My Quicktime Mp4 Video Archive is Converting into Sound Files
I archived a number of videos using quicktime, in mp4 format. I don't know if this was caused by a software update; but, these videos only play as sound files now. This has happened on quicktime videos stored independently on both of my Macs - so I don't think it is a problem with one of my computers.
I must not be the only one who has experienced this problem. Does anyone know what to do about it?

No Microsoft files listed in the settings "convert into PDF files"
Hi, I wanted to convert different Microsoft Office files, but it doesn't work. There are no Microsoft files listed in the settings "convert into PDF files". I had the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on a MAC in Windows that runs trough Parallels. Hope somebody can help. Thx

Yes, Parallels is a virtual machine on the top of MAC and I can see all files in the Windows Explorer. Also the ones I created on the MAC top with the Microsoft Office Software Word or Excel for MAC as well the ones I created earlier on a Windows PC.
Unfortunately there is no possibility to convert files into PDF format with a click on the right mouse. And Adobe also doesn't open Word documents because it doesn't support this format.
But nonetheless it wouldn't be a solution that I prefer to convert in adavance every single file in a PDF format. I need to create a PDF package from different formats.
I assume this issue has to do something with MAC or Parallels, because this function of the Adobe Versions Acrobat 8 Pro and XI Pro work well on a Windows PC. I just don't understand why there are no Microsoft Office file formats listed in the Adobe settings. This settings also can't be changed. I tried to find out but couldn't find any hint for this problem thus I'm a bit at a loss... Maybe you have another idea?

Here's some help on how to convert .WMA sound
files to MP3 sound files on a Mac. Hope it helps.
1. Open the .WMA sound file in Quicktime.
2. In the Quicktime menu tool bar, go to FILE and
select SAVE AS.
3. Save the .WMA sound file as a self-contained
movie .MOV file. Then create a folder on your desktop
to store the .MOV files that you created.
4. Open iTunes and create a new playlist by
going into FILE in the iTunes menu toolbar and
select NEW PLAYLIST. Then name your playlist.
5. From the folder created on the desktop,
drag the .MOV files into the specific playlist you
created in iTunes.
6. In the specific playlist you created in iTunes,
highlight the .MOV files with your mouse. Then go
to the iTunes menu toolbar and select ADVANCED.
7. In ADVANCED, select CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3**.
Then wait for the iTunes' "ding noise" to let you know the files
have been all converted.
**To have CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3
listed in ADVANCED:
(a) To have CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3 listed in
ADVANCED, go into iTUNES in the iTunes menu
toolbar and select PREFERENCES.
(b) In PREFERENCES, select the ADVANCED icon. In
the ADVANCED icon menu, click on IMPORTING.
(c) In the IMPORTING menu, go to the IMPORT USING line.
Now scroll down and select MP3 ENCODER. The click
on the OK button.
8. After the .MOV files have been converted to MP3 sound files,
erase the .MOV files listed in the specific playlist you created.
9. Take your mouse and click on the MUSIC icon in the LIBRARY section.
Now in the LIBRARY section, search for the converted files.
Once the converted files are found, be sure to highlight one at
a time-- you'll be making sure which ones are mp3s and which are not.
10. Once a converted file is highlighted, go into FILE in the iTunes
menu toolbar. Click on GET INFO and check which files are
.MOV or MP3 files. Delete each .MOV file found.
11. Now you're left with the converted MP3 files in the LIBRARY.
Highlight and drag all the converted MP3 files from the LIBRARY to your
specific playlist you created. Now you're done! Enjoy your
new MP3s!There is no solution for playing and coverting DRM-protected WMA files on a Mac. I don't even know of a way to covert DRM-protected WMA files on a PC; you normally have to reimport them from the CDs, or when purchased from a download store burn them to an audio CD (where allowed).

Colors reversed in QuickTime MP4 videos.
Colors are fine if I open .mov files with QuickTime, or if I open MP4 files with DivX, but the colors are reversed if I open MP4 files (loaded from my Kodak camera to Kodak Easy Share on my PC) with Quicktime or Realplayer. Thanks for all your help, and I hope you aren't freezing down there in Christchurch! I have a couple of online friends in NZ now (discovered when I was watching the lost Emperor Penguin "Happy Feet" last year) and they recently sent me a link to a YouTube video of the KiwiRail train plowing snow in Arthur's Pass. Looked like the kind of snow we get here in Michigan, but, of course, not in June, and we don't have mountains. Right now, we're roasting in 90-degree F temperatures.
Anyway, my attempt to bring in the videos on my 93-year-old father's computer was frustrating, but it isn't the type of problem you (or anyone) can solve. First, I arrived at Dad's house and grabbed his camera, only to discover that he had given up on ever being able to transfer the videos to his PC and had deleted them all! :-(( Then I waited while QuickTime downloaded, but soon realized that it was only updating QT 6, not installing QT 7, so I had to start over. By then, we had discovered that Dad has some other program (I can't recall the name of it) that would open the MP4 videos, but he wanted QT because he likes being able to cut off the beginning and end of the video to pare it down to the parts he wants. After I had downloaded and installed QT 7, I was horrified to find that this version will not do that kind of editing unless we buy the Pro edition, which Dad isn't going to do. So I had downloaded a version of QT that he doesn't need and that actually does LESS than he could do before. He kept begging me to find a way to retrieve the old version of QT, but I don't think it can be done. I think we're stuck with the new one. That's disappointing because many of our videos are of animals, and that usually involves a lot of dull time on the video before and after the animal does something interesting.
Not real happy with Apple right now. :-( But thanks for all the guidance anyway. Take care and stay warm! -

Yes, exactly (in fact I had that page on the Help Viewer open while I did it just in case I had skipped a step). Plus some other ways (like converting the clips to other formats, etc)
But I have made the video by using QuickTime Pro, by stitching the clips together. It isn't anything like I want but I can move on now and contemplate other ways to make this work (unless you or somebody else comes up with something!).

MPEG streamclip compression types - converting into avi files to burn into DVDs later. HELP!!!!
I've made a movie on my iMovie '08 and export it and now I want to convert it to avi because I want to burn it into DVDs. I didn't use the 'export using quicktime' option on iMovie because there's this error occuring (error code = -43) and I don't know why! Anyhow, I'm using MPEG streamclip, and I'm so confused with the compression windows? What should I choose if I want the DVDs to be played on TV? Apple Photo - JPEG doesn't sound right. And the frame size thingy too. I also dragged the quality into 100% so that it would turn out good. PLEASE HELP ME! I really don't understand technical stuff like this Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Links from RoboHelp don't convert into PDF file when "printing to PDF"
I need to output my webhelp file to an Adobe PDF. However, my
links are not converting UNLESS I put in part of the code. mailto:
links will work if there is a visible @xxxxx on the screen.
Regardless of the background code, if I don't have the @xxxx
visible on the page, the link will not work. The "hand" will not
turn into a "pointing finger" in the PDF file.
I've looked at the settings, and am beating my head against
the wall! This is a manual that will be published to a PDF on a
weekly basis, so redoing all the links in Adobe is not a solution!
I need my links to other parts of the manual, URLs and email links
to work as the do in the RH side. All suggestions welcomed!

Hyperlinks followed by spaces causes underlining them when converted into PPTX file

when http://drifted.in/other/acrobat_slides.pdf file is converted in Acrobat XI (Windows 7) into PPTX http://drifted.in/other/acrobat_slides.pptx, there are all space characters after hyperlinks underlined. I cannot get rid of it even when inserting the zero-width or hair space immediately after the link in the original document. Is there any workaround for this?
Thanks, JanI got similar results in AA XI. However, I ran preflight and it gave at least 2 error in the PDF. I had also tried to save it to WORD from AA 8 and got syntax errors -- leading me to the preflight check. It may simply be that the PDF is improperly formed. All I can suggest is to try to print without the links and add them in Acrobat or PPT and see if you can home in on the problem.
