My S key won't work! Help me!

I am on my dads PC atm btw. I just got a new macbook pro at christmas. 30 minutes ago, I opened my mac from sleep, opened ichat and started typing to a buddy. I noticed the S key was not showing up when i pressed it and was accompianed by a error noise. it doesn't work in any application. I have rebooted (no help) and run software update. I am not near a apple store and the apple support line is full. What do I do?

Electronic serial key won't work, help anyone?

Bought electronic serial key today and when I open pages, click on trial, it asks for serial key. I input the key and the "continue" button does not highlight only the "go back" is highlighted. When I press enter after entering the number, I get "wrong key input" and I am putting the correct number in... It's cut and pasted from the confirmation email from Apple. What the ****? Over.

Have you copied a space or hidden character before or after the serial number when you copied it from Apple's email?
Try copying the serial number, pasting it into TextEdit, verify it's the correct serial number then copy/paste it into the Pages window.

Alt key won't work, help!

I select the object, text box or whatever needs duplicating press and hold alt start to drag, it comes up with the two arrows as it usually does but when i click off with the mouse it has simply just moved the object without duplicating it. im using indesign ccon a i mac. please help.

Page Up and Down keys won't work - have tried everything

My Page Up and Down keys won't work. I've tried hitting F7, the Fn key, checked that the "Always use cursor keys to navigate" box is not selected in the Advanced Options tab and made sure that the "Use autoscrolling" tab is selected. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox, tried hitting buttons F1 through to F12 and then checked that accessibility.warn_on_browsewithcaret is set to 'true'.
It also won't work in Internet Explorer - I have no idea what else to try. My Up/Down arrows are working, just not the Page Up/Page Down buttons. Please help, this is driving me nuts. It's only just started happening; I've never had a problem with it before!

What is the value of the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/accessibility.browsewithcaret accessibility.browsewithcaret] on the about:config page?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem.
Try a restart or reset to see if that helps. If not, contact Apple Support.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Arrow Keys Won't Work on Many Websites

On many game sites, the arrow keys won't work at all, so I'm not able to play. The hardware is fine, they work fine in email and Word, just not on the game sites. Do I have a setting wrong? I've checked everything (I think....)

The arrow keys are working for me in the game on http://www.ezone.com/games/jazzy/gamecode.htm. The arrow keys work slugishly for me in the game I tried on www.freeonlinegames.com/play/3350.html. The third sight seems to require registration so I did not try it.
Freeonline games was more responsive for me using Firefox, you might want to give this browser a try and see how it behaves.

You'll need to provide some additional information .... what keys won't work, what is running on the system when that happens, does it only happen after an event, like waking from sleep or ? If you reboot or shut your system down and restart does that fix it for some period of time?

Presumably you are connecting it from the *Dock Connector.* In this case, the controls on the car stereo should be controlling the iPod and the iPod's controls are disabled.
If you are using the car's connection interface, consult the car manual to find out how to control the iPod. If you are using an adaptor between the iPod and car, ask the adaptors installer or manufacturer.

QuickTime 6.5 registration will not work with QuickTime 7.

Fn F7 keys won't work in BootCamp on MBP

I'm trying to use a projector with my MBP to teach CAD in BootCamp. The problem is that I can't mirror my screen when using bootcamp, like I can in OS X. I can get an extension of my screen, but can't display the contents of my screen on the projector.
Normally you would use the fn F7 keys to toggle through the display options, but in Windows XP the fn F7 won't work.
Does anyone have any ideas? A remapping program for MBP? Please Help.

Have you tried the windows way (right click on desktop > properties > settings and uncheck Extend my Windows desktop... ?

To rule out any Software issue I prefer you should Reload your Device Software and see if that helps otherwise you need to contact your Service provider for repair.So please try it first.

Open the Speech pane of System Preferences and check whether either the listening key or the speech key has become set to that keystroke; if so, change the setting.

Few keys won't work after coffee spill

I realize this subject has been beaten to death because I have done searches here and Google multiple times but I can't seem to find a precise answer for my problem. Yesterday, around noon, my daughter spilled some coffee on the keys of my aluminum 13" Macbook. I wiped it off immediately and powered the laptop down. I read some tutorials on removing the keys so I decided to do that and wipe up some of the spilled coffee from under the keys. I put all the keys back and I turned my computer on this morning only to find that none of my keys worked, but the mouse pad still works fine. I plugged an external keyboard in and continued to log in. I opened Word and began typing and about 1/2 of my keys began to work. The "L" key opens up Spaces instead of typing the letter "L". So, a few questions:
Is it possible I didn't clean the keys good enough and that is why some of them are not working?
Is my Macbook, late 2008 aluminum 13" considered a unibody style?
I'm having trouble finding information on my specific Mac body style. I'd like to search for some tutorials on how to get a better view point of the keyboard to see if I can clean it a little better. I am prepared with the fact that I may need to buy a new keyboard. Also, I live about 4.5 hours from the nearest Apple store so that is out of the question. Thank you in advance for any help.

sorry to hear about this mishappen. I recognize it, since it happened to me a few years ago, also my daughter pooring thee (not coffee - but the difference is marginal - ) into an external keyboard. I took it apart and cleaned and dried it very carefully, but never got it working again. This was an external keyboard.
a similar failure occurred to other people with they laptop keyboards (and to me, without "using" any liquid). I presume - without knowing really the interiors of the laptop keyboards - that (1) they are read out in a kind of matrix (sensitive bars arranged in rows and (almost) columns corresponding to keys), which needs two layers of contact strips; and that (2) the layers are separated by plastic sheets.
Your diagnostics seems to imply that
1) there are still bad contacts (might be liquid where it shouldn't be);
2) the contact point has shifted ;
The latter could perhaps be due to liquid shifting the pressure away from the point where it should be applied.
What i would do:
Give the keyboard much time for drying - perhaps by removing the keys again. But there is always the chance that the temperature of the coffee, and the residues are causing troubles and might cause some keys not to function properly.
I think (i am not sure !!) you have a "unibody": i think it is "unique " in the sense that it has no screws (except at the bottom) - and no Firewire outlet. I have never opened my MB, but the only way i see for opening it is from the bottom (there are 4 screws at mine) - but i do not know whether it is advisable to open it. I would check via Phone with Apple before doing anything myself.

The Up Arrow Key Won't Work!

Whenever I try to use the up arrow key on my MBP, it doesn't respond. For example, on any application I use, it won't work. But, for some reason, whenever I play Empire At War, it works perfectly.
What should I do?

To be honest there is a lengthy process involved. If you are able to call APPLE support. try that. If not let me know and I will continue.
