My purchased songs aren't playing anymore. why?

I need help. i bought 4 songs, and they had all been playing just fine until yesterday. the songs i transfered from my cds work just fine, but the iPod mini just skips the purchased songs. what do i do?

Kait, sometimes an easy fix for this is to de-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then to re-authorize it. You do this by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, then the computer will be authorized again. Sync you iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes (4.9).

I upgraded my Mac to Tiger, and in doing so I needed to free up songs on my hard drive, so i moved my library to a new external hard drive. I was able to reload all of my library back on to itunes with a few exceptions--Those exceptions were songs I purchased from apple. I have about 40 songs including three full albums. The message I get when I try to play them is that I need to authorize them to play on a new computer. I put my password and user name in and it gives me the message that it has authorized two computers to play the song, but when I try to play it, it won't play and the authorization window comes up again. Please help.

I figured out the problem. I needed a password for an older email account. everything is working fine now.

Depending upon what country that you are in have you tried deleting and redownloading it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes ? If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

After installing the latest ipod update some of my purchased songs no longer play

After installing the latest ipod update some of my purchased songs no longer play (though they still play on the computer). When I tested it on another computer it claimed that computer was not authroied to play these songs even though I was just playing them directly off the ipod. Even more strange is that I alos have a number of songs loaded on my itunes from albums I loaded and I am fairly sure these songs were ones I recorded rather than purchased but now they appear on my purchased list.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

You are in that awful authorization loop.
Here are some steps to try.
1. Deauthorize, then reauthorize your PC - it might be using multiple authorizations and this article shows you how to fix that.

And make sure you authorize for all iTS accounts, even that old one from 3 years ago you may have forgotten about.
2. Delete the SC Info folder. The entire folder, not just the file. It will get rebuilt the next time you start iTunes. Don't forget to restart your PC, as the article says.

3. Get a free single of the week, which has the latest DRM on it, and play a few seconds of it. Sometimes the latest song of the week fixes everything.

Drivers? You need a program to run them such as K-Jams. Then you will need to check your connections from the laptop to the monitor and make sure your settings are correct in System Preferences.

PC crashed, after reinstalling everything my purchases songs will not play. I have the files but they say they are not authorized to be played on this pc. It is the same pc but i have had to reinstall windows and itunes. Please help me, how can i play my purchased songs?

How did you do this? I got the same message - some items not copied because I'm not authorized - minus the PC crashing.

Not sure if it's only been with this past update but it has been recently. I can't play a good amount of my songs. Examples include The Remedy by Jason Mraz and most songs in the Scars & Stories album by The Fray (At least not the first one in the album). Is anyone else having this problem? I've deleted the Storage folder with all the cache and restarted Spotify. Should my next move be reinstalling it?

Well I don't know what to say. After more than a week of trying to find out why iTunes wouldn't play songs and why my system audio was not operating, today I open iTunes and not only are the songs playing as normal but the system audio is operating as well. The warning that my IEEE 1394 Controller could not start has also disappeared.
I didn't do anything other than look around, but for some reason it works now. Case closed I guess!

Cloud storage / Purchased songs won't play

Previously when I bought albums and songs wouldn't play, I deleted then re-dl'ed from the cloud but that option is not available anymore. What do I with songs that won't play? And do we now have to pay for cloud storage?

You can redownload songs (depending upon what country that you are in) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage :
If the songs don't have the cloud symbol next to them then how did you delete them ? If they tracks are still listed in the Music part of your iTunes library (e.g. you just deleted the actual music files from your computer, not from your iTunes library) then delete them from there and they should then get the cloud symbol against them in Purchased (click on the cloud to download them).

By your question, I am wondering if you are playing your music from the iTunes app rather than the Music app?
In the Music App, you can go to any of the options at the bottom and click on a song to play and it will then continue to play the songs in that category. You can also select "Shuffle" to shuffle them.
As for your Photos, did you have them backed up anywhere?

Purchased songs no longer playing on shuffle

I have continued to try and solve my suffle problems and every now and then, I am able to narrow my issue down further. My shuffle played fine until the end of October and I am still trying to get it to play!
The last thing I have noticed is that it no longer plays music that I have purchase from iTunes but it will play the music from my cds.I searched for this issue but had no luck. The only thing that I can think of that changed was when I downloaded new versions of iTunes and the latest iPod updater. I have tried to restore with older versions of iPod software but this does not fix the problem.
Any suggestions?

I am not sure if the problem is related to the Sony and BMG problem.
If the songs used to play on your iPod and then stopped - I would try restoring your iPod and then reloading a variety of music. If you still find that the music loaded from your cds play but your music that was purchased from iTunes does not play then I would take your iPod into an Apple store. I found after 2 months that I could not resolve the problem and that my iPod had to be replaced.
