My proxy server software won't allow Firefox to run. Why?

I have VPN4ALL proxy software for connecting to the internet. I use Google Chrome as a browser. I have an HP laptop computer. I have downloaded the Foxfire software. When I try to run the Foxfire browser, a window pops up and says that my proxy system won't allow it to run.
The VPN4ALL tech people said to start Firefox and go to Tools>Options>Network Tab>Settings>Auto Detect Proxy>OK> OK and try again.
I didn't find this string on Firefox's drop down window. Now what?

Have you tried uploading by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites?

  • Mac Proxy Server Software - can not find any app to run a Mac proxy server

    Hi! Looking for an application that will run and manage a proxy server on my Mac. I am after something that does not involve programming, editing and using the console, something that is done through a simple, user friendly interface. I would need to run a proxy server for web access so that the client using the proxy could be seen as using the authenticated IP of the server machine. (To put it simple, I need to be able to log on to a site where authentication is done via IP as well as login / pass. My home machine is set up for access but I would like to be able to log in on the move with my laptop or from other machines. Unfortunately I can not get a static IP for my laptop and would like to run a proxy server on my home machine so I can log in remotely via the proxy server) I am after a software solution that will install and manage the proxy and gives me full control over setting access limitaions etc (i.e something safe, easy and reliable). I have ben searching for days but have not found anything for the Mac although there appears to be an abundance of such software for Windows . . . Any help would be immensly appreciated! I have a spare older Mac I could set up for this purpose and keep online all the time . . .

    Would this do what you need?

  • OS X Server Software won't update to 2.2.1

    Hey everybody,
    since a few weeks we get a notification from the App Store on our Mac Mini Server, that there is an update available for the OS X Server (current version: 2.0.23).
    The OS X Server software was purchased with the Mac Mini (which is a Mid 2011) and runs without any problems.
    But as soon, as we want to update we get the message, that we don't have the "extended license" to update the software. Now that wouldn't be a big problem, if we would get the chance to actually BUY that extended license.
    Now we tried most common things you try if something like that happens:
    - restarted everthing
    - tried different Apple-IDs
    Do you guys have any clue, what we could try additionally to solve this "problem"?
    Thanks up front!
    Tim

    I have an original day 1 phone. I am attempting to update to 2.1 and after downloading the software, when I connect to iTunes I first get an message "waiting for iPhone" and then after about 1 minute it gives me this message " The iPhone cannot be used with iTunes because the information required for activation could not be obtained from the iPhone." I have checked that the SIM is inserted correctly and it is not PIN - locked.
    I have restarted the phone, computer and coffee pot.
    Any help would be appreciated...phone in emergency only mode.

  • Unable to open a new window you must first close exsisting firefox process or restart your system. There is no firefox process running why should I receive this error msg?

    I closed a Firefox process. Then clicked the FF icon to restart my browser. I received an error message. " Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window you must first close existing Firefox process, or restart your system. However there is no Firefox process running to begin with. I checked the task manager.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    It takes Firefox 5-15 seconds to completely close and for the OS to release the processes; it may take longer if you have a Flash animation/video running in one of the tabs. If not waiting long enough is not the problem, you can try the following to determine if an Extension or Plugin might be causing Firefox to hang at exit.
    <u>'''Kill Application'''</u>
    In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the <u>'''Processes'''</u> tab?
    See: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application Kill Application]
    '''<u>Causes and solutions for Firefox hanging at exit:</u>'''
    [[Firefox hangs]]
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Hang_at_exit Firefox hangs at exit]
    [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]
    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
    You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>'''before'''</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
    If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • Selenium-server-standalone won't start firefox - a bug?

    I am trying to figure out whether this is a packaging-bug or an upstream bug. Here is the symptom:
    When launching selenium-server-standalone in the shell using:
    $ java -jar /usr/share/selenium-server/selenium-server-standalone.jar -firefoxProfileTemplate /home/x/.mozilla/firefox/asdfas.selenium/ -log /home/x/selenium-sh.log
    And then launching a little test using test.pl:
    use strict;
    use warnings;
    use Time::HiRes qw(sleep);
    use Test::WWW::Selenium;
    use Test::More "no_plan";
    use Test::Exception;
    my $sel = Test::WWW::Selenium->new( host => "localhost",
    port => 4444,
    browser => "*chrome",
    browser_url => "http://www.google.com" );
    $sel->open_ok("http://www.google.com");
    WAIT: {
    for (1..60) {
    if (eval { $sel->is_element_present("heythere") }) { pass; last WAIT }
    sleep(1);
    fail("timeout");
    then firefox gets started and everyone is happy. However, when I start selenium server as a daemon, firefox simply won't start up and I don't know why. Here is the scenario:
    # rc.d start selenium-server
    My /etc/conf.d/selenium-server.conf:
    SELENIUM_SERVER_USER=x
    SELENIUM_SERVER_ARGS="-firefoxProfileTemplate /home/x/.mozilla/firefox/ennhqwww.selenium -log /home/x/selenium-rc.log"
    Now launching the above perl script:
    $ perl test.pl
    Nothing happens, it just keeps idling at "starting firefox..."
    Here is the logfile selenium-rc.log:

    Anyone got an idea why firefox won't start if selenium is started via the rc.d script, or can someone at least help me find a way to troubleshoot why this is happening (i.e. logs, strace, etc.)?
    I am pretty sure it is not an upstream issue, but if you tell me it is, then I will have to file a bug there.
    Thanks!

    Under which user does the daemon run? If it is the same user under which you are able to manually start the test, it is most likely a environment problem. Otherwise it is probably permission related.
    To fix a environment problem, try copying all `set` variables to the daemon's environment. For permission related, try `sudo -u daemonuser java -jar /usr/s...` and then debugging that.

  • How do i deinstall ios7 and go back to ios6 on my ipad?  The new op system is slow, flickery, and won't allow me to run youtube videos.   Makes my ipad pretty darn useless.

    How do i deinstall ios7 on my ipad?  The new op system won't let me run Youtube, won't give me accesss to one of my gmail accounts, flickers when i do searches, and pretty much made my favorite device pretty much useless.  Please don't tell me that apple is deliberately trying to get me to upgrade my old device just to generate revenue.  That's why i switched from Microsoft products four years ago.  Is it time to go Andriod?

    Apple does not support ios downgrades. The same question was asked hundereds of times when ios 6 and every other new version came out.
    Try this
    Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
    If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
    (no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
    If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.
    Make sure iTunes is updated to the latest version

  • Laptop-Vista-Moz Fifx won't work-says something about proxy server? Computer Challenged so I don't understand.

    I am computer challenged so I don't understand this. When I try to download Mozilla Firefox on my laptop it tells me that firefox uses a proxy server and won't complete the download. I don't like IE, and do like Mozilla Firefox and have used it for a long time on my desk top. If someone could tell me what to do to make it work I really would appreciate this.

    Are you trying to do this while on a corporate wifi or over home wifi/cellular?

  • I don't use a proxy server to connect to the internet, but Firefox automatically configures itself to use the loopback address.

    I have a direct connection to the internet and don't use a proxy server. Every few weeks, Firefox automatically resets itself to be configured to use a proxy server at the loopback address (127.0.0.1). Manually changing it back to "No proxy" works, but I have to do so each time I open the browser or even a new tab. The only fix I can find is to create a new profile which gives me a new, clean install of FF, but then I lose all my add-ons. This has happened repeatedly now and it's extremely frustrating. I have scanned for malware but have not found any problems.

    hello rjlasser, first of all please make sure that none of your extensions is causing the issue (some youtube censorship circumvention addons also make use of proxies for example).
    otherwise please refer to [[How to fix preferences that won't save]] for some common solutions.

  • The proxy server is refusing connections on a user name on my desktop. How do I repair that?

    Hello,
    My computer has 2 users on here. Under my username when I try to go on the internet I get a pop up that say "The proxy server is refusing connections. Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connection." I have tried going into my control panel under internet options and changing my LAN setting to automatic and that did not work. I also tried to place where is searches for the proxy and I am unable to connect on y user. I can switch users and go under my daughters and then I am able to connecto to the internet.

    If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
    Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • Proxy Server 3.6 StdIn Error

    I have seen a similiar post previously, but not a response.
    Several errors with the Sun/1 Proxy Server 3.6 sp 1 proxy on Solaris 8 with reverse-proxy URL's configured:
    1. Attempting to turn on access control from the Restrict Access page on Server properties results in the message "System Error: Cannot read POST variables from stdin"
    2. Attempting to access a web server via the reverse proxy results in a web response "You are not authorized to view this page" HTTP 403 error in the browser. The proxy error log includes an entry reading "security: for host xxx trying to GET /: deny-service reports: denying service of /"
    3. Connection attempts to the internal web server are not attempted from the proxy server, indicating the authentication error is local with the proxy server configuration itself.
    3. If the Admin Server is configured to use an LDAP database the virtual server will not start - the server process continues to clock, forks aproximately 10-12 processes with the server start script, each of which must be manually killed (the stop script has no effect).
    The proxy server software has been removed/reloaded to eliminate the potential of corruption in the installation directory to no avail.
    Thoughts/Assistance?

    Excuse the delay in replying (too much tryptophan ;)
    Thanks for the feedback on the post errors - without understanding the specific requirements of the browser (other than Netscape as the required interface) the problem was resolved by using an alternative client. Strange that Netscape 7 (causing the POST error) did initially function properly.
    The ldap bind, authentication, etc. against the desired ldap database were verified through command line ldap calls from the host os (Solaris). In production, the challenge was the desired attribute for authentication is not UID but CN. Unfortunately the Proxy server does not provide an interface to modify the ldap query and the UID is hardcoded. Compounding the issue is the fact that the authentication libraries used by the Proxy server are internal to the software, and cannot be redirected to other libraries (such as PAM).
    Options such as custom development, etc. were explored but eliminated due to cost and potential complexity. Other Proxy alternatives are being explored based on the authentication issue....
    Hope this helps

    My web proider is Verizon Fios. I've contacted Verizon 4 times about this. I was instructed to delete Firefox and then download again. It didn't help. I'm able to get to your main window. Then, when I try to go to any website, the following window comes up: "The proxy server is refusing connections. Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections. It tells me to "Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct." I tried that w/ my Verizon support person but how is one to know what "settings" are "correct"? Finally the window instructs: "Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working." Who would my "network administrator" be? It wasn't Verizon as they told me they don't support Mozilla.
