235.

Where can get a full printed Soundtrack Pro maual?

I bought Logic Studio recently and it only contains a "Getting Started" Maunual for Soundtrack Pro (about 150 pages or so). Since I am new to Soundtrack I would like to have a printed version of the actual (600+ pages) Soundtrack Pro Manual in full length. Where can I get it? I couldn't find it in the Apple Store.

You are right: a printed manual does not exist. I called Apple support today and the guy confirmed that there is only the PDF file and no printed books other than a Getting Started guide (included in print in both Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio).

Recentley printing most documents in firefox print on 1/4 of the page and not the complte document. When I print the same thing in safari it prints fine. Please advise how I can get proper printing in firefox

When using Firefox to print most documents ( boarding passes, mastercard statements,genealogy documents) the printing only shows on 1/4 of the page, is in the lower left quarter and does not print part of the right side of the information. When I go into Safari and print the same documents within 2 minutes they always print fine. We like Firefox and would prefer to continue to use but if we can't print we will have to use Safari more often

I have the same problem with cutting of the page since installing the new version. If you manually zoom out the print it only shows 1/4 of the page on a whole page of paper. Something is wrong here.
I have done all these steps and it still does NOT print correctly!

Please I can't solve this!!! - I have an image that i need to blend into white for printing on a window foil. Where can I upload it to show what i mean?

How can I bland out the dark blues and get the effect that are on bye right image. In the illustration I have bladed it in lighten, but I need to make the same result where the transparency part is white - because the prater that prints on the window foil doesnt print white.

I had some difficulty understanding what you had written but I think this is what you had in mind.
To get this result:
1. Go to Channels and choose the Green channel. Drag it down to the Create New Channel symbol to create Green Copy.
2. Use curves to increase the density of the low end of the tonal scale. The result will look like this, except that it will include white circles.
3. To turn the white circles black, choose the Magic Wand with the Contiguous box in the Options bar unchecked and click on one of the circles. All of them will be selected,
4. Choose Select > Modify > Expand and expand the selections by 2 pixels. Then go to Edit > Fill and fill with black. It now looks like the illustration above.
5 . Go to Layers and trash the lock on the Background. Add a layer below it and fill it with white.
6. Return to the Channels panel, choose Green Copy and Select > All
7. Return to the Layers panel, choose the image layer and click on Add Layer mask.
8. Option click on the mask in the Layers panel. The image area will go white. Edit > Paste and the Green Copy Mask will be inserted in the mask.
9. Click on the eye in the Layers panel to see the completed work. Seen below
10. Last, increase the highlight contrast in the mask to increase the density of the green image.
The final layers panel will llok like this:

C5280 All-in-one Main heading is "! Print Cartridges'

I tried to print a photo from an SD card and as I selected 'print' the screen started flashing and I was prompted to restart the printer. I did this and got a warning saying "! Print Cartridges" followed by "Refer to printer documentation".
I knew my colour ink was low so went and bought a new colour ink cartridge. It loaded fine and did an alignment page.
I tried to print from the SD card again and the same problem happened. Now no matter what I do I only get the "! Print Cartridges" screen warning come up.
Can anyone help please?

Seem no one responded to your problem, I am pretty much does not like this particular printer, I run so many times with the same issue with you, and had to replace new cartridges again , it worked and re-used that silly old cartidges again, hipppoooo it worked. but the issue has never ended....at one stage , i just bought a cheap new printer .
But if you know the answer , please let me know cos 'am starting using that silly printer again and what , the same message pop up.

Deskjet 5550

My deskjet 5550 will advance a sheet of paper to the line-up point, and then it stops without printing. The print job is not listed or show in qeue, so the computer is evidently not communicating completely with the printer. The problem started when I attempted to print a copy of a .pdf file - everything was runnning great until then.
Operating system is Vista Home Edition in an eMacine desktop.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer about ten times, disconnected the power and the USB cable to the printer. When reinstalling the printer driver/software, I now get a message that the SETUPX.DLL file could not be found. I have tried to download a new file online, but am unsuccessful so far.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Hello,
It appears as though that printer only comes with Windows drivers. If there are no Mac drivers, then you may still have another option.
I have connected several "Windows Only" printers to my Macs with OS X using a USB to Parallel printer cable (or just plain USB if your printer has a USB port). It usually works just fine.
Often, you will have to download and install the Gimp-Print printer drivers and set those up (since the your printer doesn't have any Mac drivers). So, you may need to get the free Gimp-Print package installed as well.

Top and bottom shadow printing on deskjet 5550

I have a deskjet 5550 and recently it just started with shadow printing on the black both before and after the actual word. That is on the basic windows test page, you will see the very bottom of the word congratulations in light black, then the middle of the word starts, then the actual word appears in full black (the right part) then the very top of the word appears below in light gray. So it is basically printing every word twice, but the shadow printing has the word split into 3 parts starting with the bottom then middle then top. I have physically cleaned the print area of the cartridge with a damp cloth, performed alignment and basic and intermediate cleaning, even cleaned the encoder strip and still nothing has change (nothing has made it worse but nothing has helped either). If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this or next troubleshooting tips, I would really appreciate it as I can't figure out anything else to try.

Thank you for letting me know about the patches...I just updated but still have the same problem.
If I cut and paste the photo with black background box into a new document it prints ok, but when I do the same thing
on a new page within my existing document it still prints with the black box on top. Is there a preference I need to
change in order for the black box to print underneath my images? This problem also happens on another page that
has a black box under another image....

Deskjet 5550 Printer

My Deskjet 5550 printer started printing extremely slow for some reason. It takes 5 minutes to print a fourth of a page. It had been working fine. I found a website and did all the troubleshooting that was suggested, even bought a new cable. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Does the printer make a swath of the printheads, then pause for up to 15 seconds? If so I would suggest removing the color cartrdige and trying a print job. If the result is still a slow print then replace the color cartridge and remove the black cartridge, then print a page. The cartridge that is installed when the page prints slowly is the likely culprit. (Note that printing with only the color cartridge installed will be a bit slower than normal printing with the black cartridge installed. For purposes of this test you are looking for gross differences in the print speed.)

Deskjet 5550, Windows Vista, and borderless printing

I tried searching for this issue regarding my printer, but did not find it. I apologize in advance if it has already been solved.
I own/use a Deskjet 5550 to print my digital photos. Unfortunately, I am unable to get borderless prints.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, Service Pack 2
I am printing onto HP's Premium Photo Paper, glossy, 4 x 6.5 inches (has the tab on one side)
Under Control Panel I click on printers, highlight the 5550, right-click properties, and under the About tab it displays: "hp deskjet 5550 series (HPA) (61.53.25.9)" Then it lists about 27 files in the Driver Files window.
Method 1:
1) From My Computer I go to the folder where the picture is located.
2) I double-click the picture and click Print, Print...
3) In the following window I choose Printer: hp deskjet 5550 series (HPA), Paper size: Photo 4x6in. (tab), and Paper Type: HP Premium Photo Paper, Glossy
4) I next click on Options, then Printer Properties to verify these settings, as well as to adjust the Print quality, if necessary.
Method 2:
I've also tried using HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5, but that hasn't worked either. In fact, when I choose a picture to print and click on the Printer Settings tab, I find an option for Borderless printing, and the user can click on either Yes or No. Yes is greyed out for me, meaning I cannot click on it, and it is instead stuck on No.
Using either method, I still end up with a white border around three sides of the picture.
I was able to do borderless printing when I was running Windows XP, so I am kind of stumped as to why it isn't doing it anymore. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

There are a few things to check:
Print a self test page as shown here. You should have patterns of black, cyan (blue), magenta and yellow. If cyan does not print fine in this page then move to step 2, otherwise skip to step 3.
If cyan does not print in the above test then gently blot the nozzles of the color cartridge on a damp tissue. There should be a stripe of cyan, magenta and yellow. If cyan is missing here then the cartrdige is defective. If the cartridge is new and a genuine HP (not a refill) check the warranty expiration as shown here. If the cartrdige is in warranty then contact HP for a replacement. If the cartrdige is beyond its two year warranty then replace it with a fresh cartrdige. When buying new cartridges look for the "isntall by" date on the package. I would look for a package with at least six months of remaining time before the :install by" date, which would have a year of remaining warranty.
If cyan printed OK in the test page but not when printing from the computer then it is probably a driver issue. In this case I would disconnect the printer, delete the 5550 from the printers folder and then download and install the driver from HP's site here.

Unable to install and use HP deskjet 5550 printer

I have tried to install the software of my Deskjet 5550 printer multiple times. Although the system tells me that it is successfully installed, I cannot find it anywhere, and I cannot add it (the add button does not light up) when I go to the "Printer browser". One related issue is the disappearance of the "print center" from my list of utilities.
Anyone can tell me what I need to do?

Incidentally, when I ran the disk utility, another volume was there besides the main drive, with the name 232.9 GB WDC WD2etc. What is it, and should I have repaired that?
No, that is the Hard Disk itself, which contains on;y one Partion, the one you repaired.

Can you refill printer cartridges in the newest printers - i.e. the HP Deskjet 3055a

I'm thinking of purchasing a HP Deskjet 3055a - (unless anyone can think of a reason not to!) - and was wondering whether you can refill the printer cartridges, so that I don't have to buy a new cartridge every time one runs out. Is this a good printer and are the cartridges refillable?

You can refill the cartridge, but personally I would'nt do so. This could end with the ink system failing.
To answer your question, yes you can.

HP Deskjet 6980-print cartridge error

Hi - by 'compatible cartridges', do you mean refilled or non-HP cartridges? HP can't support those because they are somebody else's product - HP doesn't know what kind of ink is in them, how they were refilled, how they might have been damaged during remanufacturing, etc. Here's a support document on a comparison of reliability of HP vs remanufactured or refilled brands by QualityLogic (an independent quality assurance organization): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpa00113&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USE.... When you cleaned your electrical contacts, did you clean the contacts inside the printer as well? They are hard to get at, but you'll find them in the cradle where the cartridges go - they match up with the contacts on the cartridges. Don't use very much water at all - a barely dampened, lint-free cloth is best. And I would use distilled water, rather than rain or tap water. Rain water especially could have contaminants.
