My Safari has never liked ebay
Hi all,
I have had an issue with Safari and ebay which I have always had but I have put up for it for so long that I thought I would now ask.
I get a lot of issues when I click into an auction item on ebay and then I get safari telling me that the page cannot be displayed, this happens frequently and I have to fight with the browser to get the page displyed. Also when i'm listing items I don't get any of the text editing options within the ebay window.
I get the same symptons on both my Powermac running leopard and also my ibook running tiger. I get non of these problems running Firefox but I would rather be using Safari.
Any ideas?
sorry to jump right in here, but I did a search because I am having issues with Ebay myself and was hoping to find some info. I use Ebay ALOT, to buy and sell.....lately to buy more though.
Up until yesterday I could use the drop down menus with no problem. I can't seem to change the drop downs on 'newly listed', 'low to high', etc....or even change page numbers. I agree that this just started yesterday. Literally, I check Ebay about 10 times a day. It is frustrating me cuz I have a few auctions I need to look at and can't.
Has anyone have anymore information? I reset Safari as someone mentioned and nada. Now I am going to try the other and unmark the fraudulent sites. I am a newbie at iMacs (just got my first ever in January), so I am praying it isn't a Safari issue at all.
Anyone? I really need help or to know who to notify.

This has me confused. Rebooting the iPad (holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen) should not in any way, shape or form, remove content from the iPad.
Then you stated that you chose the option to back up before restarting? There is no option to backup before "restarting" on the iPad. Are you restoring the device in iTunes? -

My Apple TV does not work and has never worked. I replaced it twice and replaced my router and DSL modem but no luck. I spent hours on tech support with both apple and my ISPs with no luck. Any ideas? Is the Apple TV a donation to apple? I have had the device for 8 months but it will not work for longer than 15 minutes before it drops with network errors. All of my other devices work perfectly on the network including 2 iPads, laptops and an old wii. I love apple products and this is the first real disappointment I have had. The Apple TV seems like a major dud of a product.
Seems unlikely you have had two faulty replacements, and more likely that there may be some network compatibility issue or problem with reception in the location the AppleTV lies - anything close to it that might be interfering?
I am assuming you are connected via wifi - if you can try an ethernet connection to rule wifi issues out.
Could you try it at somone else's house maybe? If it worked there it would point to something specific at your location.
You could try replacing it again I guess or seeing if they can offer you credit or a refund. -
What's wrong with Safari - has been slow for months.
Safari Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1)
For months now, Safari has been responding incredibly slow to go to websites. What I see is a blank browser page and the blue url progress bar barely moving.
It doesn't matter how I ge tto the site, if I click on a link from google / facebook / an email / other site or if I manually enter a url. For example, just to get to this support forum, to get to the log in page took Safari about 20 seconds to load.
I have emptied cache, turned off extensions, reset safari, removed all website data, turned off auto fill and deleted all passwords. It seems the more I try to reset Safari, the slower it gets.
Most of the time, Chrome responds much faster although there have been a few times where its just as slow or slower. I have never reset or erased anything from Chrome.
I don't know what else to do. I really want my internet usage to get speedier.Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -
I downloaded several tv shows on my computer and attempted to drag and drop to my iPod touch. I received an error message indicating that there was a problem syncing to my iPod. What steps should I take next? This has never happened before.

OCCASIONALLY I can hear my laptop fan whirring excessively when using the web. If it happened too much, I've quit the browser and the laptop soon cools off. This started when using Safari, and was why I thought I'd try Firefox for a while. Apart from the default browser issue, I've found Firefox easier to use and more reliable. I can't say for sure that this 'overheat' issue has never happened with Firefox since I installed it.This is caused by a problem with the file that stores customizations. There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
com.something.daemon.plist
and
com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
Open this folder:
/Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
Finally, in this folder:
/System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked. -
Safari has been crashing daily
Safari has been crashing daily (sometimes more than once a day) for the last month or so. I usually have the browser open all day at work, often in the background.Ive even tried going into "uninstall a program" and repairing both safari and apple support center.....still no luck.
Windows says it will still check for a solution, but there is never any other message after Safari is closed.

This is a family computer and no telling how it was deleted. Firefox is OK, but seems to be running slow with a few annoying pop-ups. I am a novice Mac-ophile.

mhGo to the Apple Menu and use Software Update, enter your password and do what it says, check again to make sure it's clear.
Next look in your Applications folder for Safari and drag it's icon to the Dock, and place Safari there, it will make a new "shortcut"
If Safari is not working then
Next see if you can download the Safari from here using Firefox and install it.

If it says "can't install blah blah blah" then exit and trash the installer.
Apple issues newer Safari versions via Software update and it takes some time to get it on the web side.
But that's how you re-install Safari, however the Software update likely will fix your malware issue and provide a new Safari.
If you need Safari right away there is a way to reinstall it and all of OS X at once, quite a chore. -
Safari has no sound for certain files
I tried to listen to some music on a site called Purevolume.com and it streams the info fine but never starts to play. This is very annoying since it used to play music from this site before. I also tried a bands website that I knew had a music player and the music will not play. I looked at other forums that say safari has no sound but nothing seems to be working for me. PLEASE HELP

How to connect my iPad to my laptop when it has never been connected to a device before
i need to update my iPad to the new iOS and i need more space in order to do it, i have over 3,000 photos that i dont want to use not to mention game save data that i ideally dont want to loose. it has never been connected to any other device before and i want to know in confidence that i wont loose anything. my laptop is a windows 8 (and everytime i connect something to it, it normally corrupts it)

My favorite browser Safari (5.1.5 ) has stopped working. Yes I know is on a PC. But is been very good to me for a long time, untill about two months ago. I keep getting a pop up message saying "Safari has stopped working" I will close the pop up message and continue working but within a few minute, the message will pop up again. The browser opens up fast as always and runs fine but the message is a pain and annoying. I'm running Firefox now , but I want my Safari back . Please help.

I generated the problem report similar to the above screen shot " by way of IE 9 " but will not let me copy and paste the contents as a screen shot in reply to your post here . Copy to clipboard did not work either. I might be doing something wrong. Oh well.

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios8, it safari has been slow and crashing and some of the apps acting wierd. The password app doesn't work at all so had to find another way of retrieving all my passwords. Very very dissapointing. It appears from these forums that a lot of people are having the same problems wit this latest update.

Actually the Licensing information for the package is missing hence it is not launching any applications. You need to Reserialize the products using APTEE which you can find it on the Machine where you have created the package. If you dont have the access to that Machine then please download and install Creative Cloud Packager and it will download APTEE in the below mentioned location.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\CCP\utilities
Once downloaded please follow this KB article to use the Tool.

I attempted to update iTunes yesterday. The update failed. iTunes now won't open and displays an error message that the program isn't localized and needs to be run in the English version. I'm in the US and the computer and program has never been used in another language. I tried reinstalling the full download for the new version and that failed as well. I logged out; shut down; restarted; retried the update; etc. Still no luck and the same message. Thoughts?

You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process. -

My iPad 2 has never been "paired" with any PC. My one and only PC is corrupted and will not, after many many attempts, download iTunes. When I turn on my iPad it insists that I connect to my iTunes. How can I avoid this and just get the iPad to work like normal? Any help is much appreciatedYou cannot do anything with the iPad until you do as instructed by the iPad and connect to iTunes on a computer.
You probably need to restore the iPad and the only way to do that is via iTunes on a computer.
Take it to an Apple Store and ask for help at a Genius bar or take it to a friend's house that is running iTunes on their computer and try to restore it.
You will lose all of your data and settings now because you never backed the iPad up in the past.
