My router only recognise 1 iPad at a time.

When my daughter comes round with her iPad, she gets on to the internet no prob on our router, but my ipad will then immediately loses its connection. When she switches her iPad off, mine goes back online. How to I fix it so that the router can deal with two iPads at the same time? On our network the router deals happily with two Windows PCs, one laptop, two TVs and my iPad, but not with two iPads even if all other devices are switched off. Can it be that it can't differentiate between iPads?

Thank you all for your suggestions. We tried everything but it still didn't work. And then this weekend my daughter turned up again with her iPad and suddenly there's no problem. It's a mystery. But I'm very pleased to be able to use both iPads at the same time now. Hopefully it will be permanent!

  • Syncing only ONE iPad at a time and auto-checkin frustration

Good morning, I am trying to update my class set of iPads using configurator but when I plug the iPads in, the sync and charge cart will only update ONE iPad at a time (even through I'm connecting 7 devices at a time).  The other 6 iPads are showing as being connected but are left hanging with the message "trying to authorise apps".  I can consistently update one iPad at a time but I can't do a batch (or all).  Any tips?
Also, when I connect the iPads, it skips the prepare stage and goes straight to supervise.  It automatically checks the iPads in and starts checking for iOS updates etc.  This is when it will update the ONE iPad only.  It goes ahead and deletes everything off the ipad and then reinstalls everything - which is fine except that I've added additional apps.  I have to wait for it to finish going through this process (20 minutes later) and then I can go in and select the new apps and the backup configuration - but then I have to wait another 22 minutes.
Please help me ... someone!  This is very frustrating.  I'd appreciate any tips.  Sincerely, Anne

    @dananova,
It sounds like you need to either increase the number of dynamic IP addresses your router will hand out or change some of your devices to static IP addresses.
Check the router manual on how to change the dynamic IP range of your router.  If you don't have a manual, you can go to Belkin's website and download it.
To change the IP address of your iPads to static addresses, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the ">" next to the name of your wireless network.  DHCP should be highlighted.  Write down the all the settings on the screen. Next tap the Static button.  Enter the exact same information that you copied from the DHCP screen with the exception of the last 3 digits of the IP address.  Enter a new 3 digit number in this spot.  Generally the original IP address will end with a low number such as 009, so pick a number that is not that low but less than 255.  I would suggest a range of 240 to 250, unless the original IP range falls near this range.  Also make sure you use a different 3 digits for each device you set to use a static IP address.

  • 2 iPads, but can only connect one iPad at a time to my home network.  Is this a known issue with Mac/iPads in general?

At home I have a HP PC, netbook and Sony laptop with no connection issues.  Last year I bought an iPad 1 for my wife.  This year I bought an iPad 2 for myself.  However, only one iPad can connect to the wifi home network at a time. If I am using the iPad2 then the iPad1 fails to connect to the internet.  if the iPad1 is being used then the iPad2 cannot connect.   I tried resetting iPad network settings for both, reset router, and updated both iPads to latest software/firmware yesterday.  Right now the only iPad that shows any connection is the iPad1.  The iPad2 does not see the home network or any other outside network.  Any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this?  It is odd the network issues only affect the iPad's.

I take it that it is through Wiindows Explorer you are able to track the iPad as an external device?
Disconnect your iPad and try a Reset - hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 15 seconds.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC.
Also, try a different USB port on your PC, a few times if necessary.

  • Is there a way to have an iPad run only 1 app at a time?

I am a tech support person and teachers are asking me if we can have a students iPad run only one app at a time. For instance, a group of students in biology would be allowed to run only the app for their biology book.
Students have gotten so distracted during classtime with iMessage, web browsing, videos and games that it becomes virtually impossible to keep them on task in the classroom.
I am aware of adding profiles to the devices, but this profile would only be for the biology class. It would then have to be removed or deactivated upon leaving the class.

You can restrict iPads running iOS 6 to a single app via Guided Access:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5509
but that requires reconfiguration of the iPads whenever you want to set it up or deactivate or change it. There may be a mobile device management (MDM) system that would allow you to push out such changes "on the fly" but I can't say with certainty. Someone else here or in the iPad in the Enterprise forum may know.
Otherwise it may be necessary to implement an administrative solution such as banning use of iPads in class or enforcing consequences should a student be using the iPad for inappropriate functions.
    Regards.

have an ipad 2 - gmail works great - added account for comcast email and it picked up over 29,000 emails, and can only delete 50 at a time - any way to delete all?

Delete the account the account from the iPad. Go to the Comcast website and deal with all of those stored emails. Then reinstall the account on the iPad.

  • When I try to set the automatic time zone on my iPad in Settings all I get is the "waiting" wheel constantly turning.    The only way to set the time is in the manual mode.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Thanks!

When I try to set the automatic time zone on my iPad wi-fi mini in Settings all I get is the "waiting" wheel constantly turning.
The only way to set the time is in the manual mode.
    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks!

You must be connected to a good wifi network for it to reach an outside time server.

Hi Ingo2711, Thanks a million for your reply.  That's probably what it is.  Now next thing, my iphone will not switch on at all.  No water damage or physical damage.  I brought to an irepair place and he was first able to see the photos on my phone somehow but when I brought it back to get fixed he couldn't.  I have been told by a few people that it may just be the charge port or battery or unfortunately the logic/motherboard.  What is my best bet? I'm not able to afford to get it officially fixed if it can be. Any recommendations?  By the way, thanks a million.

  • Can you set up a wireless network/router using only the iPad?

Can you set up a wireless network/modem/router using only an iPad - if you don't have a computer?

You actually can as most routers come with a web interface that lets you tinker with all things with regard to set up and connection.
You have to choose though as there are other routers that would require you to plug-it in to a computer first, as they have a desktop application to make way for easier set-up.
But for everything else, it is done through a web client which is just like accessing any web site.

Open iTunes and tell it what to sync to the device.
This is covered in the User's Guide.

  • My iPad doesn't recognise video files when I connect my sd card with the camera connection kit. It only recognises photos from the same card

My iPad will only recognise photos when I connect an Sd card with the camera connection kit. It doesn't recognise video clips from the same card?!

Most probably because your camera records videos into MTS files, which aren't cmpatible with iOS. Read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-1080p60i60p-non-mov-videos-right- your-camera for more info and the alternatives (preprocessing ("remuxing") on a desktop etc); don't forget to follow the iVI review link at the bottom if you have a Mac.

  • 2 iMacs, Time Capsule as router, only one does WiFi

I have two iMacs. One (20") was bought in 2009 and is running OS X 10.6.8. The other (21.5") was bought today and is running OS X 10.7.3. I have a Time Capsule that I bought in late 2009 and have used to back up the older iMac. In February 2012 I started using it as a router for that iMac after a Linksys router failed. In all the time Ii've had that iMac, I wasn't able to get it to connect wirelessly to the TC and it wasn't that big a deal so I didn't try to figure out why it wouldn't work wireless.
Today I set up the new iMac. The fellow at the Apple Store told me that both iMacs should be able to connect wirelessly with the TC. I successfully set up the new iMac and connected wirelessly to the TC using one password to connect to the wireless router and a different password to connect for backup. These are the passwords that I set up long ago. I then tried to do the same thing with the older iMac. Airport is not turned on. When I run diagnostics for it in System Preferences, Airport won't recognize the passwords. I checked my Keychain and could view one of the passwords and it is the same password. I can't figure out where the other password is stored. But these passwords work to set up the new iMac for both backup and wireless but do not work in Airport for the old one.
    I am flummoxed!
My iPhone works with the WiFi. Others have brought their laptops here and have connected to the WiFi. Why is it that one of my iMacs won't do WiFi? It is sitting right next to the TC. The other computer is only a few inches away on the other side.
Do I need to reconfigure something? It's probably something simple. I can't figure out what it is.
I access the internet and get backups on the older iMac by using an ethernet cable. It won't do wifi.
Suggestions would be welcome! Thank you!
    Ginny

On the problematic iMac, please try the following, in order, until hopefully resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)
