  • My wireless router keeps shutting down after installing firefox 8.1

After installing firefox 8.1 my wireless router keeps shutting down. I am using Windows Vista, Gateway Laptop, x64 system. I have a belkin wireless router.

    Hi,
Firefox 8.0 is no longer being maintained or offered for download. The latest version is Firefox 10.0: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Please make sure to download Firefox from a legitimate site. Also please note that Firefox by itself doesn't and cannot change OS network settings or hardware settings, other than trying to use different configurations in itself.

  • RV320 router keeps restarting (probably crashing)

Since we have installed the router with very simple configuration a few weeks ago, the router keeps rebooting at random interval, usually twice or more a day. We tried hard reseting it, and I also found a new firmware to which I upgraded the router a few days ago (from 1.1.0.09 to 1.1.1.06), but it still does the same thing.
I have logging turned on, but the only relevant messages I see in the logs are those when it already restarts (rv320 : System is up). So I don't know how or why it crashes.
The only features we use are Site-to-site IPSEC VPN termination and DHCP server. It is in gateway mode, so firewall and NAT is active. But I turned off or unconfigured basically everything else.
What could I do to have this solved?
Is there any way to extract more information, probably some kind of trace or crashdump, or debug logs from the router?

We have just replaced the router with the same type.
    Uploaded same firmware, same config.
The router still keeps on rebooting!
In the system log there is nothing about why it is rebooting, I only see "System is up" message.
However I've just noticed that in the Incoming Log Table I have these messages, which I don't really understand:

The internet connection is a 120Mbps/25Mbps leased line. I know that some users have torrent running, even though it is forbidden.
Is it possible that this "high performance" router still has the good old problem of open connections count limit, so because of a lot of half open and established connections caused by torrent make the router deplete its resources and thus reboots?
Rebooting happens more often during working hours, this might indicate that it could be related to resource usage.
What is the theoretical connection count this router should be able to handle?
Do any of you have similar problems?

  • Router keeps rebooting every few moments

I have a WRTP54G router and this morning when I tried to connect to the 'net, I discovered that the router keeps rebooting itself. It  barely gets through the process before it dumps and starts all over again, making getting online impossible. I use the power adapter that came with the router and it's plugged into the wall directly. I have no idea what this thing is doing or why. Anyone familiar with this problem? Suggestions?

Ok Everyone I would like to suggest to check your power supply. I have the same router and I have had to factory default it several times because of my provider pushing firmware to it and messing things up! This time after several resets to bring my router back to default it seems my power supply totally burned out due to power surge trying to start and restart my router so now it will not even boot my router even up to the dreaded flashing power LED. I received an exchange router from them to replace my WRTP54G but is is not the same device. They sent me a device they currently use for new customers and it has many issue if power is lost and the WIFII need to be set up after any power reset as well as WEP WPA and other setting not taking. I used the power supply that the replacement router came with and now I can view my setup page and config on the WRTP54G router. So check your power supply! I thought it crashed because of firmware only but after finally getting it to work with the new power supply it looks like it was multiple issues. I found another WRTP54G on EBAY and will wait to get it to use the power supply and have a spare router available and send back the junk router they sent me to replace my WRTP54G.

  • Router keeps initiating session on aux port

    Hi all,
I have a situation where I telnet to routerA. This router has, via its AUX port, a connection to routerB on the console-port.
So I can normally do a reverse telnet from routerA to routerB. (via the lo0 on port 2001 on routerA)
Problem is, routerA keeps trying to connect to routerB, thereby causing line 1 (for the AUX port) to be busy most of the time.
Ergo, I'm having trouble connecting to routerB (If I try a couple of times, I usually succeed after a while)
I can also confirm the login attempts when I do "monitor traffic line 1" (line 1 being the aux-port), and also in the ACS I see a lot of Failed login attempts from routerA with caller-id async
I don't understand why routerA is tryiing to login to routerB, nor how to stop it while leaving my access intact ofcourse
    routerA
    interface loopback0
    ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
    line aux 0
    session time-out 5
    modem inout
    transport preffered none
    transport input all
    transport output all
    routerB
    line con 0
    logging synchronous
    login local
    Any suggestions would be welcome....

    Hi Richard,
this has solved it indeed, thanks a lot! Though it's unclear why the routerA was setting up sessions in the first place, at least its not doing so anymore.
    regards

  • 1801 Router - Keep having to 'clear crypto'

We have about 8 Cisco 1801s deployed using broadband and the ezvpn client configuration back to head office. One of our sites keeps experiencing intermittent dropouts of its ADSL interface which we are investigating. However the problem is compounded because when the atm interface comes back up the ipsec tunnel does not. I have to log on to the public address of the router and issue the 'clear crypto ipsec client ezvpn' command. Below is samples of the relevant configuration. Is there a way to force the tunnel to clear down and reconnect if the atm changes state?
    crypto ipsec client ezvpn phntvpn
    connect auto
    group gables key #####

    ip helper-address 10.177.20.19
    ip tcp adjust-mss 1452
    no autostate
crypto ipsec client ezvpn phntvpn inside
    interface Dialer1

    ppp authentication chap callin

    ppp chap password 0 ########
    crypto ipsec client ezvpn phntvpn

Yes, you can force the tunnel to clear down and reconnect if the atm changes state. To specify automatic tunnel control on a Cisco Easy VPN remote device, you need to configure the "crypto ipsec client ezvpn" command and then the "connect auto" subcommand. To disconnect or reset a particular tunnel, you should use the clear crypto ipsec client ezvpn command.

  • Wifi router keeping it on.

I finally have wifi at home and it's the Wireless Broadband router. But I am wondering if I keep the router on all night do I get charged? Or do I have to keep turning it on and off? And is that even safe?

If you have FiOS, it is best to leave the router on 24/7. The Set Top Boxes need the router in order to do what they need to do during the night. It's perfectly fine and safe to leave the router on 24/7. Just ensure your Wireless security is up to snuff (WPA2-PSK is the best to use) and your PCs are secure. The same goes with DSL. FiOS and DSL are always-on services by design.
If you have a Mobile Hotspot through say, Verizon Wireless, you'll be best turning off the Hotspot at night so your data plan isn't eaten up by background noise or anything on the wireless overnight.

  • Wrt55ag. Can't config, router keeps droping wired connection

Ok, I have a wrt55ag. The thing worked great for me for about a month or so. Then I started to have problems where it wasn't connecting. This is easily remedied by resetting the router and all would be well. Well now I'm having worse problems where the thing keeps dropping my wired connection(from port 1-4 to pc or laptop). I've tried different cat5 cables(even the one that came from linksys), but still have the same problem. It's like as if the device keeps power cycling itself as when I lose connection on the pc the lights on the router are acting very sparatic. This will continue to happen untill I unplug the power from the router. Any way to fix this. I can't gain access to my router before it starts killing the connection again.

try updating the firmware of your router. you may download the firmware on the link below.
    www.linksys.com/download
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

  • Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router keeps disconnected

Hi, My wireless router WRT54GS keeps on disconnecting without any reason. I have also changed the channel to 11 but still the same issue. It connects for 1 minute and then it stops working even though the signal says "excellent strength" and all the bars are green.

Hmm. I seem to be having a similar problem (see my thread). Check the cable that is pulugged into the back of the computer. That is where my problem lies. The computer doesn't seem to be reading it. If i get some info, ill help you.
EDIT:You have to check the IP address of the computer connected to router. If you are getting an IP of 169.254.x.x, then the router might be defective.

  • WRT54GX2 problem - Router keeps recycling

I've been having a problem where my router will shut off and then turn back on when I turn on one of my computers.  If I leave it off, all the others work and so does the wireless.  The message Network Plug Disconnected keeps popping up. NO CLUE. Can anyone help?

Make sure the power supply to router is tight and consistent. Try updating the firmware to latest version. Hard reset and reconfigure router after update.

  • FIOS Router keeps freezing up - even replacement router does it too!

    Hi all,
I've had FIOS for a month or two.  Switched over from Comcast which I was on for probably 8 years.
I have the Actiontec Router.  It keeps freezing up on me daily, if not several times per day.  Wireless internet is gone, wired connections are gone and I can't even ping the router.  If I try to type http://192.168.1.1 in my browser, it doesn't even pull up the login screen.    If I try to run the FIOS Connection Wizard it gets up to the point where it says it can't login to the router and it keeps asking me for the admin username and password.
A simple reboot of the router brings things back online for a while but this is not a solution.  Though one time I had to do a hard reset in order to get thing back online.
I'm running all default settings, DHCP etc.   The only thing I changed was the wireless encryption which I set to WPA2 with AES.
I have probably 5 wireless devices (2 laptops, Zune, Iphone, Tivo) and wired into the router is my Dell XPS PC, my HP Media Smart Server (Windows Home Server), a line into my homes wired ethernet jack, and a powerline networking device which connects to my Xbox 360 on the other end.   All of this worked fine on my Comcast system along with a Linksys router for wireless.
Also i'm frequently getting disconnected briefly from Xbox Live gaming sessions - I'll get kicked out of the matchmaking room in Call of Duty for example.
I did a chat support session with FIOS support last week and they shipped me a new router.  I connected the router a couple days ago and I'm still having the same issue.
I'm going to talk to tech support again but I wanted to post here for advice as well.
    Thanks,
    Jason

There have been many complaints about the small NAT table in the Actiontec router causing issues with Peer to peer networking which is used heavily in gaming. One thing you could try is seeing if there is a network setting in the game that limits the simultaneous permitted connections. If you set that down to a reasonable amout the router will stop locking up. Or have the ONT switched from COAX to Ethernet and use your own router with the actiontec piggy backed on to it for TV only. If you do this you will loose remote access to the TV STBs from the web. There are many ways to configure your own router if you wish to go this route.
It could also be one of your devices connecting to the router. You could unplug them one at a time and see if the router stops locking up.
If you do a search using the search feature at the top of this forums page, and seach for Small NAT, you will find many posting including this one.

  • Cisco 7505 Router Keeps Restarting

    All,
I have a cisco 7505 and it keeps restarting. I run a show version and I look at how long the router has been up and below that line is this line "System returned to ROM by processor memory parity error at PC 0x602A3B5C, address 0x0"
Is this the reason for the router restarting if so what does this line mean? Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, this is the reason for the router restarting. If it is restarting due to memory parity error every time, then you're running into a hardware failure. A one time restart due to parity error can be written off as a fluke, but you should never see such an event more than once. If that is the case, I'd recommend opening a TAC SR if you have a smartnet contract to get a replacement.
    HTH,

  • Router keeps resetting??

    Hi all,
I have a linskys wireless router which keeps resetting everytime I switch it off at the mains? It used to work perfectly but then we got a new modem because the old one broke and now I have to reinstall it (using the cd-rom) everytime I want to use my laptop.
I can't leave it plug into the mains all the time because the socket is used for otehr things and gets too hot.
    Any ideas anyone???
    Thanks

Well it seems that router is not configured properly …in that case you need to open routers set up page using http://192.168.1.1.
Let me know who your internet service provider is.

  • Router keeps showing 2 networks

wrt54g2 set up as "router", with IP == dsl´s ip, keeps showing 2 networks:
    One is my custom network.
The other, one named "linksys", which is unsecured, open, has no password and can connet to the internet.
I need to remove the second.
    Thanks!

Unplug your router and see if you still see the linksys network.  It may very well be your neighbors.
