My /Quicken 2008 will not print

I recently got a new HP PC.  It has Windows 7 on it.  I have Quicken 2008 that will not print on my HP Photosmart 7350 series printer.  It will print other stuff but not the Quicken data.  What can I do different?

Try installing a generic driver for printing from Quicken only.
===Step one: Determine which port the current HP product uses===
a. From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon/Start button.
b. In the Start Search box, type control printers and then press Enter . The Printers window appears.
c. Locate the HP product in the list of printers, right-click the HP product, and then click Properties .
d. Click the Ports tab and write down the name of the port that has a check mark in the box beside it. This is the port to which the current HP product is printing.
e. Click Cancel to close the Properties dialog box.
===Step two: Add an HP Deskjet 990c default printer===
a. In the Printers window, click Add a printer .
b. Under Choose a local or network printer , click Add a local printer and then click Next .
c. Click Use an existing port , click the down-arrow ( ) to the right to select the port identified in Step one, and then click Next .
d. Under Manufacturer , locate and click HP .
e. Under Printers , locate and click hp deskjet 990c and then click Next .
f. In the Printer Name box, change the name of the printer if you'd like to.
g. Continue the wizard and select the preferred options, and then click Finish .
Try printing to this new printer icon you created and see if it helps.

Do you have the 64 bit version of WIn 7?  This thread suggests printing from the 64 bit Vista (and WIn 7 would be similar) is an issue in Quicken 2008 and 2009.  The thread suggests there is a solution but the link requires registering for the Quicken forum and that did not work for me this afternoon.

New pc w/ Windows 7. My HP deskjet 3650 will not print PDF, Quicken, Website selections, etc.
    HELP!

Did you install the driver as described here?  Will the printer print a Windows test page or a file from Notepad?  Do print jobs remain in the print queue?  Are there any error messages?

  • HP photosmart 6520 e Bought new Will not print my voucher checks. Details below

8 1/2 X 11 voucher checks    To eliminate size, texture, thickness, any other paper reasons ,  I turned the check upside down.  it printed exzctly on the back of the check what it should print on the face of the check.   With the check face up, the printer drops down below the check and prints on the voucher what it should print on the check.   If I feed a plain sheet of paper instead of the check, it will print correctly what it should print on the check............But it will NOT print on the check!!
My impressioon is that the printer scans the check, thinks the check is a letter head,  and faithfully refranes from over-printing on the letterhead.  Could this printer be that smart??         If so, where do I look inside to turn that feature off.
I'm using windows 7 with quicken (2007 issue) but the fact that the printer wii print correctly on  anything you stick in there EXCEPT THE CHECK, pretty much eliminates everything cxcept the printer being headstrong.

Well I'm sorry that didn't, since your already using the latest drivers I recommend trying to install an alternate print driver and see if that helps any.
    To try another print driver
    -click on the Start icon
    -choose "devices and printers"
    -choose "add a printer"
-select "add a local printer" (make sure you choose the existing port that your current printer is on)
at the install the printer driver section choose "HP" as the manufacturer and under printers look for the "HP Deskjet 990c"
If your unable to locate the 990c driver click on the "windows update" button and then follow the above steps to choose the 990c print driver.
-click next once you have the driver selected
-if it asks I always select "do not share this printer" and I don't set it as default
    just finish off the installation.
Once the new driver is installed you should see the 990c printer and be able to print to it.  Try selecting it in your Quicken program to print the check.
Sorry for the frustration, I hope this helps.

  • HP Laserjet 4100 on network will not print

Since I’ve installed Snow Leopard, I have not been able to print with my HP Laserjet 4100.
My set-up: new 24” iMac, many hard drives and more. Two devices: HP Color Laserjet 5550 and HP Officejet J5750 are connected to the iMac through a USB Hub. Although initially scanning did not work with the J5750, I was able to make that work once additional drivers were downloaded from HP. Both work fine.
I also have an older HP Laserjet 4100 which has been my steady workhorse for years. It only has Ethernet and serial port outlets. It is connected to an AT&T 2-Wired Ethernet Hub/DSL Modem (model 2701HG-B) that is connected to the iMac.
I’ve contacted HP and Apple about this problem. None of the three people I worked with at Apple could help and the HP representative was unsure if they could help but that it would cost me $40 to find out. According to HP website, since Apple Talk no longer exists, we are required to input the IP for the device. For the 4100, the IP address is 10.0.1.100. I tried this two ways: in the “Add Printer” window under “IP,” inputted as the IPP, and inputted as the HP Jetdirect Socket (as per the HP instructions). When this is done, the printer shows up when you give a print command. However, it does not show up in the “Add Printer” window under “default” or anywhere else.
Status: If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable directly to the back of the iMac, the “Supply” level indicates the true level of toner in the 4100. However, it will not print. If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet hub, the supply level does not show nor can I print.
    Any suggestions?

I am struggling with the same problem. I have two HP 4100dtn printers on ethernet. Each has a manually assigned IP address. I can set up the printer(s) just fine in the Print & Fax Preference and Snow Leopard finds the printer just fine when I enter the IP address and chooses the correct HP Driver.
When I try to print, my print job appears in the queue as expected, than an error appears that something about a "bad command". Sorry, I'm home right now and don't have direct access to the printer so I can't give you the precise language of the message, but the gist of the message is that the system tried to connect to the printer to send the print data but the printer does not know how to respond to the command that was sent.
It's as if the firmware in the 4100 just doesn't have something in it's lexicon that Snow Leopard needs. The HP web site is no help. One page I found says the printer is supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01664444&jumpid=regR1002USEN ) and another page I found says that it is not supported (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01879014&jumpid=regR1002USEN). The HP on line chat won't let me log in and hold a chat with HP unless I know the Serial Number of the printer, which I don't have here at home.
    More to follow tomorrow.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Well, another week has gone by without a solution.
    Again, here is the problem:
I have a 24" iMac connected to a USB hub and an AT&T 2-Wire DSL/ethernet hub. When I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and now the update 10.6.2, the two printers on the USB hub work fine but the HP Laserjet 4100dtn does not print. This old printer has only ethernet or serial ports. I've downloaded and installed the HP driver updates from Apple and HP to no avail. According to HP, I must add the 4100 manually using its IP. I've followed the instructions while adding a printer to select IP- HP Jetdirect - Socket. The address of the printer is 10.0.1.100. When I type this in, the window says that this is a valid and complete address. It searches and then says the "Print Using:" is a Generic PostScript Printer. The driver for this printer, I believe, should be "HP LaserJet 4100 Series v.3010.107" Regardless, when I click Add the window "Determining Installable Options" shows "Status: Connecting to printer..." It never establishes a connection.
The 2-Wire DSL/Ethernet Hub/Modem, has an IP of 192.1687.1.66, Submask 255.255.255.0 and Router (DNS) 192.168.1.254.
If I plug the ethernet cable directly from the printer to the iMac, the supply level shows correctly but will not print. If I plug the ethernet cable from the printer to the 2-Wire and then to the iMac, it neither shows supply level nor prints.
Any suggestion as to how to fix this problem? (I've been on the phone with 3 different Apple respresentatives and 1 HP representative with no success.)

  • Officejet Pro 8600 - Macbook Pro and Macbook Air will not print

    Products:
    HP Officejet Pro 8600
Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5)
Macbook Air (OS X, Version 10.8.2)
    Question:
Why did my Macs initially print fine, but now will not print at all?
    Full Story:
I have a wireless network at my house that consisted of a 30mb cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 Dell Laptops with Windows 7, a Lenovo Laptop with Windows 7, and Dell Tower with Windows 7 - All printed just fine.
The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.
I added a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  Both Macs printed just fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stopped.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP Service, and they finally said it must be my router.  So I called Netgear.  Netgear was useless!  They wanted me to agree to charges for services before they would even discuss the issue.
Due to information provided by HP's service support, and because Netgear will not support their product, I promptly purchased a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.
The Macs recognize the printer, will print if hardwired via a USB cable, but will not print wirelessly to the Officejet Pro 8600.  The PCs print fine.
The frustration that is being felt is compound by the fact that the Macs printed just fine with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks ago, and now the printer just shows "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)
Please help, I appreciate any support.
As a side note, the HP Service rep was very friendly, and definitely tried to support the HP Product, which is much more than I can say about Netgear.
    Thank you,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
More likely the issue related with Multicast, which Apple devices relies on to communicate with teh device through the network.
First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.
Plug it back to the power and wait for 2-3 minutes.
Turn the HP printer Off and back On, then check for any difference.
If the same persists, try changing your router configuration as following
Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you the steps as a best effor and those are only based on my own knowledge. you may try modifying the router settings at your own risk:
Open the router configuration page (can be found listed as the Default Gateway by clicking the Wireless icon on the printer, then print a network configuration report.
    Click the Advanced tab.
Click the Setup option from the menu, then click on WAN Setup.
Make sure to uncheck the box next to Disable IGMP Proxying and Apply the changes.
Click the LAN Setup on the same Setup menu.
Set the RIP Version as RIP-2 and Apply the changes.
Reboot your router and then check for any change.
I hope you may find that information useful, you may also use the user guide below for further information:

  • My wireless HP Deskjet 3050 printer will not print from web sites.

My HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer will not print from web sites - it prints ok from WORD, etc. I keep getting the error message: "An unknown error occurred while printing." This problem only arises with Firefox browser.
The printer is connected wirelessly to a network and this occurs when I use a laptop on the network. It is also connected via cable to a desktop computer but there is no problem in printing from the desktop.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

That sounds as if you need to investigate to see if you were able to clear all of the paper that was causing the jam.
    Best regards,

  • My Hp 8500a plus printer keeps saying it is offline and will not print. Was printing now stopped.

I have an HP 8500a plus printer. Lately, when I go to print from Macbook or iPad, it tells me the printer is offline. My printer says it is connected to my wifi but will not print. Printer firmware is up to date. I have changed nothing, and now it will not print. Very frustrated and tired of spending all of this time trying to fix the printer just to print. This is my second HP printer this month and it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes.
Am I missing something? I don't understand how it can print one day and not the next.

Try this if it is an Airprint Printer.
    1. Turn the router, iPad and printer off
    2. Turn on the router and then wait 30 seconds
    3. Turn on printer and then wait 30 seconds
    4. Turn on your iPad and test print.

  • Hp 1315 will not print with 10.6.7

I cannot find any answers to this strange set of circumstances.
I had an old iMac and an hp 1315 all-in-one printer, and everything worked fine. I recently bought a new iMac with OS 10.6.7, and, rather than reinstalling the printer software, I just plugged the old printer into the USB port on the new iMac. The printer worked fine but the device would not scan. I have since learned that 10.6.7 supports printing ONLY on this device. So far so good, but this is where things get strange.
I wanted to scan some pictures, so I got out the old software CD that came with the printer and installed it in my new iMac. The result was that the device was now able to scan. I was happy about this until I discovered that the 1315 now will not print. I have done everything I can think of, including:
    -- uninstalling the hp software
-- downloading the most recent driver from the HP website
-- deleting the printer from the Print & Fax window and then adding it again
-- running the "Reset Printing System" on the Print & Fax window
    -- running "Software Update"
    -- unplugging, replugging, restarting, etc.
-- running the test page on the printer
-- using the device to copy (i.e., using it separate from the computer)
-- checking to see that there are no lights blinking on the device and that it has toner and paper
The Print & Fax window shows me that my 1315 is "Idle" and is the "Last Printer Used," and it has the green light next to it that should indicate that there are no issues with the printer. But when I try and print something, it doesn't print, and the job status is simply "Error."
I am fine with using this device as a printer only, like I did up until yesterday. I have another scanner, and if I had known this would happen I would used it and would never have touched the 1315 or messed with its scanning function.
I must be able to print things for my business. Can anyone help me.

Download and use the updated HP software from their web site, don't use the disk.
You might have to perform some of the steps here, including trying a new user and #18 Resintall Just OS X to kick out the traces

  • HP Officejet 4360 e-All-in-One Series - Will scan but will not print

So I have installed my new wireless printer and it will scan, both on USB and wireless, but it will not print. During the install process, at the very end of step 3, it says that it can't find an internet connection then prompts to copy a URL for completion of install online. The link takes me through the same install process.
When trying to print there is an error that says that it will not print due to a problem with the current printing setup. HP Print and Scan doctor lists all ok. The internal print test page works but the test page doesn't. It then prompts reinstall. So far I have tried:
    Reinstalling
    Reinstalling after running disk cleanup
Reinstalling after with firewall turned off
Changing to a standard TCP/IP port
The problem is the same whether on USB connect or wireless.
I am about to throw this thing out the window. Any ideas to save its life?

  • Officejet 4500 will not print from internet.

Printer will only print e-mails, will not print anything from internet.  "Unspecified error, Line 2107, Char1, Code0 res://ieframe.dll/preview.js" appears when ever I try to print from internet.

The issue is caused when Windows creates the printer profile in the control panel that it doesn't correctly create it with the drivers.
We're not going to completely uninstall all the HP software, instead we're going to remove the corrupt Windows printer profile and reinstall it.  Total time for this on an average computer is about 5-10 minutes to completely repair (including reboot).
    1) Navigate to Start Menu > Devices and Printers or Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers
    2) Select each printer profile for the printer with an issue, then select remove device/printer.
    3) Reboot
    4) Navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > HP > insert model # here > Add Printer (or Setup Wizard)
    5) Follow the setup prompts to reinstall the printer profile and it recreates the Windows printer.
    6) Test by printing google.com (uses very little ink when the test page comes out).
Let me know if you have any questions or issues.
    Thanks,
