My product is unlisted?? Pavillion 15-n265nr

I received an HP Pavillion Touch Smart 15 laptop as a gift.  After fixing the Ralink wifi that didn't work out-of-the-box due to Windows 8 and installing classic shell and my other software, I decided to update all the drivers from HP.  However, HP's website does not recognize my model, product, or serial numbers.
I found a comprehensive list of Pavillion 15 SKUs and the model numbers jump from 263, 264 then to 267.  What gives?  I was able to enter my serial number to check the warranty and that was recognized and returned the correct dates.  Why is my laptop completely unsupported on the HP website?  How am I supposed to get drivers?
Thanks for any help, I've never seen this issue before!
Dylan

Hi, Dylan:
This is a consumer to consumer forum.  No one representing HP will respond to any posts here.
This is the only n265 model support page.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=6796216&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&query=15-n265&tool=
Look at the product specs.  If it has the same hardware as yours, then you can use the drivers from this model.
I will report your model is missing and ask HP to provide a support and driver page for it.

  • HP Pavillion 17 e049wm Notebook PC- Cannot Turn on

Product name: Hp Pavillion Notebook PC
    model: 17 e049wm
    Product number: E0J75UA
    Operating System: Windows 8.1
Hello, my Hp laptop is not turning on.
Last night I left it on and off the charger all night, though I believe it eventually went in "sleep mode"
This morning I plugged the charger in and attempted to turn it on, but it didnt power up,I assumed it was because the cord wasnt fully plugged into the outlet on the wall, so i didnt think much of it.
Later this evening I tried again, making sure the cord in the outlet was secure, and nothing happened. I tried all the outlets in my house. I dont have another adaptor, if I had i would have tried that.
I unplugged the power adaptor, took out the battery and then held down the power button for 30 seconds. I plugged the adaptor back in and tried to turn it on, nothing. I put the battery back in and still nothing.
I tried another time, using one of those extended outlets that has a light to let me know that its working. Still nothing, however I started to notice that the LED lights next to the power symbol where you plug the adaptor to the laptop would light up white, and then orange. I kept fiddling with it but the lights would only happen for about a second, and then stop.
I tried taking out the battery again and using only the power adaptor and this time the lights would turn on white for half a second, disspear and then blink again, only for a second or 2, and then nothing.
Im not sure what to do at this point, I dont know if its my battery, or my adaptor/charger chord, or if the little outlet plug in my laptop has a broken piece.
Any assistance on this matter would be appriciated, Im a college student and a freelance digital artist, so I NEED my laptop, ASAP

    Hi @xscemesx
I see you are having trouble with restarting your notebook after the battery ran dry.
I would start out with this page as it walks through several methods to recover. It is possible that just a hard reset could fix it. Computer does not start (Windows 8)
If it looks like a power problem then try out this one.
Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge
Also you can check out this page, if it looks like the battery is the problem.
Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8)
Let me know if that helps at all.

  • HP laptop's useless after sales support

I have been using few of HP products like HP Pavillion desktop, printers, all-in ones and one of the premium laptops, HP Pavilion DV3. recently my laptop fell from the desk and got some issue with the screen displaying some band of white & grey lines in the middle of screen. Soon after I approached one of the main HP service centre located in Intarvo, Okhla, New Delhi. The executives were hardly cooperatives and didn't shared any commercial or technical information, rather asked to submit my laptop for 2-3 days upon which only they will examine and give the pricing for which they will anyways charges Rs 300. After 2 days I received a call from them that rather than repairing they can only change the who display screen panel. and the prices quoted around Rs 17000/-, that was ridiculous as they were never interesed in repairing the same and rather replacing the whole thing to make more money. HP service centres atleast in Delhi are more of business oriented rather than help & supporting HP loyal clients.

  • LONGEVITY

In the very near future I'll be making the switch from a PC to a Mac...needless to say, i'm very excited!
I do, however, have a few concerns. I posted a topic a few days ago with a list of items I needed a computer for, and the responses I recieved (thank you all again) have helped me feel confident in my choice to switch to a Mac.
I need this computer to last me 2-4 years, and I need it to be a psuedo-desktop replacement. I'm not looking to game or use 3-D graphics software, but i need a fast and reliable machine that will churn out term papers like its nobody's business for years to come.
None-the-less,I have two areas of concern left. The most important is future proffing. I understand that the Macbook comes standard with many things PC's offer only as options (which adds to the price) but the integrated graphics used in the Macbook worries slightly. I'm afraid that in one to two years, the machine won't be able to keep up with daily apps that are becomming more and more graphically intensive. Please, if I'm grossly overestimating here, let me know!
Also, I'm a student, and I need MS Office. In fact, the majority of what I need a computer for (please see my other post "Please help this ol' PC user" for my complete list of what I need a computer for) is typing papers, viewing documents, and accesing the internet. I'm switching to mac because I'm unhappy with the perfomance of my PC, but I've read some unsavory things about the non-native MS Office 2004 on the new intel based Macs. Again, if I'm being fickle here, let me know. And if this is simply a software or hardware problem that I can fix, or has been fixed already, que me in please!
Bottom-of-the-line, I need a solid computer that will last. And I'm biased....I want the Macbook. It looks solid, I've read wonderful reviews, and Apple makes a great product. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it) I've been a PC user to long to sacrifice productivity.
HP Pavillion ze1250 (notebook computer) 1.5 ghz w/ 512 mb ram   Windows XP

I'd like to rephrase the question :
I'm also on the lookout for a new notebook (to replace both my aging G3/400 Pismo and my G4/800 Quicksilver Powermac) and I have been looking at both the Macbook and the Macbook Pro. I would go for the black Macbook with 2Gb of RAM or the low end MB Pro with 2Gb RAM (which is not really within my budget). I will also be using my computer for internet, office, itunes, but I use iMovie, iDVD and also Final Cut Express quite a lot. I'm a big movie fan and I use iMovie/FCE to edit and cut trailers from Apple's website and pieces of film I rip from DVD for use in movie quizzes a friend and I organise quite frequently. My question is : how does Apple's Macbook handle HD footage ? I imagine that in a couple of years, trailers will only be available in HD format, so if the MB won't be fast enough to handle those, it won't do me a lot of good. I'd like it to last me at least 4 to 5 years before I buy a new one. My biggest gripe with the MB is the GMA950 (screen size doesn't bother me as much as I will be using an external monitor at home). The HD format will require a whole lot more memory. Will 2Gb still be enough ? Or am I wrong in saying that trailers will no longer be available in "low definition" ? I don't need the HD-format but it could be I have no longer a choice in a couple of years. So questions, questions...

  • Cannot Burn Cd from iTunes

Lately, I have been unable to burn a cd, whether an Audio or MP3 cd. I will have a given playlist that correctly fits the available space. I press burn cd...and it says checking playlist, and will go so far as to say burn initialzied. then momentarily after, it will say cancelling-this may take a minute or two. it will then eject the cd and pop up an error message citing a 4 digit number that starts with a 4. in general i have been having trouble burning cds with itunes and other programs as well. can anybody help me, it will be appreciated. thanks!

Ok. I downloaded 7.1. and i had the same problem.
here is the new diagnostics i ran:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ZV6100 (EC373UA#ABA)
    iTunes 7.1.1.5
    CD Driver 2.0.6.1
    CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.2
    LowerFilters: PxHelp20 (2.0.0.0),
    UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1),
    Current user is an administrator.
    Video Display Information:
ATI MOBILITY RADEON Xpress 200 Series
    Connected Device Information:
DiskDrive, FUJITSU MHV2100AT PL, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
CDROM, MATSHITA UJ-840D, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
    D: MATSHITA UJ-840D, Rev 1.02
    Drive is empty.
The last failed audio CD burn had error code 4280(0x000010b8). It happened on drive D: MATSHITA UJ-840D on CDR media at speed 16X.
Also..my product says: HP Pavillion zv6000
Do you need my s/n and p/n.
I am beginning to think it might be the driver because no program seems to be any better. If this is the case, is this easily replaced, and is it expensive. Let me know if you need any other info. Again, I appreciate your help a great deal!!

  • Product: HP Pavillion dv5 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Problem: Smart Hard Disk Error

    Product: HP Pavillion dv5
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
    Problem: Smart Hard Disk Error
    Disk Name: WDC WD3200BEKT-60V5T1
How do I fix this error?

    Hi,
If you're starting to get Smart warnings, it's probably best to think about replacing the Hard Drive - at the very least, make sure you have a current back-up of all your personal files etc in case the drive fails suddenly.
If you'd like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive, please post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

  • Hp pavillion a6500f product#KQ495AA-ABA windows vista - home premium 64 bit Won't boot

Hi - I cannot boot my desktop hp pavillion.  error message says put in an installation disk - don't have.  and also says file 32/boot missing or corrupt.  tried recovery group of three disks but doesn't do a thing????  Don't want to loose data what is best route to take?  thanks

    Hi xbill,
What is the exact message you have?
So far I understand you have a corrupted windows vista with an error message mentioning a missing or corrupted somthing32 file.
Your data should not be impacted at the moment (based on what you wrote).
What you may want to do at the moment is get a windows vista home premium 64 as it may be used to recover the missing/corrupted file(s).
An external hard drive to backup your files and finally a bootable CD to allow you to start your machine to backup your files.
But the first thing we need before we go any further is the exact error message.

  • HP Pavillion G Series touchpad faulty. HP started helping then said product was out of warranty

My laptop (HP Pavilion g6-1343sa Notebook) doesn't work properly and hasn't done since the first day I used it. The cursor can be very erratic, flickering around the screen when I'm not even touching the touch pad. Sometimes when I am using the touch pad it will only move vertically up and down the screen, or it will start zooming in and out on the web page I am viewing as if I was pinching the touch pad and not simply trying to move the cursor around.
It didn't happen so much when the laptop was brand new and I didn't really use it very much to notice, but it's increasingly getting worse to the point where I can't use the laptop without disabling the touch pad and plugging in a mouse. I tried uninstalling the touchpad software and it seemed to be better for a while but I think that was just coincidence and the problem has come back worse then ever.
I tried to put up with it but it got the the last few days of my warranty and I realised I needed to do something or I would be stuck with a faulty laptop, so I contacted HP customer support. They advised me to carry out a factory reset of the laptop and see how that worked. I pointed out that my warranty was about to expire, and was assured that since I raised the support case during the warranty period, it would be honoured even if I reported back to them outside of the warranty period. I have this in writing from HP, yet when I reported back to the customer support adviser that the problem hadn't gone away I was immediately forwarded onto the complaints department who told me that they weren't prepared to help me because the product was now out of warranty/
I complained to them and they eventually said that if I had proof I had been told that they would help me even after the warranty expired, I could forward it to an email address they gave me. So I did this and they have ignored my email. I've sent various emails since this and they are still ignoring me. I emailed the original customer support adviser, and they have ignored me. And I sent an email to the MD of HP via the website, and so far this email has been ignored.
I've been sold faulty hardware, lied to, and ignored. I'm utterly disappointed with HP and thought I would share my experience with you. Is anyone from HP prepared to look into this for me, and fix/replace my laptop?

I have forwarded your post to the right people for their review. You should hear back from someone shortly via Private Message on this forum.

  • HP Pavillion A6500f- Product KQ495AA-ABA- BIOHD 3 error-DVD and HDD seen as SATA 3 & 4

BIOHD 3 error when diags are run.  Bios sees DVD/HDD as Sata 4/3.  DED/HDD plugged into Sata 2/1. Only 4 Sata ports but bios sees Sata 1-6.  If I plug DVD/HDD into Sata 4/3, then Bios sees them as Sata 6/5.  Cannot get Sata 1/2 to see any drives.  Replaced Cmos battery and tried clearing Cmos.  No help.  Suspect original Hdd is good but new hdd has same no boot problem.  Setup disk for hdd wont boot on DVD so new hdd cannot be set up.  Can select hdd or dvd in boot path but still will not boot to dvd or hdd.  Any ideas???
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sata 3/4 are correct.  Sata 1/2 are reserved for IDE devices.  A bad DVD drive caused the problem.  It apparently was hanging the bus and preventing the system from recognizing bootable devices.  A new SATA DVD allowed it to boot and thus reload the OS.
