My RecoveryHD disappeared after re-partitionning (system-Data/BootCamp). How to restore recoveryHD ?
RecoveryHD disappeared after re-partitioning my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion) as follows :
SYSTEM (HFS)
DATA (HFS)
BOOTCAMP (NTFS)
I want to install again RecoveryHD beside the three other partitions; for example like this :
SYSTEM
RecoveryHD
DATA
BOOTCAMP
Is-it possible ? How ?

Unless you are intimately familiar with the HDD data structures and Unix commands, I believe the only way would be by reinstalling the OS on top of your current layout (i.e., not formatting or erasing anything previously).

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like app, music and videos. Thus, you wll have to resync those back to your iPod.

Album artwork disappeared after an iTunes error... how can I get I back?
I've been using iTunes for years and out of a clear blue sky I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced because the sync session failed to start." After trying a few different things I find a fix that works- turn my iPhone all the way off and then turn it back on. Then when I added a new mp3 song to my iTunes Library and tried to sync it to my phone, the album artwork refused to show up on my phone even though it shows in iTunes. Nothing I did to fix it worked. I tried to add another mp3 song. Same problem. Then as I tried the various 'fixes' I read about here in Apple Support Communities, it made my problem worse! At first only the two new mp3 songs I added were missing album artwork. Now half of the songs I purchased from iTunes are missing album artwork! To add to that, many of the songs that have album artwork at all have the wrong artwork.
Stuff that didn't work:
Erasing all the music on my phone and resyncing made it worse
My manually added album artwork is already ID3 tagged v2.4
I have never checked the box that converts higher bitrate songs
Manually adding artwork and using iTunes' "get album artwork" feature

Firefox 30 switched more plugins from "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate". You may need to switch your Yahoo-related plugins back to "Always Activate" if the toolbar needs them. You can open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. I'm not sure which plugins are the Yahoo ones, but presumably you can determine that from their names and descriptions.
To test, try opening a new window (Ctrl+n) or new private window (Ctrl+Shift+p). Any improvement? -
Input source disappears after restart or log out. How to fix it?
I use two input sources: U.S. and Russian-PC. But recently the Russian-PC started to disappear everytime I restart the iMac or just log out and log in back. Instead of Russian-PC there is Russian which is inconvinient to use. So I always have to open language and text preferences unchek Russian, check Russian-PC.
I have tried to change language preferences on root user but it did not help.
Does somebody know how to fix it?Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply. Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself. I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative. This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved. I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.} No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine. -

I have an iPhone 5c which is updated to IOS 7.1.1. I regularly use FaceTime and never had a problem. Today I restarted my iPhone as FaceTime Audio call was not connecting, as I normally do in such issue. When the iPhone got restarted the FaceTime App on my iPhone disappeared. I tried searching from the Spotlight it does not show. Even tried to go to Contact to connect call from there but I do not have option to make FaceTime call in contacts as well.

Please provide proof that backs up your statement. Care to name any iPhone "authorized resellers" in Pakistan? Provide links? Just because a store has the Apple logo on its window or a sign saying that they are an Apple reseller does not mean they are. There are no Apple iPhone authorized resellers of any kind listed on this (Apple's) website. In fact Pakistan is not even listed as a country where iPhones are legitimately available. By that I mean that Apple has sanctioned their sale. You might have grey-market resellers which is not in dispute here.
And there are no Apple supported iPhone carriers in Pakistan either, no matter what you say or believe:

Entire text history disappears after sending MMS - Where are they, how do I get them back
I was attempting to send a picture via MMS, the picture was unedited, no third party app was used for editing or sending the picture. When it was sending, the apple icon appeared on a black background as if it was rebooting. When the reboot was complete, my entire history of messages was gone. When I search for messages on spotlight search, they appear - so they are still somehow in the phone. But when I select one from the search for viewing, it takes me to a "new message" page as if the text no longer exsists. I tried turning the phone off, removing the SIM card, leaving it for several minutes, then restarting. I am still opperating on ios 4, and have not attempted a restore yet. I am hoping to retrieve the lost messages, since apparently they are still being stored and remembered by some part of my phone. Why did this happen, and is there any way to save my message history? There are quite a few conversation I really want back. I would also like to know why my phone would do this and how I can prevent it from happening again in the future.

The second Google cache link works. To find the file in Windows, in Firefox click "Help", then "Troubleshooting Information". In the new tab that opens click the box "Open Containing Folder" under Application Basics and next to Profile Directory. Close Firefox. Find the file "localstore.rdf" (in the Windows folder you just opened) and delete. Open Firefox and customize your toolbars. Should be the last time you have to do it. -
All of my old notes disappeared after upgrading to ios 6.1, how do I get them back?
I upgraded by iPhone 4s and iPad 2 to IOS 6.1. Now all of my old notes are gone. Is there a way to retrieve them?

Marti GarnerI was having this same issue. I went into Settings -> iCloud and turned the Notes sync ON (which when I tried to do previously, i was prompted to create an iCloud email address which I already had). Once I turned that on, I went to Settings ->Notes and I now see a "Default Account" selection which is set to iCloud. Now all of my new notes save on the phone and on the cloud. This doesn't fix the fact that I appear to have forever LOST all the notes I had before iOS6.1. Apple, we're still waiting for a response???

The backup will first restore you app data and other settings, it will then restart and restore your camera roll photos, apps and other purchased media.
If you're concerned about losing purchased media you can always transfer them to your iTunes librarry first. To do this, make sure your computer is authorized for all Apple IDs used to purchase your media (in iTunes: Store>Authorize This Computer). Then connect your phone and in iTunes go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. This way, should anything go missing you can always sync it back from iTunes.
iCloud should maintain your last three backups. You will be asked to choose which backup to restore to after choosing to restore to iCloud backup and signing into your iCloud account during the setup screens. -
Ok. I'm stumped. The right side scrool bar on Pages documents disappears sometimes. I have no idea why. Nor do I know how to get it back. I've tried closing and reopening and restarting my macbook pro. If I widen the right side, I get the scroll bar for just a few seconds and then if fades away. I can't find anything it the help menus that fits it.

The scroll bar is consistent with the Full Screen approach in trying to maximize the working area of your screen. The scroll bar fades to make room for data. So, use your 2-fingered scroll or arrow keys for short moves. If you have a long way to scroll, the scroll bar will activate any time you scroll with the trackpad or the arrow keys and you can grab it and pull it to your desired position in the document.

Replaced system board? How to restore system serial number with a CD.
I have an l412 with a defective system board- would not POST. So I replaced the system board (it's a year out of warranty) and booted up, only to be met with an error code about a sytem serial number mismatch. Boots OK, but system update does not work (because of the serial number mismatch).

When the computer was manufactured, the EEPROM on the system board was loaded with the serial numbers of the system and all major components. These numbers need to remain the same throughout the life of the computer.
If you replace the system board, you must restore the serial number of the system unit to its original value.
You need the LENOVO ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette to do this. This floppy disk is only available to certified Lenovo service centers. Or those who know how to use google. Versions 1.75, 1.76 and 1.83 are the ones I have used. If you can't find them, you probably should not be trying this anyway.
You read that correctly- DISKETTE. As in floppy disk. How many laptops have one of these? Now you see the problem.
The real trick is HOW to do this- without a USB floppy drive. If you have one of these, stop, you don't need to know this.
For the rest of us....
First, find a computer with a floppy drive. Any computer.
Extract/install the HMD archive onto it. Follow the instructions in the file to make an HMD floppy disk.
Use this program http://www.boodaa.de/index.php/download-mainmenu-31/bootdisk2bootstick-mainmenu-44 to make an image of the floppy. Be sure to save it as a .img type, not .bin
Use this program http://paulski.com/zpages.php?id=1814 to create a bootable CD image using the floppy .img file you just made.
Burn the ISO to a CD and boot from it.

Deleted ntfs partition accidentally using cfdisk, how to restor SOLVED
Hello, please help me with my major prob...I was installing arch that time and I was on the cfdisk to format partitions, unnoticably I had deleted the ntfs partitions on my sata 160gb and replaced them with linux partitions. Is there any means of restoring the files of the ntfs partitions? Please I need your help. THanks
