My router's range has reduced!!

I have an E3000. I have moved to a new house. Here the router range has suddenly become very short. By very short I mean, it works well within the hall (10 meters), but as soon as I enter another room, it drops and doesnt work behind closed doors or through walls. Also its next to a staircase, and wont work as I go downstairs and into a room.
I tried testing a D-link (N) router, and an Older Linksys (G) router, but all of them seem to be suffering the same problem. My wired connection is performing very well, and this prob is with Wifi only.
Can anyone please help??

As other routers show the same I would it's in the structure of your new house. Maybe metal rods or a lot of cables/wires in the walls causing a high level of reflection and interference. Other people had wall papers which contained a tiny metal mesh creating a faraday's cage impossible to penetrate for radio waves.

You need to increase the No. of rows in the settings...
Goto File --> Preferences --> Excel Options and set the maximun no of rows as per your requirement...

Router and range booster question. PLEASE HELP! :(

Okay so I used to use the WRT54G router and since I upgraded to a new WiFi router / modem I don't need to Linksys one anymore. Well my neighbors aren't getting a very good signal and I managed to find an old WRE54G Range Booster in a box. Well my question is that if I set up the WRT54G router and Range Booster at their house would they be able to have a stronger signal if trying to connect to my new WiFi router? Oh its a HUAWEI, this seems like a pretty easy question and I'm guessing it wont work but I am just wonder like what are my options here to get them a better signal with these 3 components. Thanks!

You can certainally try the WRE in their house but 1 bar may not be enough to repeat the signal throughout their house.
Another thing you can try is to try and position the WRE somewhere in your house that is as close as possible to their house and aim the antenna towards their house.
As I recall I think the V3 version of the WRE has an ethernet port underneath a cap on top (I don't think V1 and V2 had one) but I believe that it was only intended for setting up the range extender. If you can get a sufficient wireless signal into their house I think you would have to have their laptop connect wirelessly to the WRE.

I really need help u2013 Iu2019m using Xcelsius 2008. Since Iu2019m using formulas in my spreadsheet I have a warning message u201CYour range has been reduced to the maximum rows allowedu201D. I know it because I checked what happened if they are no formulas.
The formulas are for dynamic drill in charts.
At first it didnu2019t bother me since Iu2019ve seen all the data that I wanted, but now Iu2019m not seeing all the data. My main tab of the spreadsheet has around 100 rows and A-BE columns.
My question: How can I solve this?

BTW - i tried the "preference > excel options" trick and it didnt work - i put 5000 rows and still the message is shown.
although now i see the missing data, how can i really be sure there is something missing?

MacBook Pro wireless range has suddenly decreased

I've had my MacBook for almost a year now and the wireless range has been fine. However, a few days ago the wireless started going a bit dodgy - it would sometimes stop working and website would not load. But a quick restart sorted it all out.
Then, since yesterday it has stopped working completely when I am in my room (where it previously worked find.) But when I move closer to the router it works....
Does anyone know any fixes or would getting in contact with apple be the best option?

I changed the channel and then I did a proper reboot of my router ( from within the router settings) and it seems to have fixed everything.

I used time machine to restore on a formatted MAC. Now the HDD space has reduced by 100GB but I cannot see any of the files. How do I find and delete those 100GB data from the HDD?

Not necessarily. I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. Just installed 6.0.1 in place of 3. whatever. Text size has reduced, on some sites, and tools/options makes no difference

I have just installed 6.0.1 in place of 3 something. The text size on BBC and pprune has reduced. I have done all I can with tools/options, but the requested changes, even using advanced, just do not stay in place.
Can I go back to 3 something, or should I switch to Chrome?

You are running into the activation lock.

You have to either enter the Apple/iCloud ID and password in order to activate the iPod for use. Or you can try to dissassociate the iPod for that account by:

Since then I've had a internal hard drive crash and had to replace the drive, and re install all my programs and OS, I still have this problem. Other laptops before (and after) the crash also find the reduced range problem.
During the re- installing of the newest mac OS update (10.4.10) I didn't see anywhere that the airport extreme base station was updated. I see that there are some security updates available, but don't know if the auto update feature checks for airport stuff .... Does it? And how can I check my system (airport) to see if it does indeed have all the latest fixes installed?
I'm guessing this is now an airport problem, not a computer/OS problem because of the fresh install. Agreed?

There have been quite a few reports that raising the Base Station – with some saying up to the ceiling – can make a substantial difference. It might spoil your decor, but you might give it a try. Are you using MacStumbler or similar so that you don't have to rely on the menu 'bars' which aren't always helpful?
You can alternate between v5.5.1 and v5.7 for signs of improvement – reports indicate that the change can improve matters, but unfortunately in either direction, so it's just trial and error.. For simplicity keep the .dmg for both and then it's just a double-click and a few moments. While you are using v5.5.1 you will get the invitation to upgrade to v5.7, which you obviously ignore.
A hard reset every so often is certainly a good idea. I'm sure that by now you have a good record of your settings.
Also, every so often use the AirPort menu to turn AirPort off, wait a minute, and turn back on.
Also, every so often, in System Preferences > Network > "By default, join:" > "Preferred networks" delete your network, click on "Apply Now" (essential), re-create the network and again click on "Apply Now".

Router blocks after IP Range has been changed

I am having issues with my A90-9100EM15-10.
I need to change my IP range from 192.168.1.1. to let's say 192.168.22.1 in order to connect to a company network via VPN. I use TheGreenBow IPsec Client for the VPN connection. All connections are wireless.
I changed the IP range on the router, restarted the whole system (including Settop Boxes). All my devices get IP's in the defined range, the Settop Boxes get IP like 192.168.22.100 , ...
Now ever since i did that, my router freezes every day about 2 times. All the lights on the router are green, however i cannot ping the router nor login. There is no recognizable pattern, it doesnt matter if i have all devices on, if i have vpn connection, download or even just have my blackberry online.
I was dealing with verizon customer service, repair, and and and they are not really a help.
The last time i was told that i had to restore the default values as the settop boxes are required to have an ip from 192.168.1.100 ... and up and to wait and see if the problem is resolved. There might be a problem that the boxes do not have ip's like 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, and so forth.
I was supposed to be called back by the tech today, so far no call...
My questions are:
did anyone in here have the same issues

Is your WAN port through the COAX or do you have an Ethernet cable from your ONT to your WAN port?
If you have Ethernet to your wan port, you could use a different router not supported by Verizon. If not you would need to have Ethernet run from your ONT to the router location, and then have Verizon turn on Ethernet at the ONT. There are many different ways to configure this while still using the 9100 for the STB connection. But custom configurations will not be supported by Verizon.
Put it back to default and see if you continue to have issues. It may be something that just happened that is unrelated to your IP change. The router may have just started having issues. But if you run something different the default it is hard for them to troubleshoot.
I ran the Actiontec at 192.168.6.x for over a year and no issues. Now I can not say for the Westel 9100. My STBs are issued IPs from my DHCP server that is not a Verizon router and the WAN ports on the Verizon router are not even used. STBs get IPs at 192.168.6.100-106 based on MAC addresses, and works fine for the boxes. My router is a Linux PC box. No NAT table issues here, and yes it logs everything.
Do not expect any remote DVR features to work or any support from Verizon if you are running a custom setup. There are just too many variables for Verizon to support everything people would try and do. But as long as the STBs can hit the internet for guide and updates, all should work fine.

Hello, I was hoping somebody could help me with a problem that has left me completely puzzled.
I have a Thinkpad S531 which has been upgraded with Intel centrino N 2230 wireless card - the rig has worked flawlessly for more than a year. I often use a wireless Bluetooth headset to listen to music, not wanting to annoy my neighbours.
Recently however the range of Bluetooth dropped dramatically. I can still connect and pair devices no problem - and the headset functions if I sit in front of the notebook - but should I step a few feet away from the audio starts breaking and dropping. (Previously the Bluetooth had range in my entire apartment.)
So far I have tried..
- resetting and recharging the headset, they work perfectly with my phone and SO's thinkpad
-uninstalling and reinstalling drivers
-reinstalling Win7 (was overdue anyway)
-popping open the maintenance cover to see if any antenna wire has come loose (unlikely as Wi-Fi performance remains unchanged)
All in all I have no more ideas. What could cause the range to be reduced so suddenly and decisively, without affecting other wireless performance?

More serious than first appeared. There appears to be no help available here for issues like this because the Intel mac and Leopard is such a massive disaster the help supply side is tied up. Jobs built the Mac; Jobs wrecked the Mac; mixed cursed be the name of Jobs.

K1 Wireless Makes Siemens Gigaset SE587 Router in Range of the Wireless Signal Reboot Continuously

My K1 crashes my Siemens Gigaset SE587 Router as soon as I turn the wireless on, and the router keeps rebooting as long as the wireless on the K1 is turned on, even if it is connected to a different access point. It crashes the neighbors routers as well -- any SE587 within range of the K1's wireless signal.

from your post it's not clear so can you confirm that your box if conencted to the phone line has a filter?
you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
check the driver for wireless card in laptop is up to date - check manufacturer's website not windows update
you can also try changing wireless in hub fromdefault b/g/n to just b/g unless all your wireless devices are 'n' rated

Itouch is slow and range greatly reduced

I just purchased a airport extreme and set it up. My iMac is runing fast via wifi and the printer is working as advertised. My problem is my itouch connects about 50% of the time and when it does, it is very slow and the range is basically reduced to the room the airport is in.
I used to have a dynex g router and my iMac ran slow but my itouch was very fast and I could go anywhere in the house and outside the immediate house. Any help for getting my itouch to work with the airport extreme is appreciated.

I have also reset the network/ipad settings, soft reset the ipad, moved my router, and toggled wifi on and off, but no luck.
It's annoying as it was working no problem until after the update, the first few days were fine.

Wireless router long range to MAC

I have turbo level internet speed (20 Mb) with TimeWarner. When I connect my laptop directly to my router I get the full 20 MB download speed which is great - wirelessly the laptops typically only get 10-12 Mbps. We have 2 laptops, 2 IPhones, and 1 desktop MAC at this time. Most of our work is done on the MAC, YouTube and Skype. Unfortunately that is where we get the lowest performance at 4 Mbps! It is in a room that is 60 feet from the router, with the signal going through 3 interior walls and 1 exterior wall. I know we need a new router as our DLink 624 is 8 years old. I am looking at the Netgear RangeMax Dual-Bank Wireless N router. If this doesn't produce a better result at the MAC, we may be looking at getting a booster to position at a place where the signal can 'turn a corner' and reach the MAC more directly. Any opinions on this solution or perhaps anything else to consider?

A router that I have and absolutely love is the Asus RT-N16. It has a 3 antenna system and I have no issues with speed going through several walls and even many feet away outside. You could also as a precaution go to like Newegg and order some high gain antennas to replace the factory ones. This should help extend the range even more.
