My safari program keeps shutting down while I'm trying to use it on my iPad 4

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can stop this happening?

Tap Settings > Safari then tap to clear History, Cookies, and Data
Then restart the device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • Trouble with Safari - it keeps shutting down - all because I tried to get rid of MacKeeper

trouble with Safari - it keeps shutting down - all because I tried to get rid of MacKeeper ad - after I install what I thought was an update since I already had MacKeeper, it would not allow me to continue without buying the new one. Make a long story short I switch to Firefox and deleted as much as I could of Safari (files, preferences etc) Now I'm at OS Yosemite X 10.10.2 and would like to get Safari up and running again - I've searched for Adware in applications etc but could not find it. Found what to do from the community, but before I go that route...Do I have to know where or if I actually have this spyware?    And if I were to reinstall  Maveric - would my files and such be undisturbed?  so that only Safari would be replaced?    I"M LOST .... (as if you couldn't tell)
I've been working with Mac for 30 years or more and although I'm hands on taught the only thing I lack is the newer "buzz words" so if you can help me out - please make it simple ??  thanks

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • I have downloaded photoshop elements 12 on mac. But the program keeps shutting down and i have to restart it the whole time.

I have tried deleting the program and reinstalling it but it is not working.  It is really annoying since I use it for my photography business.  I can not work in a program that keeps shutting down.

You must always, always use the uninstaller in the PSE 12 folder in applications. Unfortunately, you broke some stuff by moving the program that way, so now I'm afraid you have a bit more work to do. First, download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
That will not actually remove anything, but it frees things up so you can go around and manually remove stuff. After running it, you will need to scurry around your hard drive and trash all the bits you can find. Start in your username>library>preferences. To see that library, option click Go menu in the finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. look especially for files beginning com.adobe.whatever. While you're in that library go to the saved application states folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Next you need to go to the library at the top level of your hard drive>library>application support>adobe and delete all the PSE stuff in there. That library isn't exactly hidden, like the user library, but it's hard to get to. The easiest way is to go to the finder preferences>sidebar and turn on Hard Disks under Show these items in sidebar. Then the next time you open a finder window your hard drive will appear in the list on the left side of the window. Click it and the library you want for this will appear in the top level of results.
Finally, after reinstalling PSE, be sure to immediately go to editor>help>updates and update to 12.1, then repair permissions.

  • My iphoto keeps shutting down while I'm typing a caption. Is there some way to avoid this?

My iphoto keeps shutting down while I'm typing a caption. Is there a way to stop that?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    What version of iPhoto?

After installing IOS 6 my Iphone 4s continues to shut down on me after trying to use any app. I've backed up and rebooted, nothing helps. Can anyone help??

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

    Welcome to the discussions!
Have you tried creating a new user account and launching the apps there? If they work under the new account, then it is possible that you have a corrupted pref file.
I had this happen on my eMac, but it was when I was a newer Mac user and didn't know much. I ended up reinstalling to OS - which corrected it - but that is a bit drastic.
Let's not do that, but try some other troubleshooting first.

  • Why does my Mail program keep shutting down?

At least daily, my Mail program unexpectedly shuts down.  It never happens while I am actively using the program so I have not lost any data; however, it is abnormal and is starting to make me feel a little concerned.

    Hello RCraig1984,
The article linked below details some useful information and steps that can help isolate and resolve issues with applications quitting unexpectedly.

  • Programs keep shutting down

Is anybody out there experiencing this and do you know how to fix it. It doesn't matter what program I am in I have about 10-15 minutes before it shuts down. It's so frustrating because it so unstable and I am not sure how to fix it. I have done ever possible download and still nothing. Please help. Can't run a home business like this.

I am having the same problem. It just started today. I installed Leopard on Oct. 29, I've had it for a couple of weeks. At first, I loved it, but new problems keep popping up every few days. I, too, have an at-home business and I run Safari, Firefox and Safari Mail simultaneously to monitor two businesses. Safari hasn't been affected, so far, but Firefox and Mail will shut down. It always happens after I leave my computer, so I don't know what actually happens. But when I come back all I have is my desktop and no webpages are open. The only way I can get them to re-open is to Restart the computer.
Another problem that started last night is with iDisk sync. I get an error box stating that certain items were unable to sync. Always different items, but all are photos that are on iWeb or .Mac Homepage and have been there since Tiger.
The very first problem that I noticed after installing Leopard is that webpages are opening much more slowly than with Tiger. Evenings are always the slowest but it's never been as fast as Tiger. I'm on an ethernet cord, but that didn't speed things up at all.
These are my answers to the questions you asked of Hiitsss:
    Firefox v. 2.0.0.9
    Safari Mail 3.0 (912.1/912)
    Capacity: 232.44 GB
    Available: 185.26 GB
Thanks for letting me jump in.

  • Safari 6 Keeps Shutting Down

I am still running OSX Lion (10.7.4) and upgraded Safari to version 6. It's got a lot of problems, but the worse one is that it just keeps shutting itself down randomly. There is no crash report generated, however, like usually happens when an application crashes, so, I have no idea if it's crashing or shutting itself down.
When I'm in a different application and click on the Safari window on my desktop, that's when it just shuts down. Every time.
Additionally, it's slow loading web pages and soemtimes just won't load a web page at all. I have to quit Safari and restart it again to load the page. I've been using Safair since verison 1 and I have to say this is the buggiest, least stable version I've ever used. I've started using Chrome for now until the problems are fixed.
Is there a way to go back to Safari 5? I preferred that much more to version 6.
    Thanks.

Mine was crashing 10-20 times a day, always when I was using Safari (clicking on a bookmark, clicking on a link, changing pages, etc.).  I ran TechToolPro and DiskWarrior, and it got slightly better, but it's still happening (5-10 times a day).  I may move to a different browser if this keeps up and Apple doesn't trot out an update.  I've NEVER had an Apple app crash like this, and I've been using OS X since 10.0.3.  Maybe it doesn't want to play nice with 10.7, I don't know, but it's quite aggravating.  It does create crash reports, and I keep hitting OK to send 'em off.  And I see plenty of posts here about it.  But I certainly won't be upgrading to 10.8 until the major apps I use will function on it (a few months, at least).  Very disappointing.

  • IMac keeps shutting down while in sleep

I have an iMac G-5 without iSight.......not sure if this started happening after the last sucurity update or installing HP printer software, but now when the computer goes into sleep, it waits awhile and then shuts down entirely, forcing me to turn the computer back on. I uninstalled the HP software, and repaired permissions, but this still keeps happening. Any ideas on what caused this and what I can do to fix it?
iMac G-5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   80 gig hardrive which has about 2 gigs left

    Hi,
I am having a similar problem. I have an iMAC (serial in the range W8435xxxxxx - W8522xxxxxx) and in the two weeks, when the computer is put to sleep it turns off. However, I only notice this in the morning after it has been asleep all night. The problem seems to be far more frequent when I put it to sleep as opposed to just letting it time out and go to sleep that way.
I have applied all updates and the only modification to the computer is extra ram (from Other World Computing).
I have seen elsewhere that I can see the computer's reason for shutdown in "system.log". Can anyone tell me how to find that so I can look for the shutdown code there?
    Any ideas?

  • Mail keeps shutting down while it is connecting

When I open my mail it automatically shuts down within about 2 seconds while it is connectinb and returns me to the home page. My emails seem to be coming through but I just cant get into the mail page to look at them?

FWIW, I had similar trouble. I could apparently delete 3 or 4 emails using the "Edit" function, then mail would crash and emails would re-appear next time mail was opened. Mail would also crash on its own after 15-20 seconds even without trying to read or delete anything. Tried downloading an app, tried hard reset, tried restore and "new phone" restore. No dice.
In another thread here I found a suggestion to delete the email ACCOUNT from the phone and then re-create. User reported deleting all messages from server as well, but I didn't do that, and still had instant success. Apparently it's not necessarily the messages themselves that get corrupted. Try simply deleting the account and re-creating.
