My question is about IQ507 touchsmart.

I got this as used one and pretty soon the hard disk died. I got that replaced from hp. The recent problems which I am facing include freezing at the start up, or in the middle of work, without any warning. Also I had couple of times when the screen gave me all the rainbow colors with freezing instead of nice picture which I wanted to see. You see when your video card is not working. I had to push the power button to give it a force shut down everytime it does this. I have run the hp diagnosis and everything is working fine from their point of view. There is not antivirus at the moment installed and my kids usually go to you tube and internet for the games etc. What could be the reason and what is the fix if there is any. It has become quite unreliable if someone is really doing something productive on it like assignment or office work.
By the way it is out of warranty.
Also another thing which I have noticed is that touchsmart thing is not very user friendly. There are places which are too sensitive to touch while others are not that much. Some can even get activated with just bringing the finger closer. I tried to calibrate it but still it did not work. I am a bit reluctant in uninstalling and reinstalling it again. How easy is it and can I do it without any agent's help?
Please help.
Thanks
Zia

Hello zia200z:
Goto Trend.com and run a full scan using house call its free. Then please install virus protection unless you love replacing hard drives and memory chips. You have a bad malware or virus on your computer that is causing these issues. You can pick up from any where especially from game sites and you tube sites. Ounce your system is clean then we be able to help you repair damages. Go from there. I hope D. drive has not been damaged yet. Recovery is easy to do. Provided D drive was not effected. What I would do is purchase two things a very good anti virus software such as Trend Micro Titanium Pro. Farely in expensive and a set of recovery disks from HP. Then just insert recovery disks and install anti virus software. These computers are excellent and are easley maintainable. I know Trend Titanium Pro can scan your back up files from this effected computer when you add these files back on again. I would start backing up my personal filed while you wait for delivery of recovery factory recovery disc. Yes it is easy to do recoveries but I think your D. drive has been damaged based on what you wrote. That is why I recommend you purchasing a set recovery disc.

My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

the person who can best give you the right answer is no other than the person who gave you that question.
with that limited information you gave me, it's quite difficult for me to point you in the right direction as i don't know the whole picture of your problem.

  • Student needing some questions answered about Manufacturing Scheduling software

    Greetings;
I am a undergraduate senior at Arizona State University majoring in Supply Chain Management. I am currently doing a project about Oracle's Manufacturing Scheduling option and have a few general questions for those of you that have used the software and/or involved with its implementation. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you are uncomfortable releasing your company's name that is fine. If you do not want to post the answers here, I can also be emailed at rmkraus"SAYNOTOSPAMBOTS"@asu.edu. Thank you!!
    The questions I have are:
What is your experience with the manufacturing scheduling software?
What is/was your role with the software?(ie buyer, consultant, user, technical support, etc)
How do you feel about the software's ease of use?
What training did you recieve or did your company offer?
How much did implementing the software approxiamately cost?
What do you feel are the advantages of the software?
What do you feel are the disadvantages of the software?
Did your company have any problems during the implementation?
Has your company experienced cost savings due to the software?
Have you or your company used any competing software in the past?
Any other insight that you would like to share?
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help.

    Im not sure on 5
I know it's unusual, but if your project budget is
good you may have more than one constructor. At least
that's what I thoughtach.. you poor fellow, you are confused now aren't you.
i bet taht in the fifth question they are talking about 'constructor methods', not procrammers who are constructing the code (or 'contractors')
if your budget allws then you may even have three or 87 contractors, but that's not the case here.
i hope that clarifies things a bit.
and PS! i don't like when people intentionally give bad solutions to others.

  • Question # 3 about the HDMI-DVI cable

OK...My older DVD player is working just fine with the component video cable.
Now let's suppose that DVD player eventually stops working and I replace it with a new one.
On the newer DVD players, does the HDMI-DVI cable take the place of the component video cable or do both cables need to be used?  Can the newer DVD players function with just the HDMI-DVI cable alone?

I actually just answered my own question right before I saw your reply.  But thank you for confirming what I thought.  That makes a lot of sense.  I already have my existing DVD player set up with the component video cable and you are correct about needing an audio cable.  I learned that through a process of elimination when I was setting that up and I have plenty of extra audio cables in my closet, so we're definitely on the same wavelength.  My existing DVD player doesn't have the HDMI capability but the component video cable is fine.  Now I just have a better understanding of how this works.   I believe that my existing DVD player is analog but it's very good and I will glady keep it until it goes.
I was also just fooling with my TV settings.  On my "source" list, I had had TV selected as source but I switched it to HDMI, which is what I already connected to my HDTV --- what a difference in sound and picture quality.

  • Question(s) about upgrading MBP HD

Ok, let me start off with the system basics–
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
I currently have a Hitachi internal HD, the 200GB 7200 RPM option that came as an option on theis particular model of MBP.
    Intel ICH8-M AHCI:
    Vendor: Intel
    Product: ICH8-M AHCI
    Link Speed: 1.5 Gigabit
    Negotiated Link Speed: 1.5 Gigabit
    Description: AHCI Version 1.10 Supported
    Hitachi HTS722020K9SA00:
    Capacity: 200.05 GB (200,049,647,616 bytes)
    Model: Hitachi HTS722020K9SA00
    Revision: DC4AC77A
    Serial Number: 071212DP1410***5WP
    Native Command Queuing: Yes
    Queue Depth: 32
    Removable Media: No
    Detachable Drive: No
    BSD Name: disk0
Partition Map Type: GPT (GUID Partition Table)
    S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified
I am in dire need of more on-board storage. I frequently travel, and toting an external HD has become exceptionally awkward, especially through airport security and customs.
To forestall the inevitable suggestions, no, I cannot use a web-based storage service, as I'm frequently in areas without access.
    Now, here's what wanted know:
    1) The Link Speed of the HD is 1.5 Gigabit, so I'm assuming that means that it's an SATA 1.5 interface. Now, if I were to install an SATA 3.0 Gigabit HD in this laptop, would it just step down to match the 1.5, or are they two completely separate, non-compatible interfaces?
    2) I have a stationary external HD that I use for making Time Machine backups when I can. If I install a new drive, all I should have to do from there is install OS X on it, and restore my backup from there, correct?
If I need to do a flat reinstall on everything, that can be done as well, but I'll need to notify some people that I'm grounded for a few days while I get everything back to working order.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
    <Edited by Host>

    1) Thanks, that alleviates my biggest source of concern. =)
    2) I've done full restores with TM before, and I rather like that it's fairly stupid-proof. I'm fairly good with hardware; however, my wife calls me the Reaper when it comes to software-end things.
I'm going to mark this as helpful, because it has been very much so, but I'll leave it as an open question until I get the new drive in to do the install.
Worst case, I play a game of musical hardware and give my 6mm Torx a workout.
As far as repurposing the old drive, I have an ridiculous amount of external storage, so that's not an issue. Frankly, I'd prefer to pickle & box the old drive as an emergency backup, on the off chance that my new one fails; I don't know about you, but I can't just run down the street and buy a 2.5" drive at the drop of the hat.
Yay for all the decent stores in my area being put out of business by Best Buy.

  • Question(s) about Zen Neeon (specifically number of songs in a fold

I recently placed an order for the Zen Neeon because its small, its UMS (I don't like using software to upload my music to my player) and its cool looking. But, after ordering, I became more aware about the problems with the player.
The biggest gripe that people have is the lag between songs. I read that in the manual, it says not to have more than 50 songs in a folder.
So, here are a few questions:
) If I have say 2 songs in a folder (average length of an album), how long of a lag between tracks would I expect?
    2) If I make a playlist of more than 50 songs that spans a couple of different folders, would I expect a large lag between songs?
I have a Muvo2 (currently broken with a non-functional headphone jack. I should send it in though for repair) and I loved the player. I hoped that the Zen Neeon would be a great replacement, but it looks like with these initial problems, it would only be a good replacement. I did not mind on the Muvo2 the long time for it to load up after I transfer tracks to it, but there was barely any lag when play songs.
Looks like the Zen Neeon is very similiar to the Muvo OS...so I'm wondering why there is a problem with the long gap playing between songs.

index26 wrote:I thought the Neeon was a microdri've based player, not solidstate.
I'm not too sure with the Neeon, if it's over Gb then it may well be a microdri've like some of the MuVo? players.

  • Question(s) about what could happen to my iPod Touch...

So I have just inherited my sister's launch iPod Touch, as she is receiving a gen 2 from her boyfriend in the very near future. I have a couple questions about what I need to do with it and the consequences of said actions:
    1. How do I go about registering the Touch to my own Apple account? She has her own Apple/iTunes account (she also has a gen 2 Nano and a gen 2 Shuffle), and I want to be able to sync it with my own account. I realize that the songs and videos will be lost in the transition, but that's irrelevant to me.
    2. Since this is a launch Touch, it came with ver. 1.0 OS software. Since then, she has paid for and installed ver. 2.2 (or whatever is latest prior to 3.0). In regards to my first question, will the Touch revert to ver. 1.0, and I will have to be forced to re-purchase the OS update in order to get the apps store, new features, etc?
Thanks for your time and patience.

So this is what popped up when I tried to sync the Touch:
"The iPod is synched with another iTunes account...what would you like to do?"
    1. "Erase & Sync" replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library (this worries me, since it doesn't specify what particular contents i.e. software updates).
    2. "Transfer Purchases" copies iTunes Store purchases this computer is authorized to play from this iPod to this iTunes library (so, do I need my sister's ID and password to confirm I am able to use her bought data? If so, will this let me use all her apps, etc?)

  • Question(s) about updating to iOS 5.1.

Hi everyone! I have a few questions about updating my iPod to the iOS 5.1.
    First question:
How long will it take? I have used about 8GB worth of memory on it but I have good internet speed.
    Second question:
My main computer that I originally had everything set up with doesn't want to work good at all with iTunes, so I switched everything over to my grandma's
computer. So the question is, what will happen to all my music, apps, etc. if I update using my grandma's computer?
    Third question:
Do I need to transfer my photo's over? I have over 1,000 photo's on my iPod and I was wondering if I updated would I need to transfer them to the computer
or if they'll manually stay on the iPod.
    Fourth Question:
If I update, will I be able to do future updates on the iPod itself without everything being erased like it is with past updates?
    Fifth and final question:
Is the kinks in iOS 5.1 worked out yet? I remember when iOS 5 came out they had a miserable time with it and everyone wasn't too pleased, so I'm wondering if
it'll do me any good to update?
I know I sound like a noob, but the last update I did was iOS 4.2 and I don't like doing updates because they take forever with putting everything back on the iPod. They also worry me a bit because I don't want to lose my music and apps (yes I back the iPod up every few downloads but it still worries me lol). Thanks

Downloading the update file can take an hour or more. After it is downloaded the actual update should take between one and two hours, likely closer to one hour.
    Second question:
My main computer that I originally had everything set up with doesn't want to work good at all with iTunes, so I switched everything over to my grandma's
computer. So the question is, what will happen to all my music, apps, etc. if I update using my grandma's computer?
If all the media is on Grandma's computer and in the iTunes library and the computer authrized for the iTunes accounts used then the media will be restored to the iPod during a latter stage of the update if you:
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and and make a backup by right clicking one the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup. The restore will also do the update.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like aps and music.
    Third question:
Do I need to transfer my photo's over? I have over 1,000 photo's on my iPod and I was wondering if I updated would I need to transfer them to the computer or if they'll manually stay on the iPod.
If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod they are in the backup that iTunes makes.  If they were synced to the iPod you have to move them from the old computer to grandma's computer. There are third-party programs that will copy synced photos from the iPod to a computer but you have to pay for them.
    Fourth Question:
If I update, will I be able to do future updates on the iPod itself without everything being erased like it is with past updates?
With iOS 5, you can do subsequent updates on the iPod itself via wifi. Nothing is lost (unless something goes amiss)
    Fifth and final question:
Is the kinks in iOS 5.1 worked out yet? I remember when iOS 5 came out they had a miserable time with it and everyone wasn't too pleased, so I'm wondering if
it'll do me any good to update?
I have no problems with iOS 5.1. It is improved over iOS 5 and 5.o.1 with the except that sometines the iPod will crash when you try to edit a photo you took.
I know I sound like a noob, but the last update I did was iOS 4.2 and I don't like doing updates because they take forever with putting everything back on the iPod. They also worry me a bit because I don't want to lose my music and apps (yes I back the iPod up every few downloads but it still worries me lol). Thanks
The following also tells you what will happen when you update another than the syncing computer. If you follow with what I said above, it will be the same as updating on yur syncing computer.

    2.Does muttt support Unicode (UTF-8)?

BTW.If somone has better proposition for a mail client please post (except KMail and Thunderbird).

    1) mutt uses .mailcap to specify what applications to use to open up attachments (all images in emails are attachments).
    2) Yes. You may want to search the mutt mail archives for specifics (I know it's come up on there quite a bit). mutt will use the charset specified in the email itself, and you can set the "assumed_charset" variable to handle emails that don't specify it.

  • Kind of a wierd question, but about Tiger compatibility

i dont think asking a question like this is against any rules...if it is, let me know. i've been reading about these tutorials telling how to install a hacked version of tiger on any intel-based pc.
now with the new processors and hardware in the new apple machines, including the new Mac Pro's which, to me, seem not to much different from a regular pc, could a person, theoredically build a machine from any Intel Core 2 Duo, compatible mobo, RAM, HD, and whatnot, and install and run Tiger from the install DVD's natively, and run it like any Mac Pro?
thanks for reading and taking the time to answer.

Again, it may be possible, and people probably already have done it, but it's not a legal use of the software.
Also, there's more to the logic board than the CPU and some of those components may not be easy to copy. To me, there doesn't seem to be much point...
Comparing the MacPro to a comparable Dell, the price is the same or better for the MacPro (The cheapest Dual Xeon Dell option I could see on Dell's website had a starting price of $3200). To those that will try, let them try. For those that want to save money and use Mac OS on a supported system, steer them to the nearest Apple Store.

  • Tom Tom iPhone mount charger question + Article about Tom Tom app details

    Hello, all.
First off, here's a handy article posted two days ago from PC World explaining quite a bit more about the Tom Tom iPhone app straight from the horse's mouth so to speak:
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/167906/tomtomforiphone.html
The article states that the Car Kit's "power cable plugs into your car's accessory jack or any USB power source and charges your iPhone while docked."
Here's my question: Since there's no release date in sight for the app and Car Kit, I want to buy a car charger for my iPhone. Would the smartest thing be to buy a charger whose USB cord is separate from the cigarette lighter adapter? That way, buying a charger now won't be a complete waste of money since I could still use the adapter with the Car Kit when it comes out. If I'm understanding that excerpt correctly, it sounds like the Car Kit won't include a built-in cigarette lighter adapter connected to the mounting dock.
Maybe it's too soon to know for sure since the details seem sketchy but I want to get a car charger in the meantime but will hold off if it turns out it will be useless once the Car Kit comes out. Thanks.

Not that I know of but you can opt in for updates at the [TomTom for iPhone|http://iphone.tomtom.com> page..

  • 2 questions - one about Frame Rates, the other about Rendering

These are two areas I need to learn more about.
Any answers to my 2 specific questions below would be appreciated, but also, I need to gain a deeper understanding of these 2 areas, so if you have any recommendations on how/where to learn more, I'd appreciate that, as well.
    1. I'm trying to copy a tape from an older 8mm Sony Handycam to my Canon XL-1 mini-DV, in order to be able to import the footage into FCP, however, it comes out all messed up, skipping and jumping in a way that makes me think the frame rate of the two cameras is not in sync. I don't know of a way to change, or even to confirm, the frame rate of either one of these cameras and have found nothing online. Yet, I was able to successfully copy a tape a few years ago, with the same equipment I'm using now, so I'm thinking maybe the frame rate was changed on one of these??? I don't know.
    2. I've never really understood rendering - why some clips require it while others do not. The latest example was with footage from my Canon and a different (newer) Sony DCR-SR68. Because the format of this Sony is wider than that of the Canon, I shot it knowing that I'd be cropping off some of the left and right of the frame. So, in FCP, when I click and drag the corner of the wireframe in the canvas to make the Sony footage fill the square, it needs to be rendered in the Timeline. However, if I do the same with the Canon footage, it does not require rendering. I'm trying to understand why. If it makes a difference, the Canon footage was imported directly from the camera, whereas the Sony footage needed to be first imported into iMovie and saved as an MPEG before being imported into FCP.
    Thanks a lot.
    J

    Hi Mr. Chappell,
Many older tapes have sat on shelves etc. for many years, It is
    a good idea to,
First make sure your 8mm is mechanically sound, throw in a blank or
unimportant tape and make sure it will play etc. without causing any
    phisical damage to the tape.
Then put in a tape to transfer and Fast forward to the end and then rewind
to the begginning, this will re-pack/tension the tape.
then play the tape back briefly while looking thru the viewfinder or monitoring
with a tv, hopefully all looks well.
then connect and transfer to the mini-dv (best to use a tbc, but should work
without)then playback the DV tape briefly, again, with either viewfinder or TV,
if all looks good you should have no problems unless they are related
to capture settings (they should match the DV cameras video and audio sampling
    rate, check for 32K).
    Hope this helps,
    J>H<L
