My ratings have "disappeared"
I made a second library for about 5000 photos (CR2) that I took on a trip, which lives on a networked hard drive. I applied ratings and keywords to about half of the images; but since upgrading to Lion and Aperture 3.2, I cannot see any of the ratings or keywords, and I cannot filter my images with them. ( so that if I select 3 stars or better, no images are displayed ).
I can apply and use new ratings, but of course I would really like to try and get my previous work back.
Two things are really bizarre: if I open the same library in Aperture, with an iMac on the same network, then the ratings are visible!
Secondly if I open my main Aperture library with the first computer, I can see ratings on those images. So I think it must not be related to my preferences or viewer settings.
So for some reason I cannot see the ratings in one specific library using one specific computer. If anyone can shed some light on this and help me get my ratings working again I would be most grateful!
Can you explain a little what you mean by "not see the ratings"? Are they not displayed in the in the Browser, or are the images shown as unrated in the Library inspector ?
Don't you see ratings here, with the Metadata Inspector set to "General" or are they wrong?
Can you post a screenshot of what you see in the Browser, with the ratings missing? Do you see other Metadata overlays in the Browser, like keywords?
And did you check the settings for Browser and Viewer, if Rating really is activated? These are set by going to the "Edit "entry of the Metadata overlay drop down menu:

Aperture Star/reject ratings have disappeared from pictures and thumbnails.
After several trouble-free months my star ratings and/or reject crosses have disappeared from the pictures and thumbnails, however the stars can still be seen in the appropriate metadata display. I can still add or delete stars from the metadata. Have I accidentally blanked the display?
T5G5do any adjustment badges display on the thumbs ??? chances are you accidentally turned off the display badges option ...
in the manual pages 231 and 243 may be of particular interest ... it deals with metadata overlays and badges ...
keyboard shortcuts 'Y' and 'U' will hide the metadata overlays for viewer and browser views ...

Trying to sharpen an entire album at once + Ratings have disappeared
I'm trying to sharpen an entire album at once (just to apply the basic Edge sharpening values, as all my RAW files look pretty soft, but I don't want to sharpen each individually).
I've followed the instructions here: http://chuqui.typepad.com/imagingreality/usingaperture/index.html
and while it works okay, it leaves me with a problem that it creates a new sharpened Version of each image, which sits underneath the Master. So in each Stack, the unsharpened master is the Pick and not the sharpened version.
Obviously, I don't want to go through each image and select the version to be the pick.
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there an easy way to set the versions to be the Picks and not the masters, or is my workflow just plain wrong?
On an even more newbie-ish note, in the grid view browser, thumbnails are no longer displayed with their ratings, so I can't filter out higer rated images. I expect that there's an easy way to bring this back, but I've searched the manual without success.

Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2GB RAMAperture never promotes a version to the stack pick automatically. IMO this should be a preference setting (and I'd set it to Promote Adjusted Version).
so, after stamping all your images, and any other adjustments, you'll need to troll through and promote.
The fastest way I found is to use the keyboard ..... no, you can't lift/stamp or batch change. ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
OK, here's what I did/do:
Reduce thumbnails in the project viewer to a reasonably small size (sufficient so you can determine the master filename from the version name).
Press "V" to remove the selected image from being viewed.
From the menu, Stacks, Expand all stacks
Click the first image.
Press <Apple> and left square parenthesis (promote).

Can't rate photos in Bridge - options seem to have disappeared and Bridge is not responsive?
When I'm going through my photos to begin culling, I can't seem to rate any of my pictures.. I don't know how or why this has happened because I could do this a few days ago. When I use the hotkeys to rate photos now nothing happens, and even the Ratings filter option seems to have disappeared. I've purged the cache from the folders and nothing seems to help. I'm using OS X Mavericks and the latest update on Bridge.
I'm in the same boat. I used the same computer to rate some of the photos and after a repair and complete re-install I can't rate anything anymore.

Text Wrap Options have Disappeared ID CS4
All the icons in my Text Wrap window have disappeared. The tab/pallet is still there, but empty. The pop out still lists “Show Options” and “Apply to Master Page Only” are still there, but grayed out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

In the latest verision of ITunes (downloaded yesterday) I can no longer see how large (in GB's) my music library or playlists are. This is a very valuable function and it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know where it is?
Go to the View menu and turn on the Status Bar. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes. All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone. I am unable to locate them on my computer. HELP!!!
OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this. -
All of my instrument loops from Garage band '09 have disappeared. What do I do?
All of the insturment loops I have been using have disappeared. They don't show up in new projects, nor are they accessible in old ones that were created using the loops. I have tried to locate the loops on the HD as others have posted but they are not there. They only loops that exist there are the FX loops which I have access to. Why has this happened and what can I do? Using an iMac if that makes a difference. Also, I suspect that a software update may have been conducted recently, so this might suggest where the problem started. Can I check if one indeed has? (I'm not the only user of the computer).
Well we need a lot more information
like what version of iPhoto and of the OS? What recently changed? do you have a backup?
If you depress and hold the opeion key and launch iPhoto do you see multiple libraries in the select library window that results? If you do check each one

I clicked on Re-Index apple loops user library, and all my loops disappeared. I went on garageband and re indexed them again there, but not all of my loops have appeared.
I've reindexed spotlight, I've re installed Logic, but they're still not there. Why? 130 pounds isn't cheap for software that doesn't work...
Oh and also some of the instruments have disappeared.

I get error message: "An error occurred with the publication of album...Authentication with server failed. Please check your login and password information" whenever I open a facebook file in my iPhoto. In each file, most of my photos have disappeared. I am hoping I can retrieve these "lost" files. I just downloaded Yosemite and all my iPhotos have disappeared! I tried importing them from the photo library but it said there wasn't enough space on my hard drive which is rubbish, because they were there before. How do I get them back to iPhoto?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have. -

If you have a backup of your computer from before you upgraded then you can restore the data from your backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553

--- If you don't have a backup, consider starting one following the article above ASAP. Anyone with information they care about on their computer should have a backup. It is a hard lesson that every computer user learns at least once.
If you do not have a backup from before you upgraded:
1. Make an iCal backup so you don't lose what you have currently: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove all files and folders that start with this phrase)
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove all files and folders that start with this phrase.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
---NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion:
4. Open iCal and see if the events you are looking for magically reappear.
If the events don't appear and you don't have a backup or have the events on another device like an iPhone or iPad then your only other option would be to use data recovery software or a data recovery company to try to get the data back (although it might be easier to just re-create the data as best you can).

The webpage icons database may be corrupted as a result of the upgrade.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Safari/WebpageIcons.db
Click Go then move the WebpageIcons.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
It may take up to a day for your webpage icons to re populate. -
