My router ip address is called an untrusted connection

I've been having an ongoing problem with all of my devices (3 Macs, 2 Ipads, 1 PC) being unable to access Google related web pages, both in Firefox and in Safari. I either get a blank page when I click on a Google link (YouTube too) or else I am re-directed to something called LinkBucks.
Using www.routerlogin.net I changed the password on my Netgear router and hard reset it but the problem persisted. I then tried to access the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address line but I got a Mozilla Firefox message telling me "This Connection is untrusted" and further stating "192.168.1.1 uses an invalid security certificate" "This certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed" "This certificate is only valid for UBNT" "Error code:sec_error_untrusted_user".
Thinking my problem was router related I purchased an Apple AirPort Extreme and set it up as a new network today. It did not fix my problem with Google re-direction. The Airport Utility program tells me that the Airport Extreme router address is 192.168.1.1 but still, when I type that in to the Firefox URL address line I get exactly the same message that "This Connection is untrusted".
When I go thru the same procedure in Safari, it tells me me "Safari can't verify the identity of 192.168.1.1" and it further tells me the certificate is "self-signed" by UBNT and Ubiquiti Networks in San Jose, California.
Can anybody help? Why am I being told that the router address can't be trusted? Who/what is UBNT and/or Ubiquiti Networks?

I am not familiar with Ubiquiti, but it seems they provide router technology: http://www.ubnt.com/
A lot of routers include a security certificate so you can use HTTPS to encrypt your connection to the router. However, for cost reasons, they do not buy a signed certificate for every device, or should I say, not signed by an authority that Firefox (and apparently Safari) recognizes as a valid authority to sign certificates.
Often you can create an exception so that Firefox trusts the certificate temporarily. If this were a website where any personal or financial information is involved, you would be suspicious and want to investigate carefully before allowing an exception. For your router, where you mostly connecting to configure its internet connection, you may feel more comfortable creating an exception.
Now about LinkBucks: this might be a system-level hijack, but let's check a couple things in Firefox just in case:
# Does it occur in Firefox's Safe Mode?
# Can you try "No Proxy" as your connection setting?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled ''(Flash and other plugins still run)''
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?
By default, Firefox will look to your system's connection setting.
Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default (at least on Windows) is "Use system proxy settings" but try "No proxy" to see whether that makes a difference.

Here are the basic steps to setup port mapping on the AirPort:
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP tab
On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
    Reserve address by: MAC Address
    Click Continue.
MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup >Advanced > Port Mapping tab
    Click the "+" (Add) button
Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port values>
Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port values>
Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
Private UDP Port(s): <enter the same as Public UDP Ports or your choice>
Private TCP Port(s): <enter the same as Public TCP Ports or your choice>
    Click "Continue"

  • Is there a way to make a rescue email address without calling apple support?

I see lots of questions about rescue emails etc. I am having problems with security questions as well I don't remember ever making those security questions either. So I am wondering of there is a way of making a rescue email address without calling the apple support team in which I do not wish to go through a whole bunch of people taking hrs to actually get it done , my dad has had experience with this before and isn't happy with calling them either because he has to recall so many times and go through the process over and over again so. Is there a way with out calling them?

This only leads me to calling apple support to change things ,in which I wish to not do so, I have money on my account in which I can't use because of these security questions in which I did not put up and when I made this account on iCloud it did not give me the chance to make a rescue email. Thus leading me to where I am now.

  • WRT54G router IP address is the same as my modem's IP address. how to change the routers IP address?

The broadband modem got broken and the ISP changed it to a new modem. Now my problem is I cannot use the router when they changed the modem. The ISP won't provide support since they didn't provide me with the wireless router. I've read through the forum and found that I had to change my router's IP address. WRT54G router IP address is the same as my modem's IP address, 192.168.1.1. I already changed the local IP address of the router to 192.168.1.2, saved the setting, released and renew the ip address. Now, when I connected my internet modem cable to the router, I cannot connect to the internet. I am able to ping 192.168.1.2 but I cannot connect to the ping 192.168.1.1. Please help me do the proper setup.
    Thanks!

Hello! I solved my problem but I find the solution so weird. After changing the routers IP address to 192.168.1.2, instead of plugging the modem cable on the Internet port of the router, I plugged it in one of the WAN ports. Presto, it worked. Even my wireless connection is also working.

  • Router IP address change

I have DHCP on my network router firewall and I have a wireless router. I also have a private IP address setup of 10.0.1.   I change to router IP address to my IP range but it does not work. Is there a way to setup the router to find DHCP on my network and capture the correct 10.0.1 range? If not how can I manually change it and still use th web browser setup page to configue the router? The setup page has the rages 192.168.. range and will not connect to the web browser setup when change from this...I also wanted to disable the DHCP since I already have DHCP on the network...

You can login to router's setup and change its IP address to IP address matching your network. Next time login using the new IP address assigned.

It calls both the ipad and iphone when calling the associated email address for the ipad. However, when I call the iphone it does not call the IPAD.

settings - facetime - remove the apple id, on your husband phone.
He should create his own id for imessage and facetime.

  • What should my router IP address be?

I had my Airport Extreme router running my wireless network and the IP address was 192.168.1.1.
Then I reset everything and deleted the old network and created a new one with the same name.
It seems to be working fine but now the router IP address shows 10.0.1.1.
Why did it change and should it be 192.168.1.1 like before?
I have 3 Mac computers, an iPad and an Airport Express and they all now have IP addresses starting with 10.0.1.
    Why is this happening?
    Thanks
    Len

The default IP address of all the Apple routers is 10.0.1.1, so if you reset the device or the settings back to defaults, this is the setting that you will see.
The 10.0.1.x range works just fine. There's no particular reason for it to be 192.168.1.1 unless you happen to like that number better. There's no performance advantage to either the 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x range.
Your next question may be how to change back to 192.168.1.1.
Open Airport Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
Click the DHCP tab below the icons
Locate the setting for DHCP Beginning Address and change this to 192.168
Click Update at the lower right to save your settings
You'll need to power cycle your entire network now.

  • Router IP address not found

when I enter my router IP address into terminal I get:
    host 192.168.X.X
    Host X.X.168.192.in-addr.arpa. not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
    On entering this I get
    $ hostname
    XXXXX-Mac-Pro-XXXXX.local
But when I try to locate host on local I get same error message as IP address
    $ host XXXXX-Mac-Pro-XXXXX.local
    Host XXXXX-Mac-Pro-XXXXX.local not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
I'm not sure what is gong on or why, can anyone shed some light on this?

Your DNS server does not have a name for your router's IP address.
You DNS server does not have a name for XXXXX-Mac-Pro-XXXXX.local
You can use ping XXXXX-Mac-Pro-XXXXX.local to get the IP address.  You can use other utilities to get the IP addresses of devices on your network, such as Bonjour Browser or WakeOnLan

  • DNS fails using router IP address as DNS server address with static IP

This is my first experience with a Linksys router so it might be normal behaviour but just wanted to check. With a WRT54G2 router I have a few PC's I want to use static IP. Up till now with other brand routers including Belkin and Dlink, I have been able to just put the router IP address in as the address of the DNS server when I use static IP. This seemed to work initially with the Linksys but now for some reason, if I don't code the IP addresses of the DNS server provided by my ISP, DNS lookup fails.  If I use DHCP for the PC's there is no problem.
Is that normal behaviour or is there something wrong I am doing?
    Thanks
    Larry

I decided to upgrade my Linksys 54G router to a "Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router (WRT160N)Version 1" . I have had problems with the wireless (as far as I know just wireless portion) connection dropping. I have done some searching I was able to find some settings to try, and it did work better, but not for too long. I have this router within arm reach away, so it's not a distance issue. I have tried many things for about the last 6months or so.
As a last resort, and I do mean last resort and against my better judgement I purchased " Dual-Band Wireless-N Notebook Adapter (WPC600N) Version 1". I was hoping it was a compatibility issue, but there was no difference.
I have heard of trying older firmware, but I can't find any.
I have been a Linksys fan for quite sometime, but as of recently I am thinking of reconsidering if I can't get this resolved with out spending any more money.

  • SIP Lync Issues - calls unable to connect

    Hi,
For the last couple of weeks I have been unable to make any Lync SIP calls on my home BT Infinity package using HH5.
Calls simply will not connect. However if I swap the router out the calls connect correctly.
This was working before so can only presume that BT have 'changed something'.
    Any ideas??

Hi Nokkyear. I have been having the same exact issue using my E51 since I got the phone two weeks ago. After plenty of stress and anger, I somehow got it to work just a few minutes ago.
In my case, I made the following change and was finally able to connect and make a test call:
1> Under Connections/SIP Settings, I changed the PUBLIC USERNAME to the full address (i.e. [email protected]). Previously I had the xxxx portion of the address.
I had also removed the appearances of the "sip:" prefix from the proxy address, the registrar address and the public username address. I would say that only after I did that, I was able to connect to my SIP server....HOWVEVER, upon review now as I write this post, I can see that the "sip:" prefix has returned to the entries.
Try this and see how it works.
    LS.

  • VPN Client can't reach router or hosts, but can reach other connected sites.

We have a VPN client configuration on a 2901 router. The client passes authentication and connects fine. When connected, cannot reach the 2901 or any devices directly behind it, BUT can reach routers and hosts that are connected to the same 2901 through site to site connections.
    Few notes:
I have added some lines excluding NAT in a few different ways, but does not resolve.
I have switched the RAP rool from 10.96.20.x to 172.21.20.x and can then connect to the local host. Appears to be a routing issue to the 10.x network, but I can't seem to find the solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is the config:

  • I have been getting a "Untrusted Connection" error on Firefox randomly for the past 4 weeks, what could be causing it?

For the past about 4 weeks I've have been randomly getting an untrusted connection error whenever i try to search something on google.com or using the google search bar. It will happen for about 5-10 mins then will go away. This will happen across 3 different computers (both mac and pc) and will also happen on Chrome, sometimes at the same time sometimes different times. I've searched around and tried pretty much everything i can think of. The date/time is correct on all computers, cache has been cleared, everythings up to date, contacted the ISP and the router companies and they say its not them so i'm at a complete loss.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated!

Did you check the issuer of the certificate and other details?
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

I have the 1st generation iPad.  All of a sudden it will not connect to my wi-fi.  It finds my wi-fi, but will not totally connect.  I have done everything...reset network, rebooted router etc and it still will not connect.  My other divices are connected....iPhone and 3 Macs.  Any suggestions?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • FaceTime calls do not Connect

I have been trying to call a contact using FaceTime from the US to France this afternoon.  We are both connected via Macs to WIFI.  When I place the call (US side), the app will ring and ring and ring - and then say other pary is not available.  My contact in France sees the call, and hit the accept button, and then sees the message "connecting" appear and then after a minute or so, the call is dropped.  This is repeated when the person in France calls me as well.
We are both using the email address associated with our FacTime accounts.
Any ideas as to what is causing the call to be connected?
    Thanks in advance!
