My replacemnt phone is carrier locked

My replacement phone is carrier locked & doesn't work outside AU & NZ. My original one was bought in  UK & was carrier unlocked. I have contacted apple US, and they told me to contact Apple UK. Apple UK then told me to contact apple NZ. But im not able to as I dont live in NZ anymore. Also, there is no Apple in South Africa only resellers and they cant do anything too. Im actually getting a bit annoyed now as I feel like i am being given the run around and that this is bad customer service. Please help!!
thanks
Christian

You were very very lucky that Apple AUS replaced the iPhone as
the warranty is NOT international and it must have been a good day for the
genius staff
Bottom line is if it was unlocked and you have a receipt from
Apple UK store it should have been replaced with an unlocked
iP5 in AUS (not with standing above comment on warranty)
Assuming Apple Aus sell unlocked iPhones they should
have given you  an unlocked replacement ,
did you make them aware it was unlocked
however  technically they shouldn't have replaced it at all
So it is gently gently and ,nothing to do with Apple UK or anywhere else
Can you prove defective iP5 was unlocked ?
although because it was unlocked is
probably the reason they decided to replace it !!!!!

My phone is carrier locked with telenor sweden and telenor is ready to unlock but payment must be paid through swedish credit card , that i dont have so what i can do  to unlock , i m ready to pay for carrier unlock what can i do? I had a conversation through mail to telnor support , i got reply that only swedish credit card, no abroad credit card.

yes, when you bought the code, telenor tell you wait a few days, they offer to apple and unlock for your iphone, after a few days, you can check in the web, your imei Unlocked and you must restore your iphone with iturn, and conratulation your phone has been unlocked...

  • My phone is carrier locked how do I unlock it?

I sent my iphone for repair and apple replaced it. Now my carrier won't unlock it because it is not the phone I started with.

It has to be the carrier - there is no way to ask Apple to do it as they do not do it.  Apple merely processes automatically the unlock requests they receive from carriers.  It is the carrier, and only the carrier, who can process your unlock request for you.
I think you need to call them back and insist on speaking to someone higher up as the support folks you have spoken to seem very misinformed about their own company and how things work.

  • Phone Unlock (Carrier) Procedure?

My iPhone 4S was an upgrade through T-Mobile in the UK. In this day and age there are still areas with poor data coverage areas for T-Mobile/Orange so I like to use my business O2 SIM on odd occasions.
I've contacted T-Mobile as their phones are carrier locked and paid for a subsidy code (unlock) which will take between 10 and 28 days to arrive. They didn't ask for my IMEI but I presume that's because they have that logged on the system.
I'm curious what the unlock process involves, someone mentioned that the carrier contacts Apple and the unlock is managed through iTunes. There's no code as such, when Apple have updated their system and the phone is connected using iTunes, the phone will unlock. Is that the case?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5014
Once you have completed the unlock process as laid out by AT&T
you can change the sim at will
Although I usually switch off the iPhone before changing ( being careful)
I have at times hot swapped and had no problems
    You lose nothing

  • I put a Tesco sim (02 carrier) in 2 unlocked phones, Both phones are now locked to 02, 02 blame apple, I connect the iphone to itunes and it states that the new carrier (orange) is not supported

I put a Tesco sim (02 carrier) in 2 unlocked phones, Both phones are now locked to 02, 02 blame apple, I connect the iphone to itunes and it states that the new carrier (orange) is not supported, Isk this of both 02 and apple, who's phone is this and what right do you have to lock a previously unlocked phone?  very angry

Where did you get these phones?
These and other forums are full of people with iPhone unlocking problems - the net result is that, as others have said, is:
If you bought them from Apple they will be (and stay) unlocked.
If you bought them PAYG from CPW then they will lock to the first SIM activated.
Any other contract or PAYG phone iPhone bought from the networks WILL be locked by them too.
However, all is not lost. The original purchaser can request for the phones to be unlocked by Apple, via the carrier. The carriers usually charge around £20 to do this, or gratis if you're out of contract.
You are the original purchaser, right? If not, you need to get in touch with that person and pray they'll help you out.

  • Apple sent me a refurbished phone that is locked to an unknown carrier. Help!?

My phone was damaged. Apple sent me a refurbished phone. My carrier told me the phone was no longer locked to them. But the phone is still locked. How do I find out whom it is locked to?

Its not refurbished. Its reconditioned less than 30% of the phone is made from reuseable parts. Casing, Battery is all brand new.

  • I purchase iphone from saudi arabia (mobily telecom), can i use this mobile in pakistan and other custires. and how i know this phone is carrier unlocked..

i purchase iphone from saudi arabia (mobily telecom), can i use this mobile in pakistan and other custires. and how i know this phone is carrier unlocked..

It will be locked to mobily telecom, and according to Apple's list of supported carriers and their features (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937) they do not offer unlocking.  Since only the carrier it is locked to can unlock it, you have bought a useless phone.

  • My iphone 5 is carrier locked to verizon

So I bought a iPhone 5 from my friend, and he told me that the verizon iphone 5 is unlocked so I could use it on any network.
However, when i checked with Apple, they told me that the verizon iphone 5 i bought is carrier locked to verizon.
So I called and asked them to unlock it from the network, and I was immediately refused multiple times.
I am really stuck on what I can do at this point... could anyone in the verizon community care to help me out?
It would save me tons of time and work. Thank you in advance.

Have you tried using a SIM from a different carrier? I know that Apple says it is carrier locked, but there are several instances on these forums where people have "claimed" to have been able to use a different carrier with a Verizon iPhone. I assume you have service with a different provider. Just get a SIM card from them and try it in your phone.
This would not be able to work the other way around, though. Verizon iPhones have both CDMA and GSM radios, where GSM carrier iPhones do not have the CDMA radio.
Hopefully this will work for you, however if it does not, you will have to bring it up with your "friend". It was his mistake. You could sell the phone on a site such as Swappa.com.

  • Get a new non carrier locked iPhone?

Well I canceled my sprint contract and I'm left with a carrier locked iPhone for sprint, well since I bought apple care + I have insurance on phone. My iPhone 4s has battery issues and if I went to apple and they gave me a new iPhone would that new one be carrier free meaning I could take it to AT&T with me? I think that would be the case right?

Well all the iPhones are the same when new when you activate it to a carrier, the carrier then locks it to its company, so if it's unactivated and they give me unactivated new phone then it's not locked to anything, this should work because I had learned that all the iPhone 4s have same internals because apple designed to work both ways.?

  • HT1937 i have iphone 5 carrier locked to sprint so how can it be factory unlocked ?

i have iphone 5 carrier locked to sprint so how can it be factory unlocked ?
what is a good way to unlock it as i am in UAE now

Don't waste your time, as I've already stated, Sprint WILL NOT autrhorize the unlocking of your sim slot.
You wasted your money. Return the phone for a refund, if you can, otherwise, sell it to someone that can use it on Sprint's network in the US.

  • Android phone, no carrier

    Hello all.
I am from Denmark, travelling to the states in late June. I want to buy a new android phone, but I have some concerns:
    1) How do I ensure that the phone will work in Europe
    2) Is it possible to buy android phone without a contract with a US-carrier - as far as I can see from the website, I can buy the Google Nexus S withoit a carrier, but I would rather buy the Samsung Galax S II - if it is available in the US at that time.

    1)  Check support for the 3G bands used in your country.  Quadband GSM is almost a given for Android phones, however previously nearly all phones that supported the US UMTS bands also supported UMTS2100 (European 3G), however, that is no longer a given.  For example, the HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T does not support UMTS2100.
    2)  Not sure.  Possibly - prices will be significantly higher.  The phone will come locked but the carrier might unlock it if it's no-contract.  Talk directly to the carriers for this, this is a "corner case" where store employees at non-carrier-owned stores will have insufficient training.  Even employees at carrier-owned stores may refer you to their customer service call center.

  • Hi, my phone was stolen a few days ago and I was waiting for it to come online to track the last known location where it was turned on. Now that my phone has been locked but i cant seem to find the last location it was online. I need the last location

Hi, my phone was stolen a few days ago and just a few days ago the phone was online and it automatically locked itself since I've put it under lost mode and the thief probably switched off the phone immediately so that I cant locate it. Is it possible for me to have the last known location where he/she turned on the phone so that I can track it down from the last location? Thank you

    Correct.
The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

  • I have just moved to Spain and out in a Spanish sim into my Irish bought iPhone 4. It says 'invalid sim' and 'no service'. The phone is not locked to any provider. I have been told that its a handset issue. Please advise.

1). Are you positive the phone is not locked? Where did you buy it? Did you get it unlocked from your original carrier? Only Apple sells unlocked phones in most countries.
2). Did you try with a diffrent SIM. MAybe the one you have is defective.
3). Does the Spnaish carrier you are using support the iPhone? Who told you it is a handset issue?

  • Is it possible to restore to ios5 after updating to ios6 when my phone returned to locked state to unlocked state. Pla help...

Is it possible to restore to ios5 after updating to ios6 when my phone returned to locked state to unlocked state. Plshelp...

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked/modified/jailbroken to work
with wireless carrier other than the one it was purchased from. The
update has relocked it to the original carrier. Contact the original
carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify - only the
carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Be advised that the previous modifications to change from original carrier
to your current Carrier may have rendered the software unable to be
officially unlocked and may prevent future updates.
Reverting to a previous version of iOS is not supported. Even it it was,
such reversion would not solve your problem because the iPhone has become
relocked to the original wireless provider and that status will not change
no matter what iOS version is installed.
