i have a 5th gen ipod.its about 3 years old.i had no problems with it until recently.while playing music or podcast the i have noticed that weird whirring noises come from the ipod.the music or podcast plays but the buttons dont work.like if i try to pause or go back to the menu.also the battery drains out.while playing a video it freezes.
i have restored it several times.still the problem persists.
restarting the ipod doesnt solve the problem as it freezes again.
even removing the files that freeze doesnt solve the problem.please help

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset

  • MSI P35 Neo-F (MS-7360): Computer randomly freezes while playing games

    Hi there,
I have reached the end of my technical knowledge right now and I'm not even sure if this area of the forum is appropriate. The problem:
While playing higher-end games like Crysis 2, Anno 1404, Mass Effect 2 etc. my computer randomly freezes and the last few milliseconds of sound are being looped on my speakers (kind of like a buzzing sound).
By "freezing" I mean that my computer becomes unresponsive to any action other than pressing the Reset-Button or holding down the Power-Up-Button (no reaction to Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+F4, Alt+Tab, no mouse movement... you get it).
There's no exact timing as to when these freezes occur. The fastest freeze happened after less than a minute of playing a game, slowes one (just today after switching to my newer case with better cooling) took about 2 hours.
This freeze only occurs while my System is under load. No freezes while browsing the web, using office programs, listening to music or watching videos.
    System Specs:
        Mainboard: MSI P35 Neo-F (MSI-7360)
        CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz
        RAM: 4x 1GB DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2
Graphics: Gainward GeForce GTX 560 Ti, 1GB GDDR5 VRAM
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620W (upgraded from Xilence XP600, 600W)
New CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 13 Pro (upgraded from OEM Intel Boxed Cooler)
New Case: Zalman Z9 Plus w/ 4x 120 mm Fans (Upgraded from a Case with only 1x 250mm side Fan)
        2 Western Digital HDD (1x 2TB, 1x320 GB)
1 DVD Reader/Burner (unimportant for that error I guess)
        OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
        2 Screens: 1x 24" Asus VS248H and 1x 21" LG Flatron Wide W2240T
Since this error is bugging me for quite a while now and since this is not the first forum I'm trying to get help from, here's a list of steps i already took to get rid of it, obviously to no good use:
reinstalled games where the freeze occurred
updated all Drivers (including cleaning old versions in safe mode; also tried older drivers)
        updated BIOS to v1.A0
        Reinstalled Windows
bought new Case and CPU Cooler to improve Air Flow/Cooling
checked Seating of all components (took out, cleaned, reapplied thermal grease where neccessary, re-inserted)
cleaned old case of dust (obviously no problem in the new case, which is 2 days "old")
ran 7 sequences of Memtes86+ without any errors
ran Prime95 without any errors for about 45 Minutes
ran Furmark for 15 Minutes under full load (burn-in test) without any problems, even though my graphics card hit the 100°C frequency-cut level
ran Furmark and Prime95 simultaneously without any problems
took records of component temperatures and system voltages without noticing anything unusual (at least not after i switched to the newer PSU, which is about 1 Month old - yet didn't resolve the problem)
tested with cyclic removal of 1 RAM device to further rule out RAM malfunction
tested with only 2 RAM devices in dual channel mode (Slots 1 and 3)
tried to reduce RAM clock (800 MHz --> 667 MHz) to no avail
checked S.M.A.R.T. values of HDDs, no issues reported
        tested without any background programs
raised/lowered voltages to RAM, CPU and Chipset in BIOS to increase logic circuit stability/decrease heat production
I need to mention: After I transferred my system to the new case, i was able to play longer than average compared to my old case. So I am guessing that improper cooling was part of the problem, yet improving cooling obviously didn't resolve it.
Since these freezes are really annoying and nobody could help me resolve this so far, I'm hoping to find some new ways of narrowing down the problem or even getting rid of it here.
    Regards
    Sebb

Lets be realistic. A system with a 560TI is recommended to have a around 31Amps under full load, a CX500 would be sufficient.
Have you monitored your CPU and memory utilisation ?
As suggested before, test the GPU in another computer to see if the behaviour is the same.
Whew, I thought for a second there that my common sense had left me when I saw that 60-Amp-Post ^^
Yes, I monitored CPU and RAM usage, there is no recognizeable pattern to be seen and it almost never happens under full load.
I will see if a friend of mine can test my GPU on his computer, and I will test it underclocked right away.
Though one more question regarding that: Should I only underclock GPU Core Clock or both Core and RAM clock?

  • GE620DX gets really hot while playing high end games

Hi, i just got a notebook GE620DX it works great and performance is really worth it.
However, my only problem is that it gets really hot while playing high end games.
It feels so hot that it is like burning your hand if you put it just right the exhaust vent.
Is this normal with any gaming laptop or there is problem?
    Thanks Very Much!

Laptop computers naturally run hot (or at least very warm), and if they stay hot for prolonged periods of time they may overheat and cause serious damage. Whether or not you're experiencing the warning signs and dangers of your laptop overheating, the simple and inexpensive protective measures below will help keep your laptop cooler and make it work more reliably.
5 easy tips to cool a hot laptop
    1. Adjust your power settings from "high performance" to a more "balanced" or "power saver" plan. This will tell the system to only use the power required to run your applications, rather than always using the maximum processor speed; if you need to play games or other intensive work, you can switch back to the high performance plan as necessary.
    2. Use dust remover spray to clean out of the laptop's vents. Dust can accumulate in and block the laptop's fan vents -- a problem easily solved with a can of compressed gas (~$10). Turn off your laptop and spray the vent to remove the dust.
    3. Use a laptop cooling pad that has a fan or two. Laptop pads that have vents but no fans can also increase the air flow around your laptop and they're very portable, but for stronger cooling needs, a fan is the best way to go. For this test, I used a Belkin F5L055 (under $30), but there are also several others selected by this site's previous guide that you can explore or you could even custom build a laptop cooling system if you're so inclined.
    4. Keep your working environment or computer room as comfortably cool as possible. Computers, like most people, work much better in air conditioned environments. Most server rooms or data centers operate at 70 degrees or below, according to Server Fault, and that seems like an ideal temperature recommendation for home offices as well.
    5. Shut down your computer when not in use, and especially when you are not at home. The last thing you need when you get home is to find out your laptop was a fire hazard (one of the dangers of overheating laptops).
Taking the steps above brought down the internal temperature of an old and dangerously hot laptop from 181° Fahrenheit (83° Celsius) to 106° F (41° C) -- a difference of 41% after one hour of using the active laptop cooling pad and bringing the room temperature down to 68 degrees.

  • Lock screen while playing music and charging

I thought recently Apple had made a change so that the lockscreen would show your album art while playing music AND charging at the same time. Right now I'm playing music and charging, but the lock screen shows the battery charging. Is this a change or am I mis-remembering?

That is strange. I do not get album art when the phone is locked and an album is playing. All my albums have album art too. I will reboot and try again, maybe it's a bug in iOS4.1?
FIXED !!! -- I just rebooted my iPhone and now it works. Strange.

  • Toshiba Satellite C655 SP4168M freezes while playing a game

So i've been having problems with mi laptop very recently with a game i'm playing (League of legends), the game normally works perfectly, but at random times it just completely freezes (making an awkward sttutering sound) and i have to forcefully shutdown and restart the PC. It doesnt happen ALL the time, but when it happens it's really annoying, and i can either happen once every week, or several times daily. I already repaired the video driver but that didnt help, i was thinking about updating the BIOS; but cant find the correct version for my laptop, and i cant even be sure that's actually the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try using a program like "Piriform Speccy" (free version), and monitor the CPU temps as you are using the system.  If it gets up into the orange and red while watching videos, you may need to apply fresh thermal paste to the CPU.
My old L355 is starting to freeze while watching youtube videos the other day, and just confirmed that the CPU is overheating.  Will be tearing it apart hopefully tonight to be cleaned up and have a fresh application of arctic silver on the CPU.

  • MSI s939 k8n neo4-F Freezes while playing games

    I got the following system:
    MSI S939 K8N NEO4-F
    AMD Athlon 64 S939 3200+
    Twinmos DDRAM 3x 512 MB PC3200 400MHz
    Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM SATA (8MB CACHE)
    XFX GeForce 6600-GT 256MB PCI-X
when i'm trying to play the system sometimes just freezes can't do anything accept pressing the reset button. Mostly I get it while playing games (mostly Battlefield 2, UT2004, Day of defaet source) While playing or sometimes just in the menu of the game my screen freezes and i hear a last sound. i've runned a memtest before, so my memory isn't the problem, i also tried several drivers on my system (nforce drivers and nvidea drivers for the graphic card). All the temperatures are good to (between 25 and 40°C). Anyone else has this problem ? or did anyone else had this and solved it ?

about those timings how can i change them, i mean what program do i have to use ?
You have to go into BIOs to change your settings, look at your MB manual in the BIO sections for more info.
But according to CPUZ your timings are already set correctly so I would not worry about that right now.
Check the ram makers site for the timings of your ram to make sure that you are within thier specs.

the dual channel kit is now in slot 1 and 2 (the purple ones) but it still froze after 10minutes
Dual channel is 1 stick of ram in the purple slot and one in the green slot, make sure to use slot 1 & 2 as using 2&3 can cause problems. Slot 1 is the one closest to the CPU.

  • Firefox Freeze while playing online games

    I have a gaming PC running Win8 pro 64bit
    8GB of RAM
    3.20 Ghz AMD Phenom 2 x6 1055T processor
ATI Radeeon HD 5670 graphic card.
    Problem 1.
When I watch a video on a website or play an online game both using Flash, my mouse will drag. This only happens when I watch a video or play a game in Firefox 21.0. If I use different web browsers then I do not have this problem.
I reinstalled Flash but that didn't help me any.
    Problem 2.
Under "Settings for Clearing History" all are checked but I cannot check "Download History".
I want Firefox to automatically clean the Download History when I exit Firefox but it will not do this.
It used to work fine until I updated my Firefox browser.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • While playing Zoo and Farm Town on Facebood Firefox always asks me to log on it is always timing out Why??????????????????????? Very Frustrating

While on Facebook... Firefox stops working and asks me to log on again very frustrating I go on Chrome and it does the same thing but when I use my husband email chrome stays connected this is really cazy.....
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== since I have been using Firefox

    Hi Barbara!
I'm not 100% sure I understand your problem, so please post further information so I can help you better. But I'll give it a shot.
You have a PC (with Windows Vista?) with both the Mozilla Firefox (3.6.3?) and Google Chrome browsers installed, and when you play those games on Facebook, they freeze up, times out and you have to log in again, right?
Or do the browser shut down and maybe even restart, thus making you have to log in again?
As much and as precise info you can provide will make it easier to understand the problem you have, and help me help you solve it. :)
It can be a problem with the applications running those games on Facebook - most likely Adobe Flash, but could also be Sun Java or maybe even Apple Quicktime.
We have some articles providing help with these:
For information and testing your Flash installation, we have the support article [[Managing the Flash plugin]].
For testing that Javascript is working correctly, you can find test links and info in this article: [[Using the Java plugin with Firefox]].
For information, test and fixing of QuickTime see [[Using the QuickTime plugin with Firefox]].
Service information: You can always test your plugins via the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Mozilla Plugin Check page] to stay on the safe side. But use the 3 above articles to test each component.
If the problem happens in both browsers, it is likely that it is caused by another program running on your computer - it could be a security program interfering with the browsers, or some kind of malware.
This article may help you with the latter: [[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware]]; for security programs we have separate KB articles for each provider (AVG, Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, F.Secure, Trend Micro, Comodo), search on the name of yours in the yellow "Search Firefox Help" box on the right side of this page.
Please let us know how above works out, and if we can be of further assistance. Detailed feedback is appreciated and helps us to help more users with similar problems.

  • Why is my laptop making a "glitching" noise while playing music and videos.

    Hi,
It's hard to explain, but it's just an interrupted noise that happens randomly throughout audio and media. Just started happening out of nowhere.
Recently I've been having some problems playing back any sort of media.  At regular intervals the audio will freeze/skip for a second and make a loud grinding noise.  This happens with music, streaming videos, games, pretty much everything.  If I'm watching a video or playing a game, the screen will freeze for a second, then remain normal for fewer second and does the same again. This happens every 15 or 20seconds while Playing any kind of media.
I've tried everything I could think of, updating all my drivers, reinstalling windows, running anit-virus, and cleaning out my system. But nothing helped at all. I wonder what the problem is?
Though if i reboot  the problem is gone for that particular period. But it comes back again later.
Please help me with any kind of solution.

    Hi @mahabulislam ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This would help if something is causing an issue with defaults.
I have found this to be a help with this issue on all Notebooks.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom to say “Thanks” for helping!

  • New MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6) Freezes while playing Portal, WOW, etc,

I have the new macbook pro that came out February 2011 with Mac OS-X 10.6, and I have encountered multiple problems with the computer running sluggish and freezing up in some applications. For example while playing Portal, the computer will get extremely hot and everything will freeze while the fan slows down, then it will come back, and about 5 minutes later it does it again. Same thing happens with WOW and I'm sure with many other applications. Even will run slow while watching tv on Netflix. It's ridiculous and unacceptable. Is there a news release with a factory defect or an update available to fix this overheating problem? Thanks

Is there a news release with a factory defect
Not that I am aware of. Check Google or call Apple Care as you are still under warranty.
or an update available to fix this overheating problem?
User Tip: How to deal with MacBook Pro and MacBook heat?
Per your user manual: Do not operate your MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material, as the material can block the airflow vents. Never place anything over the keyboard when operating your MacBook Pro. Never push objects into the ventilation openings.
From MacBook Pro: Care, Use, and Safety Information
For prolonged use, place your MacBook Pro on a flat, stable surface. Do not place your MacBook Pro on your lap or other body surface for extended periods of time. Prolonged body contact can cause discomfort and potentially a burn.
    with Mac OS-X 10.6
Use Software Update to update your os to 10.6.7 or you can go to Apple's download website to install the combo update. Also, update everything that is listed in Software Update that pertains to your computer.
Check WOW's website for updates or contact their customer service department and forums.

  • Zen Micro Freezing While Play

My Zen Micro is my second MP3 player. My first one was a 2.5 GB Rio Nitrus. It was everything I needed it to be until it started acting funny. It froze up a few times while playing. Then I went on vacation and a week later when I got back and tried to use it, it froze again only this time it wouldn't restart correctly. I'm worried that I might be coming into a similar problem with my Zen Micro. It has never frozen until today. I hadn't used it in a week, similar to what happened when my Nitrus went on me. It paused for about 20 seconds when I was running on the treadmill, and then later, it completely froze. The only thing I could do to reset it was take the battery out of the back. It appears to be fine now but it has me worried. Is there anyone who owns a Zen and experienced similar problems and should this be something I worry about? It especially ticked me off today because I just spent $20 last night for a new holster and belt clip for it. Anyone have any input?Message Edited by diesel6304 on 0-06-2006 08:29 PM

It might be because you were running on the treadmill and you experienced "head crash", where the heads reading the HDD inside your Micro hit the HDD itself. Best to not do that. I use it on the treadmill, but I only powerwalk on the treadmill......
Oh yeah, in addition, it's normal every now and then for it to freeze (okay, not normal normal, but unless it's doing it regularly, it's not really that much to worry about). I would suggest running a disc cleanup from the recovery mode.Message Edited by RMskater on 0-06-2006 0:53 PM
