  • Confirming Receipt of Mail, Confirming Receipt of Mail

I am running mail 6.5. I would like to get a receipt like I do in iMessages that the mail has been read.  My friends with PC's say they do it all the time.  I am stymied.

Very few email clients support that feature, or default it to off.
You can set up a header to mark messages with a read receipt, but Mail does not respond to them.
    http://email.about.com/od/macosxmailtips/qt/et_request_recp.htm
It would be simpler to set up a default signature that stated,
"While I realize that when or if you read this email is none of my business, my life would be incomplete if you didn't respond immediately upon receipt of this email."
If your recipients are anything like me, your emails would just go straight to the trash after receiving either of those from you.

  • Mail does not show all mails from the same sender

    Hello,
I have a problem with Mail - maybe an undiscovered bug? I play lotto on the free online platform www.freelotto.com. Each day freelotto sends me 6 mail receipts for any individual lotto game I took part of. The sender is always the same in each of these mails.
When I receive these mails on my iphone I got all the six mails I expected. The same on my ipad. But in Mail on my Mac (same settings) I got just four. Two mails are always missing!!! I have no idea why. The are not in the SPAM or any other folder (also not in the recycle bin). They are just missing at all. I also checked my mail provider but those two mails are not longer on the mail server. So Mail must have received them - but does not list them.
    What can I do?
    Regards,
         Meisinotti

  • How do I change the iTunes receipt e-mail address?

How do I change the iTunes receipt e-mail address? I keep getting receipts at my old e-mail address but want to change it to a new e-mail address. I changed the login name to my new e-mail address but I guess that only changes the login name, not the actual e-mail address in Apple's database.

I got some help from iTunes support, and it seems to work.
If you have a .Mac iTunes account, and you want to change the email address:
First, change your primary email address at myinfo.apple.com.
    Then:
"Due to an issue with the store, you must follow the instructions below to change your email address of record:
    1. Verify that you have an active network connection and open iTunes.
    2. Click “Music Store” from the Source list.
    3. Click on the Account button in the upper right corner. The Account field will either display your iTunes Music Store Account ID or “Sign In.”
    4. Enter the account name and password of the iTunes Music Store account.
    5. Click “View Account”
    6. On the Account Information page click “Edit Credit Card”
    7. Re-enter your billing address information, adding a space at the end of your address. This will force the account to refresh and apply your new email address.
Please rest assured that we are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible."

  • How can I obtain a return receipt using Mail?

I have never had to use a password as the administrator of my imac. I simply clicked OK without filling it in and it worked just fine. I downloaded Mavericks, and I was asked to enter the password as the administrator. I cannot do so. How do I fix this?

I'm confused.  Your question has NOTHING to do with the subject title.
    1)  You cannot obtain a return receipt using Mail.  That functionality does not exist.
    2)  If your admin password is blank, then just hit return.  I cannot believe you have NEVER seen an administrator password prompt in normal use of the OS, unless you've only used OS X for an hour total.

  • Can I get a Read Receipt with Mail, like in Outlook?

Can I get a Read Receipt with Mail, like in Outlook?
    W.W.

It is possible, though not through the GUI. And as Dave points out, asking for a receipt does not mean that you will get one. The magic incantations for requesting receipts are detailed, amongst other places, in this article. It requires using the Terminal, and once set affects all messages you send until you unset it again.
If you search this forum for read receipts (the topic surfaces frequently) you should find a helpful Applescript for turning them on and off, to save using the terminal.

  • How to set up read receipts in mail on OSX Mavericks

How do you set up read receipts in mail on OSX Mavericks? I've looked under settings for the mail app but can't see anything that I can 'turn on' to get an indication when an email has been read. Thanks for any responses in advance.......

    Hi, there.
Unfortunately, there's no such feature on Mail. No version of it has ever had.
Besides that, read receipts are not good at all. It is up to the recipient whether or not to send a receipt. So you will never know if the recipient never read the email or just didn't send a receipt.
    Yours.

  • Read receipts for mail

Is there any way to get a read receipt with Mail like there was when I had Outlook in a previous life? Cant find how to block a read receipt when requested either. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The Mail application does not include a read receipt request for sent messages nor does it provide a read receipt without your knowledge when requested by the sender of a message when opening a received message.
I consider this an invasion of privacy. A minor one but an invasion of privacy nevertheless.
Via the Terminal, you can have Mail "request" a read receipt for all sent messages but this will work only if the recipient's email client supports this and the recipient enables the option.

How can I receive email delivery receipts or read receipts on Mail, OS X?
    Thanks!

    See here: http://email.about.com/od/macosxmailtips/qt/et_request_recp.htm
Not sure if it works in Mountain Lion.
Note that those only work if your recipients have allowed it to happen.
Also, Mail will not respond to them at all.

  • Mail will not send with attachments

Recently, people have been complaining that they did not receive e-mails. Isolated it down to emails with file attached (i.e., word excel, etc). Mail does not get sent, even though in the out box shows as sent and audible sent mail sounds. Nothing gets returned or no mail delivery failures indicated. Tried converting a MS word documents to .pdf and was sent okay. Is anybody else having a similar problem or the solution with out changing to another mail application? Still using leopard 10.5.8 on Mac Book Pro, iMac... seen similar discussions in snow leopard.

It has to be Mail issue or a combination of both the service provider and Mail. I can send the same attachments using eudora on my Mac, No problems and everything works. I have been transitioning to Mail after a recent purchase of a iphone. The original problem was on my bosses Mac which was also synced w/ his iphone. Two Mac's (imac G5 intel & macbook pro G5 intel) 2 different computers using same OS 8.5 and same ISP same problem and both has been synced to iphone. Other users, same configuration but no iphone don't have the problem. Recipients of the mail doesn't receive anything (not even the e-mail message) so it is not being stripped... more like the whole message and attachment trashed/blocked. Recipients are on several different mail servers and when it does this, nobody gets anything. Sometimes it sends it all and other times it is just gone to the great inbox in the sky.

  • How do i enable read or delivery receipt for Mail?

how do i enable read or delivery receipt for Mail?

I entered this code into terminal replacing "your name" with my email address:
    defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Return-Receipt-To" = "[email protected]"; "Disposition-Notification-To" = "[email protected]"; }'
I've read it worked for some, but I could not get it to work. Does Mail automatically override this?

  • How can I BLOCK others from receiving return receipts on mail they send me?

I would rather others not know when I read their emails. Can Mail block return receipts?
I searched for an existing string on this and didn't find one. Excuse me if I missed one.

As Allan said, Mail does not support receipts, but sometimes HTML messages download images from a server, and this connection could be used to confirm that the message was opened. To prevent that,
Preferences > Viewing, Un-check "Display remote images in HTML messages".

  • Receipts for mail

How do I get a read or delivered receipt for e-mail?

If you want a Read Receipt (assuming your recipient is using Windows or sending mail through an Exchange server, quit Mail and enter this command in Terminal (with the quotes):
    defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To"="[email protected]";}'
substituting "[email protected]" with your real email address. After entering the command, press Enter and then quit Terminal. All emails sent from now on will include a request for a Read Receipt, though you're not guaranteed to get one.
If you want to delete that Read Receipt request in the future, enter this command in Terminal and press Enter:
    defaults delete com.apple.mail UserHeaders

  • HOW CAN I RECEIVE RECEIPT IN MAIL 2.1.2

    Hi
I am using os 10.4.11 and mail 2.1.2. I wonder if i can set receipt in mail 2.1.2, so eveytime i send mail to someone and when he/she opens the email i will receive email receipt that the mail has been read or opened. Thanks

Found a couple of hits on google that said that Entourage allows you to create custom mail headers such as request return receipt. Personally haven't used it. Still, the recipient's mail client may give a choice of agreeing to send an email receipt or decline to send an email receipt, or may not support that functionality at all (like Mail.app). Most folks I know that have mail clients that recognize return receipt requests (all Windoze users running Outlook or Exchange or some such thing) click "No" when asked if they want to send a return receipt, anyways.
