My safari starts taking up a bunch of memory until I have like 18Mb left

How do I stop this?
I have an i7 macbook pro retina with 8gigs of ram and opening one or two tabs in safari turns it into a lemon. Is firefox looking good on retina yet? Unfortunately I don't think there will be an out of the box solution for this machine until ubuntu 13.04. For the time being, I would at least like to be able to browse the web, check email, etc, maybe even watch a youtube video!

I don't know if this works in 10.8, but it certainly does in 10.6 - Quit Safari, select it in the Applications folder and do a Get Info (Command-I); in the window that opens check Open in 32-bit mode
The other thing you can do is open Utilities/Activity Monitor, and Quit Process for Safari Web Content. That won't affect anything you're doing, but it will release all that RAM it's hogging. Do be aware it will build up again pretty quick so you would need to keep Activity Monitor open and repeat at regular intervals.

  • Transaction FKKORDM started taking long to complete the execution.

Transaction FKKORDM started taking long to complete the execution. I faced the this issue before so i re-generated the interval then this issue got resolved.  Now i am again start facing same issue and it is not being resolved by re-generating the intervals.
Can some one let me know any possible cause of this long run.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    You could try the following:
Go to the Implementation Guide of the contract accounting (under
'Technical settings' -> 'Prepare mass activities') and maintain the
settings for the general control for the mass run types.
Delete the 'No reconciliation key' indicator on the 'Reconciliation key'
tab and set the 'Mass posting' indicator.
    See if this can help.
    Regards
    Olivia

  • I have accidentally change my "Apple start-page" to one that does not have "search" window.  How do I get back to my original Safari start up page?

When I am in safari and go to a site, I now do not have a place to "search".  I accidently lost the original page that appears when going to safari.  How do I get back to my original "start-page" that I started with?

I think you may mean the search box on the toolbar.  In Safari click on the View menu and select Show Toolbar.
Alternatively, if you mean the 'Home Page' then open Safari -> Preferences -> General and next to 'Homepage' put in the address of the page you want - I'm guessing "http://www.google.com/".

  • Safari start up page won't display

Safari start up page try's opening multiple times and finally says it can't display web page. It has repeatedly encountered an error while trying to display. You can then go to yahoo.com, YouTube, google, whatever you want. It want open apple.com though. I have reset my safari. I have safari 5.1.7.    I try to run my disk utilities and a min into repairing disk utilities, an error occur's and doesn't finish.repairing.. I've went into system preferences, network, advanced, and then into proxies and nothing is checked in there except for the use of passive FTP Mode. Can any one help me out?

I ran the hardware test on the Application's DVD and within 3 sec's of running it, it came back with a code of 4MEM/4/40000000:0xa9f7a118.  I know the MEM codes have something to do with memory. I've had our computer in 2 different times at Geeksquad. They've sent it off and replaced the hard drive on one occasion and the mother board on the other occasion. I keep telling them that it's probably the RAM, but the headquarters where they send it to keep's saying that in all there check's they've done, the RAM is fine. Everytime before they've sent my mac off i've had a chance to run the hardware test and gotten a 4MEM code back each time before these parts were replaced. Before the 1st replacement (hard drive) was replaced the code was 4MEM/4/40000000:0xa9f75e98.  The 2cd replacement (mother board) the code was 4MEM/4/40000000:0xa9f75f18.    Whatever the problem is, it looks like it's coming from the same place just looking at the code. This is been going on since the middle of Feb of this year.

  • How can I make Safari start my homepage all the time?

I don't like that Safari starts the last page that I was on everytime I run the application. How can I change this so that my default homepage is opened everytime instead?

Go to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Prefrerences then select the General tab.
You can set your home page from there.
If you are running Lion v10.7, disable the Lion "resume" feature...
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
BTW... when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. That really helps.

  • Firefox start taking more memory without stop, even when closed

    Hi Firefox Team,
I have been Firefox user for almost 10 years. I love your product. But recently Firefox has show an estrange behavior. After use my laptop (VAIO, Intel i7, 12GB RAM, 256 SSD, Windows 7 Professional x64) without restart it for a couple of days (instead of restart, I sleep it), and with Firefox (35.0.1) running the same period of time, it start to take memory without stop, 5MB/s approximately. A couple of time I did some test and it reach 2 GB of RAM and continue. Also, even if I close Firefox, it still running on background taking the memory, so I have to end it from Task Manager.
Please let me know which evidence or test should I perform so I can send you more information, beside description.
    Regards,
    Ricardo

Check out this [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram site] see if it helps.
    Have a great day!!

  • Why does Safari start at login?

When I restart or login, Safari starts up on its own. What is causing this?

Here's the EtreCheck report. I ran it shortly after Safari started up on its own again. I was away from the computer for about 20 mins after the last restart. Safari was running when I came back.  The one system pref that I think MIGHT be contributing to this issue is called "Xmarks for Safari". It syncs my Firefox bookmarks with my Safari bookmarks. It runs in the background and periodically does its sync process. However, when I force "Xmarks for Safari" to sync, it does NOT trigger Safari to open.
    Problem description:
Safari starts up on its own a short while AFTER restarting.

  • Safari starts very slowly

I am running Panther (10.3.9) with the latest updates. PowerBook G4 1GHz with 512MB RAM. Lately I've noticed that Safari takes a long time to start, i.e. the Safari icon bounces 30-40 times (~1 min.?) before it starts, whereas before it only bounces 3-4 times (within seconds). It simply takes a long time but nothing really has changed on this machine. I tried emptying the cache on all accounts and this hasn't helped. What gives?

Looks like I solved the problem. I turned off Airport, shut the computer down. I was going to try using the built-in ethernet port to see if it has anything to do with Airport itself (since Mail was having the same problem too). Turns out I didn't configure my ISP settings for the ethernet port, so I turned back on airport to retrieve the settings from the ISP's website. Low and behold, Safari starts almost instantly. Mail is back to normal speed now too.
It was the turn off and on of airport plus the system shutdown that fixed it. Don't know which worked but thanks for the tips.

  • Safari starts extremely slow

Safari Starts extremely slow after the last update.

    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    2. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
    and confirm. Test.

On the main menu, isn't there a settings icon next to the green one that says "Computer" ?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

I downloaded Safari for Windows Public Beta Seed 31A15 from the Apple Developer Connection (http://developer.apple.com) and it fixed my problem crashing on startup. I'm running Windows XP Pro but it may work for you on Vista.
You have to setup an account or use your existing Apple ID to log in to the Developer Connection.

  • Speed up Safari Start Up

My safari was taking for ever to open my homepage and many others.
The solution was simple and effective.
In Safari at the top left click EDIT, then PREFERENCE, ADVANCED, PROXIES (Change Settings).
In the Internet Properties box choose Lan Settings and Un-check the auto detect box.
That's it, things will speed waay up now.

I have SAFARI 3.0.4. My safari on my MAC is running @64KB and the PC on the router is running @ 750KB. I am plenty frustrated. I have tried the proxies change below and I don't see a LAN setting or the auto detect box. I have dumped my cache, thrown out all the cookies, taken files out of the library/safari and library/preferences. I still don't see any change. Before I loaded Leopard I had much faster speed. At one time I saw a 900KB speed.
Anyone out there have the same problem or a solution that will fix me up? I see the commercials for the MAC/ PC and right now the PC is looking better.
