My restore discs won't load on a new computer

I recently obtained a G4 933 with no operating system. I junked my 733 and am trying to use the restore discs from the 733 on the 933. I restart holding the c button down, the smiling mac shows up, the progress bar moves to the right for about a quarter of the way and then stops.
I have tried to install os 9 using the os9 install disk and same result. Is the mac that smart knowing I am using it on a different machine or am I that dumb?
I need os9 to load some software that requires 9 for the initial install (Photoshop 6 with upgrade to 7). HP Scanner. I am not using the 733 anymore and my software is legally bought by me.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have never used the Erase & Install yet. Besides being basically lazy, I have never felt the need to do all of that work.
My feeling is the Erase & Install is the nuclear bomb method of upgrading and should be saved for those occasions when a nuclear bomb is called for and not any other time.
I have always started out with an Upgrade. It is simple so I start there. My plan is to test and see if I need to do an Archive & Install to fix problems. So far my testing has never discovered any, so I have NOT had to use any of the stronger methods.
As I say I like to take the easy way first and see what it is going to do for me. Why make life more difficult for yourself?

If it doesnt work after applyign patch try the below solutions:
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.

That depends on how you do it.
By far the best, easiest, most reliable method is to use Setup Assistant when your shiny new Mac first starts up, to transfer your apps, users, data, etc. That doesn't disturb either the OS or basic Apple apps that came with the new Mac. See Using Setup Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion.
There is a facility to restore an entire system from Time Machine backups, including the version of OSX on the backup, but that's for use when your internal HD has been erased or replaced only. It's not a good idea to restore the full backup of one Mac to a different one. Depending on the circumstances, the installer may not allow it. Even if it does, the Mac may not start up, or may kernel panic, or not work properly.

After doing a system restore, Firefox won't load pages.

I restored my laptop a couple of days ago (from a previous date, not a full system restore), now firefox will open to the home page (google), but will not load any other page. It doesn't even bring up the "page won't load" page, it just continually says 'connecting' forever. I also noticed, even when I first open firefox, and it opens the google homepage, it doesn't have google.com in the address bar, it has 'about:home'. Internet explorer seems to be working fine, and my internet connection is fine, so I am not sure what the problem seems to be.

hello rlyslowff, one thing you could try is to remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall/security software and let it detect the program again...

Recovery disc won't load on my Equium A210 - 17l

For some reason, no matter what I do or try, my Toshiba recovery disc will not boot or load in my disc drive. I hear a lot of whirring noises and loud clicks, but nothing. I've cleaned the disc, I have my BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD drive. I have to eject the disc or else it would stay on a black screen all day. This is driving me up the wall, my laptop is just out of warranty and my games/applications are running slower and slower each day. I can't afford repairs, I need help! Has anybody got advice for me? *edit*: I forgot to mention, certain discs don't load in my laptop but they'll load fine on my desktop (including my Toshiba recovery disc) is there anyway I can copy the files off my recovery disc and create a new one? (I'll admit it has a couple of scratches)

It is not easy to say what is wrong there. It can be faulty recovery DVD or maybe defective optical disc drive.
Try to use some other bootable CD/DVD as Microsoft installations CD or some Linux installations CD. If none of them work maybe is ODD defective.
Recovery image cannot be copied on HDD and new media creation is not possible. If your recovery media cannot be used because of scratch you can order new copy under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Old computer crashed; loaded iTunes to new computer, won't sync my iPod

The computer I initially set up my 60g iPod video crashed (windows based). I loaded iTunes on my new computer (also windows based) and even entered my iPod serial number. When I plug it into the USB port, iTunes recognizes the iPod (with my name) and even shows all the songs and videos on the screen, but they are in faded gray and I can't highlight them or upload them into iTunes. When the iPod is first plugged in, I get the message about the iPod being authorized on another computer and can set it up on the new one, but then it would remove the entire contents and update with the new library which has nothing in it.
Is there any way to upload my iPod contents into the newly loaded iTunes on my new computer? I got an iTouch for X-Mas and I am hoping that when I load that software, it will recognize my older iPod's music library and upload it. Of course, this won't matter if I can't get my old stuff into me new iTunes.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

CS5 won't load on my New Windows 8 computer

My computer was fried by lightening and I bought a new Windows 8 computer. I have CS5, but it won't load. The disc doesn't automatically start in the drive, and when I look at the files on the disc, I cannot locate a setup, install, or .exe file. Any suggestions?

I have posted this before and I did what was suggested, but have not had any luck with adobe support.
Problem: Mac laptop died. I have cs3 and upgrade to cs6 on the laptop, backed up to external hard drive. i'm trying to install now onto my new computer, but can't load it from the external hard drive, so downloaded cs6 upgrade from adobe from my products. i know i purchased and downloaded cs3 from adobe website, but it doesn't show up on my page. so when i download cs6 and it asks for my serial number, i put it in, but then it won't unlock the software because it's not detecting any other software (cs3) on my new computer. i was told that i had to contact adobe tech support, which i have done multiple times, but have not gotten any response back.

PSE13 won't load on my new Mac

Last month, updated my mac to Yosemite therefore forcing me to update to Photoshop Elements 13. I did. Got a new Mac for Xmas but PSE13 won't load on it - I have Yosemite on new Mac so not sure what to do.

Why did you have to upgrade to PSE 13? Are you trying to install PSE or run a copy that you migrated over? What happens when you try whatever it is that you're doing? We need more information to be able to help you.
Just FYI, PSE 6 through 12 also work in Yoyo.
