My RSS feeds stopped updating in last 24 hours--anyone else?

I have three Macs, all running 10.4.6 that sync bookmarks through .Mac. I just read that as of 10.4.4, .Mac also syncs which RSS feeds have been read. Based on a KB article here, I also turned on "NAT Port Mapping Protocol" in my Airport Extreme Base Station, with the understanding it would enable the .Mac servers to "push" changes to my Macs. This has all been within the last 48 hours.
Last night, and still this morning, I'm not seeing any new RSS articles on my main-use Mac. If I open the RSS feeds manually, there is new content, but Safari doesn't poll those feeds on its own. I've tried rebooting, emptying the Safari Cache, turning RSS off and back on using the Safari debug menu. I've turned off the NAT Port Mapping Protocol, but no luck yet.
I see in the MacRumors forum that two other users have reported the same problem in the last day or two.
Has anyone else dealt with the problem here?
Thanks.

There have been a number of reported problems with RSS feeds and synching through .Mac. I haven't seen a workable solution in the forums which allows up-to-date RSS feed loading, plus bookmark synching. To see if your problem is similar, uncheck the bookmark synching in your .Mac account, and restart Safari.
Not familiar with "NAT Port Mapping Protocol, however, I wonder if this problem continues if that selection is shut-off.
One other possible remedy is to reset the RSS data base file by moving the existing file out of the library. It can be found in your User Library>Syndication folder. See if that helps. If it doesn't, move the file back to its original location.
Post back with results.

  • Mail RSS Feeds Stopped Updating

    Hi there,
In the past week, I've noticed that my Mail RSS feeds have stopped updating and I'm also unable to open/subscribe to new RSS feeds.
When I try to click on a new RSS feed in Safari, I get the following error message:
Safari can’t open the page “feed://www.vanilladays.com/feed/”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (Mach error 268435460 - (ipc/send) timed out)” (NSMachErrorDomain:268435460) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
In parallel to this, I've noticed that Safari is is also taking around 5 minutes to load (the is normal once loaded). I've got a separate topic about this.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I was having these problems before I updated OSX yesterday.
    Thanks for any help,
    Ste

i was able to find this on another website...
CXL: Safari fails to display RSS feeds when CPU is under load or free disk space on system drive is small. That pretty much sums it up. It's annoying, too, because if Time Machine is doing its hourly backup or I'm converting video files, Safari's RSS display repeatedly fails with the same error message: "Mach errore 268451843 - (ipc/rcv) timed out" or "NSMachErrorDomain:268451843". Under the same conditions, Safari fetches and displays normal webpages perfectly fine. Filed: 5610533.
but this doesn't make sense, I have about 4.5 GB free on my startup drive....
i also found this apple thread which is about the same issue, but also has no resolution..

  • Does the RSS feed of this forum work for anyone else?

Call me old school but I still use RSS feeds to keep up with stuff and last month the feed for this forum quit working.  After some investigation I discovered that it is not valid anymore :(

  • RSS feeds wont update

Anyone else having a problem with the RSS feeds not updating?  Ive tried refreshing and it just says updating on the bottom and never goes away.  I tried restarting my phone with no luck either.  Ive checked all the settings and made sure it autoupdates and is synced, but still nothing.  My phone is stuck on Monday the 22nd and my fiancee's hasnt worked since July.  Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated!

@dysfunkshun  Thanks for posting.  The best way to resolve your issue is to follow these steps:
Go to settings> applications> manage applications> do a force stop> then clear data.
Then, open the news app> press menu> choose settings.  Make sure "Update when opened" is checked.  Touch "Accounts & Sync"   and make sure "Sync news" is checked and "Update when opened" is checked.
    I hope this helps.  Thanks.

  • RSS Feed - Comments Update

Is there anyway I can get my RSS feed to update when comments are left and not just when a new thread /entry has been submitting.
Ie I want my mac mail to notify me every time someone has left a comment on my blog entry.
Hope that makes sense and thanks for any help in advance

Thank you Roger, Im getting closer to understanding.
However, I am still confused how I can accomplish this as you state with my custom domain involved, because my feed location changes when my domain is pointed to either host.
I gather that I need to point my domain back to my MobileMe site to get my old feed working once again. Therefor the 'mattplay.com' part of my original feed will work and the iTS will be able to find my feed at http://www.mattplay.com/Matt_Play/Podcast/rss.xml. The original feed is still sitting in the same location on my iDisk but is now not accessable via 'mattplay.com' but only the default MobileMe folder url hirachy.
Yet this is where I am confused... Once I point my domain back to MobileMe, my new feed at SquareSpace will by default change back to http://www.mattplay.squarespace.com/podcast/rss.xml. So if I then submit that feed to the iTS to get it working, plus I type that feed into my old rss, wouldnt the new feed stop working later, after I redirect my domain back to SquareSpace? Because it would then change my new podcast feed back to being http://www.mattplay.com/podcast/rss.xml again.
    Am I making sense?
Also I think the reason my new feeds currently are bringing up 'you do not have permission' errors is that I currently have acces to the podcast page restricted while I have my site 'under construction'
    Thanks in advance.

  • RSS Feeds not updating in safari (and Mail)

I have just realized that my RSS feeds (bookmark bar) stopped updating a few days ago.  If I "view all RSS articles," nothing more recent than several days ago appears.  Even when I hit "Update Now" under actions, I get nothing.  I know there are recent articles becasue I sync bookmarks across two MBAs and the other is updating just fine.
As an aside, my mail feed is not updating reliably either.
I updated to 10.7.2 on friday, but my feed worked until Saturday morning.  Any idea what might be casuing this issue?  I'm stumped.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. Some of my safari RSS feeds are updating whilst some aren't however if I go to the website and click on feeds again, it shows the latest ones. I think there's a bug in safari. I am running the latest version of Safari & OS X (as of this date). If anyone has a fix on this, it is greatly appreciated.

  • RSS-feeds stopped working

    Hello.
All of a sudden all RSS-feeds stopped loading. No RSS counts, Safari doesn't load anything when I click on one. I have tried resetting, removing the preference file, repairing permissions. Nothing seems to help.
I could add that they work perfectly well on my wife's account and a restart didn't do any good either.
I use 2.0.2 and have 152 feeds at the moment. Too many?
    Anyone know what to do?
    Rikard

    Hi rickb
good work on what you've tried so far... I'd suggest cleaning or removing System caches - you might try this... http://www.northernsoftworks.com/snowleopardcachecleaner.html since I've seen it recommended here before.
Failing that, although on paper it mightn't help in this case : try a Safe Boot - holding down the Shift key as your mac starts - then restart normally.

  • RSS - Live bookmark failed to load - Firefox, RSS feeds not updating

I am new to this forum, and I figure this has been covered before. However, I'm not finding an answer.
I have a Beehive workspace and go to Recent Activity to subscribe to the RSS feed. When using Firefox, I am prompted for my username and password. The RSS feed works until I quit Firefox. After restarting Firefox, I get the "Live bookmark failed to load" message.
If I try to access the feed with Safari, I have the option to enter my username and password, and then save that info in my keychain. I'm trying to determine if the reason the RSS feed isn't updating because of some authentication problem.
People using Internet Explorer have also reported problems with Beehive workspace RSS feeds not updating, so I'm trying to find a solution.
Not providing reliable RSS feeds is slowing down adoption of our workspace, and people aren't wanting to use the workspace until I've resolved the RSS issue.
Can you point me to a solution or to information on how to resolve the RSS updating issues.
    Thanks.

    HI,
The RSS feed is password protected as you have to be an authenticated user to access the complete system. The issue seems to be in the browser - if it does not trigger a check for username/password and then prompt if not set there is a li9mited amount we can do.
We are working on getting the subscriptions inside beehive working which will generate notifications but that will not be available for a week or so.
    Phil

You can't just select "skip"?  It's at the bottom and is in smaller print.

  • Iweb rss feed stopped working

About a week ago all of my RSS feeds made through the RSS iWeb Widget stopped working. Some research brought me here: SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier 'any' (anonymous function) www.icloud.com:1
Is Apple not supporting it anymore? That would be a disaster
Message was edited by: Idiot Media

Well yes, the fact that Apple has not supported iWeb for the last 3 years is old news!!  Apple has not sold or supported iWeb for at least 3 years and iWeb has not been updated for at least 6 years.
The longer you continue to use iWeb and technology moves forward, the more likely you are to get things that don't work as expected.
Perhaps it is now time to ditch iWeb in favour of alternative software that is actually supported?
There is a lot out there - RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, WebAcappella 4, Flux V and EverWeb.
With most of these you can try before you buy.

  • Lion Mail - RSS Feeds quit updating

I just came back from vacation and my RSS feeds in Lion Mail won't update. When I click on one, it's empty and when I tell it to individually update or Update All, it tries and nothing updates. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • N8 RSS feeds stopped syncing

RSS feeds have stopped syncing, the address is fine.  I can send the RSS feeds to another N8 and they sync fine there.
Any ideas how to fix it?  I've tried adding new RSS feeds and they also don't sync
    Thanks.

Is it the RSS reader that is not updating when you clikc the button or is it the widget on the HOme screen that says "Unable to update" even when you press the orange refresh button?
My guess it is the latter.
    here are some options.
    1. You have set Widgets to off line.
    2. You have changed to some wifi network that you couldn't connect with then hit the refresh button... it will try to use the wifi link.
    3. YOu have chanced the schedule(?) to too infrequently...or set to manually...
    anyway give us more info...
