My Razr maxx will not boot.  Help

My phone worked this morning, then I shut it down to charge it with the automotive charger from Motorola.  I tried to start it and nothing happened.  I have read all of the posts about holding down the power and the - (minus) volume button and also the + (plus) volume button and nothing  happens.  I then tried to plug it not the wall socket and nothing happens, I do not  even get a sustained white light.  It flickers when I plug it in then goes off.  I have an old Razr Maxx and it will boot up but will not import my contacts from the SD card.  Help

If there on your SD card they can be Save when you Pull the Card but when you install it in your Replacement Razr don't format the card or they'll be Gone and i just remembered if you have a SD Card adapter you can put your micro in it and then put the Adapter in your Computer and get your Pictures i have done this in the past. Sorry your Maxx didn't come around and Good Luck on the Next one. Let me Know how it's Working when you get it.. b

  • Ugh/ kernal panics / apple hardware test will not boot / help

so my first thought is to replace all my memory and I even have some coming via OWC -- but it seems silly just to replace memory on a hunch and randomly. So I run rember and get an all cler on all my memory. Can this really be soo? So I think - try the Apple Hardware Test.
I hold down c key as 'puter is booting and I get command line screen that says
    "invalid memory ascess at %srr0:ae0c0108
    %srr1: 0c01086F
    bad bus info crc-16"
than it tells me to type in mac-boot to boot --but it will not boot - the next screen just says command line ok
    what should I do next
this machine has been acting up for over 6 months and its driving me nuts -- I bought the memory as a "quick fix" but now I am starting to have my doubts. It would be cool to know before I decide to install it so I can return it for my $ if my hunch is wrong --
    help! and thanks!

I can give you some general advice about buying memory:
The question then becomes what if memtest passes it all... I couldn't complete the cloning of about 220 GB of files from one drive to another with the original MacWarehouse chips in place, but could when they were removed.
I have had quite a bit of experience testing memory, most of it grey market stuff that I salvage from trash cans and such like place. I have found some memory that worked perfectly and never gave me any problems. I have found some memory that gave me kernel panics. I have found some memory that are somewheres in between: they seem fine at first, and then when you start to run lots of apps or copy large files that's when the problems shows up, and the problems are subtle -- once in a while a task would randomly crash, but restarting the task would make it OK, etc., etc.
I've had a PC133 stick that repeatedly tested and passed on memtest until the 4th pass, then an error showed. After the error showed, there were lots of errors.
For my own use, I do not use any memory that fails memtest at all, since I am swimming in memory anyway. I usually test them overnight. Certainly when buying new memory I expect them not to fail memtest when run overnight (usually about 6-7 passes).
I'll use memory that fail occasionally in client stations that are not function critical, but my experience has been once you get some error in a memory chip, it gets worse with time.
I want to avoid if possible having the machine down for hours at a time to run memtest in Single User mode as it's serving up genealogy databases on 4 different domains, as well as static pages on 8 other domains as well as being my every day work-a-Mac.
If you're serious about hosting those domains, I suggest you buy a Mac Mini for your clientstation and let the server be the server.
sending CL3 chips maybe the Apple Hardware Test is expecting to see CL2.5 which is what the 3 chips I have to do work are.
CL3-PC3200 chips can pinch hit for CL2.5-PC2700 chips in some limited circumstances, but they were sending you CL3-PC2700 chips in place of CL2.5-PC2700 chips. I smell herring.
or are they really not the chips the label says they are?
Chips are sometimes mislabeled, due to operator error.

  • Ibook will not boot HELP!!!!

    Hi,
First the ibook booted then would come up with the kernel error: square box with "you need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button......
I then booted to single user mode and ran fsck -y which eventually came up with the all clear "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK"
I then restarted the system which booted to the blue screen with some quirky graphics towards the top. It will now not boot into single user mode, just black screen or multi-coloured stripy screen. When booting from the CD drive the sceen is just blue or black.
Has anyone any ideas what this could be

You are having kernel panics as shown in this Apple doc.#106227.
Do everything, in order, in Dr.Smokes Resolving Kernel Panics and don't leave out any steps.
Quote from Dr.Smoke "My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, following the instruction in the order specified, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein"
    Here's more at a brody's KP site.
To get things going, try things in Apple doc.#106464.

  • Iphone 3g will not boot. help needed!!!

the phone was working and then i tried restoring it when my desktop lost power half way through. it now remains in the connect to itunes state even with trying the hold home and key lock operations. i have tried all the troubleshooting options from apples website with no success.
    also i have tried restoring agian but the process is as follows;
    1) itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode, it needs to be restored before use.( after clicking buttons the restore process is started )
    2) half way through itunes says it is restoring the software the phone shuts down into recovery mode.
    3) itunes pops up a window saying "the iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (14)."
i have been trying to fix this problem for like 23 hours straight as i have just bought the phone. assistance on this would be more than appreciated.

I have had this issue before, the iPhone will hang with the apple logo up indefinitely. I lost patience around 20 minutes. The way I got past this was to hold the power/home button at the same time until the phone powered off, and then retried, repeating around the 7 minute mark until it booted successfully. It has taken 3-4 tries at times, but has always started. This has happened about 3 times now since I upgraded the day it was released.
Also, when it does finally start, I've gotten the "iPhone is activated" popup, and had trouble using apps (closing immediately after splash screen) and certain songs. Seems like it's some sort of DRM credential issue. I downloaded a free app to the phone, and they all began working again, even once the app was deleted. However, if I end up with the boot process stalling and the whole iPhone is activated popup again, I'm back to square one. I also got the songs I couldn't play to play, but I am not sure what specifically it was that fixed that.
I am running 3.1 on a 3G, which I upgraded from the latest 2.x release.

  • K8T Neo will not boot - Help!

I purchased an AMD64/MSI bundle that refuses to work. I did return the bundle to Komplett but they say it checked out 100% and returned it. Reading threads I can see certain PSU's or RAM could cause problems.
I have detailed the kit below but when I assemble the complete kit and power it on, I hear the HD spin but that’s it. The monitor stays in standby. The 4 lights on MSI “D-Link” are all red & the lights on my keyboard keep flashing. I also tried just connecting absolute minimum items as per FAQ to see if that nailed the problem but is the same result every time. The PSU is a fairly decent Enermax model. The RAM came part of the bundle and works in other machines (anyway Komplett checked it out). The only thing I can think of is that the OS is on a 120GB IDE HD and I also have a 250GB SATA backup drive. This is the 3rd system I have built. Can anyone point me where I could be going wrong as it seems a waste of money with this great bit of kit just sitting in a cardboard box!
    KIT:
    (forgot PSU) Enermax EG651P 650Watt

RAM Crosair Value PC3200 512 (plus 2 more sticks of 256MB)
    Maxor ATA 120GB

  • Help!  My iPod touch 2G will not boot up!

My iPod touch 2G will not boot.
Heres the specs of the problem:
It turns on with an Apple logo with a spinning wheel under it.
I have tried editing the hosts file with the Apple server codes.
I have tried restoring 16 times. (I log what I do on it)
The iPod has never been jailbroken.
    It is an MC model.
    It is 8GB.
Its formated for Windows. (Windows 7)
    iTunes 10.4
I have tried "The Tiny Umbrella TSS Server with SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1"
    I tried "RecBoot" no luck.
My Mom will kill me if I can't fix this.  I am going on a 9 hour vacation ride with 7 year old brothers that get really cranky.  I leave August 6th, 2011.  So I need to have it fixed before then. So i really, really, really need help!

Try uninstalling iTunes and installing the 10.4 iTunes that came out a few days ago.  Click start, run and paste "%Userprofile%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" without quotes.  Find iPod2,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw and delete it.  Try restoring again and Tiny Umbrella is only for iPhones.  Do not use it on iPod Touch or various errors appear.  iPod Touches can downgrade at any time (idk about iOS 5).  If it doesn't work, reply.  :)

  • Help needed on startup. My computer will not boot from the CD drive!!!

Problem with iMac G3 333, the Message on the screen states: "The System Software on the starup disk only functions on the media, not if copied to another drive." Like a fool, I copied the system folder from the original system software 9.2.2 on to the iMac. System disk which is not a complete system folder when used on the computer. I have searched the Internet, but can not find an answer. I have tried everything, holding down the C key, "Delete, Opition, Apple key, shift" holding the mouse down on startup, various combinations of other keys, etc. The CD starts to spin, but the computer switches to the hard drive and the message above returns. No matter what I try I still can't boot from the tray loading CD drive. Is there any Firmware code that I can use. I know how to access Firmware on the Imac and can boot the iMac using Firmware, but I don't know how to use Firmware to boot the CD drive which I need to do so I can reload the original software. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP? Thanks, Jim

Yes, I have tried both System Softwares a number of times. The C key will not boot up the CD drive and the harddrive always boots with the original message. I need to get the CD drive to boot so I can reloaded tge original software. Do you know anything about booting the CD drive using Firmware? Jim

Sounds like you may have a harddrive issue.  You are probably going to need to get that changed out and then install the OS X again to get it going.

If you want to solve your problems, unjailbreak. And don't do it again, because jailbreaking causes problems as you read about in that article. You can try Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Will not boot up , was instructed to web site for help

hello I have a notebook  Pavilion g7-131us that will not boot up . currently in the process of running self  testing , all tests passed so far

Hi motormike, thanks for the information. I have done some research and rather than give you a link to Microsoft I have just added the documentation on this here for you. This is all the instructions to hopefully resolve the issue right from Microsoft.
"To Fix this, follow the steps in method 1, it that doesn’t fix the issue, follow the steps in method 2.
Method 1: Use the Last Known Good Configuration to start Windows
When starting the PC using the Last Known Good Configuration, your computer starts with the conficuration from the last time your PC booted successfully. To do this, follow these steps:
Click the Start button, then click the arrow next to Shut Down, then click Restart.
As your computer starts, press and hold the F8 button. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration (advanced), and then press Enter. Windows will start normally.
If you still can't boot into Windows sucessfully, proceed to Method 2.
Method 2: Use the Startup Repair feature
Startup Repair can detect and fix certain types of system problems that might prevent Windows from starting.
To run Startup Repair using preinstalled recovery options:
Restart your computer using the PC's power button. Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter.
Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.
On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair, and then follow the on screen instructions.
To run Startup Repair using the Windows installation disc or a system repair disc:
Insert the Windows 7 or Windows Vista installation disc or a system repair disc, and then shut down your computer.
Restart your computer using the computer's power button.
If prompted, press any key and then follow the instructions that appear.
On the Install Windows page, or on the System Recovery Options page, choose your language and other preferences, and then click Next.
If you're using the Windows installation disc, click Repair your computer.
Select the Windows installation you want to repair, and then click Next.
On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair, and then follow the on screen instructions."
Please let me know if this does NOT resolve the issue and I will be happy to provide more assistance.
    Thank you.

  • Help! Computer turns on but then will not boot up - Please Help!

I have no idea what happened to my Apple. Someone please help me. My powerbook currently is running on no battery (recall victim) and now the entire computer is no longer functioning at all. I installed iTunes 7.0 and then the trouble began. I had to restart the computer, so I did that and then the computer just wont boot up. It goes to the grey screen which shows the Apple symbol and occurs right before my log in then just continues to read. The green light for the battery is function and nothing at all is working. The computer simply will not boot up, I have tried unplugging it for the night and then rebooting it and nothing. Please someone help, what has went wrong?

You mentioned in your other thread that you had trouble with a cpu(0) hardware error trying to use the hardware test disk. Is this the hardware test disk which came with that particular machine? If not, then you need to find the original hardware test disk that came with that machine. If the restore disks that say 12" Powerbook include the words hardware test, use those instead and follow these directions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86287
If you are using the correct hardware test disk and you get a cpu(0) error using it, then the machine has a hardware problem.

It may be time to take to apple for repair.

  • G4 powermac will not boot up nomally unless i boot up in safe mode help ?

My G4 power mac will not boot up when switched on itakes several re boots and somtimes crashes.
Will boot up in safe mode. but this only allows me to use some of the application software i need and not all of them.
Can anyone help I thought it could be the hardisk but why would it boot up in safe mode?

Boot from the Tiger installation disc 1 (hold down 'C' on startup). Don't touch the installer, go to the menu bar and select Disk Utility (I think it's in the Tools menu on Tiger).
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.). Run Repair Disk.
If problems are reported, run it again until the green message says the disc seems to be OK.
Quit DU, quit the installer and restart.
If DU says there are problems it can't fix, you may need DiskWarrior.
Either way, let us know the results please.
(PS; this is the Intel iMac forum - PPC are next door!)

Call AppleCare and request replacement discs. You can also Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC and see if those will fix things up. You updated to 10.6.8 w/o having a bootable backup/clone or Time Machine backup? Bad move, that.
