My query field has gone dead

My search field has stopped working. (I'm not sure if that's the right name for it - it's the field containing "EMF" in the attached screen shot.) I can type into the filed, but when I hit the search arrow or the magnifying glass (to select a search engine), nothing happens.
I tried "refreshing" FF. It wiped out my add-ons but didn't change the problem.
Do I need to uninstall/reinstall FF completely? Would that fix it? Any other options?

Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

the serial port A on E250 has gone dead. The communication is one-way, I can send, but no response is received. However serial port B is ok. Question is, how can I use port B for rommonitor/solaris install?

well, here's a thought... but i'm not sure how useful it will be to either of you if the system currently won't boot.
the openboot environment variables you're going to change are input-device and output-device
if you were at an ok> prompt, you could simply type 'setenv input-device ttyb', i think you'd also have to set the output-device :)
if you were booted into solaris, you could use the /usr/platform/<your platform here>/sbin/eeprom command to set the eeprom values, for both of you, your platform is sun4u, so you would type:
/usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/eeprom input-device=ttyb
likewise for output-device, you can check your eeprom settings by running eeprom without any arguments.
if you can't boot up currently... then... uh... crap... that's tough... if you can't get into it at all you're gonna have to call sun... probably want to replace that motherboard anyways...

Like all products, especially electrical ones, some have short lifes. Apple does not fix your broken iPod. They will exchange it for a refurbished one it for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the boot drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics.
Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

At this point, you are past the 1 year hardware warranty that comes with the iPhones, and even if you had purchased AppleCare, you would be outside the 2 year coverage that comes with it. Basically you have 2 options, take your phone into an Apple Retail Store near you, and see if they can do anything for it, or pay an out of warranty pricing replacement of $199.

I took out the sim card & put it on a heater in case it had got damp - after about 30mins i put it back in & the phone came on but oly for 20mins or so. I can't switch it on since. It didn't get wet - i didn't drop it - it just stopped working.....It's only 8months old! Did anyone else experience this? Plz help - my husband bought this for me & has no insurance

It's still under warranty, so if there really IS something wrong with it Apple will exchange it.
First try a Reset - Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). If it is completely dead charge it for 30 minutes using the mains charger first.

I had it on charge at about 12 today took it of and went dead about an hour ago. Now its not charging at all. I have tried 2 diffrent usb cables into the wall plus the computer. I have only had it since July last year.

"Debris pocket"? I said "check for pocket debris" as in debris /dirt / fluff from whatever pocket you might carry the phone in. A piece of dirt in the phone's docking port can easily prevent a good connection being made with the charging cable.

Seems like you are restoring from a blank back up if it is still asking you those 3 options of set up as new, restore from itunes or icloud back up. Set the iPhone up as new then manually restore from a back up. Follow the steps foriTunes 10.7 or earlier in the article below as it is the same process for iTunes 11:

When you do this you will be able to check for backs showing date and time. Be sure to choose a back up made before you restored to factory settings.

EMac has gone dead

I've just bought a new PowerMac and was upgrading from my old eMac. I put in a firewire cable to both to do a migrate and the eMac went all beach ball whirry - not just on the prog I was in. It didn't respond to the keyboard so I unplugged it to reset. Unfortunately now, despite tryign different cables, leaving the machine unplugged, it still refuses to answer to the power on button. Perhaps it knows I don't need it any more! Only trouble is....I didn't do a back-up before I did this. And besides, I'd quite like to sell it rather than leave it as a large paperweight.

Is there any indication that the eMac is getting power at all --- power led, fan noise, hard drive spinning noise, any kind of noise or hum or vibration at all?If it's getting power but not coming up at all, then that would point at the logic board (possiblly a fried PMU); if there's nothing at all, I'd wonder if somehow the power supply blew out (perhaps somehow shorting out when you pulled the plug on it). The power supply might be cost-effective to replace. Be careful with those instruction you found on the net for opening up an eMac; they're not kidding when they warn that the CRT/analog assembly carries dangerous voltages (primarily, the CRT yoke) and to use a discharge tool before doing any work around there.

My iPod has gone dead!

For some reason I have been having trouble with my brand new Nano Chromatic. Last night I turned the iPod on and within about 30 seconds the screen went blank and it seemed to have turned itself off. I tried without success to turn it back on, but nothing worked. The only option of The Five Rs for iPod nano (4th generation) I have not done is restore.
I connected my Nano to my home computer and nothing happened. It isn't being recognised either.
What is wrong with my iPod and what can I do to fix it?

I ended up getting too impatient waiting for a response, so after, as i said in my original post, i tried the '5 r's' and anything else i could think of, i called apple support and the told me to take it into my nearest genius bar (Chadstone). the people there replaced the iPod for me and now the new one works fine.

Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time for about 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Then let go of the buttons. Ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen.
See if the iPad will restart by doing this.
