My request (plea) to Apple...

Hello All,
I was looking forward to the 2.0 update and while I love the new features, they still haven't addressed the one feature I was anticipating (or hoping) they would add which is continuous playback of music videos. I had filled out feedback forms on a few various occasions and was hoping this would be included, but still it's not. This is the feedback I left for Apple:
"I am very happy with the 2.0 update but a feature which I feel is extremely important and which I've requested before in this feedback form is continuous streaming of music videos and the ability to make music video playlists. Videos playback continuously in itunes on my computer, but not on Apple TV. I wish there was a way to fix this. I would love to have continuous playback of music videos while giving parties and such. This is a very important feature for me and one reason why I originally purchased an Apple TV. Please, please issue an update that includes this very important feature. I hate having to stop everything and choose another music video after one plays. Once again I thank you for your time & courtesy and the opportunity to add my feedback. I am a loyal Apple customer and hope that my voice along with many others in the Apple forums means something. There are a lot of us there that would like to see this feature. I hope you can make it happen. Thank you."
I still think Apple will eventually get this done. I guess I'm just putting this here because I'd like everyone who also would like to see this feature as much as I do continue to use Apple's feedback forms to let them know. Please continue to write them and hopefully we'll see this in the next software update hopefully soon. The link to the Apple TV feedback page is below. Please write!!
Thanks for reading this.
Mike.

I'm afraid Apple cannot help you. If the phone has been locked by the previous owner's iCloud account then only he can unlock it, either by providing you with the password to unlock it or by removing it from his list of devices. There is no workaround, and I'm sorry to tell you that if you cannot get him to do this your phone is useless.

  • Plea to Apple to sort iCal invitations - or has someone got a workaround?

I know there are a million threads on this topic, so I've phrased this more as a plea to Apple to sort out rather than a question. But there is a question - has anyone got a workaround this?
I use iCal and MacMail. I have 2 email accounts and 2 calendars. Let's call them Mail.1, Mail.2, Cal.1 and Cal.2 so I can talk about them below. My calendars are not local, I use Google to host them.
    All I want is this:
    1) To 'tie' an email account to a calendar account, such that;
    2) Meeting requests that I receive in account Mail.1 go into Cal.1
    3) Meeting requests that I recieve in 1 account Mail.2 go into Cal.2
    4) Responses (accept/decline/maybe) to be 'sent' from the mail account associated with that calendar
    5) When I create a meeting go from the mail account associated with that calendar
At the moment, this is totally hosed in iCal. Meeting invites, for me, pitch-up in the wrong calendar. Meeting request responses come from the wrong email address (so the receivers' calendar client gets confused, as do they). You can't change the calendar if you are not the organiser.......the list of problems goes on.
Basically, you can't run a home and work life on a Mac at the same time and it all seems so simple to fix. So, please Apple - fix it.

Are you working on the "new and improved" version of iCal that uses CalDAV? What a frickin' disaster "upgrading". Used to be able to move invites to other calendars, not any more! The only work around is to duplicate it and change it. But then you have two events.
I used to be able to hide information on events so people just know I'm busy. Why do they need to know my business?? Not any more. I've had to resort to copying every event into a "published" calendar and use the old version. At least until they kill it.
    Very frustrating.

There is a problem with the activation process between your machine and Apple to verify your machine is allowed to reinstall OS X.
You will have to call AppleCare to resolve this issue. (even if you did't purchase AppleCare you still call their number)
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
Another method is to take it back to the AppleStore you purchased the machine at.

we are using same laptop with my wife for our 2 iphones and when sincronizing, she's getting my apps and is requested for my apple id and password when getting a new app on her device. How can i fix that issue?

Each phone needs to set its own sync settings on the various tabs in iTunes.  On the Apps tab, for example, uncheck the apps that you don't want on the phone being synced.  This article may also be of interest: http://gigaom.com/apple/itunes-101-multiple-devices-one-itunes-account/.
You can change the Apple ID used for purchasing on her phone by going to Settings>Store>Apple ID, tap the ID shown, sign out, sign back in using her Apple ID.  However, be aware that if she has any apps on her phone purchased with your Apple ID she will still be prompted to enter the password associated with this ID for all future updates of these apps.  This is because apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, regardless of the ID in Settings>Store.

  • App Store language - A personal Plea to Apple

Like Millions of people around the world I live in a country where i don't speak the local language fluently. In fact where I live in Spain there are in the region of 1 million ex pats living.
I switched from PC to MAC because the OS has multilanguage support and I could switch my spanish bought iMAC to english rather than have to send off to the UK or US for a copy and do a re-install.
When it comes to the APP Store I cannot get it in any other language than Spanish. As a result I don't buy anything.
For this very reason I didn't get an iPhone but went for an android device where the app store is multilingual
For this very reason I didn't Buy an Ipad.
I've seen lots of threads on here where expats can't access the local store in their own language...
Why not adopt the policy that Amazon has with kindle where you can request to switch the location of your kindle store?
This policy is costing Apple money isn't it time it was changed??

    I absolutely second that.
After the language change of local iTunes stores last year many users have tried and requested to be able to keep the English language. And obviously have been completely ignored.
The same goes for local Apple websites and their online store.
Both are still frequently poorly translated - for me in German (I am not in/from Germany, but the content prominently is...)it is also offensive to be informally addressed as Du and with my first name rather than my last or full name.
That is for a target group 13-19 with no language skills and no foreign descent.
Having the great possibility of that - best of all OS - multilingual MacOS and then being forced to use monolingual interweb-tools is embarrassing.
Regression to the mean is natural, regression to a lowest standard seems unnecessary for a company with the success history of Apple.

  • An Open Plea To Apple, Inc ....

PLEASE release the iPodOS SDK Into the wild.
    What's that, naysayers?
The iPod Nano 5G not a pocketcomputer?
    Consider ....
    It runs apps/displays text/plays audio/records & displays images/records & displays video ....
All functions of a regular desktop computer -- everything except InterNet.
It seems Apple, despite momentous efforts like Reversi & Vortex,
has lost all interest in the progression of apps for clickwheel iPods.
There're developers, like me, who are not quite ready to jump into the iPhoneOS waters
yet are more than willing & chomping at the bit to create apps for the world's coolest pocketcomputer --
    the iPod Nano 5G.

I bougth a macbook from anotner person.
I already change th apple id in all places.
But only in app store when I choose download the new release of a app, it request the password of the old apple id, and i can't switch this apple id to my apple id.
Where i should change for this?

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
    3. Other issues
If you see a lock screen when trying to boot from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information.

  • ITunes support for 5.1 audio formats - a plea to Apple!

When will we finally be able to purchase and play high resolution 5.1 audio formats such as DTS, Dolby Digital, MLP, etc with iTunes?
I have a car (Acura) that has iPod integration, as well as an amazing audio system with DVD-A and DTS support. The DVD-A surround sound discs sound amazing. The weakest link is the iPod....I can't buy any 5.1 content from iTunes and have it on my iPod or iPhone.
As you know, DVD-A and SACD are basically dead physical formats, but the 5.1 content they carried is amazing. There is no shortage of 5.1 music material these days. The distribution is the only thing missing. I'm willing to pay a premium for 5.1 music content, but Apple has to sell it...please!!!
    Doug

ed2345 - Thanks for the link. Looks very interesting! I don't see any surround/5.1/DTS/DD files, though. I don't think ripping/playing 5.1 files is possible via the iPod/iPhone software without Apple's support. I could author my own DVD-As from these hi-res files, but that's a little more effort and $ for a tool, just for 2.0 files. I'm primarily interested in iTunes/iPod/iPhone 5.1 support, in any format of Apple's choosing, directly within the iPod/iPhone. Whatever iTunes chooses would likely be the defacto standard for 5.1 audio files. I'd just rather carry an iPod full of 5.1 files than physical discs for every album. Again, thanks for the info!
Roamingnome - I'm addressing both Apple and our constituency with this request to support 5.1 audio formats. I have already submitted feedback directly to Apple.

  • Open plea to Apple re video capture

    Dear Apple,
The election coming up is hugely important and there are a lot of worries about irregularities taking place, both with people being allowed to vote and with the voting technology itself. Video capture with the iPhone would make it possible for millions of people to document any situations that come up at the polling place, and help insure transparency in the process. Would you please either add that capability to the iPhone software, or allow app developers to offer it?
    Thanks,
    Uri W

  • Sim download request using wrong Apple ID.... what can I do?

I have 2 Apple IDs:  1 for personal use & 1 for developer use.  I used the latter a couple of days ago to download Xcode 4.5 Preview. At that time, I also downloaded the 4.3 & 5.0 simulators. I now want to download the 5.1 sim.  But when attempting to do so from Xcode 4.5 (More Simulators option), I get an error (not authorized to do so). It is attempting to use my personal Apple ID for that download & hence the reason for error.
How can I get the download or work around this issue?  There was no problem downloading the other sims earlier.  But now it keeps defaulting / using my personal ID despite requesting the download via Xcode 4.5.  Is there a way to "tell" the download to use another Apple ID?
    Thanks in advance.

No need to get in touch with account security because they will only tell you what I'm about to tell you...

Today i opened my iMessage, and it started to request my apple id, i wrote it correctly but it didn't login. I tried to reload it, but it didn't help.... What can it mean?

I have the exact same problem.  I spent about one half hour the other day on the phone with an apple technician. He could not resolve it and told me it may be a system problem and that he would call me back next week. Try calling them or going into the apple store with an appointment.

  • Email request to verify Apple ID? is it legitimate?

I have received an email from "Apple" do_not_ [email protected] to request me to verify my Apple ID with a link verify ID. I have deleted it. However, I think I may have received an email in the last couple of weeks with a similar link and I have verified my Apple ID via link. any advice please

If you have verified your Apple ID there is no reason to do it again. If you want to make sure it is verified you can do this:
    - Go to https://appleid.apple.com
    - Select Manage your Apple ID
    - Sign into your Apple ID
If your email shows that it is verified then there is nothing more that needs to be done and you can ignore that email.
