My printer does not work if turned off during boot up.
I have the hp psc 1210 printer. If start ny computer with the printer turned off I can not print anything. Although cups can "see" the printer. hp-toolbox can't access the printer. Starting up with my printer on it works fine.
It must be an udev issue. When I start my system with the printer off and turn it on later I have to run /etc/start_udev in order to make it work without rebooting. Any ideas?
It is on a fresh installed Arch system.
Well it seems to be a known udev bug.

I update my Mac to version 10.9.2 and now my printer does not work anymore. I did all the software updates and I do not understand why my mac does not recognize the printer anymore?
Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and check to see if they have released an updated driver for your particular model.

My printer does not work with mountain lion
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer does not work. I downloaded the required driver from the App Store but am still not able to connect. Is there actually a solution for this or do I need to find a way to downgrade my OS to one that is compatible with my printer?
From the HP site:
Compatible operating systems
Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista®, Windows® XP (SP3)* or higher (32-bit only): *Supports 32-bit only; Mac OS X v 10.5, v 10.6 or v 10.7; Linux (For more information, see http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html)
But then also on the HP site they have drivers for the printer for 10.8. See here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4142&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&s w_lang=&product=4323659#N194
I would try the driver from HP. -

I just had a new hard disc installed and now the LBP0000 canon printer does not work saying it can't connect to CCPD...connection refused! pls help!!?
You need to reinstall the printer driver, and set up the printer on the new hard drive.
The Canon site should have the driver. Download it and install.
Then go to Apple menu / System Preferences / Print & Fax and click the + (plus sign) and follow the directions. -

[SOLVED] USB Harddrive via fstab turned off during Boot - Error
Hello^^
I'm trying to mount my external USB Drive.
I put the following line in fstab:
/dev/sdb1 /media/Musik ext4 noauto,user,default 0 1
I only want to start the Harddive occasionally.
The problem is, when the drive is completly turned off during boot I get the following error:
No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sdb1
Possibly non existend device?
I thought that the noauto Option should prevent fstab from mounting the hdd???
regards
cl10k
PS: Manual mounting works without any problems...
Last edited by cl10k (2011-03-20 22:49:43)Let me give you a hand then. The following I have in my /etc/udev/rules.d/11-media-by-label-auto-mount.rules, and what it does is:
-- pick the name of a drive,
-- create a dedicated /media/mountpoint name (certainly, "mountpoint" is replaced by the name of your drive),
-- mount the drive on boot,
-- unmount the drive on shutdown and delete the /media/mountpoint.
KERNEL!="sd[a-z][0-9]", GOTO="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
# Import FS infos
IMPORT{program}="/sbin/blkid -o udev -p %N"
# Get a label if present, otherwise specify one
ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}!="", ENV{dir_name}="%E{ID_FS_LABEL}"
ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}=="", ENV{dir_name}="usbhd-%k"
# Global mount options
ACTION=="add", ENV{mount_options}="relatime"
# Filesystem-specific mount options
ACTION=="add", ENV{ID_FS_TYPE}=="vfat|ntfs", ENV{mount_options}="$env{mount_options},utf8,gid=100,umask=002"
# Mount the device
ACTION=="add", RUN+="/bin/mkdir -p /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/mount -o $env{mount_options} /dev/%k /media/%E{dir_name}"
# Clean up after removal
ACTION=="remove", ENV{dir_name}!="", RUN+="/bin/umount -l /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/rmdir /media/%E{dir_name}"
# Exit
LABEL="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
Plenty of handy examples you can find in /lib/udev/rules.d/ and modify them so they meet you needs. I hope it clarifies the matter a bit.

HP 932C PRINTER DOES NOT WORK OVER A NETWORK WITH TWO DIFFERENT OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS.
I have a 932c HP printer connected via USB to a Windows XP desktop computer (Dell E520), which is part of a home network.
I also have an HP Pavilion dv5 notebook, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, connected to the same network. This notebook can find the printer over the network. However, when I try to capture the 932c printer, the following dialog box appears:
"The server for the `hp deskjet 930c series` printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipmente manufacturer for the correct printer driver."
When I click OK, another dialog box appears:
"The file `*.INF`on (Unknown) is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK."
However, I can't find any workable *.inf file in the HP notebook Hard drive (both partitions).
I have already tried to download the driver from the HP website, but it says that Windows Vista already has the driver for such printer! Well, now I'm stucked!
I'd like to point out that the printer works fine if I plug it directly to the HP notebook's USB port. But I want to operate the printer via the home network, keeping it hooked to the Windows XP desktop computer.
How to solve this problem? Thanks.This is the HP notebook forums. I would recommend posting this in the printer forums for better coverage.

Print function does not work. This may have co-insided with install of v 30 - i'm not sure. I can print from other browsers. I have reset FF to its default settings. I have reset print_printer in about:config.
My prefs.js file does not have any lines starting with "print_" - most lines start with "user_pref".
When I clik on print I get a 2 tone sound like "ding-dong" and I do not get the printer dialog box.
I can print in all other programs. I don't know what to try next - uninstall and re-install?

I think that "ding-dong" error sound might be due to an old print job stuck in the print cache, though. Open the Windows Control Panel > Printers and Faxes and check the '''Status''' for that printer. -
New router, printer does not work
A new wireless internet router and modem was installed yesterday. My printer does not respond from my MacBook Pro or my iPad. I followed all troubleshooting advice on HP and Apple websites. No luck. Apple support today suggested that my printer may need additional informatin which I cannot change. The Network ConfigurationCheck was perfect except for address changes and one other which may be significant. URLs for embedded web servers changed from http:/HP618550 to http://dhcppc2.
The Wireless Network Test Results were perfect. My computers acess the internet also without problems. Apple had me put a USB cable between the MacBook and the printer. Then the printer worked just fine. He thought (not being a printer guru) that perhaps the communication between the router and printer was the problem. Hence I come to this site. I have followed all HP site troubleshooting advice and met each criteria. HELP?After reading this through again, I am wondering if the router is unable to support Bonjour properly. Bonjour is the discovery service through which your Mac finds your printer on your network.
Although not for your identical router, this article may be helpful: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02986958&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N135
If we can't get this resolved a for-sure, kill-it-dead solution is to get a normal, standard router (Linksys or Netgear) and put it in line with your ZyXel, disabling its wireless. I can help if you want to go this way. A good standard router would be $40 and you would be done.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Reverse Printing Does not work in acrobat 9 pro
Can anyone help with this? any suggestions? I am trying to print a PDF portfolio. I need them to print in the reverse order they are currently printing in and checking the box Reverse pages does nothing??
This does not work in Acrobat XI either for Office 64bit (Office 2013 64 bit)
Does anybody know the fix for this?
I called tech support today but they dont seem to know anything about the error although its a known issue with all previous versions of Acrobat for serveral years now.
I really need to make this work, there is a random google post where I have ot make some regedits, but why can't Adobe fix this known issue since it is nothing new?
My basic understanding at this point is that even Acrobat XI is a 32 bit app and the programmers at Adobe still dont know how to write the API to talk to a 64bit mail client?
I really need some help on this if anybody has a real solution.
Thanks! -
CRVS2010 Beta - Printing does not work in Google Chrome
I 've run into an issue with printing crystal reports using Google Chrome. I've tested this on 4 different computers with the same result. When a user clicks print the printer dialog does not appear and the report will not print.
The version of Google Chrome tested is 6.0.472.63ActiveX print works on IE. But I had to do a bunch of ActiveX and security configurations in IE (Using Server 2008) - allow ActiveX download, etc., etc.
PDF print mode does not work on my computer either. However I have the same build on this box as the public download. The latest internal build does print and export to pdf with no issues. So, I suspect this was a bug, but it is now resolved and should be OK at RTM.
