I had a similar issue and I was told that my iTunes match was on.
I had to disable iTunes match on my iPhone.
Following which - after you plugged in your iPhone to iTunes, select your iPhone on iTunes menu. You should see a summary page of your iPhone where it provides options to update or restore. On the bottom there should be an option to select "sync only selected music/playlists". I can't remember the exact wording. Once that's been checked, select your iPhone's music tab and it should allow you to select the music playlists you want to sync.

with wireless carrier other than the one it was purchased from. The
update has relocked it to the original carrier. Contact the original

What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Be advised that the previous modifications to change from original carrier
to your local Carrier may have rendered the iPhone unable to be

Still very confusing... do you want to know HOW to update? If so, iOS 5.1 is no longer available, you can only download the latest 5.1.1. To do so, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.

Basic troubelshooting steps have not changed in iOS 7. Restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

Dont know if accidently fixed it or not i got it to be recogniced by itune im restoring it now. i held the power/sleep button till turned off. then while holding the home button under the screen connected it to the usb wire .. also i change the usb port i was using on my computer dont know if it was luck or what but glad i got my phone back.

my ipad 2 is "stuck" with a connect to itunes on the screen ... and itunes says it could not restore the os ... so now itunes does not recognize the ipad when connected to the pc ...i have updates all the software on the pc and disabled Norton as the troubleshoot instructions suggested; however itunes still does not recognize the ipad .... help!

Multiple Problems: iTunes does not recognize, no music, and odd click
I went to update my iPod, and after I updated it, I went to go listen to it, and it said I had no music, no videos, no photos, nothing! But if I look at the summary of the iPod, it says there is still stuff on it, however it is now orange instead of blue, before it was blue, because of all the music.
It is also making an odd clicking noise now.
Also, iTunes does not recognize my iPod. I have attempted the 5 Rs, but I cannot restore, because my iTunes does not recognize my iPod, and I attempted the steps suggested if iTunes does not recognize the iPod, and still no luck.
PUH PUH PUH PLEEEASE HELP!!i think im having the same problem, and its bull. i cant find any answers, just this 5 R stuff that definitely solves nothing. First i would plug in my ipod classic into my computer and a message would pop up saying that something has malfunctioned and i need to hook up my device to a 2.0 usb port, even though thats what it was plugged in to, so i reinstalled the drivers for the usb ports. that stoppped happening and now when i plug it in nothing happens, it turns on my ipod but itunes doesnt see it and neither does my computer! HELP!!!

as above, when i updated firefox to 7.0.1 the toolbar for roboform disappeared. updating roboform did not fix it. it does not show up as a tool bar in the view/toolbar tab. i made sure the firefox browser option was enabled in roboform.

I Updated my Iphone 5 and now it will not play or display in my car. I use the apple hotwire to USB to charge and play music in my car. It worked before the update. Is there a setting in the new software that needs adjusting ?
I have a similar problem. Prior to the 7.0.3 update my iPod touch worked properly and I could see the music folders, playlists and music lists. However, after the update it no longer works - I cannot see the playlists, the names are blank.
I do not believe your response properly answers the issue at hand. If the iPod worked properly before the update then it should work properly afterward. With the response and link above it appears it is Apple's stance that it is the radio manufacturer to make the radio work with every update. That is backwards and, in my opinion, irresponsible.
It should be Apples responsibility to make sure that the functionality of the device is the same both before and after an update. If they cannot do that then they should make it easy for the user to downgrade or uninstall the update to regain the previous functionality, at least until Apple can resolve the issue their update created.

Before now, when i normally sync my itunes with my iphone or ipad, the apps that i ve updated in my iphone or ipad automatically get updated in my itunes, after my recent update of my itunes to the latest version, that seems impossible.
