My raw images download as 2 photos

When I download my raw images into iphoto 6, I end up with twice as many photos as it converts one and leaves one raw. Is it possible to have these go into different files automatically? Editing has suddently become such a big job!!!

You probably have your camera set to save JPEG + RAW, which saves a JPEG and Raw for each shot. If you set to RAW only it will eliminate the extra file.

Raw Image Download

The Raw Image format from my Canon D7 are not recognised by Elements 6, although they are from my Canon D10, D30 and G10. Canon brush me off by telling me to contact Adobe. Can anyone please advise this 76 y.o. dinosaur of a solution? I certainly do not wish to migrate to the Canon Images software that comes with the purchsase. Many Thanks, AB

If you mean the Canon EOS 7D, then you'll have to update the Adobe Camera Raw plugin to version 5.6:

RAW Images and Photo Books

Anybody tried using RAW images to build a photo book? I shoot my pics in combined RAW/jpeg formats - the jpegs are low res, so I would prefer to use the higher quality RAW images in making my book. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can’t.
RAW is a total sensor dump from the camera. The only thing you can do is process your RAW into good quality jpegs (or tiff or whatever) and use those. You cant even Print a RAW.\
When you import a RAW to iPhoto the app automatically creates a JPEG preview of the File. That makes the whole RAW+jpeg shooting rather pointless.

Canon 50D raw images seem to get shifted pink

I got a Canon 50D the day it came out. Realized there was no support for the raw files so I shot RAW+JPEG.
When it was finally posted, I installed the raw update and now Apeture (& Preview!) read the image but heavily shift the color towards pink. This is not the case with the originally saved jpegs nor when viewing the raw images with Canons "Digital Photo Professional".
It looks like the red/blue channels are being offset and the impact is worse the longer the exposure(!).
Any thoughts?

Upon initial import, image thumbnails look fine, then when you go to look at an image full size, it takes a couple of seconds to process (no histogram in the HUD for instance) then the second it's loaded, bam it turns pink.
Inspecting the histogram, the red and blue records are noticeably shifted right and the problem is markedly worse on long exposures.

How can I get my Nikon D3x raw images to download into the organizer of Elements 6.0

I recently purchased a Nikon D3x and have been unable to view my raw images in Elements 6.0. I have downloaded the Raw 5.4 update. When that did not work, i uninstalled Elements and the 5.4 update and reinstalled them again. I am able to download the raw photos into the Elements Downloader, but once the photos go to the organizer, i get the screen saying that "the file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included". According to the Adobe Tech Support Dept., Elements 6.0 is able to support the Nikon D3x, with the Raw 5.4 update. Has anyone else run into this problem and have a solution?

I am talking about the File Formats folder that gets created when you install PSE. You have obviously been to that folder already because you said you installed Adobe Camera Raw 5.4. Go to that folder in Windows, and make sure that the old plug-in (which was named CameraRaw.8bi, but may have been renamed by you) is deleted from that folder (not renamed, not moved to a subfolder). Then, following the instructions are on the page where you downloaded Camera Raw 5.4, install the new plug-in.

How do I download raw images into photoshop elements 11.

I am having difficulty downloading my raw images to photoshop elements 11. Files are currently on a thumb drive, but I don't know how to download to elements. I have the thumb drive plugged in --- not sure where to go from here. I have verified that I have the plug in - version 7.1.0.354.
Any ideas?

You can either drag them in Organizer workspace or import the folder. Or you can also use Adobe Photo Downloader. There are many options listed here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/getting-started/import-camera-or-card-reader.htm l

Why won't my Raw images open or download properly?

I have a Canon Rebel. I am using Mac OS X Lion. When I download my Raw images onto my computer, they are just black squares where the pictures should be. I have tried in Lightroom 3, Lightroom 4, and iPhoto. All the same thing....

I used an USB cable that connects to my camera to upload the photos straight into Lightroom. I also tried using this to upload straight to iPhoto. I have the newest version of iPhoto, but maybe it still doesn't work? But Lightroom definitely should...
I don't have a card reader but I guess if that's the only solution I would definitely get one... I was just hoping someone had a different solution. Thanks!

Downloading raw images from Canon Rebel XTi and problem with Border FX

Aperture no longer downloads raw images from my Canon 400D / Rebel Xti and installed Lexar Professional UDMA card. I am able to download images to my Dell laptop. This is a new phenomenon only occurring since about 10 days ago. I am currently able to download images from my Canon 5D.
Also, my computer has locked up 4 times today when I have been starting Border FX. I have seen a screen saying that I have to restart my computer by holding down the on button. I have the most recent version of the Border FX software.
Any suggestions please?

Join the crowd! I just started to experience exactly the same thing on both of my systems. Apparently the latest raw camera drivers broke something related to Canon Rebel cameras. I'm using the Rebel XT.
I tried a quick experiment the other day. I shot a bunch of test photos forcing the camera to store them as JPEGs. I was able to download those without a problem. I then forced the camera back to raw mode and shot a few more pictures on the same memory card. The JPEGs that I was able to download previously no longer will download and neither will the raw files.
I tried reverting to the older camera raw driver on my notebook but for some reason it won't let me do that. I haven't tried reverting on the desktop yet.
Hopefully this problem is fixed quickly. I've got a ton of pictures from a recent vacation I'd like to off load.
By the way, this affects the iPhoto, Aperture and Image Capture apps.

Raw images not Photo Streaming to Aperture

When I use the camera adapter to download from my SD card to my iPad both the raw and jpeg download. When the images are put onto Photo Stream only the jpeg makes it to Aperture on my iMac.

Photostream doesn't claim to work with all RAW images, the problem is that each manufacturer uses a proprietary RAW format, it would be difficult to keep up with all of them.

I-Photo 6 Olympus RAW Images

I just purchased an Olympus E-Volt 500 SLR Digital camera. I am currently running I-Photo 5 and it will not support the RAW (.orf) images from my camera. I am considering upgrading to I-Photo 6 but need to know if it will import the RAW images. Does anyone have an answer to that or does Apple?

I have an E-300 (the Evolt name is not used here) which uses the .orf RAW file format. One of the benefits of upgrading to iLife 6 is that iPhoto 6 now supports the format. I am surprised you can't use it - I would have thought the .orf format was the same irrespective of which Olympus D-SLR it was generated in. Might be worth asking Olympus - for instance I downloaded an upgrade from the Olympus website (http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer/208_495.htm) to enable PS Elements 3 to read the orf. file.

But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. What happened and is there a fix? I tried uninstalling Lightroom and re-installing, but problem persists.

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database
