  • Recovery Partition Corrupted

I'm trying to create recovery discs for my Pavilion dm4 2070us but the recovery partition got corrupted so I cannot. Is there any way to fix the partition? It's pretty much a waste of space right now.

    Hi,
If the recovery partition has corrupted, there is no real way of being able to correct this.
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - note that using these discs to reinstall the OS will also recreate the Recovery Partition.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

  • How to recover a Corrupt recovery partition

The hard disk on my T500 crashed and the recovery partition is corrupted as well. I bought this machine in the US but now I have moved to Europe. Can someone suggest a solution to get my Windows Vista Ultimate back on this machine. I do not have any installation media and am not able to find who sells it. Of course, my OS is a genuine.
    Please help me.

what is the model number of your T500? You would need a recovery media for this.

  • Accessing Recovery partition

Please help, how do i access recovery partition on Sat. Pro L300

    Hello everyone:
It seems that I have a similar problem in the recovery partition area, I have followed the instruction that the Tech Support (Toshiba) told me to do to access the partition by pressing the number "0" once you turn on the laptop, which gives you some type of warning that the data on the laptop will be deleted, I have nothing to loose here since all wanted to do is to have a fresh window installation? almost near the end the laptop went into the configuration mode then reboots and it goes into a loop with the same message all the time over and over again? I can access the safe mode and change the password on the administrator account but not in regular mode (Normal Windows mode)??? somehow the administrator account cannot be changed to accessed? I can't ever create a new user account or a new Administrator account?? I am thinking maybe the recovery partition is corrupt somehow?? Since this is not my laptop, it  belongs to the store? I cannot bring it home to fix it or find some online support site to research more on how to troubleshoot this problem?  I work for a big retailer that don't have a tech dept, I am the only person in the store with a tech/computer background, too bad the customer didn't made any recovery CD's in which I can use to recover the partition on the hard-drive and have windows 7 to work.
Any tips or suggestions is welcome

  • Problem with Recovery Partition(After i got a Virus)

    Hi all,
I am using HP Envy 15 notebook with windows 7 home premium x64-bit installed.I didnt create the recovery disks since i got this notebook and what happened is that i got a virus from the internet but i almost repaired all system faults caused by it but the main problem for me is that it change all main drive folders name into Virus1232 for example (d:\recovery changed into d:\virus1234) and i spent hours over the internet to get the right folder and file names and i got them all but only one file not sure of.My problem is when i enter the Recovery Manager it doesn't detect any my recovery partition(but the virus isnt responsible for any file deletion it just caused some system changes) and just to speak i also corrected the folder and file names in c: drive since they are needed too.
    These are the filenames i got in D: drive : bootmgr - BT_HP.flg - CSP.DAT - DeployRp.log -  HPSF_Rep.txt - language.ini ; and the filename let is the one im not sure of: "HP_WSD.dat" (it is a zero-byte file).
The recoverymgrdump.txt works right untit "CSBRMgr::GetRPTOOLPartIndex leaving!"
    then it tells me :
"Win32 System Info Code = 3, Info Message = The system cannot find the path specified."
    and it also say :
    "CSBRMgr::HpcdFlgIsExistInUP <UP>:\WINDOWS\hpdrcu.prc does not exist."
I dont know if that is normal but also the deployrp.log gives me this error:
    "Package does not exist: c:\RM\Tools\DeployRp\WinPE_LangPacks\64\winpe-setup.cab"
ofcourse there are more errors in both files but i guess those are the most important.
So my question is: could the file attributes in d: drive be responsible for this error(i changed all attrbutes to be system hidden and read only)
    OR
If anyone have a solution please tell me what to do.
    Thanks.

I had made Partition of My C Driver into 2 partition and My Recovery Partition is unaffected. Now I tried To install WIndows 8 Pro and its successfully installed.
Now My Problem is My Recovery Drive (D is as usaual it shows Free and used Size of drive But when i click to show inside drive is Shows dirve is Emptly.
Then after i Installed Windows 7 Home as its was come with factory. and register my windows 7 but still i am not getting Recovery drive as i got be default.
Can You please help me ?
How can i get recovery drive as default and recover to original Factory Installation ?

When you first setup your computer, your should have created a set of Recovery Discs as recommended by HP. If your computer is still functional and the recovery partition (D: drive) is still intact, you can attempt to set to the "D:" drive as "Active" using the Windows Disk Management console and rebooting the computer. If you are lucky the HP Recovery Manager will boot and guide you through recovering your computer to a factory like state.
If not, you will need to order a set of HP Recovery Discs from HP or third party vendor ComputerSurgeons.com

  • During recovery from recovery partition I get message "INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing

During recovery from recovery partition I get message:

Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
Now I have a computer with a recovery partition and that's about it.
The C partition has been formatted by recovery and files have been copied but I can't get any further.
The computer is an nc6220 and the OS, if the recovery would work, is winXP pro.
    Anyone have any ideas ?

I assume you ran recovery from the hard drive?
    If so,
I would run a chkdsk on the recovery partition it may fix the sif file corruption.
You can do this from a XP boot cd using the command prompt, you just need to run it on the recovery partition instead of the C drive as explained in this article.

    if you use the
    map
command, it will list all the partitions and the drive letters
so the command might look something like this
    chkdsk /r D:
D: represents the recovery partition, which may be different than D:

  • Corrupted Recovery Partition?

I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro. I wanted to do a clean install of Yosemite. I booted into the recovery mode and successfully began the reinstallation of Yosemite. The installation process got interrupted, and ever since that point only Internet recovery mode would take over. This would only let me install OS X Mavericks. I did let it go through the entire Internet recovery process and install Mavericks and then upgraded it to Yosemite in the operating system.
After this point I assumed my recovery partition would be cleaned up again and have Yosemite there, instead my computer still booted into Internet recovery mode and only has Mavericks available. How can I get my recovery partition back to Yosemite so I do not have to go through Internet recovery mode every time? All I want to do is a clean install of Yosemite directly.

Internet recovery gives you the OS the machine shipped with—in your case, Mavericks. After  installing Yosemite, recovery (CMD+R) will give you Yosemite if you reinstall the OS.

  • How can I get back my recovery partition when my harddisk is corrupt ?

Few days ago I bought my new HP Envy Notebook 1003 tu with windows 7 home premium x64 installed.
After completing the first windows install, I saw that there are only two visible partitions, one big windows partition and other around 20GB recovery partition. I opened Windows disk management and tried to resize the windows partition to 100 gb, on changing windows partition size, windows gave a message that except first no other volume will be bootable or something like that, I don't remember and then I created around 4 more partitions and changed the recovery partition drive letter to Z:
Now today, I wanted to factory reset my pc but F11 recovery manager was giving an error and on searching on internet, I became aware that I changed my harddisk from basic to dynamic. Now Trough different methods I tried to make it back basic, then I editied the partition table and marked all partitions type from 42 (dynamic voumes number or whatever number it was) to 07 (ntfs volume number). After that my windows stopped booting, I tried many different things but unable to start the windows. Windows given an error on booting, I tried to repair the boot manager but ever the repair failed.
Please help me, I just want to backup the recovery partition and/or factory reset the system.
Any response will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

It depends on county and product you have. In few countries no recovery dvds are free while in few time bound. In few countries recovery discs are free as long as product is within warranty. You need to check with HP support team what is applicable for your product and country.

  • Accessed recovery partition and icons got messed up

Hello. Earlier I was browsing around my system and I accidentally clicked on the HP Recovery partition in My Computer and Python, Windows Live, Microsoft Office, and Google Sketchup 8 icons and a few more were turned to the missing icon. I can still run them, but missing the icons. If there isn't a fix I can probably just modify my system security to let me change icons. But if the is one, I would kill for it. Please help.

  • Operating System(Windows 7) got corrupted ..!

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me with my laptop issue ???
    My Laptop Details :
Product name         :  HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Operating System :  Windows 7 Home Premium
    RAM                             :  6GB
    Processor                  :  Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU [email protected](2400MHz)
    Purchase                   :  Decemeber, 2010.
    My Laptop problem :
My HP-laptop got infected with "virus" ( it says like found 38 virus).
And because of this virus attack , I was NOT able to open any application , for example say if i try to open "notepad" - then throws a message like " unable to open notepad application, though infected with virus".
So with this , i can confirm that my laptop was NOT allowing me to open anything because infected with virus.
Now i have 2 options to go further :
    1) Remove virus , using antivirus removal software ( This i don't have , so NOT attempting to use)
    2) Recover thru recovery option.
When i purchased this laptop , the laptop contains recovery partition within the laptop , so it's a built-in option.
Though i was NOT interested to keep that recovery partition in my laptop, I just burned recovery manager into 7 DVDs, and then deleted the partition.
With this my laptop contains drives like :
C: drive --> this contains OS related stuff
D: drive --> this contains my general stuff like songs , movies , etc
System drive --> 199MB ( not sure what thid contains )
Now coming to original problem/issue -
I have planned to use recovery DVDs , to recover to factory state.
Started with 1st DVD , it went upto 18% and then asked me to insert 2nd DVD.. and this went upto 30%.. now again asked me to insert 3rd DVD.
With 3rd DVD.. it went upto 40% , and then stopped responding. Nearly I've waited for about 3 hrs.. but NO use.. it's still hanged at 40% only.
So with 3rd DVD , it got hanged or stopped.
My doubt - not sure whether my 3rd DVD got corrupted or not , but i don't think so.. because 3rd DVD worked for atleast 10%..
Finally , I was struck here...
Not sure what's my next step
Please help me what I have to do now, like  what steps to take... etc
    How to recover?
    Thanks
    Kiran

    Hi,
Lets start with your providing the complete product name or product number.
HP has produced and brought to market perhaps more than 10,000 models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which one you own and which operating system is installed.
Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key. You can also read the Service Tag (if present) attached to the bottom of your notebook\netbook.
    Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a printed part number and a product name. Please post one or both of them (with all alphanumeric characters here). If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase.
Were you using an antivirus product (free or paid) when this issue happened?
What was the brand and product name of the Antivirus product?
    Best regards,
    erico
