My Purchases, Different Computers

I recently downoaded a bunch of music onto a home computer, but I use a different comp at school, and I did not burn the songs onto a CD- is there a way to get the purchased songs on my current mac? Would this be encompassed within the five computer authorization rule? Or would I have to re-buy the songs to dowlaod them again?

Burn your purchased music either to a DATA CD or use any kind of external storage (harddisk, USB dongle ....)

  • HT4759 how do I sync my iTunes purchases made through the same Apple ID but on different computers?

I want to sync all my iTunes music and video so I can play it on the laptop I am currently using. How do I sync them? I have made iTunes purchases from the same account using 4 different computers (2 macs and 2 pcs

Setup then Use Home Share feature on both PCs just like you would for music
After setting up home share on both computers, on one computer (say "A) ...from the pull down menu on the upper left of iTunes, select the Library/Apps from the other computer("B").
Next, at the bottom left, from the pull down menu select "Items not in my library"
Next select (highlite) all of those items not in your "A" library, then choose import from the bottom right of iTunes.
When done importing on the first computer (import B to =>A)...go to the second computer ("B") and import from "A" to=> "B"
Now you can sync your iPhone or iPad on the computer you normally use and all apps will sync.

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
Type "move itunes library from pc to mac" or similar into the google search bar.

  • Family sharing music who work on different computers

    hi everyone,
here is the question, which will start with a long explaination.
my desktop computer is the "main" computer of the house. i have about 35,000 songs on it in my itunes. everyone in the house (wife & son) uses my music (which is everyone's music) for their entertainment. when we buy music (either online or the physical cd) it's downloaded on my computer and into my itunes. my wife has a few songs on her itunes on her computer and my son is going to get an ipod touch and will start purchasing songs for that on a separate computer. so, we will have 3 computers that will potentially be purchasing different music. in addition to the 3 computers, i am relocating to a different city for work and will be commuting back and forth when i can. my question for the community is, how can we all share our music? since my son hasn't gotten his ipod touch yet and my wife doesn't have anything on her itunes yet (all of her music is on my computer and in my itunes), would it make sense for everyone to share my ID and password and then either email or dropbox purchased music (and imported music) to each other or is there a simpler, easier, better way to do this? i understand that we could share everything if we lived in the same house but since i'll be in a different location, i'm a bit stumped on how to make this work.
any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There are three ways to address your dilema:
    1) Most expensive and difficult to set up: Media server like the HP EX series ($500) and a VPN (virtual private network) capable router (~$150 to $200). All media goes onto the server. All PC iTunes are set to point to the Media server instead of the default folder on C:\   As new files are added to the media server the iTunes set to point to it will also 'see' the new files.   There are additional setting that have to be made but that's the overview.
    2) Cheapest and easiest to set up: NAS (Network attached storage) (~100 to 300). Like above all media goes onto the NAS. All iTunes are set to point to the NAS instead of the default folder on C:\  The disadvantage of course is that you will not be able to share your stuff or have access to the stuff on the NAS until you come home and resynch everything.
    3) Middle of the road: NAS and a VPN capable router.  The only real disadvantage here is that a NAS is pretty "dumb" and is slower than a media server. Especially if more than one person is using it. They also rely on the router explicitly for security since many do not have an OS to run security software. Some of the more elaborate NAS's do but when you start talking more than $200 I would consider a home media server instead.
    Hope this helps.
P.S. your account and password (iTunes store) will be needed for anyone that wants to use media that you've purchased regardless of which method you go with. The DRM license is stored on each individual computer that accesses it.

  • Different accounts in different computers

Me and my wife have different acounts, in different computers (with differente ios devices), in the past we share of music and books bought from itunes without problems, but know I found the restriction of 90 days to change de AppleID
¿How can now share our content bouth between our two accounts?

    Hi Dongoyo79,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below explains how your Apple ID can be used for different services.  If the majority of your iTunes purchases are on one of your Apple ID's -- you can sign out of the iTunes Store and sign back in using that Apple ID and password.  You can continue to use your other Apple ID to keep all of your data separate for iCloud, etc.
The other option is to use your own Apple ID for iTunes AND iCloud.  If you have separate User accounts on your computer, then you could each build your own iTunes library.  Review the article below and decide which option is best for you.
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
An Apple ID is the email address you use as a login for just about everything you do with Apple, including using iCloud to store your content, buying songs from the iTunes Store, and downloading apps from the App Store.
When you set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the same Apple ID for iCloud services and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store. You can also use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You will get all the benefits of iCloud whether you use the same Apple ID for iCloud and store purchases, or different IDs for each.
The following section explains these two approaches.
Using the same Apple ID for Store purchases and iCloud (recommended)
Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases
    Frequently Asked Questions
I have purchased music, apps, or books with multiple Apple IDs. How can I get all of this content onto my iOS device?

First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:
Mac:  iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between computers
PC:  iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between computers
Next, authorize your computer to play content with each Apple ID in iTunes. Once your computer is authorized for all your content, it can be synced to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
I hope this information helps ....

  • How many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from?

how many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from? i am trying to sync my ipod to another laptop and add my music to that computer but i was wondering if there was a limit on how many computers you can do that with. thanks all.

You can authorize up to five computers for your iTunes purchases.
If manually managing your device you can add content from any library.
If automactially syncing content is managed from one library.
Purchased content can be transfered from a device into an authorised library, otherwise iTunes only transfers content to the device.

  • HT1364 I used these instructions to move my i-tunes library to the external hard drive that two different home pc's access. My playlists do not show on both Is it possible to have one i-pod synch amid two different computers that use the same library?

I have a sole i-pod and two pc's, used the instructions for "iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder" in the hope that I could synch my one i-pod between two different computers that are sharing the same library. Is it possible to have two seperate computers that only share an external hard drive (one wireless, one not) ? When I am looking at a shared library should it appear the same on both machines (ie: playlists/ purchased list etc)?

If it is moved correctly, playlists will display on both computers and it should be possible.
    Close iTunes.
    Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.
When prompted to create a new or open an existing iTunes library point iTunes to the iTunesLibrary.itl file on the external drive.
The entire library should now show up with all playlists and playcounts.
    Do this on both computers.
Keep in mind that only one computer can access iTunes at a time, otherwise errors will occur when each computer attempts to write to or update the iTunesLibrary.itl file.
Syncing may work seemlessly with both computers, but honestly syncing is designed to work with one and only one computer.

  • Downloading songs from two different computers, and not recognizing songs

On my home computer, I downloaded about 40 songs onto my IPod from CDs. Then, I installed the program on my work computer, and purchased four songs from ITunes. When I plug my IPod into my work computer, it is not recognizing the songs I downloaded from my home computer. However, if I plug my IPod into my work computer, I can listen to these four purchased songs, but once I try to listen to them without having it plugged into my work computer, only the songs I downloaded from home are on the IPod.
Has this happened to anyone else who has tried to put songs from two different computers onto their IPod?

Just to elaborate a bit, you need to copy the purchased files and put them on your home computer.
Don't burn them as an audio CD as you will lose quality when you re-import them.
You can use the Shuffle (instead of a CD) to do this

  • How do I access my music on two different computers?

I have the latest version of iTunes on my external hard drive, which I thought would make it easier to use iTunes on different computers. I have purchased quite a bit of music and have ripped several CDs, but I can't access any of it when I use my external hard drive with my laptop. I even downloaded iTunes directly onto my external hard drive to avoid this problem, but I can only see everything that I have purchased/downloaded into iTunes when I use the computer that I originally downloaded iTunes onto.
So my basic question is why can't I access everything I have on iTunes when I use my external hard drive with my laptop instead of my desktop computer?
    Thank you in advance!!!!

Mate, I have been having exactly the same problem, but found the answer a page back.......
I have installed latest iTunes onto my external HD but when I copy my music into it (also held on external drive), it gives an error saying not enough space on C:
It seems that although it is setup on the external, it automatically creates the library on C: rather than your external.
So, if you hold down shift whilst launching iTunes, it allows iTunes to look elsewhere to set up a new library.
Do this and choose create new library then select your external drive for the destination and hey presto!!
I am in the process now of having dumped my original music folder into iTunes and it is busy copying all into new library.
Presumably going to have 2 copies of all music once done but my drive is 320gig so no issue and will just delete the original when done.
    Hope this helps.

  • Different computers

Can we use Home sharing on different computers in the family where each would use a different Apple ID in their iTunes?

You can have each computer use a different Apple ID to login to thier own iTunes. No problem with this.
For home sharing you need to create the home Share using the same Apple ID and password on all machines. This is separate from the iTunes store login id
    so for each machine
File > Home Sharing > Create Home share. Use the same Apple ID on each machine you want to set up. Does not matter which one as long as it is the same
Authorise each Computer with the Apple IDs used on each of your other computers. This is so you can paly content purchased with Apple IDs other than your own
    Store > Authorise this Computer
Then if you do not already have it visible turn on the Sidebar
View > Show Sidebar and if HomeSharing is working you each should see one or more Orange Houses under the shared section of the Sidebar

I accientally synced my iPhone to 2 different computers. Now my older apps are on one computer and new apps are on another.  Every time I try to sync all apps on one computer it takes the other apps of and just syncs what is on that computer - Help please
I cannot for the life of me figure this out.

What you need to do is connect your phone to iTunes but do not click sync.  Go to File at the top and click transfer purchases from phone, that'll put all your apps into iTunes.  When it's done transferring, locate your phone on the sidebar and click it.  Then find the apps option above the picture of your iphone, you can select which apps you want or don't want on your phone.  After selecting your apps then you can sync.  Once you do this you should never have your problem anymore.

  • In how many different computers can I install my snow leopard?

In how many different computers can I install my snow leopard?
The one that came when I bought my Macbook Pro.

Kappy, I believe that he's asking about Snow Leopard, not Lion. Your answer would be correct in reference to Lion purchased from the Mac App Store, but not Lion shipped as original OS on a new Mac.
derojas, assuming you have a standard OEM, it-came-with-the-computer Snow Leopard installer, you are licensed to use it only on that one computer. You are not licensed to install it on any others. Many OEM discs can install only on the specific hardware model with which they shipped, anyway.
If you have a standard retail installer, it's technically possible to install it on any Mac capable of running Snow Leopard. However, again, the license grants you the freedom to install it on only one Mac at a time (i.e. you'd have to delete it from one Mac before you could install it on another).
There are family packs and other multi-licensing arrangements that permit the owner to install Snow Leopard on more than one Mac. You need to check the license to find out how many and what other restrictions might apply.
