My QuickTime export not displaying 16.9 Anamorphic?

Hi all,
I would really appreciate it if someone can shed any light on this frustrating problem please?]
I am working with FCP version 4.5 HD which came with Production Suite. My media displays correctly at 16.9 Anamorphic within the Project, Browsers and Timeline but when I export from FCP Project using QuickTime Conversion (Version 7.6.4) my video display is squashed up into a 4.3 presentation with awful letter boxing left and right of frame and everything looks ridiculously squashed!
I'm getting this problem with all QuickTime Conversion settings, MPEG4, DV Pal, & H264. Doesn't QuickTime 7 display 16.9 Anamorhic correctly?
Many thanks and Happy Christmas
Simon

Why are you exporting with Quicktime Conversion? Just export as a Quicktime Movie with Current Settings. Then bring that into Compressor for any transcoding you may need.

  • Flash and quicktime export not possible at all!

    hi iwork dev team!
as there was no result on my prev post, here again:
    i use keynote'08 4.02 on imac with 2gb and osx 10.5.2.
i created a presentation with 15 slides and over all 16,5 minutes.
each slide has a mp3 sound file attached (the speakers voice recorded externally).
now i am facing following problems on *export to flash* (export is around 18mb):
    1) synchronization of voice and effects is different than inside keynote - i fixed this by changing times and export/test cycles, as long until i run sync in swf (please make it sync - this is terrible).
    2) starting with slide 13 some objects do not appear - in further slides many objects do not appear. the sound and time is ok, but not much to see. if i split the presentation into 2 parts, the export works fine, all objects appear in all slides, but i found no way to combine those 2 swf files....
    3) in one slide i found out that the order of appearing/disappearing objects confuses the swf export, so that many objects afterwards are not at all shown.... i played around long and splitted the slide in 2 slides and with some workarounds i got it show all objects.
    4) it would be great if at least some transitions and most effects would be supported and times of effects would be the same inside keynote and in exported swf.
    *exporting to quicktime*:
    1) first i had one large mp3 for the whole presentation and added it as soundtrack and synced it inside keynote. exporting this to quicktime made it run async. but at least export was possible for the full presentation.
    2) i splitted the mp3 for each slide and added each mp3 to each corresponding slide. this way i made it possible to export to swf (see above). but quicktime export now has no sound and slide shows up nearly endless.... qt export is impossible.
    what can i do?
at least it would help me if i can export ONE swf file.
best would be if it has same sync inside keynote and in swf - but i can live for now with swf export optimized sync that doesnt work inside keynote. but it should be fixed at least in the future....

I'm currently having a similar problem, where the Flash exported by Keynote seems to randomly miss some objects on the page that appear after a click or a delay. In fact, in one case, I had embedded a EPS file in the slide, and some parts of the embedded file were exported to Flash but not others. I'm using Keynote 3.0.2, so I'm sorry to hear that Keynote '08 still has this bug which makes Flash export pretty awful to deal with.

  • Video track/layer missing on QUICKTIME export - not missing if I use H.264 export?!

Having a strange issue with Premier Pro CS5.04.  I'm exporting a video - 2 layers of MP4 video and one TITLE layer over the top.  The top video layer is a cropped and blurred section of the same file as the clip below, to obscure some text on the video.  When I export as an H.264 mp4 file it all exports fine - all layers intact and the blurring looks fine.
However, when i change to a QUICKTIME Pro Res 720 codec, the export does not include the blurred video layer - the settings on the timeline are identical, no opacity changes etc, and if I move the clips around to different video tracks the same issue occurs.  Any idea why it would ignore the top video clip in a quicktime export?! Seems bizarre.
I'd love to include a screen grab but the uploader isn't working on this window. Useful.

I've spent the last week searching the internet, reading articles, posting on forums.  Found several people with the same issue, but no answers.
The code is fine.  I've tried code from several other articles/posts... they are all the same.  Standard <object><embed> method.
Only thing I can think of is that the QT file is NOT being properly exported with Fast Start encoded.
I was using QT Alternative, which MAY be part of the problem...  But real QT has a major bug in the installer that Apple appears to be ignoring for a long time now (...non-admin accounts get an error when trying to run QT, as the registry keys are not properly set as far as permissions).... which is preceisely why I went to QT Alternative.  I tried installing QT (real) again today, but got the same error with QT (...can't find ActiveX files... which is what appears as a result of the installer bug).
What I'm trying now is I (reluctantly) switched my account to an Admin account (...QT now actually works, rather than getting an error on startup), and I'll try exporting the QT renders again, and see if there's a difference.
But, ya, there appears to be a lot of people out there who can't get the Fast Start working lately.
I'm open to any alternatives... as long as they are not complicated, and as long as they work.  Just want embedded files on my site that Fast Start (or equivelant), and only start downloading when you click play (...otherwise, I'll have 10 clips competing to download while my HTML page still tried to finish downloading it's own content).

  • QuickTime 7 not displaying video in 16.9 Anamorphic

I'm sure other users have discovered this frustrating problem with QT 7 and if anyone can point me to a solution I would be very grateful.
After exporting my edited Final Cut Pro movies (Which are displayed correctly in 16.9 widescreen) through QuickTime conversion all my films are displayed in squared 4.3 with ugly letter boxing left and right of frame.
Can someone tell me why QT 7 does not play a movie in it's correct and intended viewing ratio and if there is a magic trick to diplay my movies properly please?
I am willing to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if this is the only solution available!!!!
Happy New Year to you all.
    P.S. I'm using the following:
Sony HDV Z1 Camcorder (True widescreen 16.9) Squeeze mode
Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro HD 4.5
    QuickTime Version 7.6.4

QT 7 utilizes the "Current Size" attribute to display a file in its proper aspect. Thus, if you want an anamorphic file to display properly in both QT 7 and QT X, you must ensure the file is embedded with both the anamorphic flag/values (for iMovie '08, '09, '11, QT X, etc.) and the "Current Size" value (for QT 7, iTunes, GarageBand, etc.)
I am willing to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if this is the only solution available!!!!
QT 7 Pro would be the easiest way to re-scale the file for proper display in the QT 7 Player (and all other players that utilize the "Current Size" setting). Otherwise, the normal way to correct the problem would be to re-compress the the video. (Note that the reverse is not true. QT 7 Pro will not embed an anamorphic flag/value to make an improperly displayed file in QT X display properly.)
After exporting my edited Final Cut Pro movies (Which are displayed correctly in 16.9 widescreen) through QuickTime conversion all my films are displayed in squared 4.3 with ugly letter boxing left and right of frame.
Since you do not provide any specific import-export information, I suspect you are editing in an anamorphic compression format that loses the embedded flag/value during export. When this happens, the file is assumed to be in a 4:3 aspect and the "Current Size" attribute is automatically set for 4:3 display dimensions.

  • Quicktime controller not displaying on website

Hello all. Usually I don't want the QT controller to show up on the video I have on my website. I want viewers to watch the short clips complete without messing around them. So I did something (who knows what) to ensure that the controller would not show or that viewers could download (Kiosk mode I think).
I have now added a client only section to the site where I want to add the controller back so that clients can review work and make edit notes, etc. For this they need to be able to pause, rewind, etc. I can't for the life of me figure out how I get the controller to show back up. All the trues, falses, etc.
The video is encoded as h.264. The player shows up when played native from the desktop in the Quicktime Player - just not when it's on the website.
Many, many thanks for any help.

When you're running off your computer, the controller is part of the application you are using, Quicktime.
When someone hits a movie file on a web site, there are many different ways it can be displayed or controlled, all determined by the settings of the code that enables the movie file to appear on the page.
If you are designing the page, you will see an option for movie objects: control true or false or yes or no.

  • Quicktime movie not displaying properly

    Hi,
Can anyone help?, I have inserted an mpg into a page using
the "plugin" symbol (is this correct?), and although it displays
correctly when i preview in browser, after i upload it to my server
and click on the link, it goes to the page, hangs there for a
while, and then displays a black vertical strip with numbers and
    symbols in it?.
Is this likley to be a server prob or do i need to do
    something with the file itself?
If anyone would be kind enough to help, then this is the

yeah, this kinda *****... since there's no MMS, not being able to play QUICKTIME movies sent to my email on iphone is a real pain in the ***, plus it just does not make much sense.

  • Manual advance quicktime export not working

new to keynote, trying to export an interactive high quality quicktime, but manual advance is not working once it exports. I have lots of embedded video files that won't advance once clicked on either. Not sure if they are the problem. Any thoughts on how I can export a quicktime that I can manually click through?? Thanks for any help you can offer.

    HA!
That's a great one to play at Parties!!
BTW - that's a great way to do one-offs of sections you want to send out. HOWEVER - a problem there too - if you have a CLIP selected, FCP won't know if you are exporting that cut or the in/out point. Make sure everything is DE-selected. You'll notice a color shift in the timeline indicating the IN/OUT area when you are good to go.
Glad you fixed, now GET BACK TO WORK!

  • Quicktime Export Not Finishing in FCE HD 3.0

I'm trying to use the simple File>Export>QuickTime Movie command in FCE HD 3.0 and after the progress bar reaches 100%, it just sits there. Worse, something keeps happening under the hood as the new QuickTime file size just keeps growing and growing. My current project uses roughly 25 Gb of source video and I canceled the supposedly 100% complete export after the target file topped 100 Gb.
Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks for the ideas.
I tried the renderings, but both were unnecessary as Auto Render had already taken care of it.
I have no reason for self-contained or not, but the problem is identical either way. As an example, I just tried to do a 5 second excerpt (not self-contained) and after 1-2 minutes of being "100% complete", the target file had already grown to 17 Gb (and counting) before I clicked cancel.
    Project details...
Sequence Settings: Frame rate and resolution at 100%, 1 video track, 4 audio tracks (mixdown to stereo); mostly video, some text, no effects other than cross-dissolves and cross-fades
Clip properties: 29.97 fps, 720x480, DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, 3.6 Mb/sec, NTSC-CCIR601 pixel aspect (Originally recorded as QuickTime movie)
    Mac details...
Mac Pro (MacPro4,1); 8 Gb RAM; Quad-Core Intel Xeon (2.66 GHz)
Hard drive: 639.79 Gb capacity; 517.56 Gb available
Ultimately, I'm betting you're right about Snow Leopard. I just upgraded computers a few months ago, in the middle of a (different) large project and was hoping to complete that one before upgrading to FCE 4 or maybe even Pro. Especially since every other aspect of FCE HD 3.0 was working fine...
If anyone else has other ideas, I'm eager to explore them.
    Thanks.

  • Quicktime export not available for Windows 8?

    Hello,
I have imported .mov footage from my Canon 60D into a Premiere project and edited it on the timeline. It plays fine in Premiere. I would like to export it in the same format. I go File -> Export -> Media and in the format dropdown "Quicktime" or "MOV" are not available.
I tried installing Quicktime from the Apple site, it didn't affect the export setting in Premiere. The version of Quicktime I installed was an x86 for Windows 7 version, I could not find a 64bit or Windows 8 version.
I am on Windows 8 64 bit with CS6 Master Collection.
Does anyone know how I get Quicktime into my export format options?

You're honestly better off not using QT.
What is the basis and  foundation of this comment ?
(apart from personal bias of course)
We have never had any issues in using QT in a cross platform, cross facilty workflow.
    My peers and colleagues agree.
Thing is Jim..if one works within a cross platform, cross facilty workflow...one often runs into QT. eg Uncompressed .mov (8, 10, 16 bit)  required. Not AVI or H264!.
They wont change setups based on Jim Simons humble opinion on all things Apple.

  • Netapp System Manager - Exports not displaying

Hi All, I am completely new to the Netapp world. It was dropped on me yesterday to create and NFS export. No big deal it seemed easy enough. Was having some issues with the security permissions for a Linux host and when I was working on that I lost the display of my exports in Netapp System Manager. It allows me to go a head and create an export through system manager but nothing new shows up in the GUI or cli.

  • Keynote html export not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer

I exported a Keynote presentation to html, uploaded it to my server, and only half of the slide shows in Internet Explorer. Every other browser displays the presenation just fine. Any ideas how to correct the Explorer error?

Hello! I have a real fix to this issue.
Open the the player.js file and find the o an u varibles and hard code a resolution, I chose 1280x1024. Choose anything you want it will all work. There's some issue with the varibles that are being passed because as soon as you hard code a resolution it works across the board... All browsers are good.
    o=document.viewport.getWidth();
    u=document.viewport.getHeight();
are the varibles that you must change... I changed mine to:
    o=1280;
    u=1024;
and it worked like a charm.
    Cheers!

  • Masked QuickTime movies not displaying correctly...

    Hi there,
I'm still a relative novice with Keynote, but am quickly learning that this is a seriously great application! I haven't encountered any real problems so far, except the one I'm about to describe - and I'd really appreciate any help you could give me with it!
Basically, I've made a masked QuickTime movie in the shape of a circle (as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=QuickTime+Player/7.0/en/c3qt18.html) and then placed this onto one of my slides in Keynote. In the slide design view everything looks fine; the the movie is visible as a circular poster frame (and even plays as it should using the controls in the QuickTime inspector panel). However, when I go to "play" my slide it displays the movie as a rectangle. Obviously, the masking is somehow getting lost somewhere.
Is this a bug with Keynote, or am I just missing something?!
    Many thanks in advance.

the way my presentation is organised requires the movie to move in and out of the slide
The final effect you want might still be doable, as long as you don't think of the builds as having to take place on the same slide. If I understand what you mean by the movie moving in and out of the slide, you could have the opening still from the movie as an image, masked to the shape you want, move in on one slide, then undetectably transition to the slide with the cutout and movie underneath, then, when the movie is done, transition to a new slide with the final movie image as a still, again masked to the same shape, and have this move out. It would take three slides instead of one, but you should be able to achieve the end result you want.

  • Quicktime export contains random grey frames

Lately, doing a straight Quicktime export (not Quicktime conversion) is resulting in movies with random grey frames in them, lasting about 12 frames or so each. This is HD footage, shot on the Panasonic DVX-100. This only seems to happen when exporting certain sequences, but I haven't been able to establish a pattern as to why it's happening on certain exports but not on others. It's all footage shot, ingested, and edited on sequences with the same exact settings.
It's only been happening since upgrading to QT 7.5, but the other computer in the office also upgraded, and it hasn't encountered this problem, and can export the same sequences I'm having problems with just fine.
Has anyone else experienced this, or offer a solution?

for the record this was not my first post, I forgot my account info. I'm normally very nice but studio x was just puffing his chest and belittling a good question
This is a Final Cut issue. If it were only a drive/scsi issue the errors would also be there in the animation codec as well. The bad frames ONLY occur when doing a quicktime export [DVCPRO HD 720](referenced, render all frames, and self contained). I'm not dismissing the fact that there very well may be a drive causing problems (G-SPEED XL12).
The bad frames do not occur any other time. I render plenty of things in the exact same codec over the network to the raid from AE and Motion and never ever have a problem.
One thing I am doing differently now is long form projects. The projects having issues are a one hour show and a two hour+ show. I don't have this problem with commercials or other small packages. It also doesn't matter if it's a random 10 sec section exported or the whole program.
This is what I'm working with:
    HVX200 and other mixed footage
FCP and QT last updated in early july (no internet connection)
    G-SPEED XL12
Fibre channel to one station that also acts as a file server
gigabit to one station from the file server
trunked gigabit to another station from the server (seperate NIC)
All three stations exhibit the same problem including the station connected via Fibre Channel
Other people are having the same problem as I've found by searching. The earliest report of this specific issue I've found so far was stated around Jan of this year. But there are more reports from this summer.
