My PS3 wont connect to my airport

Trying to connect my PS3 to my airport but it keeps telling me that the connection fails. What am I doing wrong????

Hi - you might be getting full bars but a slow connection - games can be very sensitive to this - have you tried connecting via ethernet to see if it is better? - however if your wireless speed is good too then it could be a ps3 issue and a call to their support might help - otherwise there could be interference issues, radio channel conflicts, etc. - without knowing the specific aspects of your entire network environment it is hard to make any more suggestions.

    Greetings sletzel,
It seems you are unable to connect your Apple TV to a wireless network. I've located an article that may help. It contains troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:

  • Airport extreme: my macbook, cannon wireless printer, ipad and iphone cannot connect to internet when Apple Tv and/or PS3 is connected

Please help!  I have an Airport Extreme (model A1143) as my router, and I have several devices connected to it wirelessly and wired.  I have my Macbook, Macbook Pro, iPad 1, iPhone 4S, HTC Thunderbolt, Cannon wireless printer, and Apple TV (gen 1) connected wirelessly.  I have my PS3, an external hard drive and DirecTV connected via ethernet cable (but sometimes my PS3 is also connected wirelessly).
I began to notice a few months back that my wireless printer had connection errors and could not print.  And I noticed soon after that, from time to time, the internet connection on my Macbook and iPad was extremely slow, to the point that I could not surf the web.  I tried several different printers before realizing that this problem was happening only when I had my PS3 turned on.  I tried both PS3 wirelessly and wired, but the problem persisted.  I figured it was a problem with the PS3, so I just made sure that PS3 is off when I need to use the wireless in the house.  But I recently bought an ATV (gen 1) and also noticed the same problem when it was connected to the Airport Extreme (wirelessly) - i.e., Ican't print, and my internet is super super slow on macbook, ipad, etc.
So, it must be that my Airport Extreme is the problem, not the PS3 or the ATV.  Is there anything I can do to fix this (i.e., some setting that has to be changed)?  Or do you think that my Extreme is just dying out on me and it's time for a replacement (I bought it about 5 years ago)?

This problem, for reasons unknown to me, has resolved itself on its own. After several attempts finally everything decided to work. How does stuff like this happen? Thank you.

  • I just got a new macbook, and airport wont connect to my internet.

when i try to connect to my wireless internet, i put in the correct password, and my macbook says "connecting to network", but right after it says "network time out". i have tried taking off the password and it still does not connect. i have tried plugging in the ethernet cord and that seems to work, but it wont connect through airport.
    can someone please help.

    Omar 182 and Freeky Geek,
I hate to ask you to give more money to apple but I suggest you try an Airport Express.
I bought one today, brought it home, disabled my DSL modem's wireless, plugged in the Airport Express and connected an Enet cable from the DSL modem to APE.
Using the Airport Utility I downloaded the latest APE SW version; configured my wireless network with WPA2 security and had my MacBook AND Lenovo T60 working off the Internet in no time (OK, less than an hour).
In the past 5-6 years I have bought and configured 3 (or 4?) Linksys wireless routers and it has never been this straight forward.
If you can spare the $100(US) I recommend it,
    Carson

  • Airport wont connect on my home network when its password protected but..

Airport wont connect to my home network when its password protected. It will connect to my network if i go into my linksys router and set the network to "not password protected". If i put on the security and choose a pass phrase it always says connection failed when i try to connect to the network. anyone got any suggestions on what to try ?
ps and yes i am putting in the password right

    Hi Nickerjones
When you enter your password for the Linksys router, is it generating a separate code phrase? By this, I mean if you enter "password", the Linksys converts this to a code that might look something like "ju457re76en7pq" for example. The code is generated based on an algorithm that Linksys uses for their products and should be visible in the set up page. Sorry, I haven't used Linksys for several years so I can't remember all the details.
Other manufacturers use different algorithms for their products, so if you entered "password" on an Apple product, it would likely convert the phrase to a different code, which the Linksys would not recognize. If you can locate the actual code that the Linksys generates when you enter your password and use that same exact code when you enter the password for your wireless on Airport, you may have your problem solved.

  • Airport extreme wont connect

i reinstalled my OS on the laptop [windows xp]
btw all was woking fine prior to the OS reinstall
the internal wireless sees the networks, but it wont connect.
running diagnostics all passes up to the association tests, that fails.
Dell run thru a series of downloads, etc trying to find the problem, but no luck.
i casn use dell pay service to try to solve the problem, but thats my last resort, because i dont know if it a software, apple, or cable issue.
    any suggestions?

Hello NYGramps. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I assume that your Dell laptop can access the Internet when connected directly to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) by Ethernet ... correct?
If so, can the laptop "see" and access other wireless network and just not the one provided by your AEBSn?

  • Airport, WPA2 and Titanium PowerBook wont connect

I have a friend who visits my place occasionally with a Titanium PowerBook. I have an airport network running WPA2 encryption, but the Titanium PowerBook wont connect to my network.
If I downgrade my network to WPA it will connect fine. This is despite the fact that I have set the airport to allow connections with either WPA or WPA2.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should do?
    Thanks
    Charlie

But you need to make sure your friend has the latest AirPort 4.2 update on the Titanium to get WPA support."
I replied to the wrong person, but...
The statement above is not true... WPA Support is available in AirPort 3.2/3.3 and later (depending on whether you have an Extreme or non-Extreme card respectively according to a quick Internet search). WPA2 Support requires AirPort 4.2. If you set the base station to support both WPA and WPA2 then any wireless client that supports WPA or WPA2 should be able to access the network. Your mileage may vary.

  • Upgraded ibook g3 from 10.2.8 to 10.4.11 now airport wont connect

I was previously running 10.2.8 on my 800mhz ibook g3, i purchased tiger off of ebay and installed it. Now my ibook wont connect to my wifi at home i type the password and it says airport could not connect to this network. (and it previously did with 10.2.8). I have the orig. airport card firmware 9.52. Please let me know if there is some type of update.

Have you tried turning AirPort off and then turning it back on again?
What kind of network setup do you have? DSL or cable modem? Router?

  • Airport extreme wont connect to computer it was setup on

I setup the base station on my girlfriends computer, IBM thinkpad t42, with a WPA/WPA2 personal password. I can connect to the router through my computer using a wireless card but she cannot. It constantly says aquiring network address but never connects. the airport utility doesnt recognize the router on her computer either after the password is entered. she can connect to it when the router has no password attached. what can I do?

What do you mean "wont connect"?

  • Airport extreme wont connect to my d-link DI-624 router--WHY!?!?

OK-- i have a d-link DI-624 wireless router hooked up to my ethernet router on my imac g4/ 800mhz gooseneck. i have a mac book pro with airport extreme-- when i set up a closed network with WEP i could log in the password, get a strong signal and connect via the airport card but when i tried to open safari, it said i wasn't connected to the internet. when i made it an open network, no problem. why can i join the closed network, get a signal, but not connect to the internet.
i tried the network setup assistant but no luck. any ideas? i am new to wireless routers so any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to solve would be greatly appreciated!

...when i set up a closed
    network...
Don't do that. Disabling the broadcast of the SSID
(network name) may make you feel secure but it is a
false sense of security. The network name is still
    broadcast and easily detected.
Why do you have 2 routers? Why not replace your
"ethernet router" with the DI-624? It will support
    both Ethernet and wireless clients.
So are you saying I should just leave the network open? I don't mind sharing my wi-fi connection but I want my computers to be secure. I set it up to have WEP so I could share with friends. I still don't understand why my airport card in my macbook pro will pick up the open network but not the closed (even though i can log the WEP and it shows maximum signal strength).
Will the settings on OS X Tiger's firewall be the most effective or do i need to configure the wireless router's firewall as well?
I am a newbie to wireless routers and to answer your question about two routers, I was following what the directions from the DI-624 manual said to do. What you are saying makes total sense in that respect.

  • Airport Extreme wont connect to the internet

I recently had to shut down my AE Base station. When I went to reconnect, I was no longer connected to the internet. I have tried everything I can think of from shutting the whole thing down, to full factory reset, but for some reason it will not work. I can see and connect to the airport itself, the Cable internet works (I am connected by the ethernet cable to write this), but I cannot connect through the AE. Also, I can connect to the airport through the Airport Utility, but the Airport Setup Assistant tells me I do not have the correct hardware installed??? Can anyone give me some steps to follow that might help me to work through the problem?
I have a cable modem connected to Virgin Media (which is definitely working)
The Cable modem is connected via cable to the WAN port as it has always been.
nothing else is connected to the set up, although before reset I also had an Airport express connected as a slave, elsewhere in the house. I have tried to use this directly instead of the Airport Extreme but with no luck.....
    Finally, I have no firewalls
    Many thanks for any help

    Welcome to the discussions!
If you haven't already done so, try a full modem reset as follows:
Push the reset button on the modem and then power the modem down
Pull the battery from the modem if it is easily accessible
Power down the rest of your network....all devices
    Wait 30 minutes
Make sure that the modem is connected to the WAN (circle of dots) port on the AirPort Extreme
Power up the modem first and let it run 4-5 minutes by itself
Then power up the AirPort Extreme the same way
Power up each of your other devices one at a time, waiting a few minutes before you start the next device.
    Please post on your results.
