My real name is showing up on iTunes reviews.

I have a nickname set, and it shows up on my review within iTunes, but on the app's Web page it shows my real name. This has caused a problem with my employer. Now that Ping is gone, how do I fix it so my real name never appears with a review?
EDIT: I just checked iTunes using my work computer. The review on iTunes also is now showing my real name. When I checked iTunes from my iPad right after posting the review a couple days ago, it had my nickname on it.

Artist name not showing up in itunes

I just imported an album and the artist names didn't appear in itunes. So, I selected all the songs and added the artist names in the Get Info window. They still don't show in the list on itunes, but they do now show in the info windows of individual songs. Ideas? Here is how the artist names are listed: Frances Clark, Louise Goss, Sam Holland

Try this:
1. Select all of your songs, (click the first song then hold down shift and click the last song).
2. Once that is done right click the highlighted songs and click get info.
3. A message will pop up asking if you want to change info for multiple songs select yes.
4. Once your in this get info screen go to the album artist field and type in all of the artists in that field (make sure you put them in the order you want to see them listed in the itunes libary).
5. When your finished select ok and you're done!
(NOTE: *an easy way to see the album artist is by going to the top of the itunes window and you should see three buttons with the word view under them and select the middle button, now you can view all of your albums songs & artwork under the artwork should be the artists name(s).)

I've just released a new podcast to itunes through libsyn. When I go to itunes the podcast says it's by 'unknown' and the overall show description isn't on there. Here's the link:

Link not included. However, the Author entry (currently reading 'unknown') is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag in the feed; and the Description for the overall podcast is carried in the 'itunes:summary' tag, both in the top section of the feed between the 'channel' tag and the first 'item' tag.
As you're using Libsyn you will probably have to work out where in that you enter the details which appear in those tags (as I assume you won't be able to edit the feed itself), and I'm afraid I can't advise on that.

Getting artist name to show up in itunes

Hi, I put my new podcast and the artist search is not showing the podcast. I tried adding the keyword tag and still the artist name does not show up. Also, If i change website, how do I configure the previous submission to reflect the new site.

Real Name showing up with Aliases. Please help.

This is very odd, and so far I can't find any answers here, so I felt starting a new discussion might be the way to go.
First off, the obvious, because I know that will be everyone's first suggestion. My real name is NOT in the "Full Name" fields under the aliases, in the iCloud Preferences, under "Account".
The details. I signed up under dot.mac when it came out. This might have some bearing. Thus I have the "dual" ID's, mac.com and me.com. I also use Lion, and the latest iOS release.
Under Mac Mail (my laptop), when I choose the "from" options, this is what I see. I have 5 aliases (a carry over from mobileme), but I will only use two as example (the problem is with all aliases.

(Alias2) [email protected]
(Alias2) [email protected]
(Real Name) [email protected] (started as a .mac alias)

I don't know why my real name is showing up next to an alias as an option. When I send a laptop email with (Alias) alias@mac(me).com, my name is never shown in a reply. If I send (Real Name) alias@mac(me).com, I of course see my name in the reply.
Now, on my iPad and iPod, when in Mail, and I tap the from field to select an option, all of my aliases are there, with NO real names showing at all (that is, only one set, not two like my laptop). But this is where it gets strange.
When I send an iPod or iPad email from an alias, the sent mail always has my real name preceding my alias. Obviously, my anonimity is lost if I choose to send an iPod or iPad email with an alias.
I can't help but think there is some connection between my laptop Mac Mail showing 2 sets of aliases (with real name and without), and my iDevices sending
mail only with real name, and possibly a connection between my iCloud account and my seemingly still active mobileme account, that all mm users were given an extension on (note, in my laptop mail accounts there is only the iCloud account, not an additional mobileme one.
I have checked my Mac Mail accounts, and the iCloud Preferences>Accounts, as well as iCloud Preferences>Composing, and nothing seems out of order.
Ideally, the goal is to have:1) on my laptop Mail the one set...my aliases without name and my proper real name email, and 2) the ability to send an alias email with complete confidence that my real name will not be there with the alias.
I am very grateful for everybody's input. As I mentioned, I could not find any similar thread. Thank you.

OK, I found a work around.
On your iDevice,
1) GO TO: Settings
2) GO TO: Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3) GO TO: iCloud
4) GO TO: Account
5) GO TO: Advanced: Mail - You'll have to scroll down, the option is at the bottom, below the bottom edge of the screen.
6) GO TO: iCloud Account Information
7) REMOVE Any information in the NAME field
This will prevent your iDevice from sending the name in that field on ANY account (main or alias), all it will send is the email address you specified ([email protected], [email protected], etc)
Now, what you can try is:
8) GO TO: Contacts
9) CREATE: A new contact for each alias (assuming your main iCloud email is already associated with your own Contact file
10) ENTER the pseudonym of choice for your alias.
11) ENTER the corresponding alias
Try sending some test emails and see if the iDevice pulls the contact information. When I sent my test emails to my Gmail account, the web-based Gmail only had the email address. However, the iDevice Mail app associated the email with the contact card.
One downside to this, is that, especially with Gmail, your iCloud emails will end up going in to spam, so you may want to set expectations with your recipients.
You can also create multiple iCloud accounts, use your alias as your email BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR APPLEID for mail server authentication. You would then follow steps 1-6 above but enter the name you want associated with the alias email. The issue with this is you WILL get duplicate mail in your inbox and drain your battery needlessly.
Again, it is by no means an elegant solution, but its a far better cry than having multiple emails or jury-rig configurations.

My podcast is now live on itunes but I would like to change the name under the Podcast title from my real name to artist name. How can i do this?

Your name is normally carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and appears in smaller print above the title. You can change either this or the title itself in the same place in whatever program you are using to make your podcast and reupload the feed. You don't need to take any further action; the Store willn probably take a few days to update.
However, if you are going to change the title be careful: some podcast creatioin methods give the rss file a filename drawn from the title, and if you change the title it may change that. You can't have that happen because the Store will lose contact with the feed if its URL changes (there is a way round this which I will explain if you really need me to - do not proceed without checking on this). If your feed filename is something like rss.xml or feed.xml then there isn't a problem about the title.

Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

Why doesn't my GameCenter account show my real name?

When I go check my GC account, the profile page just shows my GC ID while my friends' accounts show their real name and their GC ID. Also, when I try to put "Invalid characters" in my ID, GC denies my change and forces me to cancel. For example "#00FF66" in considered to be invalid because of the "#" symbol. Others can use these characters, however, to add colors to their GC ID's. Does my account have a restriction or limitation?

Go into the iTunes store on your computer, and click Purchased, then make sure when your music comes up, filter it by "Not in my Library"

OT: Did you know you can change your profile to show your real name, rather than just your Adobe ID?

I realize this is off-topic for this particular forum, but I hope it may help some readers. Since this forum is "where I live" in the Adobe forums, I wanted top share it here first. Perhaps after some feedback to refine things, I may post it elsewhere (another forum perhaps, and/or my blog).
As I was answering a question from someone, finding myself again able only to refer to them by their brief Adobe ID (which often seems to have no connection at all to their name), I wondered:
Do people realize that they can change their forum identity so that their real name (or whatever other identifying info) shows up rather than just their brief Adobe ID? It's just that some folks would much prefer "talking" with someone by refer to them by their real name (or at least something more than just their Adobe ID).:-)
I suppose some may choose intentionally to remain “relatively anonymous” with just that ID to identify them, but I think many more simply don't know that they *can* change what's shown. You can. But it seems we can't do it inside the forums software itself.
Instead, we just need to modify our "Adobe account" to associate a name with our ID (which of course could have benefit in other places where our names might be used).
You can do by going to https://www.adobe.com/account.html, then choose “My Information” (and login if prompted). Then, on the page shown, under the section “My Personal Profile” you can fill in the first and last name fields. (You can also your password here, and it seems even your username.)
It may be possible that after making that change, you would need to sign out and back into the forums (forums.adobe.com) for the change to be picked up, but if it is, you should then see "Welcome [your name]" in the top right corner of the forums page, if it's worked.
And now any forum messages you create should have that name at the top of the message when people read it, and it would also be in the FROM address if people receive it as email (note we're NOT talking about your email address. That is never shown. If people reply to forum messages received by email, the reply goes back to a generic forum email address.)
Hope all that's helpful to someone.

SOLUTION:
Iam pointing t0 windows7 os.
1) go to control panel
2) open hardware and sound
3) In that open Devices and printers
4)In that u can find Apple Iphone.
5) now right click on this --> Hardware --> Properties --> General --> Uninstall --> ok.
6) now unplug and plug in ur iphone again.There u go u iphone name changes to its original name.

I am having this problem. At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2. I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

Podcast name is not showing up in itunes

The name of my podcast is no longer showing up in iTunes. Is there a fix for this?

You can change the title in the same place in whatever method you use to create your feed as you entered the original title, and then republish the feed - provided that doing so does not change the feed filename: doing so woud cause the Store to lose contact with it.
As to the image, if this is a new submission it can take quite a few days for the image to show.
It's not really possible to comment any further unless you would like to publish the URLs of both your feed and the Store page - this latter can be found by control-clicking on the podcast image (or where it should be) - and choosing 'Copy link'. Please include the http:// in both cases to make the links clickable.

I had the same problem and finally worked it out!
Go to the _AirPort Utility_, click on the *Airport Express*, click the *Manual Setup* button and click on the Music icon at the top. You'll see the "iTunes Speaker Name", which relates to the name in iTunes...

Showing Real name isntead of screen name

Just today I've been getting messages from people saying my skype has been showing my real name instead of my screen name. Is this because of some update? I don't want my full name to be shown.

Ah. Miracle solved. On this screenshot above the website is showing "Sign In". But for a different forum, eg. the InDesign Scripting Forum, I'm logged in. So with this new Jive 7 software you cannot be sure by sight, if you are logged in or logged out.

Yahoo messenger for Mac stopped displaying Real names, showing only ID's

I'm using Yahoo messenger version 3.0.2. All of my listed contacts are shown their id's and can not see their real name or nick name. It's so frustrating to misfinding my friends from my list. Please help me out from it.
According to yahoo messenger guide preference>appearance > tick nick name/first and last name. Unfortunately there is no Appearance option in left side.

I only see IDs as I have not allowed the app Access to my Contacts app.
I don't know enough about Yahoo App to say if the server can "push" real names or display names at you the way AIM does.
