My remote will not connect to my Apple TV!

I cannot get my remote to connect to my apple tv. I had hooked up the remote app and am able to use my iPad to connect but my remote will not connect. We thought it was the battery but I got a new one and it still won't connect.
HELP!!
thanks!Michael

I would love to do that. My remote does not react when I try to pair it. I get nothing. Ive tried to do the reset where you hold the menu and the FF buttons for six secs and nothing.
Ive changed the battery. nothing is working.
I don't know what to do.
It was working fine before, then it just stopped.
thanks!

  • If your remote will not connect, read this, it will most likely help you.

If your remote is not connecting, I can almost guarantee it is because you need to forward the ports on your router necessary to control it. I've suggested it to MANY people, and it has helped 100% of them. You need to forward ports TCP 3689 and UDP 5353.
If you don't know how to do this go to the website www.portforward.com, and click "Guides". Then, under Port Forwarding", click "Port Forwarding Guides by Router".
It doesn't matter if you're using a PC (which I am), or a Mac (which many of you are), this is more than likely what you need to do.
And for those of you who have had no problem whatsoever: I'd make sure your security is enabled. If it's not, yer in for a world of hurt if someone finds that out.
Please reply if this helped you, or if you need some more information. I will check back at 9:00PM Central when I get off work.

This is the exact same problem i am experiencing, wired pc, into router that also provides the wireless connection for my iphone. I get no device popping up in itunes when trying to add a library in remote.
I have added the port forwards to my router with no joy, disabled any and all software firewall/av, no joy.
Its quite frustrating as i can get to my laptop's library just fine (laptop is wireless), i've even tried at work and can get over wireless via an access point onto the network and my pc there is wired in.
I can only guess it is my router doing something stupid, or because it is running as a gateway and router, or something.
Any other info would be great

  • My keynote remote will not connect from my iPhone 5s to my iMac after updating to iOS 8.1

I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1 earlier today and now my remote for Keynote will not connect with my iMac Keynote. I had a presentation tonight and it didn't work. I tried rebooting the phone and it still does not work. Any ideas? (I have Yosemite on my computer and it worked fine with iOS 8.02)

This question is posted regularly, the remedy is to unlink Keynote Remote in Mac Keynote:
Keynote > Preferences > Remote, then re-establish the link.

  • IPod nano will not connect and the Apple logo screen stays up

    Hello,
Earlier today I shut my iPod nano off normally (by holding the pause/play button). Later, when I went to listen to it again, I found it wouldn't turn on. I tried resetting it, and I got the low-battery signal, so I plugged it in. The thing is, the Apple logo screen is illuminated and I cannot get it off that screen, and normally when I plug my iPod in, iTunes comes up. iTunes didn't come up and it says there is nothing plugged in. What should I do?
      Windows XP

    Okay.
If the Apple logo is not going away and the iPod won't get to the main menu (when not connected to the computer), try what those links suggest.
If your iPod does not get to the main menu or say Do Not Disconnect, it will not be recognized by the computer. You have to get the iPod to say Do Not Disconnect, show the main menu, or just get past the Apple logo before it will be recognized. The above links will help you get the iPod get past the Apple logo.
The iPod cannot be recognized by iTunes or the computer if it is stuck at the Apple logo.
Finally, don't connect the iPod while the iPod preferences in iTunes are open.

  • HT1947 Apple Remote will not connect

So I have tried everything on the help article but nothing seems to work. Whenever I try to connect my remote to itunes, it doesnt work. I tried putting the password in but everytime I do, it just says that the password I entered was incorrect. I've tried this many times to the same result. In addition, I have tried setting it up with Homesharing as well, but that as also not worked. I've tried everything on the help articles, so anything besides that would be helpful!

I have the same problem with two new Macs (iMac 24 Alum and MacMini Core2). Interestingly, it works if the ScreenSaver is in "Test" mode. But once the Screen Saver is activiated "for real" the Apple Remote gives me the same problem you have. I predict/hope that this will be resolved in an update soon.

  • Iphone remote will not connect to itunes

I have the downloaded iTunes 11 and the latest Remote App last night with hopes my problem would be resolved.  For about 6 months I have not been able to connect my iphone 4S (6.0.1) to my imac.  I've restarted the router, phone and computer are on the same network.  iTunes sees the iphone, when the iphone issues the 4 digit security code, I am prompted on my mac for the code.  I enter it.  I get the confirmation page on the mac that I can now control iTunes using this remote.  However, I can not.  When I open the remote on my phone, I receive an error that it could not find the library.  Firewall is off, I've re-tried multiple times, I've triple checked the correct home sharing ID.  I've restarted the phone, the computer, the router..sigh.  This worked flawless for some time.  It still works with my iPad, just my iphone is out.  Any thoughts out there?

    I have the same issue. I'm using a 3GS and a Win7 computer.

Your download or install of the update may have been corrupt. Visit the Mac App Store and re-download the update or visit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726 and download the 10.9.2 update combo and re-install.
If that fails to solve the problem please post back and post a EtreCheck Report which you can locate at:

  • Macbook will not connect to wifi, an environmental issue with wifi?

Macbook running OSX 10.85 will not connect to wifi, Apple support thinks it could be an environmental issue.  Am connected to wifi right now in recovery mode.  Has this happened to anyone else?  What did you do to correct the issue?  Also, 2 iPhones and an iPad connect without issues.

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Run Software Update and install all available updates for OS X or your computer's firmware.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it. Note: this is not applicable to OS X 10.9 or later.
    Step 4
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Remote 2.0 will not connect with iTunes

I have been trying to resolve this issue for many days and I can't find a solution that works anywhere.
I have a PC running vista and iTunes 10 on a wireless home network. Remote 2.0 is on my iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1. I can't get iTunes to recognize that the remote app is running. When Remote shows the four digit passcode to enter - the remote will not show up in iTunes. I managed to connect the two once - but when I tried to repeat the connection immediately afterward it didn't work.
-I have the Apple remote ports open through the firewall (disabling the McAffee firewall doesn't change anything anyway)
-The devices ARE on the same network (I can connect to Air Sharing via windows explorer)
-iTunes is checked to "look for remotes"
-It doesn't matter whether I try to connect using Home Sharing or not
-I have tried to "Forget all remotes/connections" in iTunes and the iPhone.
Any ideas as to what is going on? I know it can work because it did once - but only once.

  • Remote app on my iphone 5 will not connect to itunes

The remote app stopped working on my iphone 5 and will not connect to itunes. Home sharing is on on itunes and adding new library on my remote iphone app results in veryfying passcode results in the following message on itunes 'the pascode you have entered is incorrect'. I have the feeling that the library is already added but will not connect. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated!

I had the same problem. Reinstalled everything and still nothing. Came across this article:
5 Simple Tricks to Get iTunes to Recognize an iOS Device
    Quit and relaunch iTunes
Connect the iOS device to a different USB port on the computer
Reboot the iPhone, iPad, or iPod
    Reboot the computer
Use a different syncing cable (if possible)
I changed my syncing cable and it worked! Try that if all else is failing.

  • My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.

I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!
